After visiting many small showrooms for granite in the Reno-Sparks area, we visited MSI in Hayward. We were amazed at the incredible selection of granite and marble. Yesenia Garcia provided excellent customer service, giving us uninterrupted time to look then checked in to see if we were interested in having any slabs pulled out to view. Once we selected our slabs, she assisted us with selecting tile for the backsplash. We returned home the same day and had already received a call from our local stone and tile supplier stating they had received notification from MSI that we had selected granite. The coordination was astonishing. MSI delivers to our area which helped keep the process simple. I can't say enough about the service and selection. read more

They have beautiful tiles but always read the fine details and get samples to see for yourself. I bought a lot of pool coping and outdoor pavers which are beautiful but if you're going for a modern seamless look you won't achieve it with the Arterra line because the coping and pavers are slightly different sizes and different colors. Customer service in India and delivery is some sort of cruel joke. Be prepared to make about 30 phone calls and be on that delivery truck helping the one clueless delivery guy unload your thousands of pounds becuase each pallet broke. MSI loads to much weight onto each pallet then delivery can't use the hand truck to off load them. Of course nobody will take responsibility for this, so unless your paver company picks them up, maybe you want to skip their delivery affiliates. You'll also never be guaranteed a delivery time, could be weeks, who knows... that's when the 30 phone calls come in. Good luck! read more

Damn. I have to give a star? There isn't a zero star option? OK, fine. 1 star. Where do I begin? First, let me give women an analogy that was given to me that helped me understand bargain shopping for kitchen counter stone. I'm Asian and I shop online so I'm the queen of bargain shopping. I went to at least 15 different bay area stoneyards from fancy to bare bones. I originally wanted to find Super White because I wanted the Carrera look without the maintenance. And I wanted one that really looked like Carrera so I went all over looking at tons of slabs. MSI was by far the cheapest. So here's what I learned the hard way and will help put things in perspective (at least for women). So you can buy a GIA-certified diamond that is perfect in color with no inclusions with a perfect cut, and it would be expensive. Or you can get a diamond that to the naked eye looks OK (only inclusions if you look under a microscope) and is less white but who can tell when it's on your hands, right? So how many women have the cheap diamond? Well, one stone place made this analogy for me and that totally changed things for me. There is definitely a quality difference, and a kitchen stone is a stone nonetheless just as an engagement ring is a stone. So unless you're OK with the crappy engagement ring (in which case why not just go for quality CZ?), don't buy the crappy kitchen counter stone. Especially after you're going to pay your contractor a hefty fabrication and installation fee and it's not like you can just change it next week! I was initially drawn to MSI due to the cheaper price. We actually went to their SoCal headquarters that had more selection and chose our perfect slabs. Well, first sign that this was not working is that I purchased about 140 sq ft and they tried to charge me for 200. Since they deal only with contractors and not directly with the client, I signed the selection sheet and my contractor was paying the bill. So when he showed me the invoice, the number caught my eye! We called them up and asked them what hoax they were trying to pull and they told us it was an accident and they would correct it. OK, fair enough. Accidents happen. So then our slabs got delivered to the fabricator who called me immediately and told me I had bought cheap stone and that the stone was cracked straight through. I thought he was exaggerating so I left work early and went to go check it out. Well, turns out he knows what he's doing. It was cracked from the top of the slab all the way down to the bottom of the slab, and straight from front to the back where you can see it even through the netting that was holding it together. And not 1 slab- three out of our four slabs!!!!! I took a photo on my iphone and had my husband call them immediately while I went emergency stone shopping that afternoon since we needed to find a new stone that weekend or our whole project would be delayed. STRESS. MSI offered to give us a refund. It took about 2-3 weeks to process. When it was processed, we noticed a price discrepancy. We basically had paid them $700 for some bathroom floor tile and a prefab for the bathroom counter. This seemed wrong. So apparently they had refunded us the slabs but NOT the $150 delivery fee. Really??!? Did i really pay them $150 to crack my slabs and try to pass them off as OK to me? We called and they said they don't refund delivery fees since that's a service charge. After much yelling and my telling them that I did not pay them to crack my slabs, they finally agreed to refund the $150 but it would take another couple weeks. Fine. But then my contractor called and said they needed the shower pebble tile and where was it? I called MSI and they said they delivered it to my contractor. A guy with a name my contractor never heard of signed for it. So my pebbles were delivered to God-knows-who and now I again have one day to find replacement!!! I ended up paying a premium for pebble tile from another store and my contractor drove 2 hours to Santa Cruz to go get it that day so as not to delay our project since MSI messed up. So weeks later we finally get the refund for the pebble tile. Weeks gone, lots of stress, and lots of shitty stone that cannot even stand the transit in their specialized trucks that move slabs. I had to get slabs elsewhere and was too scared of Super White to get it again. So I went with a really hard quartzite but I was told by other stoneyard that it's not the Super White that sucked, but rather the low quality of the stone we got from MSI that is the problem. Who knows? After 3/4 slabs were cracked in delivery, I wasn't going to take a chance with marble. I LOVE my current quartzite (from DaVinci) and wish I would have skipped the bargain shopping and saved myself time and stress. Bargain shopping for a dress online? Do it! Bargain shopping for your kitchen counter? Save yourself the time and trouble. read more

My wife and I spent over 3 hours looking at granite slabs at MSI. Everytime we found something we liked we had to then search for someone to help us and then wait for someone to move it for viewing. We'd point out cracks and they'll say "Yeah. Don't get that one." Then we repeated this process 2 more times. One of the slabs we finally chose aparently broke after we saw it and rather than telling us what happened and giving us the choice to look for another slab, they re-calculated the square footage so we thought one of the slabs was smaller than we realized. We didn't see the broken slab until a few months later since the fabricator was the one who had them picked up from MSI. When you spend $7000 for granite slabs they should give better customer service. We even went on a weekday when they said they wouldn't be as busy. read more

Wow! MSI has a great selection of granite; I was able to get exactly what I needed for my kitchen remodel on my first visit. The staff there are truly amazing and can help you with product selection to assure you achieve the perfect look and quality to last a life time. As I browsed through all of the flooring options and back splash displays I was greeted a few times by helpful staff members to offer assistance. Very nice experience for a change because I'm usually running down isles chasing guys in aprons trying to find anyone that can/will help. Anywho choosing something as permanent as counter tops is a task in itself so it was really nice to have professional advice/assistance when pulling the trigger. My advice to you is to plan to spend some time there. Once you choose your granite they will pull slabs so you can choose exactly what pieces you want. Staff members will help you look for deficiencies if any on your slab so you choose the perfect piece. TWO THUMBS UP!!! read more

I have gone to several places searching for counter tops for my kitchen. The selection at MS International was by far the best. I know I was there on a Tuesday when it was fairly quiet so my experience may not be the same as someone going on a crowded weekend but I got excellent one on one service. When I found the stone I liked they immediately offered to pull out the three slabs I would need so I could look more closely. At the other places I visited they acted like it was a huge problem to allow me to see the entire stone before purchasing! read more

When we ordered some stones from this place they claimed that they have them all in stock in their Orange headquarter and it'll only take a couple of days to get them. When we went pick up on the following week, they only had 1/3 of our orders ready, claiming that the rest didn't make it to the first truck and it'll only be another day for them to show up. A week had gone passed, no phone call to follow up with us on the status of our order. When we finally called, whoever answered the phone said she had no idea what our order status was and the one who did know never return our phone calls. Another few days passed, we called again and finally talk to that someone who supposed to know the status. She then claimed that there is computer error on their system and our order is never shipped completely from their Orange headquarter. WHAT??? Are you kidding me? So for the past two weeks, they've been just lying to us, claiming that the stones were being shipped which were never even loaded into their truck. We then got hold of the logistic manager who suggested that the stones were not even in stock at all, and they need to ship it from New Jersey and it'll take another 5-7 days. We are so pissed now that our whole project is on hold because of this! I highly recommend AGAINST this place for your stone purchase especially when you need to be on a tight schedule. This place has some of the best stone we saw and is also extremely well organized. They moved stones around for us to match our choices. They like to work with fabricators and designers only and so the quality of service depends on rep one gets. Some of the reps are just superb and we were lucky to get Jeet. One of the reps scared off our fabricator with fairly rude talk and rash behavior. We got all our stone and tiles in time but there were a few issues along the way but nothing unexpected when putting in a large total order of multiple varieties of stone and tile. Prices here are low compared to other sellers since they wholesale to sellers. We also found that they have great picks of the same stone type many times. read more

Unbelievably helpful employees from the front office to the knowledgeable granite personnel in the warehouse to the hard working granite movers. Everyone was so kind in answering our millions of questions. We were there for hours scouring the slabs and they nicely allowed us to bring our small dog in since it was warm out and help yourself coffee, water, etc. whenever we had the desire. Most refreshing after being passed off by Melinda who didn't seem to care about our dilemma or want to bother with us after checking inventory. It's challenging to try to explain in a few short sentences our situation and the miracle Ron performed. Briefly: My Husband and I needed to re-purchase 2 granite slabs after a tragic mishap by our Fabricator. We were desperate to find replacement slabs as close to the originals since the entire kitchen remodel was based around our granite color scheme. Ron took pity and was extremely compassionate and thought outside the box of ways he could help us. Ron asked his manager Rachel (who also deserves a shout out) to see if any of the slabs on hold were eligible to be released ***knowing this was the only way we could get the same match, from the same lot we had originally purchased. Ron made several phone calls and after an hour of waiting--found us 4 gorgeous slabs to choose from. He is a saint! We are forever grateful. This is a great place. Lots of inventory, knowledgeable sales people, and good pricing overall. I suggest calling ahead and making an appointment to make sure all your questions get answered. At our fabricator's recommendation, we worked exclusively with Vanessa Gonzales who was amazing! Vanessa squeezed us in a weekend and spent lots of time with us looking at different materials. Vanessa was able to get us samples of all our top picks helping to make our final decision making process both easier and faster. By our second visit, Vanessa helped us secure 5 beautiful slabs for our kitchen remodel. I recommend both Vanessa and MS International highly without reservation. read more

We were in a bind as a contractor who had ordered tile for us did not order enough for the job and also didn't order any bullnose. M S International was able to bail us out of the problem by selling us enough tile to finish the job and some bullnose that went with the tile. Rita processed the transaction for us. Yes it's not cheap but their selection is huge compared to small shops around the bay. And if they don't Have what you want or looking for, they can ship it from another warehouse pretty quick. Since the selection is so big, stopping by before heading to a party is not a smart idea. On our first visit we spent 3 hours just deciding on a which slab to go with and another hour looking at the very cuts to whittle down to a selection of 3. So make sure you have time. If you have to drag the kids there, recommend you bring something that can hold their attention. Like an iPad or iPod. Yes if you live behind gates, Then at first glance the staff might startle you but they are all extremely friendly! Marie was amazing, willing to guide us and a wealth of ideas. Plus she's knows all the do's and dont's. If your not hiring a designer for what ever the project might be, the staff will help you the best they can. But your not paying them to design. You are paying for that stone to be cut and shipped from countries all over the world. Ours happens to be from Brazil. Also, the entrance is clearly marked with a staircase and ramp in front of it. The reviewer who commented they walked into a dangerous area, is blind and didn't notice the signs placed on either side of the 3 loading areas. read more

Very organized and easy to go through all the products that are on display. The variety is more than the average stone/tile place. We were greeted by a sales associate who was very welcoming and friendly. She signed us in and went over all the different products they had. We looked through all the slabs and found a few we liked but not exactly what we wanted. Unfortunately the associate assisting us initially went to lunch so Lily took over. We told her we liked certain qualities of the 2 slabs we wrote down and asked if there was a slab that would have those qualities/design/color all together. She pretty much said no. And that was it. She didn't bother to get out of her seat to look at the slabs we were interested in nor did she try to clarify what we were looking for so we said thank you and left. Not sure if she's new and not knowledgeable or was she just having a bad day, but I expected a little more customer service. We even made it clear that our contractor had an account there so that she knows we aren't just walk-in customers that aren't able to make a purchase since they don't sell to the public. I spent a good part of the afternoon at MS International looking for a slab for a kitchen project. I was lucky enough to do business with Kaneisha Revels, customer service rep. She was very thorough, very helpful and knowledgeable about the different products. The showroom was beautiful, well organized and very easy to navigate around the huge slabs of product. The staff was personable and helpful and most of all they went out of their way to help me find the perfect stone for my kitchen. Do consider MS International when doing a remodel of any kind. We called ahead to make sure they had the stone we were looking for in stock, before we drove the 50 miles to Hayward to buy it. They assured us they did have it, and shared their operating hours. When we arrived, we were told by an incredibly rude teenager running the front desk, that they don't sell to "the public", did we have an appointment, and that we would only be able to buy from them if we had a licensed contractor along. Thanks for telling us that when we called! The teenager at the front desk finally obliged to let us see what they had on the floor, but it was a complete waste of time. We ended up coming home, ordering the slate we needed on stonelocator.com, and it was delivered to our door, without complaint or dealing with ridiculously rude sales people, within a few days. Walked into their showroom and was pleasantly surprised at how bright, modern and clean it was. I was expecting a dark, dingy warehouse! Employees were there at the front entrance counter to welcome customers and to offer their help. I went on a Saturday to look for backsplash tiles and it became quite busy around 11:30, but by 12:30, it had almost all cleared out and I got undivided attention from Steve, who was great and gave me his honest opinion about the choices I was contemplating. They even have a very fancy coffee/latte/cappuccino machine. My two suggestions to management would be: 1. add half & half to the coffee bar (that powder stuff just doesn't "do" it!); and 2. make sure the sample drawers are fully supplied. All eight backsplash samples I wanted to take home were not in the drawers. I had to ask Angelica to get them from the back while I waited and some she couldn't find. The experience was very productive and pleasant. I like that they aren't trying to "sell" anything so I felt comfortable to stay as long as I needed without being hounded by a salesperson which would have driven me away. Will definitely go back and to recommend them to friends. read more

Not impressed. Went there on a Saturday noonish on the advice of Thomas from "The Granite Encounter (www.thegraniteencounter,com) - Awesome customer service - we'll probably go with him. Anyway, found parking in MSI's large lot and walked carefully around the forklift transferring product to a really big truck. Hmmm. not sure where I'm supposed to be - don't want to freak anyone out. Found the front desk - a rent-a-guard looking dude escorted me to another "front desk" a little more into the warehouse. An employee behind the desk/ enclosure thingie was working with another couple who were asking her 1) what's up with your showroom (that takes about 5 minutes to explain that it's not happening right now) and then (2( another 5 or so minutes for her to explain to them where they need to look for backsplashes. Sorry - ran out of time. Had to get to a Surprise birthday party for myself. Was hoping I could case the place in 30 min to deterime if I wanted to come back for a more deailed look-see or cross it off my list, but I couldn't get past the gatekeeper for the first 10. Dang! My husband and I are remodeling our kitchen and were at the point of choosing a countertop. We visited a well established Quartz manufacturer and were leaning towards using Quartz. We then decided to go to MSI in Hayward, CA and take a look at natural stone. When we walked into the place we were greeted by a very friendly staff. They give you a quick rundown of how there stone is laid out in the warehouse and they give you a clipboard with paper and pencil to make notes as you walk through (it really is the little things in life sometimes that make us happy). While we were looking an employee of MSI named Rita J. started to help us. She was so knowledgeable and patient with us, she explained the many different types of stone, there applications, and her opinion from many years in the business. We decided on a beautiful natural stone and she worked diligently with our fabricator so we all were happy....with price, service, and most importantly - Product. I don't know who owns this business, but whoever you are, you do an outstanding job! The warehouse is huge, the inventory is excellent, the showroom immaculate and beautiful. Fresh ground coffee complimentary! As soon as you walk in, you sign in at an Ipad and the entire process is organized and smooth. An employee meets with you to ask your interest and escort you to the warehouse to let you see and handle the product. I was looking for a stone façade for my carport and they had so many real stone options. I was in heaven. I wondered to myself, how could I have not known about this business sooner? How could my contractors in the past have kept this from me, or not known themselves? I have told everyone I know. I displayed 3 samples of rock face options in my carport to get my neighbors' viewpoints, and we all agree, the product is beautiful. MSI is not very near Southern Marin, but well, well worth the trip. Start here and save yourself from wandering around Marin looking for something that will make your home exceptional. read more

We are doing a kitchen remodel and looking for a very special slab of granite. Not only does it need to be larger than most slabs, we also wanted it to have a wow factor. After going to several other places, we ended up driving about 30 minutes to MS International. We knew immediately that this place was different. We were asked to check in and there are many examples of products and ideas in the lobby area. We then explored what seem to be endless racks of granite slabs. It is clear this place deals with a lot of volume because what is on the floor represents less than half of what is waiting in the wings. There were so many choices of all different levels and they seemed to be grouped by color and by type of stone. After narrowing our choices, Sunil (the Senior Manager) approached us and offered to assist us. It was nice being able to explore the stone on our own but having someone immediately attentive when we were ready. He narrowed our choices down based on size and connected us to a wonderful salesman, Rob. He spent so much time with us and we enjoyed his company! The facility is amazing and is the only place I know of where they are able to move the stones around immediately so you can see and compare several slabs side by side. We ended up asking them to move one slab from one lot onto another aisle to compare it to two stones in a different lot. They didn't act as if that was a problem and within 15 minutes, we were putting our perfect slabs on hold. Rob really went above and beyond to make the process easy, enjoyable, and we felt we left more educated than we arrived. As we were leaving, Sunil approached us again, asking about our experience since he had finished his appointment with a customer. We were so impressed with every aspect of MS International: the staff, the layout, the display, the selection, the ease with which you can compare slabs, the speed they work, the safety, and the price. Our fabricator called with a price that was less than what we expected and more than 25% less than the retail at another business. We will be back to purchase the rest of the pieces for our project! read more
