What a fantastic power couple living their dream together by combining their cultures to offer a variety of different fish specialties. I am a fan of their PoBoys and garlic lemon fries. Desserts are always a treat as they are ever changing but this weekend we tried a mint brownie and a lemon based cupcake that was seriously heaven! Their version of a Reuben to celebrate St Patrick's Day weekend celebrations was spot on! Libby area honors their New Orleans roots and how they became the success they are today. Service is fast for a made to order type of serving. Staff are very knowledgeable about menu items and will help you choose something if you struggle with trying to narrow it down. Very clean and plenty of seating if you want to dine in.

For Christmas this year I wanted to ensure that i was supporting local with gifts of art, crafts and food, so my niece and my nephew and their spouses received gift cards from Mud Bugs. Lo and behold on Christmas Eve I opened a gift from my niece and received a gift card from Mud Bugs myself! Mud Bugs is the type of business that is easy to support - an innovative and unique menu that has daily specials with Cajun and Creole masterpieces and owners that are hardworking and kind. They put their struggles and triumphs on social media for the world to see and it's a pleasure to root for and support them. Today I used my gift card and went with the special -Cajun dusted Rockfish served over Lemon Pepper Slaw, tomatoes and sliced cheese and topped with shrimp and Prickly Pear Relish in a soft baguette. I also added a side bowl of Sweet Potato Chowder. I double dare you to find those ingredients on any menu in this city. It was as delicious as it sounded and I would eat this everyday if I could.

We have been here numerous times. Food is always great. Today we had the shrimp poboy and a side of jambalaya and side of gumbo. Service is always fabulous and it is always neat and clean. We love Chef Chris and Heather and their staff.

If you have not eaten a sandwich here, you're missing out on a Top 10 sandwich in KC metro. It's all good, just pick one.

Finally tried Mudbugs after my sister's been hyping it up for months and omg, it did not disappoint. The whole place gives total Louisiana vibes and everyone was super welcoming the second I walked in. I got the catfish po'boy with lemon garlic fries and fried okra, and I swear I'm ruined for po'boys anywhere else. The fish was so tender it literally fell apart, and the seasoning was next level - crispy, flavorful, and fresh. Safe to say they've got a loyal customer now. This spot is it for Cajun food in KC.

Bring that Cajun flavors to north Kansas City. It was my first time visiting this establishment and it was so good. I was confused on what I wanted to eat the day I came. But they have a helpful staff that walked me through the menu. I ended up choosing the Chef's special that day. When my food came to my table it was delicious. It was a big fired fished on soft hoagie bread. I will the fries were not that special just regular basic fries. This place is great to visit for the Cajun flavors. I will say they close early around 3 so you will have to get there for lunch. But other than that great space and place to meet up for a good lunch that will be filling

Came in on New Year's Day and had an awesome lunch!! Crawfish Po Boy with a cup of Truffled Crawfish Bisque, and a side of gumbo. Everything was incredible! I will be back.

Just so happen while driving I come across this place while being hungry lol. I decided to give it a shot and man was I not disappointed. I tried the red bean and rice, gumbo, jambalaya, the shrimp po boy, and the daily special grouper po boy. Every thing was cooked for perfection 10/10. Both owners were there and were super nice. The food was definitely made with love and you can definitely taste the Louisiana roots in the cooking. Highly recommended coming here, you will not be disappointed.

Last night I had the good luck of being able to attend Mudbugs Masquerade Party! And what an enjoyable experience it was. When you walk through their doors, they had changed all the tables around, covered them with white cloths, placed vases on the tables, placed covers over the chairs and there were people walking around with masquerade masks on. As it got closer to the time they were serving, Heather would come out and talk to you about the first or the next dish that was about to be served. And on each dish, she would give the historical background and then the twist that Chef Chris puts on it. So, if you look at their menu for this evening, it starts with an appetizer that they call Crab Louie Iana. They take some Golf Coast lump crab and place it on a bed of lettuce, they top that with a spicy Choron sauce and some scallops. The sauce and the scallops added a little bit of depth and interest to that deliciously delicate crab meat. The salad was a hit! Next up came there scrapple or as Heather described it the Chefs Twist on shrimp and grits. They start off by taking some grits, I believe she said they put in some bacon grease and cook it all up nice and delicious. They form it into that triangle that you see on the plate. Then they take some shrimp, big plump juicy shrimp prepared perfectly tender. And do you see that red sauce on that blue plate? That is referred to as" a southern broth reduction of tomati." That sauced contained all kinds of good yum-yums mostly in the form of andouille sausage. And I just love andouille! That red sauce had some heat in it, and it complimented greatly the grits and the shrimp. After Scrabble they brought on the soup. It was a lobster bisque topped with a bit of Brie and some sun-dried tomato Mornay sauce. Hot, delicious, savory, and creamy smooth on the pallet! Completely delicious! And then came their two entries. The first entry was a Surf Turf Scallopini. They took some roast beef and some Wester Ross Salmon and smothered it with a schiacciare and served Aragoste Thermidor Style. That sauce, and its crawfish, was incredibly delicious! The Salmon was delicious and so was the beef, tender and delicious. The next entrée was Roulade de Poulet chicken stuffed with Portobello duxelles. It was served over vanilla bean truffle mashed potatoes. There was a good deal of spice in those Portobellos, and it really enhance the taste of that chicken. The mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy! And then came dessert! It was King Cake "The taste of the New Orleans Tradition that's over 150 years old". It was my first experience with king cake and the first thing that came to my mind is what came first, king cake or cinnamon rolls! And at the end of this dinner, they had taken our names, put them in a jar and one lucky gentleman went home with a full size king cake! Well done, Chris, Heather, and the whole Mud Bug crew! Well done indeed! On a Saturday evening I'm enjoying a four-course meal the likes of which I've never had. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

I have been wanting to try this place for AGES, so when my friends suggested a lunch date there, it was the perfect opportunity. I got a classic shrimp po'boy and a chicken gumbo. The flavors were great and the people weren't lying when they said the portions were huge! This sandwich could easily be 2 meals. Food comes out quickly, so it's also great for a nice meal during your work day lunch break. Places like this rely on our support as a community to survive. If you think their food might be something you'd enjoy - give it a try! It's the perfect casual atmosphere to discover a new food or find your next favorite meal.

I've got a new nominee for best sandwich in KC! If you love locally owned, AUTHENTIC preparation and generous portions, this is the place for you. If you've ever been to Louisiana and sampled a real po' boy and wished we had that back home, well wish no more. This couple is serving up Cajun specialties in a cool environment right here in KC's northland. I was blown away by my traditional shrimp po' boy that was served on a large perfectly soft bun and included sautéed craw fish and POLENTA in addition to the usual fixins. And their slaw was as good or better than any I've ever had anywhere. They have lots of other Cajun delights as well as daily Chef imagined specials. Give them a try.

The jambalaya was excellent, as was the okra. Service was prompt and friendly. It is a counter-service restaurant but a really good one.

Half a minute later Amanda returned with my drink (perfect Arnold Palmer) and a menu. She then gave me a few minutes to review the menu. Upon returning she asked if I had any question and inquired if I was ready to choose. Amanda was very knowledgeable polite and made thoughtful recommendations. Because this was my first visit I tried several different items to get the full experience. I started with a half pound Boudin Link, it was sensational. I was incredibly impressed that the Boudin was so delicious being so far away from Louisiana or Texas. I also ordered a half serving of red beans and rice with sausage, a half serving of jambalaya and a half shrimp Po boy. The Boudin came out first it was Cooked to perfection, exceptionally well flavored and served with a wonderful spicy remoulade. All of the dishes were very thoughtfully prepared, wonderful flavored, just the right amount of cajun flavors. The portions were huge even as half servings it was much more than I could eat. The cost was very reasonable and well worth it. While the meal was excellent, Amanda's attentiveness and genuine concern for customer satisfaction made it a perfect dining experience. I look forward to going there again and again.

See the crumbs in my basket they are not crumbs they taste like boiled canned oysters that at been breaded. They were tasteless and I keep eating one after the other hoping to get an oyster taste. All I could get was a greasy breading taste. You can also see the excessive grease in the basket too. Worst meal I've ever eaten. Plus it was expensive and this was the appetizer. The ambience was nice very festive and the waitress was kind. But the food was terrible I'm surprised they would even charge people for this. Left there sick from grease and I mean really sick and I kept belching oysters it was horrible.
