Then today on 7-24-2021 the gentleman asked me how to open it I simple stated no one has ever asked that he gave me the keys and said have a good day. My husband has service done here a couple of times without issue. I went in to ask about their 'free engine light check'. I thought it a simple question. You would have thought I asked for the man's first born or made derogatory comments on his parentage. He was rude and extremely condescending. He pointed at the hand written prices for diagnostics on the counter and said it would be $90. I said that's not how the it reads. He responded quite rudely and nearly violently in tone, 'it says check; how can you not read it that way?'. I just looked at him stunned by his manner. It's definitely no way to run a business, especially when I asked a simple question and made a simple statement. Needless to say, we will not go to them in the future. I sincerely he has the day he deserves. Everyday. The lady at the counter was very nice with a sympathetic smile at his abrupt rudeness. I hope she has a wonderful day. read more

Terrible customer service, I went there just today. My front bumper has issue and comes off, It came off in the drive way and I slapped it back on. I came in and got met at desk by a gentleman in the back and I go "you got a wait on oil changes?" and he goes "no" and I go "so no wait?" and he goes "no i'm not gonna give you one" and I responded "why's that" and he goes "you're front bumper hanging like that no one will give you an oil change and points at a sign" and I go "not even an oil change" and just in a rude manor he goes "no one will give you an oil change with that". Okay I get it if it's policy, but you can not treat anyone that like, you could've said "sorry man we can't do damage with damage like that". Screw this place. read more

If I could do zero stars i would... so we showed up there to have a muffler looked at.. they guy called hubby in to show him what it was that needed to be done.. some kind of welding of the flex pipe.. which was pretty expensive and we wasnt going to be able to do it.. hubby was asking why (just out of curiosity.. not trying to challenge the poor mechanic intelligence.. or lack of) it was so much.. and that we couldnt do that today... the guy tells hubby he has a BAD attitude.. tells him to take the car and never come back.. RIDICULOUS... Im not sure what the guys name was... a little tiny skinny guy.. with lots of grey hair (probably from being so nasty to customers)... long story short.. I went in because my truck hangers were breaking. they wanted to charge 200!! for 30 in parts! second they then told me my manifold bolts were busted Wanted to charge me 1,8000! wtf!? seriously??? After seeing the $49.99 brake replacement sign, I called Muffler Man to get a price on replacing rear brakes on my vehicle. He told me because the rotors would come off hard and he was sure the calipers were bad (without seeing the car), so I would be looking at a little over $600.00. I have always done my own auto repairs but just did not want to do it right now. I purchased all the parts (total cost under $120.00) and changed the brakes in less than an hour. Calipers were not bad. The rotors came off easy with 4 hits with a hammer (guess that's considered hard $150.00 extra). I don't understand their business ethics, but I don't think I will ever do business with them. read more

Very impressed! Spoke to Kayla on the phone about my exhaust on the car. Drove there where I was met with courteousness, and professionalism. My car was promptly brought into the shop where Jason, brought me into the shop and showed me what was needed, and parts availability. Explained that the parts would be in the next day around 10:30 or 11:00. After leaving and calling the next day around 11:00, I was told the parts were in, and to come right up. I drove there and left the car and shopped around the area with my wife as we had a few things to get from stores in the area. About 1 1/2 hour later, Kayla called me to tell me the car was finished. We drove back there to get the car, and I was very pleased with the work that was done, and the quality of the parts installed. This is definitely an establishment that that I will use for my cars in the future. read more

Lost my muffler on a junker car, and paid $250 for a new one, they did a great job. While I was there, asked if they could replace a crank sensor on the car - Jerry told me he could do it, but it was 5:30pm and I should bring it back when I could leave it for a bit. He told me $40 if it comes out easy, $150 if it's stuck. I was good either way. Showed up five minutes after they opened on a Saturday, Jerry went off, telling me "no way I can do this on a Saturday" (there were four mechanics standing around and one car in all of their bays. Said I'd have to leave it and it might be done on Tuesday. Told him, thanks, but no thanks. This past Saturday, I stopped in, thinking I'd get a quick oil change and I also wanted to have my serpentine belt replaced (I had already bought the belt). When I asked the lady at the counter if they were busy, she said it's been slow all month. I was then told it would be $90 to replace the belt. I politely said, "Never mind, I'll do it myself". Jerry came into the waiting area in a rage, asking me how much money I made and getting all loud. I told him what I made was none of his business, and all I wanted was the oil change. I asked him what his shop rate was, and he said $90 per hour. I told him that replacing the belt is not an hour long task, and he barked at me and told me to take my business elsewhere. At that point I was happy to oblige. Keep in mind they had ONE car in their bays at the time (I think there are six or seven bays), and four guys standing around - no cars in the lot waiting. I did some checking, and in the car repair standards for shops, the amount of time allotted for changing a serpentine belt on this engine/vehicle is half an hour. There may be a good reason that business has been slow, and his name is Jerry. If Muffler Man corporate reads these, the one common denominator in the bad reviews since Deb and Mike left is Jerry. He is costing them business. He has soured me, and I will make sure none of my friends or family will ever set foot in there again as long as he's around. He's the problem. read more

I used to have good service here for many years. However, when I took my truck in for a basic oil change, I received it back with a serious issue. I didnt have an oil leak before I went in, and I now have big pools under the truck. The oil pan was tampered with, and I will not be going back. Also, I will be spreading word to the many Lapeer county residents I know because Im hearing several bad stories coming out of that shop. read more

I had fantastic service there just last week. They fixed my muffler issue and found the rattle that has been driving me nuts. I could have sworn that the noise was in the rear, but it turned out to be in the front. A piece of my strut broke off and was causing all the ruckus. The great about it and spent an hour and a half looking for that rattle and 2 min to fix it. I was only charged what I was quoted to fix the muffler. read more

Well these ppl switched owners a couple years ago. Use to go there all the time for my maintenance. New owners tho I am not impressed. The first time I went I told them to give me an oil change and to check out the wobbling in front of my car. Told me it was the arm on my passenger side. Told them to change it. $200 out the door. Still wobbles. Came back told me it needed rogers, calipers, brakes in the rear of my car for $500. Told them I didnt have it and left. Had someone else look at it. Told me nothing was wrong but changed my brake pads in the back and told me I needed a wheel bearimg in the front. Really cost me time I dont have and a headache. DO NOT GO HERE!! read more

If your looking for a new muffler/exhaust system, i suggest you steer clear of this place, bought a new exhaust system for my vehicle a few years back with a lifetime warranty on the exhaust system/labor, or so i was told at the time. My muffler just came loose from cat. Converter back so i returned to have repairs made. My lifetime warranty turned into a $130.00 repair. After explaining to Jerry(the manager) that i have a lifetime warranty, he went on a rant that I accused him of being dishonest and threatened to throw a new muffler in the back seat and go somewhere else! Not very professional in my opinion! I told him to make repairs and ill pay for it again(more than the original muffler) and pick it up later. Upon looking at other reviews on yelp and other web sites, i see why this location has such poor ratings. Lapeer is a small town and word of mouth will go a long way in keeping and growing your customer base, i recommend going elsewhere! read more

Dealt with this location over 20 years for minor things..brakes , oil change..etc stopped in 4/23..talked to Jerry , " manager " told him I had older Jeep with 5" lift..bought shocks , steering stabalizer , sway bar..bolt on parts. Told him I purchased parts on line because were not available locally. He said " bring it in tomorrow..I'll do it for $200. I returned next morn. 8:15 AM. Explained to tech..front shocks...etc. Jerry called me into the shop.." do you think I'm crazy ? How do expect me to get to this..you Jeep guys think you are clever..Buy all this on line junk and expect me to install it. No one will do this job. Take your junk and get out of here...and don't come back! " I went down the street and had a professional job done. $338. which included alignment and air cleaner filter. Tried to locate Muffler Man Corporate. ...does not exist. Made two calls to talk to " Regional Supervisor...Steve " no call back. This is a shady operation and the " Manager is a lose cannon ". As soon as I pulled out of Walmart after getting new tires put on, my car started veering to the left. Of course, Walmart doesn't do alignments-they actually recommended this place to me. The staff was fantastic. The gal at the front desk was super nice and she seemed pretty knowledgeable around cars, love it! (I was eavesdropping on her conversations with other customers). The fella that got stuck with my car was trying his darndest to figure out why my tires weren't aligning after numerous attempts by him. Finally, after changing the tires around and taking it for another test drive we had a winner! He came out and explained every detail to me, exactly what he did, and why he did it. I have always taken my car here, and had amazing service. But today, service was awful! I had asked for an oil changed, and for an inspection of my brakes. No issues occurred until the mechanic called me, and told me the issue with my brakes. I politely asked him to write down what the problems were because I didn't have time, and was leaving town (I live down river). I went to pick up my car, and he was completely rude. He refused to write anything down since he had told me over the phone. I have never been spoken to with such disrespect and am very disappointed. read more

My daughter gets her oil changed here, she like it. I had my vehicle oil changed once, but generally I change my own. One big reason I'm a fan is the time I changed the antifreeze in my tractor and could not find any place to take the old fluid! Non of the auto parts stores, the oil change places - no one would take it; except the Muffler Man. They were the only place in town good enough to help me when I needed it. Went in when my brakes felt like they were pulsating - had new brakes put on $450. Car still doing the same thing it was before "new brakes" plus now had a drag noise when turning right. Went back, told me I needed new tie rod ends. Spend another $500 for that. PROBLEM STILL EXSISTS after almost $1000 in a two month period!!!! Taking my car some place else to make sure they did what they claimed they did and find out what the real problem is! Broken wire in ABS sensor!!!! My daughter took her car here for an oil change. She waited for 3 hours. She was charged for an oil change and told that they did the oil change. She was also told that there were a lot of repairs needed to her car. The next day my husband looked at her car to see what repairs were needed and noticed that Muffler Man had not changed the oil. The old oil filter was still on. Also, the dipstick tube was broken. If they had changed the oil they would have noticed that ( a broken dipstick tube was not one of the repairs they recommended). There was no way they could have even checked the oil. When my husband went in with the receipt they claimed they did in fact change the oil until he showed them a picture of what he found. As soon as he did that they gave him a refund. Do not trust muffler man with your car! Its hard to believe this would be the first time they've done this scam. There is a reason they are so cheap - they aren't doing the work! read more
