Delicious Seafood, Attentive Service, Festive Atmosphere/ Decor. If it's hot outside and the front parking is full, there will be a wait. There is a back patio, front patio, and two dining rooms inside. If you like Cold Beer, a draft in a Schooner is definitely the way to go! We started with Spicy Gizzards ( Regular size was plenty for two, BTW not spicy ) and the 3 piece crawfish meat pie. Both were awesome. The meat pies take awhile, and they arrive Super Hot ( temperature ). When they arrive, break them open and let them cool!!! We both got baskets. The Fries and hush puppies are hot and delicious. My alligator was fire and my friend's catfish was light and fresh. For dessert we shared the Carrot Cake. It's made by Golden Boy ( local bakery ). It was one of best I've had. When we arrived on a Thursday evening, the parking lot was packed and the inside seating quite crowded. The patio was nearly full but we found a good spot outside. We started with Firecracker Shrimp (not pictured) which was excellent and devoured quickly. We followed the appetizer with Crab Cakes and Spicy Gizzards. As a gizzard aficionado, I had high expectations and they were exceeded! The Crab Cakes were also delicious. Portions were generous and the value was high. We spoke to some other patrons who were enjoying the Flounder and Catfish. I look forward to returning to try both of those options. Little gem off the beaten path. Tonight we tried the fried catfish and the fried flounder baskets. It came with fries and hushpuppies. We added fried okra and coleslaw. All of the food was really good, but we loved the atmosphere just as much. The waitstaff is excellent. Cant wait to come back and try the jambalaya and gumbo. Imagine stepping back in time to when things were simpler, and you'll find yourself at The Fish Market. Just a good old place for all things fried fish, and one of their specialties fried gizzards. There are so many good things to try, and really can't go wrong, but we had the fried shrimp and catfish combo as well as the blackened catfish. We had a jumbo order of fried gizzards, and they were very tender and juicy! Other items we had were the coconut rice (wow this is good), hush puppies, cornbread..all the good fixings you can think of. Back home in SoCal over 40 years ago the Del Fried Chicken made gizzards to die for!!! Well, I've been looking for chicken gizzards that good for over 40 years and I've finally found them. Tonight as we sat at the ball field we decided to have The Fish Market. Ordering takeout on the app is so easy which is great for us. We decided on the Horn High Hugo as it would feed 2 adults and possibly a small kiddo. Our meal consisted of alligator, chicken strips, shrimp, and a crab cake: sides potato salad and hush puppies. Everything was very well done my husbands fav was the potato salad and hush puppies. I liked the alligator and shrimp. However I felt like the hush puppies could use a little more pizazz. Everything that's fried is in a corn meal breading just in case you not a fan. First time eating here. I was actually quite impressed. Arrived around 5:30, so it was already getting dark. The place literally looked like a hole in the wall from the outside. We were immediately greeted upon entering and seated. Server came right away and took our drink orders. Ordered some hush puppies for an appetizer, which I didn't realize came with a meal when you ordered it. My mom and I ordered the large shrimp platter, which was 1# of shrimp. It was DELICIOUS and tasty with lots of flavor! I would highly recommend it! We also ordered the chocolate chip cookie sundae for dessert. It wasn't exactly what I was expecting. The cookie was rather dry even with the ice cream on top of it. The strawberry cake was just okay, nothing really to brag about. The service was good and she kept our ice tea filled up for the most part. She had a bubbly personality as well. I would recommend this place. Don't always judge a place by the way the outside looks! Disappointing experience tonight at the Fish Market. It took over an hour and a half to get food. Confusion with the waitresses to Im assuming our food order didnt get put in. Food was decent, but extremely frustrating to see tables that arrived an hour after you get good quick service and the place lose track of your table and food. I usually go here for the smoked fish, which is pretty good but it's like 23 bucks and they give you a side of coconut rice which is always burnt in a very small serving and whatever other side you choose but they should stop selling the coconut rice if they are always gonna sell it burnt and that's really the only flavor you get from it and they give you a very small serving like each time I've gone. There appeared to be a lot of repeat customers and new customers - definitely a place where everyone wants to go. We had a shared order of fried okra and I got the fried shrimp tacos. We had one large adult order the "chicken basket" that was on the normal menu for $10.95. When it arrived it had the smallest amount of chicken ever!! When we inquired about it the waitress said all they had was a kids menu version. First - no, its on the main regular sized adult menu. Second, why would you not mention this to an adult male placing the order?? The other let down was the jambalaya. It tasted like spaghetti sauce with rice. Period. Ew. Overall, service is nice. They had an aoli on there that was really tasty. Both of us enjoyed it! I ordered the fried catfish/shrimp basket with extra hushpuppies and onion straws. I'm kind of particular about my fish (love it to be fresh) and this whole dish had a great taste. The hushpuppies really were good, as were the onion straws. Crab cake basket- 2.5/5 There was not a lot of flavor, and the cakes (2) were small (but were filled with meat). They came with coleslaw and coconut rice. The rice was too sweet and the coleslaw was not too heavy on the mayo. This is not your pan fried Maryland type cakes. Instead the meat seemed battered dip and fried. Catfish basket- 4/5 More like catfish nuggets. Husband enjoyed them. The seasoned fries were nicely cooked. The hush puppies had little flavor. Spicy fried gizzard- 2/5. Never had them cooked this was, so that was novel. It's not crispy or very seasoned. They must have tenderized it, bc the meat was sort of soft. My brother-in-law discovered The Fish Market and since his wife doesn't like fish of any kind I decided to treat him to lunch for his birthday. First, it's tough to find without GPS - seriously. They weren't busy so we picked a booth, and took our time with the menus. Alie was friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and not shy about sharing her opinions when asked. I wound up getting the gumbo with hush puppies. Delish! I think my brother-in-law got fried gulf shrimp. To be honest, I'm not sure except that he finished it without complaint. To cap our meal, we ordered three crab cakes. I had two and found them quite good. My brother-in-law thought they were fairly run of the mill. If you have an aversion to fried food or for some reason choke on seafood, The Fish Market isn't for you. As well, don't go if you're looking for an upscale environment.
