Caught the USA World Cup soccer game here. It was a blast; they had really good specials and happy hour prices during game time. I arrived early to wait for a friend, and they patiently allowed me to wait for my friend even though they do have a rule to have the entire party ready to be seated. I was seated before my friend even arrived. I ordered chips and a drink while I waited and watched the game at their back patio. Once he arrived, we ordered a platter and some more drinks and had a good time watching the game. They had a raffle, and I won a USA flag, very exciting! I came here for happy hour (on a weekend! 4-7 nice!) We had a friend running almost 45 minutes behind us, but our waitress didn't seem put out at all by the fact that we were sitting and nursing one drink while gobbling warm chips for almost an hour. Came by for lunch today with a couple of friends. We had made a reservation in advance but didn't need to, they had plenty of tables available. They serve chips and salsa right away when you sit down, and they're complimentary - and quite tasty! The chips are really good and crunchy. We all got margaritas, I got a house margarita with a tajin rim. It tastes a little smoky despite them saying it's not made with mezcal so they weren't my favorite marg but they were decent. They have a ton of different marg options on their menu. We ordered guac which was good but it was overpriced for what it is, especially compared to other menu items. Good for sharing though. For my main, I got the ceviche tostada. It's in the appetizer section but it's definitely big enough to be a whole meal. You get two tostadas and they came loaded with ceviche - shrimp and white fish. I enjoyed them and it definitely filled me up but I recommend adding lime and hot sauce. read more

Love this place for Happy Hour ! I've have been coming here for awhile now . I love their Carne asada fries , I always ask for extra jalapenos too! Its a pretty big serving for happy hour food . We had an order delivered to the local hotel where we're staying. The order arrived on time, but there was no flatware and no tortillas for my carne asada (ribeye steak) dish. When placing the order, we specifically selected the option requesting flatware. The description of the carne asada also stated that the steak comes with either flour or corn tortillas. However, when I called the restaurant, the person I spoke with told me that the carne asada does not come with tortillas and that I needed to request flatware separately, even though we had already done that. Since we were staying at a hotel, I ended up going downstairs to the hotel restaurant just to get some flatware. Unfortunately, once I was finally able to eat the food, things got even worse. The ribeye was absolutely terrible, easily one of the worst ribeye steaks I've ever had. The beans were just as bad. The only part of the entire meal that I actually enjoyed was the rice, which was pretty good. Between the missing flatware, the missing tortillas despite the menu description, and the extremely poor quality of the food, this was a very disappointing experience. read more

Juan, our server, provided friendly and attentive service. I ordered the shredded beef chimichanga and a delicious blended mango margarita. Everything was so good. This was my first visit to Tequilas and I came on a Thursday when they were offering all you could eat tacos & a beer for $20, what a deal! We sat in the bar area which was a little crowded but only because it was small, but this is also lent to a very cozy vibe. Most of the people were sitting in the tent out back where it was a lively and festive atmosphere. The taco table was also in the back with four kinds of meat being cooked continuously to stay fresh. Really enjoyed the atmosphere here and our bartender provided excellent service. Tequilla's is shockingly inconsiderate of their neighbors, and the residents living behind them. Instead of employees parking on Magnolia where there is ample free parking, and physically closer to Tequilla's. their employees use our side street as their employee parking lot. So we are unable to park in front of our own homes. Especially burdensome on trash and street sweeping days. The residents living here have very limited parking, and our elderly, and handicapped neighbors are forced to park and walk blocks away. When my neighbor spoke to the bar tender asking if he would please park his massive burgundy truck Magnolia so he could put out his trash cans, the bartender yelled. "THAT'S YOUR PROBLEM! I CAN PARK WHERE I WANT!" Which is true, but inconsiderate, and unnecessary considering Magnolia has even closer free parking all night. read more

There are some people here on Yelp complaining about bad service experiences and honestly, I have no idea what they are talking about. Carmen, Joana, Juan, and the rest of the Tequila's staff treat us SO well every time we come here. They know us by name, where we are from and what we do in LA, and always make a point to check in on us if the restaurant is not busy. Food wise, it's truly the best Mexican food I've ever had outside of Mexico. We come here at least once a week and have tried many things on the menu. All are good with many items being truly great. For LA standards, menu prices are reasonable. Their back patio is such a great hang. Feels like a community environment more akin to a small town than some pretentious influencer hub. We arrived around 11:30 and there was no wait at all, and only a couple other occupied tables. The waiter was very efficient throughout our meal. We were prepared to order from the brunch menu, but we were happy to learn the full menu was available. We both ordered burritos. The Tequilas steak burrito was great, and the chile colorado burrito was excellent - perfectly cooked meat and flavourful sauce. The burritos came with a little pot of refried beans, one (1) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle-green tortilla chip, and Mexican rice (no peas). We used to come here at least once a week for over five years because we live within walking distance and used to love it for that reason. But the last few times we went, Juan has been not only rude but also seemed completely uninterested in serving us, which has been very off putting. His daughters, who often works the same shifts, has remained nice and that honestly kept us coming back for a while. But the last straw for us was Juan being so rude and complacent, and when we were ignored for service even though it was barely busy. We have not gone there recently and have found alternative places within driving distance. It is disappointing because we really loved this place when we first started going, when it was good food, good service, and convenient as our neighborhood walking spot. Enjoy this place. The food is delicious and you get a good food portions. The happy hr and brunch hrs are great as well. They no longer offer bottomless mimosas but they offer them by the glass or by the bottle $18 per bottle to be exact and you get two juice options. The service and ambience is welcoming. It's clean and you are treated as soon as you walk in. The hrs need to be updated on Yelp (already submitted the request) as this Sunday we got there at 11 thinking it was opened but they changed the open time to 11:30am. Not sure what happened, but our most recent visit was our last. Enchiladas tasting like they were made with BBQ sauce, food was cold, and even the beans and rice were bad. This was the worst molcajete and biggest waste of $50 on a single dish I have ever spent at a restaurant in my life! First of all now it comes in a tin foil dish inside the rock when traditionally it is supposed to be inside the actual rock dish to stay hot and get charred and melt over the rock. It was not hot, barely warm since they only use the stone for show now, which defeats the whole point of this traditional dish. The "salsa" in the middle was a overload of water down tomatoe mush with zero flavor. The meats tasted boiled and soggy in all that mush and the cheese is monterey jack instead of traditional Mexican cheese such as Oaxaca and Chihuahua. There was barely any meat to begin with and I had to fish whatever was there from the mushy tomatoes. When I asked why is it like this and told them it's the worst I've ever seen and had, he proceeded to give me a attitude and didn't offer a solution. It was ridiculous! They should remove this dish off of the menu if they are going to serve it like this! On top of that they were all so tense and awkward after I mentioned I was disappointed in the dish as if they had all been gossiping in the kitchen because they never came back to my table except to give me the check 45 mins later. In those 45 mins, they overcharged the check for the table in front of us, which was frustrating for them and made the wrong flavored margarita for the table behind us. We were the only 3 tables in the whole restaurant!! We were actually shocked at how this place stays open serving dishes like this and making that many mistakes. I will never spend a single dollar here again! I'll stick to Don Cuco or Los Amigos down the street, so much more authentic, cozy, and better prices. read more

We start to eat and they come over and they want to take our plates and move us to another table and I'm like no we're eating. we're not moving and I said to the guy are you kidding me and he got pissed off at me.
