I really was hoping avoiding getting to this point but I reached a breaking point here. I had a PPI done on an e46 M3 at MRF (back in July) as I was flying from Chicago to drive it back. It was not great communication from the get go but I figured maybe thats just how people do business in California and he did come recommended by some folks in the BMW community. He made some recommendations based on the PPI - brakes, rod bearings, valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket and some other minor things. I thought the brakes were weird because the service history (which was extensive on this car) showed they had been done but whatever, I was driving across the country and wanted a safe car. I approve the work he recommended, fast forward to me trying to communicate book my flight etc and it wasnt great but finally book and fly out. He calls tells me that the brakes are actually fine and that the rod bearings look like theyve been replaced. OK, strange to me that stuff on the PPI that needed to be done all of a sudden doesnt need to be done. I pay my invoice drive home. Something didnt feel right so I have a post purchase inspection done by local and extremely reputable BMW indy shop and they discover a whole host of issues, many of which should have been caught during the initial PPI. This shop sends me videos and photos of the work that MRF had supposedly done clearly not having been done. I had to have everything redone that MRF had claimed they had done and ended up having to do an engine rebuild along with the clutch and weld small crack in the subframe that also should have been caught. If MRF had done their initial job and/or done a good PPI I would have passed on the car and continued the search for a better e46 but now Im stuck with it. I gave Malek every opportunity to make things right or even dispute the evidence I provided (videos, photos etc from not one but two different indy shops). He initially offered to refund my PPI as I was unhappy. I said cool but what about everything else I have shown you and waited, and waited and texted and waited. Totally ghosted me, entirely. I tried to do the right thing and resolve it amicably but had to dispute it with my CC company, which he fought and then I had to submit pics of all my texts with him, all the messages with the new shop, all the photos and videos they took etc to get a resolution. Im sure there will be some response to this review but if anyone wants additional information I am happy to share all the messages back and forth regarding the issues I have had with this shop to see that I am being completely transparent here (never got that PPI refunded either by the way). Its a lot of photos to upload here but I can also share the videos and the photos showing evidence of the work not being completed as well. Im hoping they do the right thing here and simply refund me what is owed to me before having to put them on full blast. Maybe e46 M3s are just not his jam as it appears I wasnt the only unhappy e46 owner that used his shop. If he didnt want the work, was too busy, didnt know these cars as well as the standard e90+ models he usually works on I dunno then he should have said that but Im out $2700 and had to pay to correct that plus everything else he didnt catch. I suspect he just didnt want to deal with me or my car for whatever reason. read more

When I called Malek from MRF Engineering to setup my appointment for a Rod Bearings service on my E92 M3, Malek sent me a very detailed email about the entire process. How long it's going to take, the cost, what parts and fluids are they using, etc. Made my appointment then went to MRF in the morning and was greeted and welcomed by Malek's father, Fred. He explained to me how everything is going to go down, showed me around the shop, showed me what rod bearings even are, and showed me what an engine looks like after rod bearings failure. I felt like a valued customer the entire time and the shop is extremely clean and organized! Left my car there overnight to pick it up the next day and met Malek. Malek showed me my old rod bearings and explained to me everything about them. Also gave me a run down on the condition of the rest of my car. I was in the market for an E90 M3 and found one in good condition and wanted to do a PPI. Reached out to Malek and he was able to take me in next day to do a PPI with myself and the seller. PPI came up good so I purchased the car and decided to leave the car with MRF to do the rod bearings and upgrade all the subframe bushings. Malek pointed out a couple of other preventative maintenance and updates to save money since certain parts of the car will already taken apart. It was revealed my old rod bearings started to wear down to the copper so it was only a matter of time. I have no idea what all the positive reviews are all about regarding this place (probably friends and/or people they know). From the first phone call the owner was extremely rude, dry, and uninterested in my business. I should have listened to my gut feeling. Never the less I made an "appointment" to have the oil leak diagnosed on my e46 330i. When I arrived at our agreed upon time, the owner (once again) was absolutely rude and very unfriendly. He said that I had to leave the car for 2 hours in order to have it inspected for the oil leak. I told them that I couldn't do that and why he gave me an appointment if he could not look at my car. He couldn't give 2 shits about me or my car. And then said that I could come back in "2 months" to have my oil leak looked at. I walked out extremely frustrated and deeply disappointed as I was hopeful to have found a great place to take my BMW to for repairs. Just had my Rod Bearings done by Malek. He was professional, knowledgeable, accommodating, and very customer service oriented. Dropped off my car at 8:30AM, was finished around 5PM. He is very meticulous and detail-oriented in his work. Also had my motor mounts replaced since they were pretty much done. 2010 M3, 71xxx miles. Bearings were down to the copper. Horrendous. When he installed my wheels and tires, he didn't even check the tire pressure and then when I texted him about it, Malek's response was "Was I supposed to?" Also, when people came by to pick up my wheels and tires from him to deliver to a shop in LA, Malek never gave them the lugs. Again, when I asked him why he didn't, his response was "Why, was I supposed to?" His lack of attention to detail and his "shrug of the shoulders" response to questions about simple tasks he should have completed, have -- among other reasons -- motivated me not to bring my business back to MRF or refer anyone to him. read more

Located in a nice industrial complex near Foothill Ranch, the garage was spotless and was meticulously maintained--It looked more like a showroom with 2 lifts, than a garage! So I dropped off my car here because it was leaking oil, and it's a good thing I did, because Malek saved me hundreds of dollars and even showed me mistakes that the dealership mechanics had made. By the end of the day, my car was good to go, and they even road tested it for me to make sure everything was in working order. Work done: Install of KW V3's, Camber plates, stud conversion, m3 control arms/tension arms and an alignment for my 135i. Owner: Malek knows his stuff. Hands down. He knew exactly what he was talking about and is extremely articulate about any adjustments or concerns I had. It is always worrysome when having someone work on your car, but after the first impression I knew that my car was in great hands. Install: While installing my coilovers and camber plates, Malek noticed that one of my control arms was severely damaged. That being said, he suggested I replace the arm or else risk snapping it. He had e9x m3 control arms in stock and replaced them at an affordable price. It is very impressive that Malek took action to point out that a certain part was damaged and had the replacements on hand. His communication was the best I have had thus far and kept me up to date with any concerns or issues. His customer service was exceptional. Post alignment and all installs, the car handles like a dream and I could not have asked for anyone else to complete this work. I will for sure be coming back to Malek for any installs / work to be done on the car. The shop is always in pristine condition as well. Malek has been working on my cars for years now. I met him at a car meet for Lexus IS300's and it was no wonder why people were all asking him questions as if he was a specialist with cars or something. Turns out he was and that his business was just taking off. I asked for a quote for a coilover installation and he offered me good pricing and with his reputation, I figured I'd give him a try. Turns out he does really good work. He's done full turbo installations on my car and since I've switched to a MINI, he's done the coilovers, sway bars, exhausts, you name it. He's done a great job on all the projects I've thrown his way. It's a shame that more people haven't heard of him and his business. Malek did fantastic job with the proper install, he even took his time to get all the proper tq specs on each bolts for gt350 (he usually works on bmws n porsche). I usually don't write reviews. I've tried to accept that things happen and sometimes there are mistakes but I've discovered more little things here and there. I'm extremely picky about who I take my M3 to for service and I only choose to let someone else work on the car if I feel absolutely uncomfortable with the level of work needed to accomplish something. With that being said, all basic maintenance is accomplished by me but I didn't feel confident in my abilities of accomplishing a rod bearing service. After lots of reading reviews and seeing mentions on M3 Post, I decided to go with MRF. The service was finished in a more than timely manner, he was very communicative with me about everything, he even allowed me to watch some of the work, and the price point was GREAT for what I got. Definitely made a lasting impression as someone who knew what they were doing. THE PROBLEM: Considering the fact that an oil change was apart of the service, I didn't change my oil until 5k miles later. When I removed the rear drain plug, I realized that the same exact drain plug I had used prior to the rod bearing service was REUSED. This wouldn't be an issue but the threadings on the rear drain plug were now stripped seemingly from someone using an impact driver to "hurriedly" put it back together. If I wasn't capable, it would have caused me to have to contact him again to repair it which raises flags in my opinion. I've seen other members on the forums say they've had stripped drain plugs which were resolved by them ultimately taking their E9x M3 BACK to him for more business by having a Time Sert installed and repairing the threads. This isn't ok and even if it was coincidental, this raises questions of how often this happens. It's an ongoing issue I'm solving myself. Even more so, I recently did a transmission service. I discovered various fasteners missing from the underbelly, all of which would need to be removed to access the engine. I found remnants of a cloth sandwiched on a motor mount (motor mount replacement is included in the service). If it was a longer cloth, it could have gotten caught in a belt or something rotational. So I give a 3/5. I consider that fair. read more

MRF Is an excellent Shop to say the least. It is the only shop I would ever trust to touch my M3, even more so than any BMW service center. Walking into the shop, I was very impressed as to how clean and orginzed it was, more of a doctors office than a automotive shop. I have had spring installs, exhaust modification and installs, and various other parts modified on my car, all done by MRF. Even though I have free maintenance on my BMW, I still will buy all the fluids myself and have the work done by MRF, so I know that everything will be done correctly, with the people who touch my car caring about it just as much as I do. I was also very impressed at the MRF's new exhaust system, and put one on order as soon as I saw the power numbers and heard the exhaust note. The prices are very competitive and fair as compared to any other shop I have been to. MRF has my business for the long term. read more
