We were visiting family in Jennings and my sister suggested we have our last family meal while in town at Mugsy's Grubhouse. It was wonderful! We lived in Texas for 15 years before we moved to Nashville, TN and both places can brag about some of the best barbeque in the US. Mugsy's is right there with them, which is high praise. Food was marvelous, atmosphere was perfect, and our host was delightful, warm, and welcoming. I can't recommend this place enough, it's a CAN'T MISS if you are within 100 miles. Be sure to have one of their blackberry fried pies for dessert, it will make your eyes roll back in your head it's so good. For $7 they serve you 2-3oz of Stella brand wine calling it a "glass" on the menu was very inaccurate. When brought up to the waitress she explained that is the owners instructions and nothing could be done about it. Portions were good and the turkey leg was good so just don't order their "glass" of wine read more

I took away a rather large carry out order today. The food and sides were all correct (except for one item). Very tasty huge portions. Hopefully, next time I can eat in and sample a beer or two. read more

I ordered 5 pounds of Brisket for my family for Easter, and it was perfectly smoked and very tasty. They even gave me two quarts of BBQ sauce for free. Great Place to order food on the go for big parties or family get-together. read more

Stopped here for a quick lunch during the week. My go-to items are chicken and potatoes and they didn't disappoint. I ordered the beans as another side, but when I lifted my spoon it looked like cheese was pulling from the bowl. I asked if there was cheese in the beans, only because I can't have dairy. I thought it was odd, but who I am to judge culinary genius?! Unfortunately there was no cheese in the beans and we aren't really sure what that was. I didn't eat anymore of them and the staff didn't really seemed too concerned about it. I might go back on one of their famous Sunday buffets, but not anytime soon. I do plan to give them a second chance at some point and I will order the beans again just to see what that was about. Maybe it's the sugar from the barbecue sauce? I don't know. It seems like such a neat place and a small town pull. I'm not ready to count them out just yet. read more

The only reason I'm giving 3 stars is because the food was really good! By far the best food in Yale. The atmosphere is nice except for the volume level of the country radio station. Service was average for Oklahoma - our average being very poor service. No greeting when I walked in- only stares. The young and polite hostess finally asked me if it was "just" me. (Yes, I'm "just" alone and depressed) :( My server was busy, made eye contact a few times but took her time acknowledging me-- she in fact told me she was sorry because she didn't see me. Ha. All the poor service aside. Good place to get large portions of unhealthy grub. Perhaps ordering carry out would be preferable for those of you who don't like country music! read more

It's a little bit of a drive but this little gem is well worth every mile. Good Ole Southern food and the fried pies are a must try.

So I'm at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit. I know there is no good food nearby. So am pleasantly surprised to find Mugsy's. Wasn't in the mood for steak so ordered a Caesar salad with chicken. Was just fine! But the capper is that some kind soul stocker apothic Red wine! It's like finding a little piece of hardcore Goth heaven in Oklahoma! Hmmm I'm afraid to write this post, not because it's a bad place, but because it's really great in every sense and I want to keep it quiet! My filet was melt in your mouth good, perfectly prepared. The mushroom. Appetizers were fantastic too! I hear their ribs can't be beat, I'll be having those next visit. Not that hungry, try one of their sandwiches, I suggest the fried green tomato BLT, wow! Stopped in around 2pm and place was empty. Quick service and great food. Complimentary fresh bread with cinnamon butter. Ordered Brisket and Sausage. Finished meal off with Chocolate cake and Bread Pudding. Both excellent. Sweet tea was fresh brewed and not that instant crap a lot of places push. My wife was looking for a new place for the family to eat, so she chose Mugsy's Grubhouse in Yale. We drove there from Stillwater last Friday evening. Great choice! We ate the BBQ ribs and the Pork brisket and they were fantastic. The rub that was on the ribs was very tasty and the BBQ sauce was spot on. The wait was not that long, about 20 minutes, and while we waited in the comfortable lobby they offered us sweet tea or water. The rolls were hot and soft and they came with cinnamon honey butter. They were delicious. The fries were a little over salted and seasoned. Overall the experience was great. read more

This so not a good steak house. I don't know how anyone would give it more than 1-star. Maybe they need to get out more. Steaks are very thin. Ribeye steak wasn't even a 1" thick. Maybe 1/2". Way over priced for what you get. Atmosphere is terrible. Could you cram anymore people in one room. If they want to be a good steak house then they need some lessons from Clicks Steak house. They need competent personnel working there. If you want to be a restaurant owner then you better know your job. Old man doesn't. read more

This is the second time we've eaten here. First time we had the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy. We weren't impressed. The potatoes and gravy were ok but, the chicken fry had way too much breading on it. The bread they serve is too heavy for bread and not sweet enough for cake, do don't know what it's suppose to be. Since they had a lot of BBQ on the menu I decided to order the pulled pork with baked beans and a house salad. My husband got the fish with baked beans and coleslaw. Our friend got the nights special of steak fingers with French fries and gravy. The BBQ was greasy and had no flavor. The sauce was spicy and they only have one sauce whether you like spicy or not. The baked beans were pork and beans with onions added and heated on the stove. No bread with the BBQ platter, just the "stuff " they bring when you are seated. The fish was greasy also and was fishy tasting. The coleslaw was good. The steak fingers were not handmade they were the frozen kind and not very good. French fries were good. All in all, I probably won't eat here again if I have a choice and I won't recommend it. read more

My first visit hear was very pleasant and the food was excellent. We shared tastes of each other's food in our group and it all was wonderful. I personally had the 16oz bone in double pork chop and it was a dish I would normally look to get at a 4 or 5 star restaurant. Mugsy's is new and word has spread of how good it is so you better get there early or plan on a small wait which is wonderful as they have comfortable waiting areas and lots of rich Yale history to soak in. This place is so good. Definitely worth the drive out to Yale. The barbecue is well smoked and tender (it doesn't need sauce, but the sauce is amazing too). The staff is friendly and the service was quick. Save room for dessert. They have fried pies and bread pudding. read more

We had our first visit tonight. We got there about 6:10 not to busy yet. We both had the Catfish with fries, coleslaw and hush puppies. The fries were really good. I'm not a big coleslaw person but it was really good. The hush puppies were also great. The Catfish to me was not that good. I don't like my Catfish to be fishy tasting and it was. The waitress was polite and very accommodating. The owner is a friendly guy which makes it nice. I will go back but will try something other than Catfish. read more

Best meal I've had in a very long time! We thoroughly enjoyed the bread and cinnamon butter to start, ice tea came in huge mason jars and was very tasty! We shared the BBQ cheese fries, rib platter and fried apple pie. The cheese fries were wonderful! All of the meats were juicy and full of flavor!! The apple pie was amazing, as was the ice cream! What a great addition to our 'neighborhood' restaurants! The food was terrific (we tried ribs, catfish, chicken fried steak, steaks, and meatloaf), the service attentive, and the atmosphere comfortable. Best of all, though, was Darrel, Mugsy's owner, who went way out of his way to make us welcome and introduce his new place to us. Although we live 30 minutes away in Stillwater, Mugsy's is certain to become one of our favorite destinations. Oh, and order the fried pies for dessert. The best! read more

Mercy, my wife and grandson went here on 07/28/20, first time. We had the Sunday buffet. Only 2 salad dressing, thousand island and ranch. For me and my wife ranch is about the worst salad dressing there is. My wife thinks the same way about thousand island. If I wanted thousand island, I would of had a big mac. The coleslaw and the potato salad tasted like they had ranch dressing mix in them, so just one small bite of them. I had the catfish and it was pretty good. My wife and grandson had the chicken. Wife said it was ok, but my grandson (5 years old let me add) said it didn't taste very good. The bread they had was very dry and crumbly. Took a lot of butter to be able to eat it. . But if they don't get a better selection of salad dressing, better bread and a better selection of desserts I probably won't go back. One more thing, the price for a 5 year old is way to much in my opinion. Our server was Brooklyn. She was very polite and attentive. Took really good care of us. read more
