I'd rate it 3.5 if I could. I got the steak hibachi, a spicy salmon roll, and a spicy shrimp roll. The hibachi was decent, if a bit small on the meat. All the other rave reviews on the yum yum sauce are absolutely correct. I normally don't like the stuff, but Fuji's is terrific. The sushi was impressively small, but then again the prices here are crazy low. While this isn't a hidden gem, I definitely understand that they have to limit their portions and quality to be able to provide the low prices, especially since the majority of their business comes from UofL students. They aren't bad by any means, but it just didn't wow me. read more

The best cheap hibachi food around! I've been coming to Mt Fuji ever since freshman year of undergrad because you get so much (great) food for not that much money! I love their boba teas, like the green apple and strawberry flavors, and I usually get the chicken hibachi. Being forced to pay 50 cents for each individual tiny cup of yum yum sauce after having already spent $28 on food is insulting to the customers and downright greedy. Yum yum is a staple of any dish you order at an Americanized Japanese restaurant, yet they give only one complimentary sauce and ONLY with hibachi, not sushi orders. It's all especially annoying given the fact that it costs so little for them to make in bulk. I won't be back for that reason alone, so I hope the 2 cent yum yum cups are worth losing out on my future $15-$25 orders. That aside, the hibachi is mediocre at best anyway. read more

I got take out so I can't talk much on the service although my food was quickly prepared. I got the hibachi chicken with fried rice and it was a good alternative to going out to a hibachi restaurant. As for the ambiance, it's pretty loud and crowded so if you're looking for a place to talk and enjoy someone's company I wouldn't choose here. read more

I got bubble tea (mango) that was just awful the papaya which my husband got was great. (Drink bubble tea with caution lmfao you can get the runs from such a pretty drink) FOOD. Unless you're next to the counter you don't get the regular hibachi feeling when they cook in front of you... yum yum sauce tastes like mayonnaise nasty ! Miso soup wasn't too great, needed more flavor but the avocado salad was decent. The ginger dressing had separated but I'm glad that i know that it was nothing a little shake wouldn't fix. The portions are a pretty good size and the prices are fair. I love this place! It's great food, quality service and products. The hibachi tastes great and is very affordable. I also love the bubble tea, they offer several flavors and great smoothies too. It's also very large portions. The precautions they've taken for COVID are great as well. I'd definitely recommend this place for take out. If I could give 3.5 stars, I probably would. But, given it's not possible, I'm going to round up. I think it deserves it. Unless you live in the area, or you're on campus, there probably isn't a decent reason for you to come here. All that said, it's been consistently good for me through undergrad. It's casual, and a University of Louisville favorite. You order at the counter, take a number, and they'll bring it over when it's done. There's a wide variety from sushi, hibachi, bubble tea, and not to mention a slew of appetizing vegetarian options. In all seriousness, the vegetarian options here are excellent, and I'd recommend taking a peek at their meatless-versions of menu favorites. No, the hibachi isn't going to be phenomenal, but it will be tasty. A little greasy, but your tummy can probably take it. The sushi isn't gold star either, but it's good and trustworthy. In fact, it's still better than a handful of "sushi" restaurants in the metro area. It gets CRAZY in here during the lunch and dinner rush. I'll keep coming as long as I'm living in Old Louisville! read more

These pros will help you forget that you'd pay twice as much at a sit down sushi restaurant for slightly better sushi. Yum yum sauce is awesome. Add it to everything! The Sushi is really good...I can't say enough good things about it. But.....the egg rolls were so greasy I could not believe how bad they were. Obviously their deep fry temperature is not hot enough for them to be that greasy. I also got the chicken yakatori and the chicken was so dry and hard, my dogs could barely eat it...they struggled to chew it up. I picked a quiet spot in a nice corner seconds before a group of contractors/business dudes sat next to me and decided to have a " let's yell our entire meeting while we eat our delicious food like pigs". I wish they could serve in something other than styrofoam, but I asked and they said that's all they have. Mt Fuji is definitely there to attract college students. The interior is loud and boisterous, the prices are cheap, and the food itself is really just OK. The sushi is really just a collection of all things heavily fried and sauced, which did not appeal to me so I went with the shrimp hibachi with noodles and teriyaki sauce. It was really fine, there were enough shrimp to make the dish seem like you were getting your moneys worth, and the noodles were flavorful, a bit on the salty side though. I also had some strawberry bubble tea and pork gyoza, both of which were made well and a nice addition to the meal. If you want a lot of sushi for less, I believe the sushi combo #30 has 3 spicy rolls for around 10$!!! If you want hibachi plates you can get two meals for one price. Those who know me, know how much I love Mt. Fuji. You just cannot go wrong here. The chicken hibachi is very large for lunch and comes with chicken, veggies, and fried rice, as well as teriyaki or the standard yellow sauce. They are SO FAST here. I would recommend during the work week going before 11:45 or after 12:45. Things get packed, and I think the quality does decrease a small amount during their peak season.
