    Mango margarita
    Sarah S.

My new favorite Mexican spot! They have an amazing happy hour and the bartenders/servers are so down to earth. They seem to keep regulars easily because of how friendly the service is. I've seen multiple customers greet them by their name. They give unlimited hot chips and salsa and the chips are deep fried and crispy. SO good. Guac is also good, I'd get a medium to share between two. Their blueberry margarita is the best margarita I've had in my life. They recommended black cherry for next time since that also super popular! I got the $20 flight for four and they offer over 10 different flavors including peach, passion fruit, guava, jalapeño, blueberry, black cherry, Jamaica, kiwi, lychee, tamarindo, etc. I'd honestly come back for their margaritas alone. The good food is just a plus. Happy hour also includes beer! Mulitas only $10. 2-6pm everyday! They have lots of street parking and a parking lot as well. They also have sports playing on several screens so it's a great place to watch football! Very nicely decorated interior and I'll definitely be back!

AMAZING FOOD! I came here during my lunch break to get a to-go order and I ordered the Cancun Burrito which came with shrimp. Rice and beans, chips and salsa. PORTIONS ARE GENEROUS!! Food was delicious and service was impeccable! I recommend anybody in the area to come here for lunch or dinner or anytime you're craving some good food!!!

Wasn't good the steak was old and dry

Everything about this spot was disappointing, Service was the worst first off, All the waiters just hanging out and it was slow and it took about 10 min just to order and another 10 just for the check and the food was disappointing, I rather go eat Don coco or el Totoro

I'm sad. It's taking me this long since it's one of my favorite Mexican restaurants of all time. Incredible food, always changing menu, and great service. The ambience is incredible as well and they always have cool sports events going on. I recommend the Arroz con Pollo, or the Chili verde. Plus get the guacamole. They bring these extra crispy chips that are incredible!

The transition from a walk-up, to-go order turned double bagged hand-off with subsequent belly-flop onto wet burrito containing an amount of carnitas (delicate) that would be able to, in fact, satisfy a decently hungry family of four, was smooth and entertaining enough inside the Don Quixote adorned restaurante. La historia, indeed, still has place to be heard inside walls of old ranch houses such as those of Mucho Mas.

    Yum!!!!

Great service and great food the chips dont need a review they are great! The servers are great and very friendly Thank you!

I wonder if mucho mas has margaritas to go! Burrito and margarita go hand in hand?

Don't know about to-go, legally? But don't make it a double, they charged me MORE than double a regular?

Mucho Mas reopened today! August 18th, 2022. Can't wait to go?

Just tried to call no answer no machine, is it really open?

Will you ever reopen? It has been my favorite mexican restaurant for 20 years and we miss the tortilla soup so much!

Just drove by in the evening last weekemd and noticed the exterior lights were back on. Drove by in the daylight yesterday and it looks like they have recently painted the building too! Hoping they reopen with the same menu and staff!!!

Is this business open, because of fire that happened it looks closed?

Business has re-opened as of 8/18/22. Enjoy!

Please advise when you guys are back open? I miss the food - even if all we can get is takeout. (Good timing on the renovations by the way)

Building has been painted in the past few weeks and exterior lighting has been on at night.. really hopeful they are in the process of rebuilding and reopening with the same menu!!

The menu is quite simple, but beware that no prices are listed on the main menu, but they are on the paper menus. They accept Apple Pay/credit cards. I ordered the asada burrito and the pollo caramelo and added the grilled poblano (as recommended on Yelp!). The tortillas were the true stars -- soft, nice chew, with a buttery mouth feel (probably lard). The fillings were just ok. The inside reminded me of a Taco Bell 7 layer burrito -- a lot going on but all the flavors kinda blend together. I (incorrectly) thought the beans were refried, but they are not. Whatever is going on inside, I didn't find much structure. The burrito was the best. The caramelo was a lazily folded burrito. I read that it was like a quesadilla, but I couldn't disagree more. I would skip this next time. I spent $25 and it was a lot of food, but I wasn't impressed, especially given the hype and the fact that LA should really be the pinnacle of Mexican food. Not sure if I'll make a second trip here.

Cute building with lovely patio seating: from the trailing hanging pothos plants, Spanish tiles, to relaxing latin-house music the vibes were welcoming. I'm not much of a drinker though, when asked if I wanted to make my pina colada a "float" I thought incorrectly about ice cream. It was graciously explained that you take an additional shot of rum and float it on top of the drink or mix in to make it extra boozy. The pina colada is top notch they hollow out a real pineapple to make the drink and it's the size of your face! The watermelon cocktail was delicious and there is also a mezcal option. Tasted like if a watermelon aqua Fresca was combined with a margarita, there is a hint of salt that brings out the fruit sweetness. We special ordered a bunch of different proteins and vegetables at half portions to make a feast: Aguachile- Light refreshing starter, kanpachi perfectly marinated and great for the summer heat. Crispy potato- Phenomenally done fingerling potatoes. Whipped beans- Carnitas on top made this dish. Fried chicken tacos- Found the chicken slightly on the dry side, if there was a creamy/thicker sauce would be even better... nothing wrong with flavor, good mild heat. I did enjoy the fresh shredded cabbage and carrots, reminded me of bahn mi. Empanadas- Loved the acidity of the sauce that cut through the fattiness of the ground meat. Light shell. Crispy Squash flower- Delicate crunch, like an angelic version of a jalapeno popper. Lamb chops- Definition of "treat-yourself" luxurious meat lollipops. Celery salad- Simple dish but the lemon flavor and tartness really helped break up the richness of other dishes. Churros- Light crunch and small, petite dessert. The thin caramel sauce is addicting. Fine dining, for those special occasions or if you just want to splurge for a morale boost highly recommend this restaurant. The staff are lovely humans who really seem to care about their customers. We have some faves on the menu. The bean dip is fabulous and I'm addicted to the baby gem salad. They have recently amped up the filling in the delicious crispy squash blossoms and I love the acidity and heat. The fish is also a hit in my books. One dish that doesn't work for me is the lamb chops, which is a shame since it's my favorite protein. I've ordered them multiple times with clear instructions on temperature and have found them overcooked and tough. The beef tostada was just ok. Whilst I loved the pickled veg on the side, the beef was underseasoned. It wasn't bad - just not up to the standard of other dishes. The vibe in the place is welcoming and the restaurant is nicely appointed. We will continue to be regulars and it's really worth trying if you haven't been yet.

My wife and I both ordered the Mole Coloradito with chicken, and it was absolutely delicious. One detail we really appreciated was being able to choose between white meat or dark meat--a thoughtful touch that lets you customize your meal to your preference. The mole was rich, complex, and full of flavor, exactly what you would hope for from a restaurant known for its Oaxacan specialties. As a welcome appetizer, they bring fresh chips and salsa to the table, but what really impressed us was when they replaced the salsa with their incredible mole sauce. I was really hoping to leave a positive review, but unfortunately that wasn't the case…read more I've been to Mirate before on June 20, and my experience then was nothing like my visit on July 10, 2026. One of the reasons I recommended Mirate is because it's known for being a highly rated modern Mexican restaurant with exceptional service and knowledgeable staff, especially when it comes to tequila and mezcal. Unfortunately, that was not my experience at all. Before ordering food, I asked our server about the differences between the mezcals and which flight they would recommend. The only explanation I received was, "It's just different families, so I'd go with the higher quality one." There was no real information or guidance, and it was obvious they didn't know much about the mezcal selection. I ended up choosing one based solely on what sounded best. We were then informed that the menu had recently changed and is now mostly tapas. That's perfectly fine, but I noticed several items from my previous visit were still available, so I figured I'd order a few favorites along with some new dishes. Most of the food was actually great. The ribeye tacos, tostada, and buñuelitos were all delicious. However, the carne asada was extremely disappointing. We only sent back one plate because I felt bad sending both, and that's when a manager (the gentleman with the man bun) came over. He explained that they have a new chef from Oaxaca, but what confused me was that they were serving Argentinian-style steaks as their carne asada. Instead of a traditional Mexican-style cut, it was thin, flat, and honestly looked like a breakfast steak. For a restaurant that prides itself on being a modern Mexican restaurant, serving Argentinian steak as carne asada just didn't make sense to me. To his credit, he removed both carne asada plates from our bill, which I genuinely appreciated. After that, he asked if there was anything else we'd like. I personally said no, but someone else at the table asked for one more ribeye taco. The manager replied, "You know what? I'll bring you one, and I'll bring them another too." Naturally, I assumed he was offering the extra taco as a goodwill gesture since I hadn't ordered anything else. Imagine my surprise when I looked at the bill and realized both tacos had been added to our tab. I wasn't going to argue over the price of a taco, but it was frustrating because I never asked for it. In fact, I ended up giving that taco away to my friends. If it wasn't complimentary, it shouldn't have been presented as if it were. Another thing worth mentioning is that while the carne asada portion has clearly gotten much smaller, the price remains exactly the same, which doesn't seem justified. Overall, my biggest disappointment is that there was no indication when making the reservation that this was essentially an experimental period with a new chef introducing major menu changes. Had I known beforehand, I never would have recommended Mirate for our dinner, and to be completely honest, I probably wouldn't have made a reservation at all. I only get two days off each month, so this was supposed to be something I could really enjoy. Instead, it honestly felt like a waste of my time and money. I'm sorry to say that while there were a few good moments, they faded very quickly. Unfortunately, the negative parts are what have stayed with me, and that's what I'll remember most about the experience. It's disappointing because I know how great Mirate can be since I experienced it just a few weeks ago. I truly hope they can regain the quality of food, service, and overall experience that made me recommend it in the first place . ( for the picture of the flat carne asada the full steak has 2 more strips added but we had tried it before taking a picture however that's MOST of the "carne asada" portion in the picture )

And I live in Portland, which has really good vegetarian options. First of all, I could eat like 75% or more of the menu as a pescatarian. I was thrilled and so overwhelmed because I normally don't have that many choices! First of all, the water was infused and was delicious. I browsed the menu and had a really hard time deciding, but ended up on the cauliflower rajas taco, the crispy shrimp taco & the vegan Korean BBQ taco. The waiter recommended the crispy shrimp taco, but I actually enjoyed the vegetarian tacos more. I love cauliflower and poblano so that taco was a great starter. So much flavor and a variety of textures. The tortillas were super flavorful too. The potato taquitos came next and I am actually obsessed. The outside was perfectly crispy, the interior was soft, flavorful & cheesy. The sauce complimented it perfectly. I can not recommend them enough. The crispy shrimp taco was really good, but I also tried a crispy fish taco and would honestly get that over the shrimp. I think there was mango or something in the coleslaw of the fish taco because it had a really nice fresh flavor to it. Last, I had the vegan Korean BBQ taco. The mushroom shreds & the flavor were just perfect. Again, as a pescatarian I have really never had Korean BBQ because it's so heavily meat focused. I truly loved this taco. If I hadn't discovered it on my last night in LA, I might've come back on my short trip. The whole place is just a vibe and the food was beyond excellent.

It's been many decades having this goodness…read more Quality value flavorful authentic supporting local business fresh plethora goodness The chili relleno burrito I pass on as there was a thicker egg batter than chili that was quite small in comparison to size of burrito The original hollenbeck absolutely hands down tender spice stuffed goodness Rice beans guac stuffed away Their veggie burrito also worth the value All burritos very shareable or leftover worthy or have an amazing happy belly Would certainly purchase and try other goodness!

I work in East Los often, this is one of those places the locals always recommend. On a couple…read morelunchtimes I ordered through DoorDash for pick up, quick easy and convenient. The building is an original piece of the City's history, boasting a menu that features their famous burritos that vary in size from a regular to a huge party size beast that can feed several. I tried the Hollenbeck and the Okie burritos on two separate occasions via pick up, as aforementioned, the service was quick, convenient and the pick up window is seamless, parking is located next to the structure and I haven't had problems getting there. Hollenbeck was good but I definitely enjoyed the Okie burrito more, I ordered the "original" size once and didn't seem to learn my lesson the second time, these burritos can feed two in Original size. They offer a "Mini" version which would be satisfactory for one person. My favorite thing about these burritos is how "home-made" they are, the salsas and meats are fresh and taste like they came out of an abuelitas kitchen. I still need to try the crunchy tacos and nachos which look great, I recommend trying this classic establishment at least once if you're in the area.

OMG!!! Talk about a feast for your eyes, mouth and stomach!!!! WOW!!!! I've been telling all my…read morefriends about this place. I don't even know where to start! A friend of mine read about this seafood restaurant as one of the top restaurants in LA and since I love eating (don't know if I am foodie but I love to eat), we had to give it a shot and boy it was definitely worth the shot. This place is in the heart of LA, I'm not a big fan of driving to LA but for an awesome restaurant, I'll make it an exception. First off, they do not serve alcohol. I usually love my oysters and ceviche with an ice-cold beer, but I had a diet coke instead and it definitely did not hit the spot but it was still good. I don't know if you can BYOB. We first started with the Sea Urchin ($28) - The sea urchin was on a bed of bay scallop's. so much flavor with a delicate sweetness. Ceviche Mixto (Shrimp and Octopus) ($23) - huge portion, perfect with their home-made hot sauce and crunchy corn tortillas. Shrimp Aguachile ($28) - raw marinated shrimp with fried shrimp heads. Love the sourness of the shrimp and the crunchy shrimp heads. perfect combination. 6 piece mixed raw oysters ($22) - yum!!!!! nice and meaty and the perfect paring with their home-made hot sauce. Camarones Al Mojo entree ($32) - HUGE prawns with garlic, butter and chile marinade. it was perfect with their rice and beans. My friend and I have already planned to make another visit very soon with several of our friends.

My family of three had lunch here on Saturday. We got there at 11:15 and had to wait about 45…read moreminutes (which we expected). There was plenty of parking in the adjacent lot (I believe this is the DMV lot and was available as DMV was closed; during weekdays I can imagine the parking can be challenging). Plenty of seating as well given it's part of a larger "food court" and lots of communal tables, both inside and outside. We sat outside as the weather was perfect. I can see what the hype is about. For the most part, the food is super fresh, presented in an awesome manner and the cost is very reasonable for the quality of the seafood. I only wish they sold beer/wine as it would be been perfect to enjoy a beer with some of the dishes. We had: Erizo (Sea Urchin) - 5/5 - Probably the best dish of the meal. Ceviche made of fresh urchin and scallops, one of the best fresh urchin dishes I have ever had. Pata de Mula (raw blood clams) - 4/5 - The sauce on the clams was very good, my only "knock" is that the sauce overpowered the clams so it was hard to taste the actual clams. Spot Prawn/Scallop Aguachile - 4.5/5 - I though the scallops and the aquachile sauce were great. The spot prawns were a bit flavorless. I would order this again just with the scallops next time. Coctel Mixto - 3/5 - Maybe my least favorite dish of the meal. The taste was fine, I just thought the coctel "sauce" (more like a cold soup) was overpowering for the fresh seafood. Octopus Taco - 5/5 - The other favorite of the meal, probably the best octopus tacos I've had. Overall a great meal, and I would look forward to going back.
