Unbelievably clean! Excellent WiFi! Huge spaces! Wonderful walking trails in back. Huge k9 area. Our site was ready and clean at 3:00. Place was so peaceful. It's probably a little louder during summer. Spot 30 was AMAZING!! Definitely coming back!!!

Perfect night and weather for a fire!

Perfect spot to camp with family! Staff were friendly, walked around with a smile and kept the grounds in order. Restroom were always clean and the store offers needed camping items and food.

We rented the Log House. This is the only vacation home rental at a KOA. It used to be the Manager's house. It is huge and impressive. The staff is great, especially Doug. The only problem is that it does not have air conditioning. There is a portable air conditioner that we put in the living room so that everyone could cool off, but the bedrooms were really hot during the time that we were there. I would love to stay here but only during cooler weather... not in the upper 90s.

A great, family friendly KOA. The owners and staff are very welcoming and helpful. The campsites and RV sites are very well maintained. My family has been to this KOA and used the RV sites previously and a tent campsite this past trip. We now want to try out a cabin at this KOA on our next trip. The bathrooms and showers are very clean and well maintained. The KOA store on-site has everything from ice, lunch meat, bread, milk, propane, souvenirs and ice cream. The prices a reasonable. The pool, children's play area, basketball court, beach volleyball and the provided games on the grass are great. The close proximity to the Lassen Volcanic National Park entrance is very nice for day hikes and sightseeing. I'd highly recommend the Shingletown KOA to others.

This is a great KOA. Doug has been there through many owners and is fabulous. The new owners... over a year now... are wonderful and so is the entire staff.

A week prior to our arrival, I've contacted them via email and asked a few questions to prepare for our trip. They have responded the following day. I highly appreciated it. The gentleman who got us checked in was cool. It was quick as can be with an adequate overview of their KOA. Our lot was large and spacious. Everything was clean from the picnic table, fire pit to the pedestal. The lot was all gravel. It's perfect to avoid mudding and keeps the excess dirt dust from getting all over the place. Also, I was able to do a quick rinse on our travel trailer. Wifi was not reliable. It would work for a bit then completely choke. I'd prefer a slower connection than an unreliable one. This KOA is very family oriented. Bike rentals are available with paths to take a ride. Playgrounds and pool. They got it all for the youngsters. Had no problems with any, but one. A kid threw rocks at us intentionally. I highly recommend skipping the holidays and weekends, because by Sunday afternoon it was quiet. Every staff you see will either wave or awknowledge you somehow. Great management here. It reflects on their employees.

Wonderful time at this Koa. Site was beautiful, staff very friendly. Our dog loved the doggie park! Grandchild loved the park, the big swing and all the trails around the property. Easy drive up to Lassen, Hat Creek and the Subway Caves. Small town nice pizza parlor, gas and two grocery stores. Will be back!

I would give more stars than are offered here! The owners, Jim and Diane are wonderful hosts as is the whole staff! We, along with this KOA campground, were experiencing PG&E extended blackouts. After making a multiple day reservation, the lack of electrical power on both of our parts, put us in a unique situation that made cancellation inside the window of loss of our rent, a real possibility. Emailing Jim, he was able to move our stay back a few days with no problem. Upon arrival, we were introduced to the whole staff, and directed us to one of the nicest spots in the park. It was clean shaded, with all the amenities. The bathrooms and showers were clean and well maintained. The staff was outstanding. Enjoyed the next day in Lassen Park and returned to a restful evening. A definite must for our next trip! Thank you Jim and Diane!

There were tampons in two different shower stalls left there for 3 days I went to the Manzanita general store to complain but nothing was done other than the typical, "we will inform management. Thanks..." Finally on the 4th day, the showers were somewhat decent. There needs to be more pride and care put into the cleanliness of the showers and bathrooms. I took pictures of the showers when no one was there.

They have a gift shop that sells softserve icecream so we grabbed one of those and talked to the store clerk who also runs the marina where he explained the boating and kayaking options, fishing, etc. Afterwards we hiked the paved path down to the falls. The path has an incline and is wet in some areas so exercise caution as we saw someone fall and bust her knee open. The falls are so beautiful from every angle, and very worth the trip! After taking a ton of photos we walked on another path that took us to a cool bridge crossing the river. Then headed over to the marina area and rented a kayak for 4 hours for $85, which is great price honestly. The guy at the boat rental area was very nice and accomodating. The sun was out in full force so take your sunscreen! We fished and caught a few small mouth bass but nothing we could keep. After we turned in our kayaks we found a picnic area and grilled up some food. Overall we really enjoyed our day at this park and highly recommend!!

We did the trail clockwise and it took a little while to get to the ultimate view, but I was glad it wasn't immediate so that we had something to really look forward to while on the trail. We parked at the Loomis Museum lot where there was a bathroom and small visitor center/gift shop. Parking was pretty full when we arrived, but emptied out quite a bit when we were leaving. They had kayak rentals on the lake, we had originally planned to do it, but time didn't permit on this trip. It's far…read moresmaller, less frequented and much less known about than other sites nearby, making me hesitant to even share that it exists. Nevertheless, we had a wonderful time here and would certainly return if we are back exploring the area. It's a USDA campground, falling under federal forest jurisdiction, so it's different in many ways from the state campsites we are used to. For starters, it's first come, first serve. So you are already trying your luck because there is no one to contact for a reservation ahead of time. Fortunately, there are many other campsites like this in the area, so if they are booked here, you have options. Other differences from state sites: The campsites were much bigger and more spacious. The bathrooms were chemical toilets vs. flush, like at Burney Falls (not a problem since the campground was so small and the host cleaned them frequently.) It's not well marked, either, so it's easy to miss this place. The only downside is that during the summer it is HOT and the tree cover is thin here. No matter which site you choose, expect your camp to be exposed to the sun most of the day. If I did it again, I would definitely bring some sort of big shade structure. The trees in this area are sparse and far between. All in all, consider it a great alternative to the busy, booked-6-months-in-advance sites at Burney Falls and other popular parks. Take your chances at a USDA site and you'll still be close to all the action in the Lassen area!
