A stormy night when our first options were either crowded or far too expensive ($40 for a buffet, really?)! So, Mt. Fuji was calling ... and Mt. Fuji's warm welcome and superb sushi clearly were the right choice once again! When you walk into this classic Japanese restaurant you can choose to head to the noisy Hibachi grill section where the chefs entertain, or you can choose the side where the sushi chefs are working their magic within view. What I really like is the wall ... if you want to enjoy a quiet meal of sushi and sashimi the wall keeps the comic performance from disturbing your tasting of the fresh seafood. Speaking of fresh seafood ... oh my! Each bite of our sushi offered that fresh flavor of the sea that you expect when eating raw fish. My specialty roll's flavors were so good ... SOOOOO GOOD!!!!! And, the regular rolls provided the simplistic tastes of the fish of choice. The service was outstanding, and it was hard to miss the staff's interaction with other customers. When you walk in you are greeted with a warm smile. You are checked on regularly but not overwhelmingly and your tea is refilled as needed. Finally, another mark of a quality restaurant that we have never tried but was clearly evident was the number of take out orders awaiting to be picked up. Amazing sushi! By far the best in the area, especially for the price. Staff is so kind and friendly, it's clear that they care & go out of their way to provide requests & needs. I've never dined in, but when I went in to pick up my food it was a little outdated in there. We arrived at the time of our Reservation and the Hibachi grill was ready and waiting for us. The waitress took our drink order and returned quickly with the drinks and took our dinner orders. All 4 of us got Filet Mignon 2 of also got Scallops. The Hibachi Chef was the LEAST entertaining of any I have had before, but he did a great job in cooking the Filet Mignon to a medium temperature. He did the, shoot the zucchini in your mouth thing, but we didn't get any Sake or any water sprayed at the kids. That said, the quality of the food is the most important and we were all pleased. The only issue I had was with the noodles, they were not as good as other Hibachi Restaurants that we have visited. This location is closer then then our #1 Hibachi Restaurant and the quality was not that far off, so we WILL be back. read more

Came here at the recommendation of a friend who lives in the area. It was easy to find in a rather large shopping center with plenty of parking available in front of the restaurant. So glad we stopped in. The place was busy but we were seated right away. We had several fresh made sushi which was delicious. The service was great and our server was very attentive. Came here to celebrate my dad's 75th Birthday. Our party of 9 arrived on time and we were all seated right away. We started out placing our dinner orders. They brought out soup and salad to start. We also brought our own wine as this place is BYOB. The chef double checked everyone's order and made sure of any food allergies. He started out cooking the fried rice and veggies, then the fried noodles. Then followed up with our meat sections. We were all given two dipping sauces. Everything was hot and flavorful. I myself ordered the shrimp and scallop combo. My only complaint is the chef not cleaning the grill before preparing my scallops. They were loaded with grill residue. Once we finished dinner they brought out the cake and didn't tell us they were bringing it and we felt kinda of thrown into singing and wasn't prepared to take our photos of the moment. Arrived at 6pm on a Saturday without a reservation and got to a hibachi table in only 5-10 mins. Portion sizes were big, food tasted good and place was clean. Simply the best!!! ONLY place me and my family will go for sushi. We travel an hour to enjoy Mt. Fuji at least once per month. If it were closer I'm positive we'd go more often! Always fresh and delicious. The employees are so sweet and make us feel special every time we come. They genuinely care about their customers. My children LOVE the employees and ask to go see them. Food was just ok. It was one of the less memorable hibachi restaurants in the area given the food and price. Noodles were fishy tasting. Kids meals were overly restrictive (no soup, rice or noodles). Prices were high for all those conditions, which would otherwise be ok I guess if the prices were lower. They didn't have a combo special for two, the way that many others do. What made me give only two stars?? The "demand" that too be 18%. Plastered all over were signs indicating that an 18% minimum tip is required. I'm sorry, a tip is optional. This isn't the first Asian restaurant that I've been given an issue over tips at, but it's the first one that is so blatant. Lacking other words, it was offensive. read more

This is our go to for sushi in Deptford. It's very popular and busy most of the time. I've actually never eaten at the hibachi side but I always hear cheers and laughter over there and it's usually crowded too. My family loves their sushi. Note to self: Do not attempt to try several specialty rolls in one fell swoop. I love sushi but never seem to get enough when ordering a la carte. First there's the issue with cost, in better establishments I could probably spend $50 or more on my meal, and still be left wanting. So trying an all you can eat has always been something I wanted to do. This restaurant features it at $25 on Sunday's. We were given menus of what we could select and asked to fill in items and quantities. I skipped soup but did get a salad, it was a typical Asian offering and I would likely skip it in the future. I did pass on the soup choices but edamame seemed fitting. It was ok. We mistakenly ordered way too much on what we thought would be the first round. The 2 chefs on duty diligently worked to fill our plates and about 13 minutes later we were both presented with the mother lode. I preferred the regular rolls and sashimi over the specialty roll. These items included stripped bass, yellow tail, fluke!, and eel among others. The S rolls were huge and slightly over sauced. Some were better than others and I would advise diners to use restraint and order only 1 or 2. Dessert of ice cream even comes with it. Trish and I both agreed we would return, this time with a better thought out game plan. read more

Instead of starting out with some rolls, etc., as they are prepared, ALL of your choices - made on a literal check list of categoried selections - come out ALL at once! Talk about alot of food and pressure! (esp since you're charged what you don't eat!). We borderline overdid it! Our sushi was fresh and just beautiful! I liked all but one of my choices. Everything else was delicious. We both enjoyed the green tea (icy) icecream for dessert. Very good and of course, palate cleansing. The server was nice but not overly so nor attentive. The decor was plain and a bit dark but I loved their large and clean fish tank w/ colorful Parrot fish and others greeting you and saying goodbye. We've been to many hibachi grills in many cities (and cruise ships). So we're looking for hibachi nearby and Mt Fuji came highly recommended so I took my family there. It was the most boring hibachi experience I've had at any hibachi grill. No showmanship whatsoever. The chef looked bored and like he didn't want to be there and was not interactive beyond asking me if I wanted saki (weird since it's byob). The food was bland and the service almost nonexistent. We ordered sodas that came in cans (probably because it's byob). When you're spending over $200 on a meal, you expect something to be good...anything to be good. I am happy to have found this place amid COVID. There was a little confusion when we ordered over our order number and another customers in an attempt to accommodate to the social distancing policy. The price for our rolls was OK. For the vegetable rolls I ordered i would ideally pay less. My boyfriend ordered two shrimp tempura rolls and housed them in a matter of seconds, it seemed. The other side of the restaurant where you sit at tables was much busier. We were seated quickly and ordered fairly fast as well. The chef came out and gave us a great show. I am not from the area (I was visiting friends), so it BLOWS me AWAY that restaurants are BYOB. I have never heard of that before, and it was magical. The ability to BRING your OWN beer is something from dreams. Okay, the food. We ordered sushi (we did not sit on the hibachi side), and I thought it was good. I wasn't over the moon with the taste, but it hit the spot. Something weird was the fruit flies. There were a MILLION of them. They kept settling all over the wall, and I ended up just putting a napkin over my drink because I was worried they were going to get in my drink. Fruit flies are super annoying, and I've dealt with them before at my own house, so I knocked a star because it was irritating, but only a star because I get it. They're hard to get rid of. I felt like the portions were generous with the sushi. I left full. The prices were relatively typical, but they wait was a bit lengthy. From when we ordered to when the food arrived took a bit longer than normal for a sushi restaurant. If I was in town, I would definitely go again. Mt. Fuji is our new favorite place when we don't feel like we want to cook (and that does not really happen lately besides some weekends). The hubs and I have been here a long, long time ago for the sushi and even before the place expanded, but don't remember if the sushi was good or not. We love the hibachi here. Hibachi is always pricey (~$25), but so good and makes for great leftovers. Husband gets the filet mignon with scallops and I get filet mignon with salmon. Sometimes we get a shrimp or two from the chef. Hibachi comes with a small soup and salad. Sushi is a hit or miss, as are the appetizers. We tend to stick with just the good ol' hibachi and always look forward to the "yum yum" sauce to dip everything in - is that weird? The "yum yum" sauce here tastes better than other hibachi places we have been to. If you like it as much as us, you'll be excited to know that the salad comes with "yum yum" sauce as well. So happy to see that Mt. Fuji has expanded in this not-so-poppin' plaza and seems to have very good business. Definitely one of the few places in our dinner rotation! P.S. Our baby daughter drools every time we go here, hehe. She will be thrilled to eat with us when she gets older! read more

I've been here numerous times and even had takeout a couple times. Unfortunately I have not tried to Hibachi yet so I will have to update my review when I do get to that. The service is excellent and the food is even better! The last time I was here we had the crab rangoons for appetizer, I had the shrimp tempura with a side of spicy mayo (these might be the best I've ever had), my boyfriend had the pink lady and California roll. We both shared the chicken noodles (soba), which were amazing!
