Nevada Sunset Winery was the perfect spot for Celebrating Kaitlin and Jayson's Betrothal party. Everyone loved the wine selection Our favorite was the Sauvignon Blanc and the Sangiovese. They also offer wine slushies. The atmosphere was perfect for an intimate gathering of family and friends. I highly recommended reaching out to Kate to book your next event. It's the perfect place for a Birthday Party, Micro wedding or Anniversary Party. Do your self a favor and try a flight of wine at this full production winery.

What cute place! Service was also amazing. We were immediately greeted as we walked in. They offer wine by the glass/bottle or you can do a tasting flights. I opted for the tasting flight. I love that they are a winery and not just a wine bar. We bought a few bottles to take home. They also offer some swag items you can purchase as well!! We will definitely be back!!

Stopped In Saturday for a wine tasting while visiting Reno! So glad I did. The two Owners Alynn and Mike were so nice and friendly. Alynn was our server she was super sweet and so informative about the wines they carry. They serve wines for two different wineries. Nevada Sunset and Great Basin. The Great Basin menu didn't offer a wine tasting, but you can purchase the bottles of wine there. We did the white wine flight for $8 which comes with 3 wines: Reno Sparkles, 19 Chardonnay, and the Grenache white. My favorite out of the three was the Reno Sparkles. Which would work great for a mimosa! We also did the Red wine Flight for $8 three wines. Pinot Noir, Dornfelder, and the Petite Sirah. My favorite in the Red was the Pinot Noir. The ambiance was very nice. Bright seating area and they also have a bar as well you can sit at. I look forward to come back when visiting Reno!

Stumbled upon this winery while on a brewery tour and had the pleasure of meeting and being served by one of the owners (Alynn). My companions and I opted to do a flight of both red and white and my absolute favorites were Grenache White and their Pinot Noir. Alynn was great in explaining the history of the winey, as well as where the grapes come from (predominately Lodi) and how the wine is made locally! She also provided us with some additional local recommendations and insights. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and I plan to go back to visit! Note: Nevada Sunset and Great Basin Winery share this location, I did not sample Great Basin as they did not offer tastings. Additionally they do not offer snacks or bites for purchase however there was a food truck right outside!

How is it that I am first to review? I gave it a try last night with Yelp friends new and old for an "Unofficial Yelp Event" (UYE). I must say, the quality of service on the part of the owners, the nice assortment of wines for tasting and the personalized tour of their production facilities made it a most enjoyable experience. Alynn and Mike were the ultimate hosts and made all of us feel like we were invited to their home to sip wine and discuss the growth of local wine making in Nevada. I now see why this is developing into a most popular gathering spot for wine enjoyment. I look forward to a return visit.

I stopped in here while I was waiting for an event at black rabbit need a company next-door. They were having a special function here, but one of the owners, Alynn, and Co- winemakers invited me to try some of the wine. She gave me a glass of Napa wine. It was a 2020, a little bit young, however quite good for its young age. She gave me A really nice wine glass, and then asked me if I wanted to take it next door to just switch to glasses. Which I did. Really nice experience and this is what one would expect from a locally owned business/winemaker. It was a great introduction, and I will definitely be back to sample some more of their wines.

Found this wine tasting room by accident while visiting Lead Dog Brewing next door, and it's now my new favorite spot in Reno! The owners and the customers are so nice and some of their regulars even help out with refilling waters and chatting with us about different wines! We opted for wine tasting which is only $8 for 3 wines, you can choose red or white. We even got to try a couple extra! I highly recommend coming here, especially if you love good wine!

I love this winery especially on Girl Scout Cookie wine pairing time. Staff and owners are excellent, plenty of seating in the back and delicious wines.

I had no idea there was a winery right in downtown Reno! My mom and I came across this place and decided to give it a try. All the wines are made at their facility, and let me tell you they are great! The husband + wife ownership team are very knowledgeable of their product and lovely to chat with. We made friends at the bar during our tasting and it was such a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. A tasting of 7 wines is only $15, which is waived if you buy two bottles (and trust me, you'll be leaving this place with at least 2! My mom and I grabbed 3 each - the wines were delicious!) I will definitely be back!

It's like a Napa Winery experience followed me home to Reno! My bf and I were meandering around down 4th after having a great meal at Estella. We'd debated grabbing some beers but realized we'd never visited one of the wineries that are in this building, so we decided to take a chance. Nevada Sunset was who was pouring that evening and man... did we luck out! Ben decided to get the red wine flight and I got the white wine flight. Both were $8 for three wines. We'd actually gotten to speak to one of the owners, Mike, who was doing the pourings that evening. What a genuinely nice guy. Seriously... he answered all the questions we had about the wines. He was accommodating in letting us try a couple of other wines. He made friendly conversation with us and I think that it is one of my favorite things about people who make wine. They love to do it and they're always up to talk about it. That's what made this feel like a Napa experience to me. From my flight, I LOVED the Reno Sparkles bottle. The wine was crisp and not all that dry. It felt like if I ever needed to snag a very fun 'Reno' gift, that would be an excellent one! All in all, we ended up walking away with something Mr. Mike had let us taste, the Late Harvest Port. Good lord... you could pour that on ice cream. It was sooo rich and deep. We loved it and we wanted to make sure we took a bottle home after Mike had just been so great. It was such a killer happenchance find! We may find ourselves down there again. 10/10 recommend

Such a great way to start the evening. It's like a party - everyone chatting together, the winery owners chatting with the winos. I really enjoyed their sparkling rose and their albarino. Looking forward to heading back over, sitting at the bar and listening to awesome stories from the patrons and staff/owners.

This hidden gem knocked it out of the park April 2022. For the last several years I have popped into Nevada Sunset Winery for sips with the girls, wine & Girl Scout cookie pairings and wine purchases. April 15, 2022, owners Alynn and Mike really upped the ante. They paired with Reno Recipes and Chefs Travis Stehman and Daryl Butterfield for their first and very incredible wine dinner. An intimate dinner for 22 in the production room, where we could watch the chefs create dinner in a open pop up kitchen. The dinner went like this- 1st course- melt in your mouth buttery citrus cured tombo ahi with candied leeks and compressed citrus. What an absolute fabulous starter !! Paired with Nevada Sunset's 2021 Albariño. An incredible perfect pairing. The light citrus in the wine accented the fish just perfectly. 2nd course- deconstructed wedge salad. Genius, you will never have a wedge so throughly thought out. A wedge of crisp iceberg lettuce drizzled with a Calabrese blue cheese chutney. Not overpowering, just teasing. Accented with crispy pancetta, organic heirloom green tomatoes, and red pickled eggs. And this back end heat that slowly built as you savored the salad. Wines and salads are a tough pairing. But NS 2019 Chardonnay held up to the challenge. Aged in stainless steel, the butter notes encompassed the acids in the dressing. Another home run pairing. 3rd course- braised short ribs, Cherry red wine jus, parsnip purée, and rosemary baby carrots. 28 hours of slow braising on these ribs made them SO tender. The parsnip purée was a delightful change from mashed potatoes. The baby carrots had the right hint of rosemary. A beautiful plating that was simply devine. The NS 2019 Primivito was the house choice for pairing. Then Mike also served the 2019 Pinot Noir with this course. Both, nice choices. Dessert- what can you begin to say about dessert. We saw the tray of these tall decadent chocolate cakes when we first walked in, and suggested we start with them. Chef Daryl was proud of this vegan creation, and he should be!! Hard to believe it was vegan. Incredibly moist and devilish rich dark chocolate cake had a creamy center with snicker pieces, topped with a deep chocolate ganache and then drizzled with caramel. And yes damn it, I ate every bite !! The pairing was NS Reno Sparkles, "a happy zest of bubbles" with a hint of sweet. Major applause to the chefs and their staff for creating this fabulous experience. I really enjoyed the food and wine, but deeply appreciated each chef spending some time with us and sharing their passions. To Alynn and Mike, I hope you consider doing a few more of these dinners. The evening was fabulous and it was a great chance to highlight a few of your wonderful wines with elevated food.

This wine bar has a variety of wine from all around the world. Some expected wines from France and California, but also some more obscure ones from places such as Austria, so there is something for every taste! You can both order a wine by the glass or buy a bottle, which they will open for you to have onsite and that you can also take home if you don't finish it. Their prices are fair for a bottle and I wish I had done that instead of ordering a glass. The service was great! We had a huge group, yet the server was super patient and provided great recommendations to everyone. She was running around the whole time to take care of us and other patrons, but always did it with a smile on her face. I never felt rushed. They have limited snack options for purchase but allow you to bring in your own snacks as well. Finally, the space. It is on the smaller size but we were able to fit our group in without issues, while still leaving some open tables for other patrons. They also provide service on a handful of outdoor tables. The only minor issue is they had live music which felt quite loud in such a small place, but when asked, they were able to lower the volume a bit which was very nice of them!

This place is so cool and not cool at the same time…read more.. Here's the bad stuff... 1. Super construction going on and the parking lots are a mess, you don't know to go right or left and I got lost finding entrances even after 3 days.really dirty too. 2. The dirt doesn't stop there. Our first room we were given was so smokey I mean burning eyes smokey. There was a box fan sitting outside the room so I think they tried to air it out but it was like someone burned a cigar in there and just closed the door. 3. After going thru a room swap we were given another room. Fine but there was a dirty rag left in the bathroom counter with hairs all over it. Not a huge deal but still, come on right? 4. The late check out. Went to the front desk night before to make sure late check out was ok since we were at an event that morning. No problem they said you got until 4 with an additional fee. Great right? Nope since our room was a room that was attached to a suite they needed us out before that. Just come on again! 5. The service is just rude everywhere. I mean everyone you encounter! The Rim restaurant guy host in a suit..., I'm convinced was high as a kite. Don't believe me, go there and talk to him, holy! The security desk, rude and unhelpful. Anyone you call on the phone from the room, rude. I'm not expecting Disney customer service, but come on man! Someone teach these guys some customer service skills. So the good.... The resort is really cool. Bowling video games, nice casino, everything to spend a fun weekend. We may even come back just to do the pool and stuff to do there. To wrap it up... Lower your expectations. Your not going to get the cleanest room. Most certainly you will be treated rudely. It's a place that could be so epic but falls short due to just taking short cuts in the customer service, organization and just plain care about your whole experience factor. P.S. you will receive at least 5 text messages telling you about how great their spa is.

Here's an update…read more Grand Sierra Resort - Frustrating Stay Despite Being a Loyal Guest / 5 I have been coming to the Grand Sierra Resort annually for years -- once for my grandson's basketball tournament at the convention center, and again each July for a golf tournament. I consider myself a loyal, returning guest, which made this past weekend's experience all the more disappointing. When I checked in, the receptionist was genuinely kind and helpful -- a real bright spot. She offered me a room upgrade for $45 more per night and assured me she could place me on the same floor as my son, just down the hallway. I was excited. However, she then said she needed her manager's approval. The manager came over, barely acknowledged me, and flatly said no -- apparently reserving those rooms for other purposes. The receptionist apologized, but the damage was done. For a guest who returns here every year, that interaction felt dismissive and discouraging. The receptionist herself was wonderful, but the manager's handling of the situation left me feeling like my loyalty meant nothing. Later that evening around 8:30 PM, we headed back up to our room on the seventh floor and discovered that only one of the three elevators was operational. What followed was a 20-minute wait just to get on an elevator, packed in with other frustrated guests -- on a Saturday night, no less. Beyond the inconvenience, I couldn't help but think about what could happen in an emergency with two elevators out of service. That is a serious safety concern that management needs to address immediately. Outside of these issues, the rest of the stay was business as usual and accommodating. But given my history with this property, I expect better -- and loyal guests deserve better. I hope the Grand Sierra takes this feedback seriously before my next visit.

After nearly 10 months of planning, I expected the basics to be handled correctly. When we checked in, we were given a double room instead of the King room we reserved. I went back to the front desk and was told that because they were oversold for Thursday night, there was no way to move us into a King room at all during our stay. That explanation didn't make much sense--they confirmed they had King rooms available Tuesday and Wednesday, but because of the Thursday overbooking, they couldn't honor the reservation for any of the nights. So even though I booked months in advance and had already arrived, I was effectively bumped in favor of guests who hadn't even checked in yet. To make matters worse, only 2 out of 5 elevators were working the entire stay, which led to long waits (up to 20 minutes to get down in the morning) and added frustration. After the fact, I looked through other reviews and saw that this seems to be an ongoing issue, not a one-off situation. Between the reservation not being honored and the operational problems, it was a pretty disappointing experience overall. Skip this place.

In between were stories of hangings, rings thrown from the bridge, missing person/mob hits, possible prohibition liquor runs through alleged tunnels, and of course the church where the finale of Sister Act was filmed. There were also magic tricks, bad jokes, a look up in the sky gag for tour add-ons, a fake birthday song tribute to a surprised restaurant patron, and a very enjoyable and interactive outdoor experience. This expedition actually left me with wanting more in terms of local historical tidbits and stories. Maybe sometime post-COVID, a longer and smaller attended walking tour would be "in the cards". In the meantime, please buy a ticket to the Weird Reno walking tour and thank you Kalin, Jinger, Jacques, and family for a bringing a little welcome joy to such a challenging time. Sincerely - Shorty

It was nice to experience something new and much needed in a long time. I definitely recommend getting tickets. We were laughing throughout the tour. So much history of which I learned about that I had no idea.., which left me truly inspired. I'll keep an eye out as I overheard there would be special events around Halloween and the holidays yay! It was a great Saturday in which we were enchanted, outdoors and walking triple points. Even celebrating someone's birthday! If I have friends come from out of town I'll be sure to let them know to check out Weird Reno!

What a wonderful hidden treasure! We stopped for breakfast on our way to the Amtrak on March 20,…read moreand it was wonderful! We were greeted by a very friendly and welcoming young lady who took the time to explain all they offered on the menu. She made me an amazing vanilla latte-way better than Starbucks! The stuffed French Toast was amazing! Syrup was provided, but not needed. The scrambled eggs were also done very well and served by whom I assume was the chef. My husband had the shirred eggs, which he described as "Perfect and yummy. A perfect portion of bread and eggs." And the ambience so fun and unique! It was fun to walk around to look at all the art as we waited for our food and as we ate. They have paint parties Wednesday-Sundays. I wish I had known that before so we could have participated! I got a chicken salad sandwich on a croissant to go to eat on the train back to California (I haven't eaten that yet, but I'm sure it will be good!) I don't see myself returning to Reno, but if I ever do, I will definitely go back there and add Paint Night to the itinerary!!

I ordered the chicken salad sandwich and some water. The sandwich was delicious! I would definitely come back here to try out some more of their menu options. The downfalls... it was really hot. I'm not sure if that's the norm or not since it was our first time. Secondly.. it took forever to order. The two young ladies were stocking the fridge behind the counter.. said hi and then continued to stock the fridge. Finally another woman from the back came to the front to help us. Such a cute place and feels like a hidden gem! Would love to take a paint class.
