What happened to the Mt. Chalet 1 (visit 7 mile). Mt. Chalet II is a local favorite bar and restaurant. Gets very crowded on the weekends and the drunks will get upset with the moose once in a while. The staff is very lively and the crowd gets very social. Good place for last call. read more

Good place to meet up with friends to grab a quick bite. My friends and I all ordered different burgers from the menu, and they were pretty delicious. I wish I could give this place 3.5 stars instead of 3. If the place wasn't so crowded, I might have even given this place a 4. Our food was delicious and they have a decent beer selection. I like that they offer Piedmontese beef. I just didn't think their prices were all that good for being a "dive bar". My favorite little Gem. Located on Woodward Ave at the border of Royal Oak and Birmingham. The Chalet has been around a long time and used to be a brothel upstairs back in the day day. I live down the street, so my review may be biased. The staff is friendly, and treats you proper, the drinks are strong (Mt. Chalet Grade) This place is a sports bar, so they're busy during games and events. This a great place to watch a game. The crowd is typically in their 40s to 60s, so it's not young and rowdy by any means. The Bar is a very good place to start up conversations with random people. I often wander up there. The food is also satisfying. The Piedmontise burgers are great, the southern style Chicken tenders (my personal favorite) This is a white meat breast cut, breaded and fried. Nothing out of a box. Mount chalet keeps it interesting in the kitchen with more than the classic bar food. Any Mexican dishes on special.....get them you will not be disappointed. Was there on a Sunday night; there were 8 people in the whole place , yet I was amazed how difficult it was for the waitress to find the time to check on me. I stayed to eat because the food is good, but it continued to become a drag since the waitress(short, dumpy girl with cut off shorts that were pretty gross) was too preoccupied with her phone and giggling with a patron at the bar. Service has been terrible each time I have ever gone. Enter through the back lot and get ignored. No system for seating patrons. They are understaffed and with poorly trained staff. There's always a crowd of loud drunk regulars at the bar. It gets a second star because my wife likes the food. But we never dine there any longer. read more

Horrible. Live 2 miles from here and this last experience forced me to place a review. 35 min wait for food, over cooked, and slow service. The excuse was a 10 top when there was empty seats!! This place has gone down hill, drive a fee more miles and go to the Vinsetta garage where they actually care about service and reviews. read more

All of their salads are delicious. Try the Kale salad. The fried egg on top is the perfect addition.

This is one of my favorite "dive bars", though I think it is a lot classier than your average dive bar. The food is made fresh and is always delicious. Some of my favorites are the Tommy Tomato, the Seared Ahi Tuna Sliders, the Spinach Salad and the Sweet Potato Fries. Service is usually prompt and friendly, but it slows down a bit when it is super crowded. The bartenders know how to mix some amazing cocktails too. read more

This place is one of my favorites! The food is amazing as is the service. I have yet to try something on the menu that wasn't delicious. Last week I went for Brunch for the first time. The waitress was incredible, I didn't catch her name though. I had the chicken & waffles for brunch and it was the best chicken and waffles I've ever had. I drive by the Chalet every single day heading to work...my husband has, on numerous occasions, made suggestions to stop for a drink and I very loudly said--NO. I don't know why I was so put off by the looks of this place? I am not against going to small neighborhood bars for a beer and a bite to eat. So, I finally decided we should go...primarly after reading some of the reviews here! It was great! We sat outside and enjoyed everything about the place...the service was great, the food was very fresh and hot; great french fries. Overall...it was very good and we would go again. Why not a five stars...my burger was not all that...I got the peidmontese (sp?) burger for $2 more and well, it was not as juicy and flavorful as I expected. read more

Great little neighborhood bar/restaurant with really good reasonably priced food, much better than most bars in the area. Exceptional bartender service! Megan took care of us and she was so great. I had the bean burger and wife got a regular burger and an order if fries which is plenty for 2 to share. Beer selection is good with rotating crafts on tab and plenty others to choose from in can or bottle. Service was very good too. Toppings, other than the basics, were ala carte at .80 cents each. This used to be a great secret, but word got out on this little gem. Excellent cuisine, no matter what you order. I personally like the steak salad. And always order the bacon wrapped, stuffed jalepenos even if we are just drinking. Great staff. Great place to catch a game, lots of TV's. The chalet salad is my go to! I love this place, but do prefer carry out. The service is less than great. They seem to always just be a little too busy! As a table of two, we often feel less "important" to our server as the larger groups. The atmosphere is great, but definitely a tight squeeze! Me and my wife came here to take a break from our usual Sunday burger at ye old saloon. By the name of the place it sounded semi fancy so I called to set up a reservation. The lady who answered the phone started off pleasant until I asked to make a reservation, then she proceeded to laugh at me! She said "honey this is a bar not a high class restaurant" so I went there anyway just to see how crappy this place was because so far the service sucked. I got a burger of course and a few beers, the burger was over cooked, beer tasted watered down (tap beer) Andy fries were cold. Our server was fine bit never came back to refill my wife's drink. First time. Service desperately awful. Greeted well then ignored. Had to ask for beer list. Food came in a reasonable time but was lukewarm,like it had sat in the kitchen for awhile. We both ordered some burgers, which given the many bun and ingredient options,we had high hopes for. They were decently cooked but lackluster. Missing some ingredients. We also ordered the garlic parmesan french fries...frozen fries with shredded parmesan and globs of cold RAW garlic. Could taste nothing else for the rest of the meal. Decor would have been really nice if the Christmas decorations were not so overdone, kind of a nice, quaint, cozy bar feel. It was pretty drafty. read more

We had by far the absolute worst service I've ever experienced during our visit on 8/9/13. It was the dinner rush and they were very busy but that does not excuse our server completely ignoring us. After seating us and bringing our first round of drinks our server completely ignored our table and the one next to us. She never once checked on us without us having to wave her over and even then she was rude and would walk away before we could finish our order. As a former high-volume server and manager I'm probably more forgiving than the average patron but this was inexcusable. To make matters worse she disappeared for almost 35 minutes (not an exaggeration) so we had to start ordering from the bar. While waiting to pay for the drinks I kept getting bumped into and then shoved, I turn around and it's our server already off-shift and intoxicated, flirting with the patrons. No one even told us she was transferring the table or came by the check on us! If we hadn't been there to see our friends play in a band we would've left almost immediately. This is the first time I've ever taken the opportunity to post a bad review but I just can't let it rest. I'm sure there are many redeeming qualities of this establishment and that there are some good servers on staff but what we experienced was enough to say we will never go back. read more

IMO the Maurice salad was a joke at $11! Shredded lettuce with tiny bits of turkey and ham. No olives and barely any dressing. They were out of two beers requested by our group. Great pretzels and service. read more
