So, the missus and I haven't been to Mr. Jims since the early 2000s when they were still on Ballard. Not really because we didn't like them, it just never crossed our mind at the right time. Oh, we've driven by on lots of occasions and said to each other how we should give them a try, but we have always been just a little wary since there are never many cars outside. But I guessed that maybe there's no indoor seating at this location, and that part is right. Sure, there are some benches outside on a cute little deck if you want to weather the heat, but that's not something I care to do, generally speaking. Fast forward a bit and we saw a few of the ads talking about their new Detroit style with the narrow pans and all the yummy garlic-buttery deliciousness that you would get with all those edges. Curiosity got the better of us. We thought, why not give it a try? We like Detroit-style crust, and then there was that curiosity. Have we been cutting ourselves out of something we would really enjoy? I've seen them on the Slice app when we order take-out from Napoli's, so I tried that first. Detriot style you say? Not on that app. No worries, this is something new. I'm sure they just haven't got the menu update pushed out. Over to their actual web site and voila, Detroit-style is there! I pick their version of supreme, place the order and get a confirmation that would lead you to believe 15-20 minutes until hot, fresh pizza is ready to pick up. Well, if you read the bold print, that's all you would see, they do say "If time is of the essence, please call the store ... for a more specific pick up time." Totally get it. it's an estimate and it can be off. Drive to the store and walk in around the 15 minute mark. Honestly not too worried about it being done at that point, but wanted to be there when it was fresh out of the oven. I really wanted to enjoy this experience! Here's where the interesting kicks in. Mr. HighSchool-I'm-TooCoolForThisJobOrReallyForAnything "greets" me at the counter. I let him know I have an order for pickup and he asks me for my name. I give him my last name and since that didn't seem to garner a reaction of any recognition, I then give my first name too. "It's not ready". Totally fair, I really didn't expect it to be ready yet. The lady working back by the ovens speaks up and lets me know that it'll be about 10-15 minutes, it's the next one she's working on. "Sure, no worries." I stand by the window as I wait, I could've walked out to the truck, but remember I wanted the fresh experience and have the best chance to really like this? Well, Mr. TooCoolForYou just sort of disappears into the back. Ms. ITakeMyJobSuperSerious is clearly frustrated by his total lack of ... well... anything. Honestly, the lumps of dough in that place have more personality than he does. She calls for him, he ignores her, literally walks right by her while she's trying to talk to him and he doesn't give her the time of day. He's got one of those lumps of dough and is clearly not helping out with the fact that they are clearly behind on the orders coming in. You can tell she bears the weight of all of it and takes it very personally. Like, I'm a little worried she's going to break down and cry, have a stroke, or I'll be reading about how a pizza worker was stabbed multiple times in the local news. I'm just there watching this unfold and realizing how much all of this is stressing me out too. Then she calls the boss/owner? She's almost too upset to form sentences. She finishes the call and gets back to the boulder she's been pushing up the hill. I'm sure it has taken a lot for her to get to the point that she can't hold back even though she's got customers there to watch it all unfold. Someone else comes in to get an order. She calls for Mr. TooCoolForYou (my name for him, not hers), he looks out, sees there's a new customer and wanders away. She loses it a little with a blurted out "Seriously???!!!", then trys to regain her composure with not nearly the success she would probably have hoped for. Gets the customer name gets their order, the extra dressing they ask for and gets back to work on orders. Mr. TooCoolForYou is MIA right up until the customer is just about to head out the door. At this point I realize that the 10-15 was not an overestimate like I hoped, but rather more like what she hoped for, but was not going to get near. 25 minutes after getting there the "pizza" (more on that in moment) comes out. Mr. TooCoolForYou pulls it from the oven, boxes, slices and checks if my name is still Brian. I assure him it is and he hands me the box. I'm elated to be walking out of that stress box. The pizza. Is. Underwhelming. Those buttery, garlic-y edges? Crisp, sure, flavorful...no. and the toppings - I get it, she was the only one really working there - were strewn about with glops of sauce in some spots and half the other with none at all. The online ordering was easy to navigate. The price was good for what you get. The pizza was ready on time, and the staff at the restaurant were nice. The pizza tasted good and it was hot and fresh. The only issue would be the amount of toppings. The pizza I ordered was supposed to have double beef (See description on photo) If this is double beef, imagine what single beef would look like. It makes me wonder about other "double" quantities. If I ordered double cheese, would I just be paying extra to get regular cheese? read more

Very tasty pizza! Be patient with delivery because it's a minimum of an hour after you order. (This has consistently been the delivery time the last few times we ordered irregardless of whether it was a weekend or weekday.) Regarding Mr. Jim's staff in Wylie- The delivery drivers are courteous, and the times I've had to call to check on the delivery, the staff was very nice. The orders were mostly right except they forgot the pizza sauce the last two times we ordered the chicken nuggets. All in all a wonderfully cheesy pizza and friendly staff. I really like this particular Mr Jim's for 3 main reasons: Quality of food, Consistency of staff and owners & Cleanliness of their kitchen. Food- I have ordered from here 3 time over the last two months and the food has been hot fresh and delicious. We had the ultimate cheese crust single topper once with pepperoni and twice with beef. Astonishing how much the cheese and crust and toppings blend together. Even better reheated the next day. We also ordered the chicken supreme with garlic Parmesan crust. Once regular and twice thin. Outstanding because of the Alfredo sauce and the fresh bell peppers and onions. Staff- Each time I be called in an order the staff was helpful in connecting me with coupons and specials. On my first order the manager called to confirm my order prior to preparing and delivery here in Wylie. I've done two take outs since and you can tell this is a family business that is working together and working hard to make great food experiences. The only thing that is keeping them from getting 5 stars is the corporate website. It's clunky and frustrating although it may be phone compatibility issues the corporate office needs to get the bugs worked out ASAP. Cleanliness- I mentioned I did pick up to save time and was able to observe the kitchen in action. The kitchen is clean & clear of any clutter. That is something I value very highly is an open and accessible kitchen space for food prep. This is now my go to local, family owned pizza place! read more

Mr Jim's in Wylie is my favorite pizza spot. I am never disappointed. The ingredients are always fresh and the pizza is hot and delicious! We have lived in this area for 21 years and have tried all the chains. For a while they were all ok but for the last year, they have all been tasteless. most look good but for some reason they just have no flavor. A few weeks back we passed Mr Jim's and my husband said, "I used to love Mr Jim's!" We hadn't been since they moved locations. The old location was just... funky. So today I decided to call Mr Jim's from the road and placed an order for a classic Sticky Fingers. It was 20.00 for an XL. That's considerably more than I usually pay. I hoped it was good. It was ready when I arrived and the guy working (I figure he was the manager) was so friendly. Once I got home, my husband was so excited to see if it was as good as he remembered. It WAS! So good! Great crust, perfectly topped and so much flavor. I'm so happy we gave it another go. We will be back. And as for other reviewers... the restaurant industry is experiencing strange times. Late orders are a hassle but not the end of the friggin world. If you order on a busy night, you may get unlucky if they are short staffed. Be kind. read more

They use fresh ingredients in their pizza and it is better than Domino's or Pizza Hut. The service is slow and they are expensive. The Ambiance is meh.. You are better off ordering Papa John's or Marco's. read more

My wife found Mr. Jim's in Arlington, TX. Brought some home and I loved it too. We searched for one near Murphy, TX and found the Wylie store. Same great taste, and the crust varieties are outstanding. The value is extraordinary, they force these discount codes on you ;). Easy to order on line and the people in the store are just great. So my dad waited for my pizza there for over an HOUR after the time they gave me before it would be done. Cars came and got their pizza and went before he got mine he called multiple times and they hung up on my dad TWICE then they had attitude with him saying they were trying to make a hundred pizzas but when I called to place the order the guy told me there was three orders ahead of me... Then when my dad finally got the pizza it was cold and stale like it's been sitting out the entire hour he was sitting there waiting for it! I can't believe the service is so poor and the food is even worse... I love their pizza so I'll probably order from another town if I order mr Jim's again... Ordered pizzas tonight, spoke with the manager on the phone when i ordered the pizzas. Used a coupon they had for 3 large pizzas 3 toppings. When my order arrived it was 2 pizzas. I told the delivery girl it was ok that i will call. When i called and told them i only received 2 pizzas, it was the manager that answered the phone again, the proceeded to tell me the girl put in the wrong code for the coupon. I said SHE didn't, you did. He said it wasn't him, which was a lie. It was him. He then tried to convince me that i only paid for 2 pizzas, which was another lie. My receipt is the amount it would have been for the 3 pizza coupon price. I don't appreciate him lying and then trying to cover his tracks by stating i was only charged for 2 when clearly that was total BS. I wouldn't have even called to order if i could have gotten their online ordering to work. As much as my family loves their pizza this was enough to keep us from ever going back to Mr Jim's. read more
