Mount Lassen/Shingleton KOA RV Park, Shingleton, CA - July 21, 2025 This is a very nice RV park. The registration process is simple. The staff are very friendly. They have a nice store that is pretty nicely stocked. I was especially impressed with all the hardware they had for RVs. They have ice, some food items, and drinks. The park is fairly spacious with nicely tree-covered sites. They have a picnic table and a fire pit. We had full hook ups. They have a fair amount of amenities at the park, including a very nice swimming pool, clubhouse, and a mini golf basket course. They have a nice dog run/agility area that our little puppy loved. They do have propane if you need it. The RV Park is just about 20 miles west of Mount Lassen national Park. It's also not too far from Bernie Falls. read more

This KOA Kampground is one of the best campgrounds we have ever stayed at. Located about 10 minutes from the front entrance of Lassen volcanic National Park, it is the perfect location to use as a base camp for your trip into Lassen. The staff is super friendly, from the moment you register, until the moment you leave. They are helpful and demonstrate a grateful hospitality knowing that you spent time and money at their facility. We stayed in the Kabins which were super clean, and comfortable, if not better than a Motel 6 or Best Western. And each Kanin had a family size picnic table, a non-ember wood burning fire pit, and a barbecue grill. Getting the non-ember flying wood logs lit is an adventure in patience and skill. Maybe you'll have more luck than we did with it. You have to use their wood because it is such a dry area, and you can see within the park how wildfires have raged and ravaged this national park. So a mindfulness must be taken to not allow any ember's or fire to get away. Showers are clean and great. Hot water was nice and hot. Floors were clean. And as a male, always appreciate when I could go into the bathroom and it doesn't look like another man's guts exploded into the toilet. Come on guys flush better! And as somebody who works from the road, the Wi-Fi was a solid 8.5 out of 10. A couple times it glitched and I had to go off camera for a zoom conference call. But if that's the biggest complaint I have, then it is excellent Wi-Fi for the purpose of email, being in communication with clients , if needed, and then unplugging and getting back to enjoy the outdoors. This is a flagship KOA, as we just stayed at a former KOA in the Eureka area, which was a 5 out of 10 and you can see has lost the commitment of the KOA brand. (Although the girl at that former KOA was very helpful- I'm talking about overall visual, cleanliness, and operation.) And last, a big happy birthday shout out to Tanner, who was greeting arriving guests at the front desk on his birthday. Well done! We thought we would try and come back through the surrounding areas after exiting the southside because the KOA is on the north entrance side. I would recommend you come back through the park. The nonpark return way is pretty great for about the first 2/3 to go straight, drive a little faster, and feel like you're saving time. The last third is like driving through backwoods, it's kind of creepy, you can almost hear the banjos playing in the background waiting for the helpless travelers. We made a reservation here and had to cancel - they state one can only cancel by phone - emails are not accepted. We've been calling for weeks - no one ever answers. Voice mail says leave a message and we'll call you back - but they never do - so we're stuck repeatedly calling them hoping one day they will pick up. Not the way to run a business. read more

We rented the Log House. This is the only vacation home rental at a KOA. It used to be the Manager's house. It is huge and impressive. The staff is great, especially Doug. The only problem is that it does not have air conditioning. There is a portable air conditioner that we put in the living room so that everyone could cool off, but the bedrooms were really hot during the time that we were there. I would love to stay here but only during cooler weather... not in the upper 90s. read more

A great, family friendly KOA. The owners and staff are very welcoming and helpful. The campsites and RV sites are very well maintained. My family has been to this KOA and used the RV sites previously and a tent campsite this past trip. We now want to try out a cabin at this KOA on our next trip. The bathrooms and showers are very clean and well maintained. The KOA store on-site has everything from ice, lunch meat, bread, milk, propane, souvenirs and ice cream. The prices a reasonable. The pool, children's play area, basketball court, beach volleyball and the provided games on the grass are great. The close proximity to the Lassen Volcanic National Park entrance is very nice for day hikes and sightseeing. I'd highly recommend the Shingletown KOA to others. read more

A week prior to our arrival, I've contacted them via email and asked a few questions to prepare for our trip. They have responded the following day. I highly appreciated it. The gentleman who got us checked in was cool. It was quick as can be with an adequate overview of their KOA. Our lot was large and spacious. Everything was clean from the picnic table, fire pit to the pedestal. The lot was all gravel. It's perfect to avoid mudding and keeps the excess dirt dust from getting all over the place. Also, I was able to do a quick rinse on our travel trailer. Wifi was not reliable. It would work for a bit then completely choke. I'd prefer a slower connection than an unreliable one. This KOA is very family oriented. Bike rentals are available with paths to take a ride. Playgrounds and pool. They got it all for the youngsters. Had no problems with any, but one. A kid threw rocks at us intentionally. I highly recommend skipping the holidays and weekends, because by Sunday afternoon it was quiet. Every staff you see will either wave or awknowledge you somehow. Great management here. It reflects on their employees. read more

I would give more stars than are offered here! The owners, Jim and Diane are wonderful hosts as is the whole staff! We, along with this KOA campground, were experiencing PG&E extended blackouts. After making a multiple day reservation, the lack of electrical power on both of our parts, put us in a unique situation that made cancellation inside the window of loss of our rent, a real possibility. Emailing Jim, he was able to move our stay back a few days with no problem. Upon arrival, we were introduced to the whole staff, and directed us to one of the nicest spots in the park. It was clean shaded, with all the amenities. The bathrooms and showers were clean and well maintained. The staff was outstanding. Enjoyed the next day in Lassen Park and returned to a restful evening. A definite must for our next trip! Thank you Jim and Diane! read more

I'm not sure how anyone could give this place less than five stars. First, the ENVIRONMENT: It's rare to find a place with the perfect balance between authentic wilderness and convenient amenities. In most places you have to choose. This campground is beautiful, wooded, clean and friendly. Within a few minutes to one hour drive, you can be hiking Mount Lassen, enjoying Burney exploring Subway Caves or fishing streams and lakes to your heart's content. Second, the HOSPITALITY: The staff is warm, helpful and friendly from checkin to checkout. They're not going around bugging or policing you, but they're easy to find when you need them. You almost can't pass an employee without them greeting you and asking how things are going. Third, the AMENITIES: The camp store is clean, reasonably priced and well-stocked with all the essentials you may have forgotten. There are also some grocery stores available about 5 minutes away. The camp restrooms are immaculate (including the showers), and the landscape is clean and well-kept. We will definitely keep coming back here for years to come... We were not given the site we asked for. When we asked to change we were told the internet was down. No cell service etc. We offerered to walk around and look for a site. We were told no. We were told since the computer was down we couldn't switch. We went to the car and called another campground and got a space. After telling the person we had cell service she said we were lucky. She didn't even try to log on. She made less than zero effort to help us. Unbelievably bad customer service. read more

Fantastic lodging accommodations. We stayed in a cabin and I was impressed by how clean both the cabin and bathroom Facilities. The beds were comfortable as well as the fluffy clean pillows. There were so many thoughtful touches in the cabin from bed lights, shelves, wall mirror, window shades and porch swing and more. The grill was clean as a whistle too! Convenience of the dining table and seats, water faucet and dish washing station just outside our cabin - just made everything easy. Even the Dish washing station provided liquid detergent and a brush. Our stay was comfortable and our kids had a fabulous time. We did not use anything outside of the cabin and bathroom facilities so unable to comment on those in this review but we will be back for sure! read more

An all-around wonderful camping experience here at Mt Lassen/Shingletown KOA. Staff: Very friendly and helpful, and great with communicating up until and during our stay, they were a great group of people to work with and made our stay very comfortable. Amenities: Although this wouldn't qualify as glamping, this is definitely a step-up from a regular campsite. There's a swimming pool, sand volleyball court, playground for kids, big lawn for ice cream socials and movie night. Cleanliness: The bathrooms were immaculate, you can tell they really took the time to regularly clean the facilities very well. The rest of the campground was very clean and well maintained too. Overall, a great campsite, wonderful staff, and nice location. read more

We were here this past weekend for three days. Great experience. We were in space 34. A little too close to the community gathering spot for our liking but convenient. Our first time at a KOA, so have nothing to compare it to really. The staff is awesome. The owner, Jim greeted us personally. Such pride of ownership here. Grounds are very well-maintained. This was the 1st time bringing out our new Tent Trailer and we honestly couldn't have picked a better place to bring our family. Every single staff person we came across was welcoming and very helpful. Very family oriented campsite. There is a playground, pool and large grass area with games on it. Plenty of beautiful trees everywhere. Bathrooms are very well kept. Store/office has firewood, ice and basic necessities available for purchase. There is a Dollar General And a few small shops about a few miles down the road. Lassen National Park is About 15 Minutes away. Pets are allowed at this campsite and there is plenty of areas to walk them in. Thank You very much for the great stay. read more

They have a few amenities we aren't used to having when camping (lawn area/games, ping pong, basketball, dog park, playground, pool). Bathrooms were clean. Our site had water and electricity. It was nice sized with a fire pit & grill over the pit. read more

They have so many activities horse shoes, park for kids, trail in the woods etc. They have wifi and direct tv both worked great. I usually hate KOAs because they seem like big parking lots. We usually tent camp. This time we got a cabin. It was awesome. The tent camping looked good, too. This place was so clean, fun outdoor games, pool & a cute store.. Short little hike, lots of trees. No fires allowed until Oct 31, (that's OK, it gets hot up here).. Hit up Hat Creek & Burney Falls. Usually a fan of a more "roughing it" feel we decided to book KOA because we did not know the area campgrounds yet. Campsite 6. The first thing I noticed were the trees, thankfully going against the barren wasteland impression I have of KOA's for some reason. At check in we met the managers, a husband and wife who are funny, sweet and helpful. There is an attached store for forgotten items, trinkets to buy, ice, etc. The bathrooms are key entry and CLEAN. They only got dingy late at night because the managers were in bed, but they still were not bad and I had no issue with them. Shower in the morning was clean and hot. Our tent site was surrounded by trees but next to the garbage cans, which was definitely not idea. The spots have hay laid down for tents which made it comfy and helped prevent tracked in ickiness. We are used to spots further away, but everyone was very nice and it wasn't hard to keep to yourself if you wanted. Tons of kids running around due to the great kid friendliness of the place, but when it hit "quiet time" at night, it was SILENT. Firepit has grilling surface, spicket in middle of campsite got ran in to a couple of times, so we put a bucket over it. My only valid and biggest issue was at sun down the streetlight came on. The streetlight was a buzzing beacon of light for incoming cars that just happened to be located on our campsite, directly over our tent. We attempted to brush off the light as being similar to a bright moon, but there was no getting past the buzzing. Moved the tent to the other spot in the site with less buzzing, but sun hit directly in the morning. In summary, clean, friendly, family friendly. read more

This KOA has won awards and deserves them. It is spotlessly clean and well run. We have camped here several times and we will be back. This past time intersected with a PG&E power outage. They handled it perfectly. There is a large generator and the lights are on. The facility is lit and open. The owners clearly know what they are doing. Support them. This is a good place. read more

I'm outside of my trailer to cool off in 90F heat, because my 30 amp site doesn't have enough amperage to run my fridge and a/c. The a/c keeps cutting out and my voltage is dropping below 104 volts, when my RV protection kicks in. My combo is only pulling 12 amps, 16 amps max with water heater on. Every trailer around me is a 50amp. Most with two units on the roof and running non stop. The owner stated the system is outdated and needs to be redone. And I'm stuck paying for services I am not receiving in full. The owner never called me back when I requested a call about my poor service. He only made excuses, a nice guy and seemingly, a good guy to work for, but all he did was make excuses. It's too bad, the place has a lot to offer. Just not decent electricity. I won't be back, but if you make reservations, I'd recommend reserving 50 amp. read more

This is a wonderful Campground! It is super clean and has lots of fun things to do. Best of all it has a swimming pool! It was great to be able to go in the pool after a hot day hiking at Lassen Volcanic National Park, just up the road. They have a small camp store, laundry, and hot showers. There is a trail for walking and bike riding on the premises. They also have bikes for rent. They have horseshoes, tetherball, sand volleyball and a tree swing and more. There are only two downsides to this campground. The first is the Wi-Fi was not good, in spite of the fact that they have boosters around the grounds. The other is that the sites are close together in the areas with hookups. We were assigned to space 22 but it had no shade so we switched to space 23, which was a good call. We would definitely recommend this Campground and stay here again. read more

We spent 3 nights here, with our 2 grandchildren. The cabin was clean and neat, with great beds. The pool, playground, and night walk, were great fun for the kids. Extremely clean campgrounds, being checked constantly by management. Very quite at night, was a real plus! Definitely will return next year. read more

Campground was quiet and well maintained. Site was level and well serviced. Septic dump site had free nitrile gloves provided! Laundry, Toilet, showers were in excellent condition. Handicapped toilet/showers were provided. The back of the campground has a walking area, with a bird watching station; Comfy chairs to relax in. During our stay, our rental RV developed a water leak. Our mobile phone had been acting up. The staff at the front desk helped out by offering us use of their landline to call the RV rental office to schedule a service. The owners and the entire staff are super friendly and helpful. We had a leaking propane regulator. I remembered seeing some replacement trailer parts in the gift shop and went over to see if they had what I needed and they did. The front desk radioed the maintenance staff to come look at the problem on my trailer. The two gentlemen (sorry I forgot their names) then jumped right in and replaced it for me! They make you feel like you shouldn't have to worry about a thing and want you to enjoy your stay in the area. We did!! The sites are clean, level and spacious. The amenities are great (beach volleyball, tether ball, hiking trail, swings, RC track). They have Friday movie night, Saturday ice cream social and Sunday pancake breakfast. The lawns are perfectly manicured, the grounds are clean and being nestled in the forest is always a plus. The only semi-negative is the Wi-Fi is sketchy, but heck...not many campgrounds have good Wi-Fi up in the mountains. Other than that, this campground is a must stay if you are in the area. If I could give more stars than 5, I would. This place is a gem!!! read more

We have camped here twice for 1 week at a stay. We really like the location relative to the park. Wish we could find closer but this is good. All in all it's a good RV park. We used to have a 36 foot diesel motor home, now we have a 41 foot trailer. Not sure about having this larger 5th wheel. Any feedback from those with similar size rigs would be helpful. We made a short side trip while traveling south from Oregon to visit Lassen National Park and spent one night here in our Airstream. We wish that we had planned for a week. The owners and staff at this camp have created the best designed sites and a beautiful balance of activities together with restful peace we've seen in a long time. Plus, they are so friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond for us when we hit a snag. Whether in an RV or renting one of the cabins, the camp is clean, efficient and very well managed. Unfortunately did not get to stay! Made a reservation online 2 months prior to trip for pull thru full hookup site. Confirmed and ready to go. I called the day of departure to figure out which site we would be in. To my surprise we were given a site with water and electric only, not what I had reserved and the price would be the same $65/night. No way, with 5 people I would have to dump our tanks daily..take down setup and reset every day! KOA excuse was 'Reservation online does NOT guarantee what you reserve.' Now that is some BS! No where does it say on reservation email that it is not guaranteed when booked online. Family was looking forward to coming, so was I. They could not acommadate my reservation so had to find another RV park. We saved our weekend but so damn disappointing! Be careful when booking! read more
