Since its FREE ENTRY, it's a little bit crowded, but it's not too bad. We were able to get food from six trucks, and enjoy all of the attractions in a span of three hours! FOOD - There's so much to choose from: sushi, vietnamese, shaved ice, lebanese, mediterranean, french, southern, and a lot more! Since it was such popular event, most of the food trucks sold out of some of their items :( Some of them even cut their portions in half to keep up with the demand. It is understandable, but it made me a bit sad because the items I wanted to try were always sold out. Anyway, Me So Hungry and The Hungry Nomad were my favorites that day. DEMONSTRATIONS - I saw glimpses of the honey informational presentation. I wanted to see the butchery one, but that was the following day. There was also a lot of contests as well, but you had to register beforehand. There were so many things going on the whole day... I kind of wished I stayed the whole time. MUSIC - Many artists/bands played on the main stage. Most of them were indie bands, and the majority of the songs that were performed were covers. Still, it was good entertainment for those long lines in the trucks. The so-called Carmageddon didn't stop my family or my friends from coming :) Would definitely come back next year if they did it again.

Also, the educational portion of the event is what really drew me in: teaching people how to grow and make their own foods, etc. Even bought a set of seedlings from a booth and my arugula is already sprouting! Volunteers were manning the compost, recycling, and landfill stations - offering directions as to where to put your waste. Loved that the beer garden served all the beers in refillable glass (score!) jars. The prices were reasonable across the board, too. All in all we had a fantastic time. Please come back next year!

He made the class straighforward and the recipe easy to understand. Everything was laid out in advance of us needing it and there was a good combination of demonstration and letting us students do the work on our own. There were several ingredients for us to choose from (to put in our chocolate) but it had also been in the instructions to bring your own mix-ins if desired, which several people did. For those of us who did not bring our own wine, red & white was passed out at the end of the evening to enjoy with a piece of our hand-made chocolate...which by the way was delicious! I mean, this girl needs her fucking fruit cup on a regular basis. Anyhow, I was a bit skeptical and it took a few weeks before I actually tried this particular fruit stand, which is also conveniently located walking distance from our place of employment. So I finally decided to try this vendor's fruit (non-sexual). There are 3 different sizes available: small container, large container, and a cup. The cup is by far the best value...granted I haven't inquired about the other 2 sizes. Anyways, the cup is large size and only 4 bucks for whatever the hell you want! The first time I went, I decided to get all of the fruit so as to not be discriminatory towards any of the fruit and give them all a chance. All of the fruit consists of mango, watermelon, cantaloupe, pineapple, orange, coconut, cucumber, and jicama. You then get the option of having delicious key lime squeezed all over the fruit as well as salt and/or chili powder. Being of Hispanic descent I opted for the chili-powder, however; due to my white washed as fuck interior, I got way too much. Regardless of the chili-powder mistake, that shit was delicious. Every piece of fruit is perfectly ripe and full of flavor. It's all so fresh...so fresh you feel like you're in a cool, summer oasis, with lemurs bringing you fresh fruit. SO....I was hooked. I'm not a big fan of all of the fruit so my next cup had some modifications. Also, my friend (the obsessed one) has a combination that is pretty much perfect: Mango, cantaloupe, watermelon, pineapple, and lots of lime juice. I loved getting that with a little bit of chili. Jose Rodriguez really cares about what he's putting out with his fruit stand. He is perfectly consistent and will cater to whatever combination you want. The coupon was a…read more$25 for $50 deal, and had expired, so I went in only expecting to trade it in for the original $25 I spent on the coupon, NOT the $50 coupon deal. As it is standard with online coupon services such as Groupon and AmazonLocal that although the promotional value will expire on a specified date, the amount paid WILL NEVER EXPIRE and will continue to be honored by the merchant after the promotional value expires, I assumed there would be no problem. However, where many vendors will not only allow one to spend the amount paid but will even allow the customer to use the promotional value of expired coupons as well, ELF would not even allow me to trade in the GatherGreen certificate for $25 worth of product. I would understand if they simply wouldn't let me use the promotional deal of $50, but just--keeping my original $25 and not giving me $25 worth of products? I was only asking for $25 worth of merchandise, for the $25 I had already paid, yet the girl acted like I was demanding a special favor. She kept saying that the coupon had expired and could no longer be honored. No matter how many different ways I explained it, she couldn't understand that I WASN'T ASKING FOR THE COUPON TO BE HONORED. I wasn't asking to spend the promotional amount of $50, I only wanted to spend the non-promotional amount of $25. This is STANDARD PRACTICE with every other online coupon service I've tried. Finally I gave up, when my phone alerted me that my meter was about to expire. Probably for the best, as my capacity for civil interaction felt like it too was about to expire. I am not one to yell or throw tantrums, but as I walked back to my car, I could see how one might be driven to such behavior. I also felt sad, because previous to this experience, I would have given ELF five stars like everyone else. Their products--with the exception of the Indonesian cacao--have never disappointed me. I've been in the raw lifestyle and a regular ELF customer for years. Maybe I've been lucky with exceptional service in the past, but this is the only one star review of a business that I've ever given, and I'm not giving them one star because their products aren't good. I'm giving them one star because my experience with the GatherGreen coupon situation was so negative that I was in tears when I left. I'm giving them one star because I don't feel good supporting them by purchasing from them any longer. This was especially upsetting because the other reason I'd gone in to ELF was to set up a wholesale account. Our raw food business has been using ELF's raw pitted botilla olives on a new pizza we released this month, and we've been going through $100 worth of their olives every week. Pizza orders are skyrocketing and we expect to use much more in the near future. However, today with only a little research I found the same raw peruvian pitted dried olives online through another one of our suppliers for $6.25 RETAIL for 8 oz., as opposed to ELF's price of $8.69 WHOLESALE for only 7 oz. We will be saving several hundred dollars a month, thousands a year, by NOT buying through Essential Living Foods. ELF would have made $300-400 a month from us, to start. I hope it was worth it to the ELF customer service lady to treat me as she did, because she lost the company she works for $1000s a year; I just placed an order for three cases of the olives from the alternate supplier I found, in time for next week's orders. At least I have her to thank for inspiring us to look for olives elsewhere. Because of her we will be saving $1000s a year. To me, that's worth the $25 they kept. ...I would also advise against purchasing their GatherGreen coupons. The reason my coupon expired wasn't because I forgot about it. To the contrary I was online several times a week for the duration of the 3-month promotion period, waiting for the items I wanted to come back in stock, and they never did...yet they continued to be in stock at Erewhon and other health food markets (where the coupon wasn't applicable, as it was an "online-only" deal). When I mentioned this to the customer service rep, she informed me that they only do the coupons to advertise their business and to clear their inventory of less popular items. Fair enough. But I won't be buying again.

They sell everything from nuts to cacao powder to very niche raw superfood ingredients like maca and mesquite. Their wholesale prices are comparable to the larger corporate devil UNFI, and their retail prices are fair. I haven't tried any of their snacks, since I generally make my own, but they are made with the same high-quality ingredients and available at every health food store I frequent.

So when there is a truck on that show I want to try, and they don't win, well it's a disappointment. When I came across Slide Show here in LA that made me happy. Yo see they are one of two trucks that despite not winning their truck, still found a way to get their product onto the street. So extra Kudos to them and Bowled and Beautiful for achieving that. But as I often do... I digress. There are definite ups and downs in the food. I got the Chicken Fiesta slider and the Southern Fried one which is a variation on chicken and waffles. These were both ups. The chicken Fiesta was very juicy and not soggy despite my taking it to go all wrapped up. And with a good pico de gallo and a guac to die for this is a strong slider . The southern fried one was equally as good, tender and juicy with a fantastic maple glaze. You get you choice of fries, rings or sweet potato fries. I chose the rings. Definitely the frozen variety from Smart & Final. These should be truck made in my opinion. These frozen ones are not helping them I'll try them again at some point and if they make that change to truck made sides, I'll raise that 3 star rating to four.
