We saw they have a chicken Tikka pizza so that was the primary reason we visited the restaurant. We found out it's only for online order and not on their regular menu but they were super nice to make it for us for dine in. The pizza has a lot of cheese. Some cilantro and fresh onions would've added a nice element. It's even better if you dip it in their makhani sauce. The everest biryani comes with chicken, shrimp, and lamb. Great food, very cute atmosphere. If you're not into spice, please let them know that ahead of time while ordering. Definitely bring drinks before hand if you want them as it's BYOB as of late 2025. Overall a very pleasant experience, amazing naan, amazing entrees too. just make sure you are vocal with them when asking for additional rice. read more

We visited on a Saturday given the return of the buffet since the pandemic. It was 1:15 p.m. when we came in and there were only two other small parties. Price is now $19/person (before the pandemic, yes 5 years ago, servers would just let her ride free on our two adult charges) and that may be keeping folks away for lunch but a lot of items weren't quite warm enough (even the naan that came to the table). I know it's a tough balance between keeping things warm and not having them dry out. Can understand that prices in Evanston can't be what they were back in 2020, so, just food temp alone was the loss of one star. Setting and service is nice as it always was. read more

Service you can book online, give them a call or walk-in. They are very grateful and I'll get you in right away. As well, they are so so kind people very kind hearted folks. Everyone is so nice like the service here is more beyond where you can find any other service from any other restaurant. They have very big heart and caring. Ambience it can get a little bit loud, but it's still tone down, so it is good place where you can have a good conversation with your friends. Your family or anyone 100% is a good spot. Food is across the point of every border. Perfectionist amazing, unique taste of quality. The texture is fantastic. It's not too salty. It's not too sweet. It is Perfect flavours. My favourite time is coming during the lunch hour, which is a amazing buffet as well. You can still order on the menu during lunch hour if you want something else. Yes, it is vegetarian friendly. We before a show in evanston. Place could use an interior update. Went 6p had to wait just a little got filled up shortly after. Staff was friendly, a bit understaffed. Food was very good we had the samosa, chicken biryanii, the lamb vindaloo and the garlic naan. They were all delicious. The biryani was the best of the group, well spiced and almost floral, will be remembered. They did not serve alcohol even though it was on the menu. You can can byob. It has been a long time since I have been to Mt Everest and was surprised that they have become a BYOB restaurant. The bar is on premises but maybe they have lost their liquor license?? The Nepali cuisine did not disappoint. We ordered the Tadka dal and chicken curry and they were delicious. The dessert options were meager and hence we opted to go for dessert around the corner. Also since it was my wife's birthday- I had mentioned that in my reservation as a special occasion. There was no follow up by the wait staff and no cake! I ordered food from here on Uber Eats. They were having a buy one get one free deal on Chicken Tikka Masala and Naan. I also decided to try their vegetable pakora. I was pretty disappointed... the masala sauce had NO flavor. It tastes like nothing. I was shocked. The vegetable pakora is also sort of stale flavor. I'm giving three stars because I got a bunch of food for the price, but I might have to try and find a way to spice it up on my own. Everything is so flavorless it tastes like bland prison food. The food was honestly the worst food I have had in my entire life. Not only was everything extremely bland, the dishes simply did not taste like they were supposed to. ~Monica's T.A.S.T.E. Test~ Taste: I had the vegetarian sampler which came with tastes of 4 main dishes, naan, a milky desert, rice, and fried dessert balls. I loved the 4 mains (which consisted of 1 pea, 1 cauliflower, 1 beans/lentils, and 1 spinach/paneer dish) and naan. All had excellent depth and paired well together. The desserts I didn't love but that was more personal preference as they were cooked well. Atmosphere: The inside of the restaurant is very welcoming. I liked how the dishes were served to your table right before the food warm, as most dishes are served family style so there was no change in temperature when transferring food to your plate. Service: Our wait staff was very attentive and friendly, and explained the menu well. Tab: For 2 of us after tip it came out to $46, with a Northwestern student discount. I think they have a lunch buffet that is cheaper and you can try all the food, so that may be a more effective use of dollars. Don't bother getting the buffet. I tried a little bit of everything, and at least half of the food is bland. Most of the curries, including the Rogan Josh, Tikka Masala, Chana Masala, and Palak Paneer tastes like I got COVID - I truly did wonder if I caught it. The Masala Wings also tasted like nothing and one of the pieces felt raw - way too chewy to have been properly cooked. The okra and one other curry I forget the name of (bright yellow with a tang) were not bad, and the garlic naan, hard to mess up, was also okay. With that said, I've never had Indian food this bad. I have been to a few other buffets and they were good, it didn't taste like they were trying to sharply cut costs and use water instead of tomato pastes. For the first time in my life, I received a warm plate 2 minutes before my main dish came out. While on the surface this seems small, it was kinda big! It definitely kept the dish warmer and gave the meal (especially the rice) more flavor. Diversity: The menu has a lot of options. I had the curry chicken with rice which was delicious. The flavor of the curry was thick but extremely savory and went REALLY well with the rice. Looking around the restaurant, I did not see any dish repeat, so it appears everything they have is good. I've always been a fan of exceptional Indian food, so I was delighted to discover Mt. Everest Restaurant! The venue is fairly basic, with the focus more on the food than the ambiance - that suits me just fine :-) Service is fast, friendly, and efficient - what they do best here is the cuisine! All the breads, curries, and Tandoori I've tried to date have been excellent. They've got a nice (though not unusual) selection of traditional dishes, with some Nepali dishes as well for people who are willing to take a walk on the culinary wild side ;-) We've visited here several times and haven't found anything yet that isn't delicious! Some of our go to favorites are the Tandoori chicken (which is wonderfully succulent) and their amazing Chicken Jalfrezi. The prices here aren't low, but they're spot-on given the exceptional quality of the food served. Highly recommended!! read more

I enjoyed everything that we ordered - chicken momo, samosas, aloo gobi, baigan bartha (eggplant , a favorite dish of mine in general), chicken tikka masala, and lamb curry. The dishes were all mild, which is perfect for me, but many Indian food enthusiasts would probably find it to be not spicy enough - there are spicier dishes on the menu though. The breads were delicious, and I absolutely loved the piyazi kulcha (bread filled with onions). Sometimes I make my own curry, and I'd definitely want to swing by Mt Everest to pick up some naan or other breads. The price point is typical for Evanston. My one gripe is that the online ordering system automatically added an extra dollar to my tip when I pressed the "submit" button. It was just a dollar, but I didn't like the way it was randomly added. I dunno if this is supposed to be part of an online ordering fee or something. read more

Went despite some recent negative reviews on Yelp. Never been, ordered the mocktail (a peach mule) and aloo gobhi. Both excellent. Drink was fizzy refreshing goodness. Aloo was lovely, tho not saucy. The fluffy basmati rice comes with a few peas & carrots in it, which I enjoyed. Ate only half, so for $16, was a great price, as I have a leftover meal now. Service was prompt and courteous. From there it went downhill. We were the first to be seated for dinner, yet we had to wait for 35 minutes for the entrees. Second visit (4 years later), but this time, I wasn't wowed or blown away by the food. Daughter and I were hungry from travel and ready for a delicious Indian lunch. The buffet offerings the day of our visit just weren't awesome, in fact most of it was seriously lacking in flavor. One dish had some heat, but still lacked in flavorful spices. I also had a quick sample of one of the dessert options. The dessert labels listed kheer as an option along with "sewai" with vermicelli in it. The choice labeled "kheer" was not kheer like I'd ever seen. It was some sort of fruit salad type dessert. I tried the sewai and found it highly unsatisfying. A bite was enough. It was watery and not calorie-worthy. I would've loved a wonderful gajar ka (carrot) halwa or a bowl of actual kheer. The service was fine. We were greeted and welcomed, served water and naan, etc, so that was a plus. Ambiance was good. The noise level is quiet enough for easy conversation. Ordered takeout here and was surprised by the size of the portions. We ordered a chana masala and paneer makhani with garlic naan and barely had enough room to finish it all up. The food was ready by the time we arrived to pick it up and the service was excellent. The chana masala was 5/5, but the paneer makhani was probably a 3.5. The prices were a little high, but the restaurant offers a pretty nice discount for college students in the area! read more

We always like coming here and the food is very good. We came here last Saturday and when we walked in there was a terrible smell in the restaurant. I don't know if it was their cleaning product or what but it really smelled bad. It was distracting from the quality of the food. The food itself was very good especially the Tandoori Chicken and the Goan Fish Curry. The Aloo Gobi was just ok nothing special. chicken Tikka was also very good. OK, so food-wise? Banging. The veggie samosas are lovely, and the dips are amazing: a green cilantro-adjacent dip that is not TOO spicy, and a savory plum dip that's not too sweet. My Gosht Pasanda was mouth-watering and not spicy at ALL. (I ordered Spice Level 1, which is a step above their mildest option). My partner liked their Chicken Makhani (Spicy) and both the naan and roti were EXCELLENT. Lost a star because we only received one side of rice, which wasn't nearly enough (I'm thinking maybe they left one out of our to-go order accidentally?) and the portion sizes are fairly small for the $17-19 the cost (at least, compared to similar places with similarly-priced meals). We'll DEFINITELY be back, because OMG THE GOSHT PASANDA, but it will probably be more "special occasion" eatery than "I've got a hankering for Indian food - wanna grab lunch?" eatery. read more
