While we already had a mortuary in mind, we had no idea which cemetery to use. I set up a bunch of meetings and planned visits within the days right after my mother had passed, and I was quite disappointed with most of those we visited. I experienced poor customer service, a cemetery that didn't see very well kept, an inconvenient place to visit or some other issue. When I came across Paradise Memorial Gardens, I was extremely pleased with how well they communicated, their excellent customer service, and the layout and ease of visiting the cemetery. I had reached out to Dan and quickly heard back from him. I had told him what exactly we were looking for in terms of a location, stone, and service, and he certainly rose to the occasion to ensure that we had the date and time of the funeral and later an unveiling. He explained the prices and answered many questions that my family members and I had asked. Dan was responsive whether we were connecting right before the funeral or in the months that followed when planning an unveiling. For such a stressful time, I was pleased to have someone we made a connection with to reach out to. The actual Paradise Memorial Gardens cemetery is laid out nicely. Instead of other cemeteries where stones are all sticking up out of the ground, many of the stones are flat on the ground where they blend in with the nature. My mother's stone is near a big tree, which provides some shade when I visit her in hotter months. There is a small lake where swans and Canadian geese like to roam. For an interesting story, ask the staff about the swans. There is also a heated and air-conditioned mausoleum onsite which I had been in only once when a friend passed away a number of years ago. There is plenty of parking on the side of the single street that circles the site. There are two entrances, one off of Shea Blvd and the other off 92nd Street. While I didn't use them, I heard good things about the Messinger Mortuaries, which is directly tied to the Paradise Memorial Gardens. I certainly encourage anyone looking for a cemetery (and possibly a mortuary) to check them out.

I feel like Mom and I were on auto pilot those 6 days whilst preparing his visitation and funeral. We couldn't have asked for better humans to guide us through this process. I don't remember the man's name that came and got my father that evening but he was lovely, so respectful of my father and of us. Then we met with James at Messinger and Mom and I felt the same way about him. Everything explained in such detail, calm and soothing way about him. The men that were at the visitation at the door were lovely and they drove my Daddy to both the church and cemetery. Dwight and Dan at PMG have been such a delight to work with. It took Mom and I a minute (or 2 1/2 months) to go back to order his marker... but that too was done with ease. Dwight even came and said hello to us. They kinda feel like family. This is the hardest experience I have gone through to date and having these guys walking this walk with us was honestly such a blessing. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. My grandmother passed away on April 26th and prior to her passing, I did extensive research on funeral homes and mortuaries within the valley. I read hundreds of reviews and made many calls and Hansen just felt right. We selected Hansen to be who we would use when the need arose. A few weeks later, my grandmother peacefully slipped away. Her hospice team made contact with Hansen Desert Hills and the process was seamless and professional. Two days after her passing, we went to the Desert Hills location to make arrangements with Cami. Nothing felt pressured or sales-driven, as we had experienced years prior at another funeral home when my grandfather passed away. We had many variables at play, including a burial trust and plans for an out of state interment, and Cami navigated everything perfectly and expertly. We also interacted with Charlii the receptionist during this process and she was wonderful as well. We picked my grandmother's remains up the following week and had a lovely walk through Hansen's memorial garden. It was all very peaceful and again, just felt right. Megan the funeral director is VERY caring with the loved ones, the families requests and feelings. But in hard times losing a loved one, some people are more sensitive than others and don't understand or naïve to state, city and company rules, regulations and conflicting requests made by other family members. It is hard for one to balance those things and make the relatives understand and but sometimes a nerve gets hit and the relative or friend unravels in angry. I personally have used Shadow Mortuary a few times for relatives, and I can say positively they were the best I could ever hoped for. Our firefighters and Police will continue to use Megan and Shadow Mountain Mortuary to assist our lost brothers and sisters to their final resting place.

We strongly recommend that families think twice before entrusting Phoenix Memorial Park with their…read moreloved one's remains. Our experience was appalling, not because of one minor mistake, but because even simple, specifically agreed-upon instructions were not followed to our satisfaction. We had a signed contract requiring tamper-evident tape on our father's urn/container before it was transferred to an attorney for safekeeping. Instead, the photograph we received showed what appeared to be ordinary tape on a cardboard container. When we raised the fact that this was not the tamper-evident tape specified in the agreement, we were told that regular tape would make it "obvious" if the container had been opened. That response was astonishing. The issue was not whether someone at Phoenix Memorial Park believed ordinary tape was good enough. The issue was that tamper-evident tape was specifically agreed upon. A written agreement should mean something. The documentation was equally unacceptable. We were supposed to receive photographs of our father's container entering the crematorium. What we received was so blurry that we could not clearly read the identifying information that should have shown our father's name and identification number. Even the photograph of the container afterward was blurry. How difficult is it to take a clear photograph? These photographs concerned the identity and handling of our father's remains. This was not the time or place for careless documentation. When a family asks for photographs specifically so there is a record of what happened to their loved one's remains, the identifying information should actually be readable. Then, rather than simply addressing our concerns and providing adequate documentation, we were told to communicate through an attorney. Think about that. A grieving family should not have to pay an attorney to ask a funeral home to follow written instructions, answer basic questions, or provide clear photographs. We did have our attorney respond, yet the documentation we received still did not meet what we considered a reasonable standard. This complaint is not done. The handling of someone's remains demands precision, accountability, and respect. There are no do-overs. Families should be able to trust that written agreements will be followed exactly and that important documentation will be clear enough to actually document something. Our experience left us with very little confidence in Phoenix Memorial Park. If attention to detail, clear documentation, honoring written agreements, and responsive communication matter to you, we strongly suggest considering another provider. We certainly would not choose Phoenix Memorial Park again.
