I really prefer to give good reviews and I hope I can give this place another try but there was definitely a few issues. We went during a busy breakfast time so I expected a line but it was crazy busy and there was only one person taking orders and he was not friendly at all. There was 4 of us, 2 adults and 2 kids. They don't have a kids menu which is fine, they said they could do a scrambled egg for our littlest one. It took a really long time to get 3 omelets and a scrambled egg to our table. The entrees came with a crazy amount of green apple slices. Like 15 thick slices on my plate and that's the side. Our total for 2 adults and 2 kids was almost $70. I don't mind that if it's a good experience. For what you get that's a bit much. There's no servers either so it's not like that included tip. The food was okay but the omelet was really thin egg not fluffy. The chorizo was good and the cappuccino was delicious. I just feel like for a $70 breakfast the food should be excellent and it was just okay. I feel like the omelets should come with a real side instead of a pile of apple slices and if it's breakfast time on the weekend be better prepared for a crowd. We heard a lot about Mugs Cafe but had never visited before a recent Saturday morning for a sit-down breakfast. The dining area was full and I grabbed the last table. I don't eat eggs and approximately 90% of the breakfast menu is something with eggs on it. I settled for the $6 biscuit and scraped the egg off. My wife got the 'all-you-can-eat' pancakes served 2 at a time, but the expectation to line up and order at the counter is obstructive and time-consuming. After the biscuit fiasco, I wanted a few of her pancakes, but the line was 10 people long. So it wasn't really 'all-you-can-eat.' I was most surprised and disappointed that THERE WERE NO UTENSILS. What restaurant doesn't have utensils for their customers? If I want overpriced breakfast with small portions, I'll go to Boulevard. At least they have utensils and free coffee refills. Follow up to my horrible experience at Mugs Cafe. I was so annoyed by what occurred yesterday, I decided to go back to get a refund for the amount they overcharged for my order. There was a different person working the counter today (around 12:30 p.m.), unlike the individual there yesterday, this young lady had a great attitude and she was extremely professional. I explained to her what I discovered on my receipt, she then promptly took care of the issue without incident. I appreciate it when people recognize mistakes made by their companies and handle the situation without offering excuses and bad attitudes. Customer service is terrible here, especially in the morning. We went on a Monday (when school was off) to do some work and the lady cashier was walking and grunting as we were standing there. Didn't even know she was the cashier. Then told my colleague that if he was looking for matcha (which they didn't have) to walk down three blocks to another cafe. I understand that customers can be rude but we were polite. I think she assumed we were some high school kids or something, because we are young presenting but we are teachers. My colleague ordered a chocolate croissant and she gave him a regular croissant. Didn't even bother to tell her because she already seemed bothered by our presence. She does treat older customers much nicer so I think it is due to her perception of who we were as opposed to treating all customers the same. I stopped in this morning for the first time. It was an A-OK experience and will probably get better as time goes on. (I love the Mugs in North Little Rock.) We do need a coffee shop there in the old Starbucks location, and I hope this place makes it. A couple of things need some work, however. The first thing I noticed was the decibel level--It is very loud, so not a very soothing place to chill, especially this time of year when everybody's frantic anyway. Also, the Americano I ordered was extremely weak. I honestly couldn't taste coffee. Hopefully, the owners can improve the coffee and do something about the accoustics. Decided to try out this cafe today and was extremely disappointed. Stopped in for a late lunch with my mom ordered two grilled cheese sandwiches that were never received and two coffees that were pretty good considering we actually received them. We ordered our food at around 3:30 and by 4:10 it still wasn't received so we went to check and we were informed it would only be 5 more minutes. I have visited Mugs regularly for the last 2 years, and the service and consistency have been consistently going down for the last year. A lot of it started with attention to detail--serving food without cutting it, using to-go cups when ordered for-here, etc. But now there are bigger and more prevalent issues. I've waited an hour for my order multiple times when I was the only person inside because the kitchen staff wasn't there, they were out of an ingredient and were waiting for someone to prep and bring it, or they were backed up with to-go orders and forgot about mine. On my most recent visit, my coffee order was not remotely correct and I was the only one in line when it was placed. The behind-the-counter staff are always very inviting and calm, but they are clearly overwhelmed by being baristas, cashiers, and food servers all at the same time. I don't often post reviews but the amount of negative reviews on here made me so sad! I have loved my experience every time I go and even made it a regular study spot. My favorite menu items are the BLT & egg sandwich and the breakfast burrito! I've heard great things about their burger as well. The food quality has always been incredible for me and I've never been to a coffee shop that has had so many options. I have never posted a Yelp review but I desperately want to go back to Mugs so I hope that this maybe helps the issue that is preventing me from doing so. THE MUSIC. It.is.so.loud. I am talking Abercrombie & Fitch loud. MOST people go to a coffee shop to work and it is IMPOSSIBLE because I make calls for a living and I literally cannot hear on the phone and vice versa. Even when I am not making calls, I cannot focus. I tried to play a podcast and had to put it at full volume and could STILL hear the horrible music. I am fine with horrible music at a decent volume, but everyone knows coffee shop music is background level volume and not concert level volume. I LOVE the staff, LOVE the coffee, but cannot go in there to work and that sucks because I was looking forward to doing that for so long. Please just turn it down a lot. Not worth the price for self service. Over easy eggs were hard. Toast cold served with no butter. No tables as one person per table on computers for the whole time. Latte was ok. Staff was friendly but had to ask to clean off bar stool area so we could sit to eat at bar area. We always tip 20% and did but not worth 28$ for eggs,bacon and toast and B&G with one egg.
