I want to give no star and in fact want to find a way to sue them. I ordered an expensive TV stand back in April 2023. They took 1/2 payment and did not order my table. Then upon continuous enquiry, they said they goofed up and will order again. They messaged me few weeks ago saying the table is ready and took the rest of the payment. Now they are not responding and looks like the store is closed. This is fraud. I tried calling them and messaging them in all platforms. Karel is the person who defrauded me. This store is absolutely horrible. I would give no stars if yelp would allow. We ordered a couch in July, paid in full, and still haven't received our couch and it is 12/24. I am absolutely appalled. My husband has sent multiple emails asking for an update and Karel has only responded a handful of times with excuse after excuse but no actual update. I think we should all get together and sue the store and her personally at this point. It is complete deception and theft. If you have been scammed by this store and/or Karel directly, please DM me. Mscape Modern is a very dishonest business. Mscape Modern is absolutely not a business that I would recommend. My wife and paid a down payment of $9000 in April 2023. After several verbal promises that our furniture would be delivered in August 2023 then September 2023. We never received our furniture. Thus, I had to take them to small claims courts via a lawyer provided counsel. Mscape was in Walnut Creek, CA. Please stay away from this business and Karel for your furniture needs. read more

Mscape's furniture pieces are good quality but hate to say that their customer service is really really bad. At the time of ordering we would get the response back from Mel within 24hrs. However, once all the furniture was steady ordered and deposit paid the followup was zero. Me and my husband have made numerous calls/ emails but no response for the past 8 months. They have my hefty advance and I'm left with no option but to keep waiting and hoping I'll get my furniture at some point in time in future. Pls be aware. I have been a long time customer of MScape. They were good years ago, but the nightmare started last January when I ordered a Murphy bed and sofa from MScape. I know there has been a lot of logistics issues around the world during the pandemic, but it's been over a year and these guys never update me on the status. I had to call them and chase after their tails multiple times and each time the sales guy said he would call me back. Nothing. He finally only sent one email after over 30 calls I made saying the furniture was likely to be loaded on a ship back in January. Then nothing again. I am trying to get my deposit back and God knows how long that process will be or if they would even take care of their customers. These guys act like they don't have internet or phone service. But they def have credit card machines that work to take your money ASAP. After they charge you, they don't deliver the product and you can keep calling them and texting them but you won't hear back as if they are an ex that blocked you. Chanced upon Mscape while waiting to be seated at Turtle Tower (not satisfying!) since it was just a few skippy skips down the road. And there we found our awesome couch that I am currently melted into as I type this review. Anyway, it's a small space with a variety of floor pieces, but tons of catalogs and etc to go through. However, the real kicker is the devastatingly handsome Nathan whose eyes get me real fucking lost every time I look into them. I'd probably buy 10 couches from him if my credit card didn't have a limit. My Baekfriend has a major crush on him too, so we wind up there on random weekend afternoons all misty eyed and googly more often than you'd think possible. We love Mscape! We had been looking for a sofa for a while. Amelia went out of her way to spend time with us and figure out what we were looking for. Although there were many fabric choices, we were hoping for a slightly different color. Amelia pulled fabrics from another supplier for us. She was able to get us the fabric we wanted on the design we loved. The storefront is very comfortable. I am not a shopper, and I often dread the experience, but Amelia and her staff are so welcoming and relaxed. It was a great experience, and we will be heading back soon for our next furniture purchase. Definitely recommend. read more

Great experience with Mscape. I got Flor tiles from them as they were one of the few local dealers that had the product. There was a bit of an issue with my order but Nathan was able to resolve it right away. He was also really helpful with suggestions for my situation. My only FLOR tip would be to not get the tiles cut from the company unless you know for sure they are configured the right way. read more

Avoid Mscape! you will regret the day you ever purchased something from this store. This store has the worst customer service and the owner Steve is unresponsive. I should have taken the review from 2009 more seriously, since I can confirm this store has the worst customer service from any furniture store I have experienced in the Bay Area. I purchased a Nicoline Italian sofa from MScape, but while my experience in store was a positive one, afterwards the nightmare begins. They completely forget about you, customer service is nonexistent, and I regret ever dealing with MScape. My whole experience with Mscape and dealing directly with the owner Steve has been absolutely awful. I have had to continually chase after him by sending emails and calling the store numerous times to get any kind of status about my order, waiting weeks for a response each time. The owner seems to be on vacation or out on business continuously and when I call the store none of the employees is able to help me with my order, since I'm told that Steve is dealing with it directly. After over 4-months of waiting I finally received a response from Steve that the Nicoline sofa was delayed due to leather quality not meeting the standards...I would be more forgiving about these delays if Mscape would have notified me earlier about potential delays, and not having me wait over 4+ months, expecting the sofa to already be delivered and then find out it hasn't even shipped yet from Italy. I guess the saga continues until I can cancel and receive a full refund for my order...Never again will I purchase anything from Mscape. read more

It was on the other hand one of the nicest furniture stores in SF both in the quality of their product and the 3 great people working there. I'll be back to shop for home. Where do I begin. I walked in here with my husband (well boyfriend at that time) on a whim. We are a huge fan of unique, multi-use, and modern furniture. The day we came here, there was two workers and both were really busy speaking with other clients so we browsed on our own. Found an awesome table that we totally fell in love with. It did take a bit of time for a worker to free up but once she was ready to give her full attention to us. We asked a gazillion questions and has received great answers. She even recommended another table that would be more fitting and did I say I fell in love with another table earlier, i totally lied! I'm now head over heals with this one. Literally walked in, walked around, asked questions and within 30 minutes came out with a couple thousand short in our wallets with our table that is being shipped from Italy. We are still so in love with our purchase. We purchased an expandable table that can seat anywhere from 2 to 12 people comfortably and it can also be converted to a dinner/coffee/art table (yes the table can stand to waist level if needed. We purchased this approximately 2 years ago. Reason for my delay in review is because I wanted to make sure the table actually holds its value. Initially we were a bit hesitant because we were afraid the mechanism of sliding it up/down and side ways will lose it's hold and eventually collapse. So far, we are still pleased with the table. Still lifts with no struggle, does a great job when we are hosting parties and still raises high enough for hubby to look at his blue prints standing up without having to hurt his back. Will definitely come back for more great art pieces. I do consider some furniture to be art pieces but they are not just for looks but for comfort as well =) read more

Bonnie and another female associate were extremely rude... on one occasion in the store while looking at the furniture the female associate essesntially ignored my questions and was more interested in the sales man trying to sell her some thing than making a sale. And then there's Bonnie's phone etiquette and coordinateation skills...,at best a 2 out of 10. NOT HELPFUL when trying to coordinate the delivery, and rude. Both were extremely unhelpful and not pleasant to work with AT ALL and shouldnt be in the sales business. Once i received the furniture, it wasn't what i ordered. I let Mason know this and there has been no follow up, courtesy call, compenstation, or status update (day 3). won't shop here again and advise you to do the same. read more

I ordered something in 2014 - most of the order was perfect, but some wrong parts arrived from Italy. After lots of back and forth with the sales rep, the matter was never resolved. Years later I reached out again to try to order the right parts, but MScape had stopped carrying that brand. The current general manager, Mel, reimbursed me for the wrong item. It took a while, more back and forth, but the check finally arrived. Very much appreciate Mel's attention and customer service. read more

Beautiful store, and beautiful window-display. I walk by here two or three times a week on my way to work, and I almost always see something amazing. Recently, it was the fire-hose rugs, which I instantly fell in love with. It took several days for me to schedule a lunch-hour to visit the store when it was actually open (10 - 6), but Amelia was gracious, friendly and knowledgable, and I immediately became a fan of the store. My husband and I stopped by the store after noticing the space saving furniture ads in the window. We saw the video online for this type of furniture at http://www.resourcefurniture.com/ and thought we'd stop by the showroom in NY when we go there in fall. What a nice surprise to come across a showroom here on the west coast. We did our usual crate barrel, room & board and other furniture shops stops, but the gentleman we meant at mscape (Daniel) was very polite, informative and helpful. We found a perfect couch we can use for our office and will definitely be back. MScape's prices were comparable and Daniel was very upfront about costs and timelines for ordering. We had been shopping for a sofa. About 3 months into the process we had narrowed it down to about 2, when we happened upon Mscape. We both liked one particular sofa in the store, but needed a different fabric option. We took fabric samples home a couple of times after we discovered our first choice at the store was never going to work in our house. We finally made a choice and ordered the sofa. The sofa arrived on schedule, a fawless experience. Working with both Daniel and Nathaniel was very enjoyable and professional. Unfortunately, somewhere in the process the $150 delivery charge was overlooked (shame on us for not asking), so we were a bit surprised when the very professional delivery guy ask for his fee. I'm crazy about my new chair from Mscape. When Mel asked me what I was looking, I told him '....a modern, diminutive, comfortable, swivel chair, ideally with a head and foot rest'. He hit the bulls-eye when he directed me to the Himolla Aura recliner. I ordered it in an off-white leather with a black base. Not only is it gorgeous, but it doesn't look like a recliner, and it is super comfy for me, and friends and family of all heights. It took a while to get here from Germany, but it was definitely worth the wait. I am grateful that I stumbled onto Mscape and Mel! read more

I am a very picky buyer.... looking for the Best products at Competitive prices. For me Mscape was a one stop shop! After visiting many many stores for contemporary furniture (which is not as easily available at affordable prices) I finally chose Mscape to be my store. I ordered all of my Living room furniture through them. They carry a range of Top Quality Designers, so you can find a huge variety and put it all together to create your own unique space. My pieces were ordered from Italy, Canada, Southern CA. The other advantage I felt was that they carry a few pieces from each vendor so that you can actually touch and feel the quality of products... It is almost impossible to shop online for furniture as there are too many surprises once the product arrives. I did have a situation like that and Msacpe went above and beyond to replace my dining table. I have been dealing with Mason and he is extremely patient and considerate. He has gone out of his way each time to satisfy my demands. As I continue to look for more pieces for my house, I keep re-visitng Mscape with the hope that they will have something for me. read more

Amelia was super helpful too, making creative suggestions. Nicole took over while we waited 6 weeks for delivery. When delivery was delayed, Nicole went the extra mile to do all she could to rescue the situation - I was amazed by how creative the Mscape team was in finding a satisfactory solution! Awesome experience. I purchased a beautiful Clei Italian Wallbed unit from Mscape. Amelia, Mason, and Nicole were great and very helpful every step of the way, from first visit all the way through post-install. The final result looks amazing and it was absolutely the ideal space and style solution for a small SF studio. Their team deserves much of the credit for that. The product lines, knowledge, and ideas from the team at Mscape are all terrific. There was a slight timeliness issue with one of their 3rd party suppliers for the mattress of my unit, but it was not Mscape's fault and they made every reasonable effort to follow-up tirelessly and finally get it solved. I had a change this weekend to go shopping with my wife and discovered this modern furniture store in the Soma area. Walked in and feel in love with the products that were shown on the floor. Everything was made to match our style of living and they offer custom made furniture Made in the USA. My wife just loves this store, we almost did not come as we just finished looking at Room and Board. The styling at Room and board has gone very American Contemporary, as we are looking for a more European Contemporary furniture. I will definitely come back when we are ready to order. Lastly, they have a wonderful sales staff. Would recommend to anyone that loves European Contemporary furniture. read more

Horrible experience! My order was delivered 3 months late, and even worse, incomplete. It took ANOTHER 4 months before the owner (who was the person that screwed up the order in the first place), refunded the money on the unshipped furniture. I had to engage a lawyer and threaten lawsuit to just recover a full refund. While MScape offers competitive pricing, the discount does not offset the incompency and headache that you have to deal with. Overall my experience is that the customer service is none-existent, and the owner is very unprofessional if not borderline dishonest. Potential buyers beware, shop at your own risk. read more

They took the time to help us find the perfect pieces (bought a sofa, chair, side table, and FLOR from them for remodeled condo). Products were with custom-ordered fabrics, well manufactured, and arrived on time or sooner (the sofa was ready for delivery before we could even move in, but they held it for us, no hassles). Huge value is their delivery service. It's cheaper than competitors and is *great* white-glove service. We visited the store in the city after narrowing down our options and Mason was there to help us make the final decision. He answered all my questions and explained the complicated procedure for mounting the furniture to the wall. He even negotiated the price for delivery and installation for me. I have never had a more professional experience any where. They are hard working professional honest up front. NO SURPRISES. They helped me find exactly what I wanted at a price point that I was comfortable with. Sure, they have some very high end stuff... but they can help you get something that looks incredible without the huge price tag too. I bought a couch from a picture and ended up not liking the "triangular shaped" back cushions (which you couldn't tell from the pictures) -- they had all the cushions remade for me at virtually no cost. It is the ONLY place I would buy a couch in SF. If you are on a really really tight budget, they won't be for you but if you are looking at C&B or Room & Board, they are no different as far as prices or options and are certainly MUCH MUCH better in customer service. They even made a custom couch for me that was extra large, had an extra leg added in the middle for support and delivered it in something crazy like 3 weeks... for just over $2K. Seriously?
