It was 07 JUL 2019, and we had just spent our second day in a row helping my in-laws move from New Orleans to Covington, LA. By the time dinner time arrived, we were too hungry to wait until we got back to the South shore to eat dinner; therefore, having tried Mugshots in Mississippi once before, we decided to try their Covington location. We were immediately greeted and seated, and I was pleased with the decor, ambiance and chain restaurant familiarity of the dining room. My son got the kid's pasta with marinara. Although it was served sans meatball, it was still a solid kid's dish. Their marinara a is a little on the sweet side, but definitely good. I ordered a small side salad and was impressed to see that this wasn't simply some lettuce & tomato in a bowl. The tomatoes were chopped uniformly and the salad also had chopped red onion, cheese and croutons. Both my wife and I got the same entree; blackened Mahi Mahi with grilled vegetables. The Mahi was seasoned nicely but I would have liked to have had a slightly larger piece. For most people, the portion would likely be fine, but I have a big appetite. To my pleasant surprise, the grilled veggies were zucchini and yellow squash, with a little bit of sliced red onions throughout; and the portion was large! The food, service and cleanliness of the restaurant were all good. Definitely deserving of an A-OK rating. read more

I was pleasantly surprised at my meal here. The service was great, and we had to wait a while for the meal (due to some kitchen staff not there). The waitress and manager continued to check on us and apologize, and did give us 20% off of the bill. We got an order of fried pickles- they were delicious. Nice and crunchy and briny with a great ranch for dipping. My husband got a patty melt with a side salad and I got a hamburger (bacon and cheese) with a side salad. The patty melt was pretty good, as was the burger. Even though we didn't get to choose the cook on the meat, it was not dry or tough, and was seasoned well. The side salads were big and the ranch wasps good. My only complaints were that the bun got a little mushy (next time I would ask for it to be toasted) and the bacon on the burger was a pretty sad little piece. I came back to give Mugshots another shot, hoping to get a better cooked burger and after finishing my meal, I'm highly disappointed. We got the order to go, so there isn't much to say about the service other than all the staff was very friendly. This review will be based almost entirely off of the food. The burgers were unfortunately yet again, over cooked and noticeably dry. Both burgers were put together into the boxes sloppy and had to be reassembled at home. I got "grilled" veggies to replace the French fries that come with it. They were clearly pan fried, not grilled and had no seasoning to them at all, salt and pepper had to be added. The bacon that came on the burgers were surprisingly crispy and better than expected, I was very pleased with the toppings. We ordered fried pickles to go with our burgers and I honestly can't tell if they were boiled or fried because they were so soggy, it looked like they were soaking in liquid for an hour before plated. Yes, it was to go but, I was told 15-20 minutes, I was there in 14 minutes and it was ready, and I only had a 5 minute drive before I was eating it and there was no steam inside the box which was my first assumption for the soggy pickles. They were also at room temperature so I can only assume they were put in the box and the box was closed immediately. It's unfortunate because I really enjoy giving local businesses several tries but other than the crispy bacon, my meal was less than average. read more

This was our second time to visit Mugshots and they did not disappoint. It had been a while since our last visit and since we were in the area, we decided to stop in to see if they were consistent. I believe that hitting a restaurant around 1:30 pm is always the best time to eat or just before the main rush for lunch or dinner. You always get the best service and the best preparation of your food. Mugshots have the typical bar and grill feel, however, they like you to promote by taking a mugshot with their merchandise at events and places you travel and you get discounts and rewards. We were greeted with a smile and seated immediately and the same went with our server. She greeted us and took our drink and appetizer order. I checked in via YELP and was given a free fried pickles appetizer via the check-in. I told our server and she put that order in for us as well. How cool was that, thanks to Yelp and Mugshots. We ordered the Mambo Combo which gave you three choices of appetizers (we had the southwest egg rolls, chicken tenders and tee's cheese wedges) all was cooked to perfection and loved the flavor of the southwest egg rolls. I can't stand pickles but my wife loved the crowd pickles, especially since they were free. I ordered the cajun chicken pasta and it was great. Plenty of sauce, chicken nice and tender and the texas toast topped it off. I did feel that it could have had a little more cajun spice to set the flavor off more. All in all, it was still good. My wife had the blackened Mahi with grilled veggies, she said it was very good but the fish could have used some more seasoning for more flavor. She felt it was a little bland but, still, she enjoyed it. They do have two outdoor patios to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful days and your meal. A great place to meet friends after work. My experience at Mugshots can be easily summed up. The food was pretty good, but the service was not. Since I would be laughed off of Yelp if that was all I wrote, I will expound on my experience. I visited Mugshots one Saturday with my youngest child. As we walked in we were greeted rather coldly by the hostess. I was so taken aback by her reaction that I wondered if my child's reputation for restaurant behavior had been reported to all of the businesses in the area. It seemed as if my request for a table was so offensive to her that we almost left at that point, but I was determined to try the food. Once at the table our menus were dropped off and we sat. At around the ten minute mark I began to wonder what was going on. Numerous servers had walked past our table averting their eyes from my glance as if to let me know they weren't helping me. At 15 minutes, I was getting up to leave when a rather frazzled looking server walked up and asked if we had been helped. When we responded that we had not, she said that she would be right back. Another several minutes elapsed and she returned to take our order. From the time I walked in, to the time our order was taken, over 20 minutes had elapsed. Had the restaurant been full that would have been unacceptable, but the restaurant was only half full at this point. Considering how long the wait to order was, the fact that our food arrived in five or so minutes was perplexing, but did help our moods. My burger was their signature 1000 Island Burger. Dressed similarly to a Big Mac, I ordered mine cooked to a medium temperature with a side of fried pickles in lieu of fries. The burger was perfectly cooked, juicy and very flavorful. The thousand island dressing blended well with the flavor of the beef and neither overpowered the other. The pickles were good and a welcome change from plain ole fries. The original server was not who brought out the food, and getting the check at the end of the meal was pretty difficult. I got the feeling that the server who waited on us only did so because no one else was willing to help. Better communication between the host stand and servers would have helped I think. While my food was good, the service issues seriously soured my opinion of this restaurant. If the service issues were solved, this could easily be a four star burger joint. read more

They told us to sit in the bar area which was fine. No one gave us menus my wife had to grab them, they didn't bring us any utensils even when they brought our appetizers, I had to go ask for them. I go here more often than I should. The service is always amazing. The one African American waitress that's usually behind the bar thats usually working in the afternoon ....She is always nice and welcoming. She's kind to everyone and goes out of her way to ensure that everything is perfect. She is very pleasant and gives great customer service! Now for the food, the burgers are great. My fave is the Bacon Parmesan burger. The Inferno and Philly wrap is good too. I love their fries. The Bread Pudding Bites are good too. I have yet to dislike something that I've tried. The atmosphere is pretty chill. I've only been during lunch hours. It can get pretty busy, but it's usually a laid back crowd and the workers all seem to be as well. read more

Apparently, the staff at this location don't really worry about customer service. We waited some 5 minutes for anyone to acknowledge our presence at the front check-in. Several servers went through and asked us to move to they could get through, but not ever said " be with you" or "someone will be by shortly". Finally, someone took us to a table, said "whoops it needs to be cleaned" and left. Several minutes later she explained about a wait from the kitchen and reiterated about the dirty table. Both of which made us wary and lowered expectations. Well, they were lowered some more. Our appetizers were actually fine. We were warned about the kitchen delay and put in our order quickly . The table beside us arrived some 20 minutes after us --arrived , not ordered--and yet got their food within minutes of ours. My food was lukewarm at best and didn't have much flavor despite professing itself as blackened. My son was given no silverware for his side, which ended up being cold by the time we could flag our server for some. Cold and bland. We had to ask for drink refills. So, despite the kitchen being backed up, our server still couldn't find the time to keep us watered. All of this in a restaurant that was not even half full. This was my first time here and I will likely not go back. Shame because it's got good seating, great views of tvs for sporting events and it was a nice location. Mgmt really needs to work on customer service and planning staffing better. read more

I thought I'd give this place a try, hadn't been here in quite a while. Although the menu had a good selection and the bar was fully stocked, the service was so bad we couldn't wait any longer. We were there almost exactly an hour an never got our food and couldn't get a refill on my beer. All the employees looked 16 and no management to be found. I wouldn't recommend unless you have lots of time, aren't hungry or thirsty and have something to keep you occupied. Really sad! read more

There were so many delicious looking items on the menu, it took me a while to decide what I wanted. We decided on the Hillbilly Philly sandwich and beer-battered fries. The sandwich was excellent, and the fries are always good here. They give you a generous portion of fries, too. The service is very good. The bathrooms are clean. And they now serve their drinks in nice-sized plastic to-go cups. So you can get yourself a refill and take it out the door with you. We met the owner, Sean, who was a very nice gentleman. We sat at a high table, which wasn't bad. Our server wasn't the greatest. We had a hard time trying to find our waitress for a refill. She suggested a few things and we got an appetizer and also ordered drinks from the bar. The drinks from the bar took a while to get and the appetizer came out with the meal. Which I didn't care too much for. I got the pizza burger. And I'm pretty sure I will never get one again, pizza and burgers should never be mixed. The bread they used made me sick. I'm not sure why. It was sour dough I think. But it didn't go well on the burger. My fiancé got the peanut butter burger and he said it could have had more peanut butter on it. It took about 15 minutes for us to get our check and It honestly didn't even seem that busy. Also, we waited about 20 minutes to get seated because there was a wait. Three stars, just average but your mileage may vary. My first time dining here was excellent. The second occasion was a total bust. Today was a solid three star trip. Skimming the reviews, there is an issue with consistency. The food is usually good. Decent burgers, a mix of appetizers, full bar, all at a $10 price point. The food has always been above average. The menu is similar to Times Grill with several different burgers and a variety of different toppings. They also offer a few pastas, salads, and non-burger entrees. The atmosphere is casual with nice decor.. The service-- flip a coin, roll some dice, play Russian roulette, place your chips on red and spin the wheel. Your wait staff may be perfect, or they may have amnesia and totally forget that you are there. Know the signs, if the host greets you and brings you to a table as you enter the building this should be a good experience. If the host looks at you with a blank stare and seems confused as to why you are standing there, just leave. The confused host will forget to tell the server that she has a table. The rest of the staff will look confused as to why there are people sitting at a table without drinks or dinner. When your server finally arrives at your table, don't expect drink refills. Expect your burgers to sit under a heat lamp before arriving at your table. OR-- you will have a great server who is attentive and brings delicious burgers and keeps your drinks full. Who knows. I love this place so much! I've been going for years now. The atmosphere is nice to go with family or to go with friends to watch a game. The burgers are ALWAYS so good. Go in to pick it up and they had given our wings to the wrong customer. After 10+minutes they THEN say they just cooked 5 to add to an order of 5 that didn't get picked up?!? So we've got 5 fresh wings and 5 definitely older wings. Open the fries in the parking lot and they're soggy and cold. Get home and the wings weren't even the same flavor! They added 5 hot to 5 bbq and 'maybe' poured hot sauce over them all to cover it up. Definitely not good customer service and even worse food. read more

Good place to watch a game and hang out with friends but the food is straight from the freezer to your plate, wings were dry and small, nachos were laughable, with a fake cheese used instead of cheddar. The burger is decent though, but it's pretty hard to mess up a burger. The menu looks good at first but when the food is served you realize it's very cheap Sysco product or something equivalent. I don't think some of the menu items are actually made in house, what a shame. The beer mugs are cold though, I guess there's that. Go for the beer and a game, go somewhere else to eat. read more

The patty of the burger was dry and cool. Not warm and not cold. There was no juice. How is that possible?
