We were visiting downtown Mebane and exploring the local shops and were looking for something sweet as we enjoyed the beautiful afternoon. My wife looked to our Yelp bookmarks and found we were very close to Muffins so we decided to stop in. We started to explore the flavor options while the woman behind the counter helped another customer. I didn't want any ice cream but the rest of our party did and they all quickly decided to sample the banana pudding ice cream. They each loved it and all decided to order one scoop each on the freshly made waffle cones that were literally being made as we were there. Muffins features local ice cream by Maple View Farm in Hillsborough and it is delicious. Absolutely worth stopping at if visiting or driving by Mebane. Yum! read more

We found this cute little ice cream shop while searching Yelp while shopping at the outlet. It was our first visit & much needed on this super hot, muggy day. The place was packed & this young lady was doing everything on her own. No matter how busy it got, she had that smile radiating and treated everyone like they were the only customer in the shop. We got a cookie dough 1 scoop sugar cone & a chocolate 1 scoop cake cone. The price was pretty reasonable. The ice cream was yummy. The only issue I had is how I never saw her wash her hands from handling money to going to fix the ice cream. I get that she was alone, but it's still good to wash hands between transactions. My favorite ice cream place in Mebane that has quickly become my go-to spot for a sweet treat! Their ice cream selection is amazing, with unique flavors like Devil's Delight with is a rich chocolatey base with chunks of twix and kit kats mixed in, keep me coming back.The staff are super friendly and always happy to offer samples and recommendations. The prices are very average with other ice cream shops in the triad. The moment you walk in, the cozy, pastel and cow themed decor feels like a warm hug. We love it here. The ambiance is great, both inside and outside. The ice cream is from Maple View Farms and is always delicious. This is my 4 year-old's favorite place. In Mebane this is the best ice cream/ sorbet place in town. We came here a long time ago and have been back handful of times but today, review was warranted. There is parking on the street and aside from events, you'll find a spot. You are greeted upon entering. There are a lot of options! The price is ok but the product is delicious. My daughter likes their cookies and cream flavor in either cone or cup. I had their sorbet because it is their dairy free option. It is really, really flavorful. Pomegranate Raspberry, try it! She even ordered that one today because she tried mine last time we were there. I get the cup/ 1 scoop for about $3.25. Toppings are also available. You can sit inside or outside. I'm happy that we chose to support a local ice cream shop vs driving to a large chain location in a nearby city. The ice cream was good. We had a banana split sundae. It was warm inside the shop and the staff weren't wearing plastic gloves while scooping ice cream. I want to continue to support a local business, but also other places like Coldstone and Baskin Robbins have their staff wear gloves while scooping/preparing the ice cream. read more

Was looking for an ice cream shop to take my daughter. She loves ice cream just like her mama lol. We stumbled upon muffins and had some really delicious ice cream! They offer a variety of flavors...banana pudding, strawberry cheesecake, birthday cake and many more! I had the banana pudding and it was so tasty! The shop is small inside, but they do have outside seating. Prices are affordable and you are allowed to try samples. Its located downtown so parking can be a little tricky. You can park on the street there isn't a parking lot. read more

Cute little ice cream shop...the service was great, I went on Memorial Day and they were open! That was nice. I got the cheer wine float and it was so so so good! A little overpriced though as I can probably just make it at home, but great service, great drink. Very historical area for sure. probably one of the only shops in town worth going to other than reeds coffee. Mebane downtown is soooo tiny....it's not very lively.... (I am used to a more populated downtown like Denver) it seems like a ghost town lol. But hopefully it will get more populated or renovated in the next few years. read more

The Muffins Ice Cream Shoppe is wonderful. If you are every near Mebane stop by and get the Cheerwine float. They have Maple View Ice Cream so you know it is good. I made the trip to Mebane just to check out the downtown scene and get some content ideas for Wojdylo Social Media. I can honestly say both Muffins Ice Cream Shop and the Mebane downtown area will get your creative juices flowing as there are some awesome places in a few "city" blocks. It is a wonderful place to grab some quick ice cream during those warm summer days. Also, check out some of the other shops and businesses in downtown Mebane. read more

We had no clue that this little ice cream shop was here! What a hidden treasure to find on an afternoon walk. The shop is small and charming and the young lady behind the counter was very nice. Now to the ice cream. It was ok. Some of the ice cream had ice crystals so I stayed away from those (my husband didn't but we'll get to that in a minute). The flavors that I had were pretty good as was the sorbet. My husband went for classic strawberry and vanilla and he didn't have such a good experience. Muffins, I think you are the dearest. Your cheerwine float stole my heart. If I ever knew I could love anything was when I tried that float, boy was it good. The owner who checked us out was very cheerful and kind to talk with. She was open about she where was from and what her hopes were for the place. She talked about past experiences and present times. They have a freezer selection that is stocked with flavors of the day or different types of custards depending on availability. I like Whit's because they do a rotating flavor of the day, a flavor of the week, and flavor of the month. They have a calendar of flavors on their website and socials. (i.e. Facebook or Insta) The menu is pretty expansive offering sundaes, to whitsers, and other such creations. The real star of the show is the custard. It is very creamy and pretty sweet. It is definitely one of my favorite ice cream shops in the Triangle. I haven't had any bad experiences coming here per say but sometimes the young cashiers at the front can seem a bit ignorant and stare you down when it comes to tipping. My girl & I went here…read moreafter ordering Filipino food from the Pork & Spoon restaurant located in the same food hall to order Halo Halo (Literally "Mix, Mix"), the signature Filipino dessert beverage with flan, ube ice cream, milk & other ingredients. The Halo Halo here cost $10+, the most expensive Halo Halo we ever purchased. For a mediocre blend, it's quite a joke to set this kind of dessert at that price. We would happily pay $10+ more if this Halo Halo was made extra special with more loaded ingredients or a taller serving, but there's nothing special in Tea-Rex's version. The Halo Halo was served to our table in front of the Pork & Spoon concession instead of us having to pick it up from the concession, so we appreciate Tea-Rex's customer service. Burlington Food Hall seemed to have a nice casual dining space to enjoy food but its layout of the shops is questionable. We had to go to the back area of the building to find Tea-Rex and the few other spots while Pork & Spoon is very visible in the front area of the hall. We haven't tried any of Tea-Rex's milk teas & other desserts but from what we've seen in its concession, the milk teas look quite generic. Pork & Spoon referred us to them when we asked if they offered Halo Halo, which I thought was a good teamwork between the two shops in Burlington Food Hall. Sadly, neither shops gave us a good reason to revisit this new food hall. I will publish my review of Pork & Spoon soon. As for Tea-Rex NC, their Halo Halo was just disappointing. We rather get the $8+ Halo Halo in the Oriental Store in Raleigh, but that's another story. | Overall Score: 2.0/5

I will always choose a local/small business over a large chain. It has plenty of room and assorted types of seating to meet needs of anyone coming in. The baristas were also super nice and patient as I read over the menu as a first time customer. I tried the Romeo & Juliet and it was delicious! I enjoyed every sip.
