The logos once proudly announced the owner's name and services. Essential then, now ancient. Sad. We imagined what the town was like, when oil was life in Oklahoma. The buildings then housed businesses that employed many, put food on the table and provided opportunities for several generations. Yale, a living ghost town now. The massive building has a Spanish architectural hint and colors that suggests, Mexican food can be found here. It is now Chava's. It covers almost a city block. This place probably rocked in the old days. The parking lot being full of oilfield worker's trucks at noon during the week and family cars on the weekend. Now well worn, the neglected exterior matches the town; weeds, the structures only landscaping. Today, the entire declining population of Yale could probably fit in the building. The parking lot was vacant when we arrived. The restaurant survives, thanks to dedicated locals and with the help of hungry sports fans headed to Stillwater for the Saturday game. Currently its ranking as the "Best Mexican Food in Yale" is unchallenged. The food is served on hot plates, properly prepared and good portions. The service is friendly and the restaurant is relatively clean, but noticeably warn. We ordered one of the combination plates, a relleno and a beef enchilada. On their own both were good; but the red sauce on the meal didn't work. Closer in taste to marinara spaghetti sauce than anything Mexican. The salsa served with the chips was similar in taste. Very mild, oregano flavor prominent. When we ordered, the young man offered three options: white queso, yellow queso or red sauce. We asked about the red sauce. He described it as "like chili. Nope, it is more like spaghetti sauce. The beans and rice were good. Underneath the sauce, was a nice big, fresh poblano, filled with cheese, battered and fried, accompanied with a mildly seasoned, beef filled enchilada. My recommendation, order queso on anything that comes with a sauce. It will be very mild, but better than the spaghetti sauce. If you are a person that finds a Tic Tac to be a little too spicy; you'll love the mild salsa.

It was nice to hear about the history of the steakhouse and the building it sits today. The building was constructed in 1906! Wow! They have done an amazing job in creating a welcoming and charming place to have lunch or dinner. Each person in our group of 4 ordered the filet mignon steak. We each had a different salad and they were amazing. The homemade bread was very good as a warm up for the meal. Garlic mashed potatoes were very tasty and the steaks were great. Also imagine that each one of these servers is on to your alleged theft and deception and they collectively decide they've had enough of you stealing the money THEY earned while you're allegedly putting in a beautiful, brand new pool at your home. Then imagine they allegedly start keeping their own numbers and accounting for their earnings which allegedly do not match up with your VENMO payout each day. Imagine one of them is my 21 year old daughter, who is a college senior and allegedly rallies the entire staff to stand up for themselves and finally question you. Then imagine in the meeting that allegedly every single word was recorded, YOU FIRE HER, after allegedly cussing her out, and refuse to show her, or any of them, your accounting. That's such a wild concept to me! You fired a 21 year old who questioned her earnings because you knew you were caught, Brittany Rupp. As for dining at The Vintage Steakhouse in Morrison, OK, (where the FB reviews are turned off ) I would strongly discourage you from spending your money there.

[Even more confusing, there is a sign on the side of the building that says "Sunnyside Steakhouse"] The two names should give you a clue of cuisines served. Yes, I would say it's a little more expensive than your average kitchen supply store but if you're going to somewhere upscale, I would say the prices are in line with that type of property. Lucky me -I made reservations for lunch for myself (since the boys decided they did not want anything to do with my shopping extravaganza!) I can't get over the quality and the quantity of the food. It's absolutely fabulous. They gave me complementary biscuits and homemade strawberry rhubarb jam. I would rate it five star -the biscuits just which you would like- light and fluffy and the jam freshly made and delicious. I also ordered what was called olive bread just because I love olives so much. I thought it would be a piece or two of bread with olives but instead it's like four or five pieces of bread, so I'll definitely be taking some home and it will become my dinner along with whatever else I have left because their portions are very generous. For my main course, I ordered the cornbread fish over rice and creamed spinach. It's not only beautiful and don't you know we eat with our eyes first!! Well, just take a look for yourself. I took the mini Bundt pan back up, paid for it and then proceeded to take my three XL or maybe even 2XL Mercantile Brown Handled Bags out to my trunk. (I hope that my husband doesn't put me on top of the car for the ride home!!!) ----at the very least, I'm probably going to be squished in the backseat with those bags and my 72# dog; however, this was TOTALLY worth it. I can't stop smiling. I love it here. All that shopping made me hungry and timing was perfect so once my bags were safely in the trunk -I walked right up to the hostess stand -she confirmed my table was ready and I was seated on a very comfy cushioned area that was behind my 2-top but I believe it extended to either side of me where the tables were both 4-tops. Justin was my server and he was fantastic. He took excellent care of me and I observed him giving the same high quality customer service to customers at his other tables. He had that charming OK accent and indeed told me he had lived at the next little town all his life. We had actually passed through Bartlesville on the way to "The Bunkhouse" (our ABNB for the 2-nights which was very near Pawhuska. (I'll be posting other reviews regarding the "Merc" mercantile and general store and the merchandise available and what I purchased.) This is one of my best days ever. The only thing that could've added to my joy was if Ree Drummond herself made an appearance. I was shocked when I went out to leave for home and found the Drummond Ranch truck parked next to my car. I never found out if it was just parked there as an advertisement, (although I don't think they need any advertising), or if there was a Drummond on the premises. I didn't mention I took 2 Turkey Bacon Club Sandwiches along with the home made potato chips (they came with each sandwich) and a side of MacNCheese which is what the boys chose from the menu. Happy to report that everything was made to order as requested and my family enjoyed their meal just as much as I did-however they missed the incredible ambience!!!
