Mt Rushmore is a decent brewpub along the main strip in Custer. We sat on the second level of the patio for lunch which offered a limited menu from the Pounding Father's restaurant that is attached. I had the pizza which was solid but not great. It has a thin crispy crust. The beer menu seemed limited to it's core beers. It was only later that I saw the entire selection. The beer like the pizza is good enough but not among the best craft breweries I've been to. It's worth a visiting just don't set your expectations too high. Also they offer free table games including pool shuffleboard and foosball. read more

The beer was good. The wings were delicious. We had the Asian sweet and tangy sauce. We were greeted by a waiter who informed us they were out of about 5 different items on the menu. This was in the middle of the day with barely anyone in the place. I ordered a reuben sandwich and was informed they had no rye bread and would serve it on a bun! Um. No. I then ordered the Tuscan Romano Chicken Sandwich. It was mediocre at best. The flavors didn't quite go together. The cheese made everything else keep sliding off the sandwich. Our service was not very good. Three tables that arrived and ordered after us, got their food before us. I even mentioned to the waiter that we had somewhere to be and when he brought our food, he dropped off someone else's food that ordered after us to their table first. If you have a wheelchair, walker or cannot manage the stairs, no access to restaurant or to the restaurant's menu. if you are disabled, like beer & a limited menu, then all is well. Staff was not willing to consider serving restaurant's menu downstairs for disabled patrons in lieu of lack of accessibility to the upstairs. Food tried was decent. read more

Great place to stop in and have a tasty cold beer after a day at Custer State Park! Staff is top notch and a great brew house atmosphere.

The menu looked promising. We try to patronize the restaurants when we visit new places. We were warmly welcomed and sat immediately. I ordered a pizza and hubby prime rib, wedge salad, and Brussels sprouts. My ice tea was the powder type that come from the gun... yuk and I only had very little ice. Hubby's salad came and the blue cheese dressing was little more than barely flavored water. When dinner arrived the Brussels sprouts were rock hard. The prime rib was tough and over cooked. My pizza was to be a thin crust and it was, but it was nearly raw. Hopefully it was just a bad night. But be aware. read more

Horrible service. We finally got our drinks after being there about 30 mins and paid the bill. Cancelled our food order. What a mess! I had to tell the waiter that there was food sitting in the kitchen window - it had been there for about 20 mins. The lady bartender was a total B. She wasn't helping the waiter at all! She had a huge attitude towards everyone. So disappointing. Don't waste your time - there are several breweries in town. I would give it zero stars if that was an options. When in Rome you might eat pasta or pizza. When in Custer you gotta eat an Elk burger with a cold beer. No better way to end a day of hiking and sightseeing the Black Hills region with some classic American grub and brews. Really enjoyed the rustic, warehouse feel of the place. read more

My family's experience at Mt. Rushmore Brewing was superb. Our entrees came out looking and tasting sublime, with excellent service throughout the duration of the dinner. Miguel, our server, gave us a memorable experience through his great hospitality and amazing work ethic. However, a couple things that were mildly annoying were the outdoor chairs and lighting. The metal chairs on the patio were extremely uncomfortable, as you either sit way back in the chair or lean forward which irritates your back. Nothing in the middle. The outdoor lighting was also minimal, as we felt we were almost eating in the dark. Nevertheless, the service and food (the most important parts) outweighed these cons and we were beyond satisfied with our visit. Recommend. read more

We went here for a wedding rehearsal dinner and it was FANTASTIC. The food was over the top good from the bread, the salads, and the perfectly cooked pasta and pork tenderloin. What rivaled the food was the EXCELLENT service. From the second we arrived the team was kind, accommodating, and prompt. We had a great experience here while in Custer. When we entered we were told that the downstairs has beer and some food but the upstairs has a full menu. We chose to sit upstairs. I wanted to try one of their beers and the sweet waitress offered to bring one up for me! (I didn't realize how separate it all was). Great service! We shared a duck pizza and it was awesome! For The pounding fathers, the service was incredibly slow. I had the buffalo burger with Swiss cheese and the old bay seasoned fries with a side of chorizo Mac and cheese, the fries were good but the Mac and cheese looked to be just Kraft Mac and cheese and tasted like it too. The burger on the other hand was very bad, the burger was incredibly dry and tasted burnt and the bun was old and dry. We picked this spot since there were outdoor tables available. It was a little confusing on where to go because there wasn't a host when we visited but once we found a seat the server came quickly. I think the servers were busy but ours was friendly! We ordered the corn nugget and artichoke dip appetizers and both were good-wish there would have been more artichoke dip! They were out of the beer we wanted so we had one of the lighter ones on tap and it was OK. Buffalo burgers were good. Kids pizza was a little overdone maybe but 4 yo liked it! The outdoor games were popular. I think the upstairs Pounding Fathers section had a bigger menu and would be worth trying ad well. read more

Great food and drinks. Ate here with my husband and 3 kids -- great selection. I had the beer can chicken which was flavorful and filling. Husband had a filet when the chorizo mad and cheese which was the highlight of his meal. Kids had a variety of pizzas which they all enjoyed. Menu has a lot of variety. I'm from Chicago on vacation and SO impressed with this restaurant and brewery. Came with my sister and our dog and sat on the giant porch/patio. The service was amazing! We were a little overwhelmed by the amount of beer choices and our server suggested a flight. Such a fun experience, tasting all of their beers. However, the highlight for us was they have vegan options which is nearly unheard of out here. They Beyond Burger was great and the fries and onion rings were tasty. Beer is good here and a decent price (~$5). I went there once and there was an Asian male bartender who was extremely friendly and helpful and so was the waitress. I went 2 more times and there was a young female behind the bar who was extremely unfriendly and unhelpful spending her time barking orders at the wait staff which seemed to cause more confusion. I waited at the bar for a few minutes (only one other couple there) and no acknowledgement. We asked a server if he could take our beer order which he did and I heard him tell the bartender who quickly sent him away to do something. The bartender did some stuff behind the bar and then left the bar for awhile. Then, after about 10 minutes, another waitress asked if we had been helped. We said that we ordered beers 10 minutes ago. I saw her walk to the bar and then walk away. The bartender then served drinks to some other people that just sat at the bar so we finally just left and went to another bar (gold pan saloon) in town with good beer, quick service, nice bartender and was actually cheaper so I guess that it worked out.
