How, in the world, did I find authentic Californian-style-Mexican dinning in the middle-of-nowhere, Indiana?! I don't know, but I drive over an hour one way from Chicago to indulge in the Mucho Nachos, at least once a month. It's that good. It's beyond good, it's a novelty that just won't wear off! The nachos are (literally) the diameter of a large pizza. They have the most stimulating lemon, taco seasoning on the tofu! It comes with homemade guacamole, sour cream, tomatoes, black/pinto beans, cheese, etc. Everything tastes clean, fresh, and flavorful. This place itself is cool, artsy, and is succesfully jazzying up an otherwise small town. Vegan and vegetarian friendly. Basically, everything is good. Mucho Mas certainly lives up to its name. Holy moly. They should make you sign a disclaimer with as much food that you get. Something like "WARNING: Outrageous portions. You may overeat. Exercise extreme caution!" The nachos themselves are epic. A mere HALF order is enough to feed a normal-sized family of four. I just can't write enough about the quality of this place. And, as others have remarked, in downtown LaPorte even. You can tell that the meat, vegetables, sauces, and other filling in their enormous burritos are high-quality. I'm not a vegetarian, but it's also nice to see that they cater to the meatless and gluton-less among us. Even if you have no reason to be in LaPorte, take the opportunity and make a trip for lunch sometime. You won't be sorry. Just plan on having the leftovers for dinner. read more

I'll tell you what, this is great! I usually grab a burrito, but have tried the stacked enchilladas (imagine enchilladas in lasagna form). Recently, Mucho Mas received their liquor license, which means they can serve beer. And they serve good beer! I ordered a Greenbush ale and there were other great local options as well. During busy times most of the tables can be full. The turnover is high, though. Just go in and order at the counter in the back. They bring your food to you when it's ready. The burritos are large! And you can choose your own salsa at the salsa bar. Enjoy! read more

Fresh. Huge portions. I had the shrimp burrito and it was satisfying. Stuffed with fresh veggies. The shrimp were just small cocktail size pieces however, which was disappointing. I thought they'd be seasoned and delicious but sadly, no. If you're looking for a healthy alternative to Tex-mex this is your place. I wouldn't say anything is authentic Mexican though. Stopped by this place based on other reviews on Yelp. As recommended ordered the fish tacos. Wife had the shrimp tacos. More on the food later. The way this place works is that you place your order at the back counter, are given a number, and the food is delivered to your table. The decor is "bigger city" trendy, with a few seats in the window looking out onto the street, some on a small elevated inside deck, and the rest on the main floor. The vibe is almost like you are in a restaurant in a big college town. Very cool. Chips are extra but well worth it. I would also recommend the guacamole, which is awesome because Mucho Mas makes theirs without fresh chopped onion - so the avocado and other more subtle flavors can shine. Drinks, the salsa bar, and utensils are all self-serve. What about the rest of the food? Very good. They offer black beans, and rice with the taco platters, and you choose how many tacos you want. We really appreciated being able to order the tacos exactly how we wanted. You can get them "mexi" style. "cali" style, etc. Which basically means flour or corn tortillas, cilantro, cabbage, onions, sauces, cheeses - your choice. This flexibility is way cool. As others have noted, they also offer tofu and have lots of vegetarian options for those that do not eat meat. All things considered this place does lots of smart things with their food and really has a customer-focus when it comes to taking care of patrons. The only real downside noted was that the fish tacos are made with breaded tilapia, and unfortunately the breading is quite thick and dense. I simply peeled it off and was fine with that, but be forewarned if you are used to cali-mex grilled fish tacos. Also the salsa bar and drink serving area needs to be cleaned more often. The spoons that patrons serve their sauces with are not the best, and it is very easy to miss the small sauce cups. Perhaps a small serving ladle would help? Overall this place has great well-thought out food, a very neat and cool vibe, and is certainly unique in this area. Consider Mucho Mas! a "must visit" if you find yourself anywhere near La Porte. read more

Typed VEGAN into the search field on our trip home to Detroit from Chicago and this is the first place that popped up. Super glad we stopped! Just 4 miles off 94 this is a fresh mex place with heart. My guy got a huge burrito stuffed with a whole freakin avocado and delicious veg. I had the soy-Rizo street tacos and couldn't finish my heaping plate. Skip Chipotle, check out this place! We were in town visiting and my dad insisted we try this place, since my husband is obsessed with mexican food. I was just hungry so we ventured to Mucho Mas! Wow! Would be a great word to express how good this place is and the variety of options you have. So why 4 stars? I'm hard to please, and because they only have 2 high chairs in the whole facility, but say they are a family restaurant is an automatic star withdrawal. Holding a squirmy 2 year old is SO much fun! Where do I begin? The little girl behind the counter might as well fly to work on a broom. She is the nastiest, rudest, little brat. Why are you working in the service industry when you can even answer simple questions without attitude? The menu is very small, written on a wall behind the counter. If you don't immediately order, she jumps your case. The food was horrible. Why does anything need that much cilantro? Literally cannot eat anything other than the chips/salsa from this place. After we were turned away at Stop 50 at 6pm, we came to Mucho Mas instead. It was soooooo good. I had the fajita plate and it was a mountain of food. The steak was so tender, not chewy, and perfectly seasoned. My wife had the nachos and they were equally large and incredible. All 3 kids cleaned their plates with no complaints. Excellent food. I had the Mexi-style tacos and the (wet) Mucho Burrito so far, and it's almost as good as the best Tex-Mex restaurants in Texas. Prices are very reasonable and the food comes quickly. Their drink situation still needs some work though. There's not enough space on the left side of their soda fountain, so expect a sticky wall if you try to get the root beer on the left. They offer Jarritos soda (yay!), but it's way overpriced ($3.88), and it was warm straight out of the cooler. Despite this, the food is so good that I'll be back. read more

I have been coming here for years and have had great food consistently until Saturday. Not sure what you did to the steak or where you got it for Saturday but it was dry and rubbery so out of 8 steak tacos 3 people all said same thing and one got a big piece of fat in their taco. Very unfortunate as this use to be a go to place with exceptional steak tacos. It will be a while before going back unless they can tell me what happened on Saturday, for $40 I can go anywhere else. read more
