I have dropped off a car three times so far. The first two times we got a fairly prompt call back indicating the 'problem" was minor and could be fixed for under $10 - seriously??? I have always been aware that muffler shops are the thieves among thieves in the service industry and was very pleased with their service, honesty and professionalism offered at Muffler Man. They always seem to be doing a steady flow of business which is a good sign. The latest visit cost me $175, but it was to replace a big section of pipe. Have had a slew of car problems over the past 4 months, Tim and his crew here have treated me right with each repair and always had a quick turn-around. This is surprising given the amount of business they constantly have. They are great at letting you know and making sure you understand what is going on with your car, are quite flexible if you have concerns on the necessity of a repair (read: a/c's), and are competitive with their pricing. Terrible terrible place to take your car. Brought my car in on Tuesday working and sound for some suspension work. $627 later on Friday picked up my car. Apparently it took 3 days to ship the parts from Toyota dealership. Drove it home 3 miles, did not have to go anywhere on Saturday. On Sunday took the car to Brighton for a date with this beautiful girl, noticed the car was running kind of rough, poor acceleration. On my way home the car lost all power, and stalled out in West Bloomfield about 20 miles from my house. After towing the car home for $130, I had to take Monday off work to figure this issue. Opened the hood and found that alternator cable was loose which explains why the car stalled out and died after all power from the battery was depleted. Also the car was running rough, found a wire that was unplugged coming from the throttle body. Not sure what it was responsible for but I plugged it back in. Car started and seemed to be running ok, check engine light came on after about 5 minutes. Never had a check engine light on this car. Went to Auto-zone to pull the codes. P0171 P0125 P0300 in the 6 months that I owned this car, I've never experienced such a storm of issues. For the amount of money I paid for the suspension service I though I would be treated fairly. Not the case at this business. I suspect that this was a cheap trick to get me to come back for more services on the car. It makes sense if you mess with the alternator it will take sometime before your battery is completely drained. I will never come to this place again and urge you to stay away as well. read more

Some places give you these estimates and you wonder how you will ever get your car fixed. But this Muffler Man's prices were better than any quote I had received so far. I had just the opposite experience that the one guy mentioned the Manager Jeff was so nice. He explained everything to me and got back to me right away. I even got a call back from Tim to explain that the parts store was running a little late with some parts I needed. The communication and care was excellent. They fixed my car for HALF of what the big chain shops wanted. Some of these reviews I question because even though I have only been here 2 times now...they seem to be describing another Muffler Man and not this one? Maybe? Anyway they have a new customer who is very happy any way...and the best part. They had popcorn and beverages for the waiting room. That's a bonus to me. I would recommend for sure! read more

Waste of a Saturday. Waste of several weeks. Made an appointment 1 week in advance. On the day of my appointment I went out of my way to get up early and drop the car off because Jeff the manager had said I had to get it there by 8am. My car was there all day on a Saturday, they never looked at it and had no diagnosis, even though I had an appointment. It was in for a simple exhaust leak. I thought muffler man would be the place to go for an exhaust issue. Apparently not. After 8 hours of waiting and no phone calls from Jeff, even after I had called him several times and he promised he would diagnose and call me. (he never did) I went to pick up my car and noticed they had their personal hot rod on the hoist working on that. I guess that takes priority over their customers. When I arrived Jeff acted as if he could care less and wasn't even apologetic. Very Poor service at this location. read more

At best all I can say is very disappointed. I called as soon as they opened to see if I could get and oil change, check the front end and brakes on my car. I was told sure thing bring it in. I had then car in the parking lot by 8:30am. At 2:30pm I called to see what the status was and when I could pick it up, I was told that they were just doing the oil change, yes I needed brakes but they would have to order parts. They would not be able to get the brakes done until Monday. When I asked why they had not called me earlier, I was told they were busy all day. I told them finish the oil change I was coming to get the car. When I got home, it was noticed that 2 of the lug nuts were missing. I took the car back and was told " the lugs were stripped and I would have never gotten them off if I had a flat on the side of the road." Are you kidding me? I am old and fat, do you really think, I am going to change the tire on the side of the road? After several calls to local parts stores they were not able to get new lugs and were not able to find the ones that come off the car. All the manager could say was I will order them come back on Monday. Sorry no, I will not be back on Monday nor any other day, read more

A word of warning; I would not let these guys work on my dog house! I left my car with them to install a set of headers and complete exhaust system; three weeks later they called that the job was done! Before I left with my car I looked under the hood to check the job. I had to go back inside & get the owner & showed him the welding job, you could hear all the exhaust leaks along with the starter being wired wrong. After waiting another couple hours while they fixed the leaks(the welding looked like a five year old had done it), I told them to forget it I'd fix the starter myself when I got home. Buyer beware, they talk a lot of crap but that's all their work is. read more

I've heard that this was a good muffler man to go to because they are trustworthy and do good work. I was not impressed. I brought my car in to get the muffler fixed on a Tuesday. They said it would be done Wednesday so I waited around all day on Wednesday for a phone call. I had to take my fiancé to work in the morning so I could have his car for the day and I would pick him up on the way when my car was done. Finally at 3:30 on Wednesday afternoon I give them a call because it should not have taken that long. I ask the guy about my car and he says "oh you know it was done early this morning and I couldn't remember if I had called you or not sooo.." Seriously?!? So of course the next day I notice that the muffler was shaking around when I drove my car because it wasn't secured properly. Yes as odd as it sounds a Muffler Man doesn't know how to put on a MUFFLER properly. Had to waste the next day going back up there to have them fix it. I ask the man at the front desk how long it was going to be because I would have someone pick me up. He responds by telling me it won't be that long. So I asked him again if he could give me a time frame like 20 min, a half hour? "yeah it shouldn't be that long". Once again that was not helpful! I ended up sitting there for an hour.
