While the place has gone downhill over the last couple of years, my husband and I made it a point to keep coming back every few months to support. However, our visit in January of 2026 was the absolute last straw. I've been completely turned off, will no longer support this location, and don't plan to ever return. When we stopped in, the place was practically empty, yet almost every bar seat was blocked off. Dirty napkins, silverware, and abandoned drinks. I believe purposely left there to keep people from sitting down ( why else wouldn't it be cleaned up?) It was really weird. We managed to find a couple open spots, but the vibe was way off from the start. Beyond the bar top being a disaster, behind the bar was gross. It was a complete mess with dairy products sitting out, jugs of olives and fruit left opened, and dirty glasses and blenders... No wonder there were so many bar flies! As for the bartender, I'm not even sure why he showed up for work. I watched him stand and chat at a high top table with a customer for 10-12 minutes straight while drink tickets were visibly coming out of the machine and completely ignored. Just because I can't give them a zero star. I'm giving them 1 star. This was the first time we've ever been cut off, and it was completely unwarranted. After just one drink, the bartender (Adrian's girlfriend, whose name I didn't catch) claimed we were slurring our words--which was absolutely not true. On top of that, she ignored me multiple times when I tried to get her attention to order another drink for my husband. Instead, she was busy talking with friends and not attending to customers. We usually avoid this place because of past bad service, but decided to give it another chance since we were meeting friends. Unfortunately, this experience confirmed why we don't come here. I would love to say this place is hands downs one of my favorite restaurants and birthday events I host once in a while. We booked in a reservations for 4pm on Sunday @ August 30. I came a little early and decided to check out the bar and had myself an old fashioned drink. I was honestly impressed with the quality of the drink and service that was provided here upon early arrival. Thank goodness for my bartender . ADRIAN you were amazing and marvelous at what you do. Please avoid this restaurant! If I could give zero stars, I would. I ate here last Sunday (06/07/2026), and shortly afterward, I started vomiting and experiencing severe diarrhea. It's been four days, and I'm still sick from food poisoning. I almost had to go to the ER because of how severe my symptoms were. The food is good here. It's probably my favorite bbq spot right now, they got some great pulled pork bbq burgers and a great bbq cheeseburger that taste so well. They offer some complimentary BBQ salsas at each table that complement any of your dishes really well. They got regular BBQ, spicy BBQ, and a hot Memphis option. Put a little bit on any dish, and it makes the dish 25x better. They have a great kids menu as well; they have multiple options from burgers to nuggets to pizza to mac and cheese, plus they can order a sundae for just 2 dollars. They really excel at drinks here; they've got some house-made refreshers that go well with your food, or you can just grab a classic good old draft beer. I got myself the BBQ burger and mixed it with some regular BBQ sauce and spicy sauce, and it was a 10/10 burger; I had to devour it all. You can buy the sauces to go; they are only 5 bucks. So I came to Lucille's today after going to the Apple Store, which is an adventure in itself so I walked over and looked at the menu and saw that they had a two meat deal and you can add an extra meat for $10 but since it was at lunchtime, I guess the server did not understand that that's what I was trying to order so in the confusion I just ordered the 3 meat meal which was $28 I ordered the pork belly burnt ends and the brisket I was gonna order for the $10 more so St. Louis cut ribs, but I didn't get to, but I figured I would be able to taste the pork since I'm getting pork belly it should be close to the same seasoning and sauce. I got also potato salad and I also got the beans. I was thinking about getting the mac & cheese, but I always get disappointed when I eat commercial restaurants mac & cheese so I opted for those two sides. first off they shouldn't stop saying that they smoke their brisket. I know smoked brisket when I taste it and there's not a inch of any kind of smoke on that brisket. It taste just like pot roast. I didn't even finish it. The pork belly on the other hand was very good. I was very happy that I picked up. I wish I would've tasted the ribs, but that's for another day. We used a Christmas gift card (thanks to whoever gave it!) to try Lucille's Smokehouse BBQ, hoping for a solid meal. The restaurant was surprisingly empty when we arrived, which should have been a red flag. We ordered the 2-meat, 2-side combo, brisket (with the $1.50 upcharge) and pulled chicken, plus street corn ($1.99 upcharge) and garlic mashed potatoes. The food arrived looking dismal right away. The brisket came in just three tiny, sad slices overcooked to the texture of tough beef jerky, hard, chewy, stringy, and completely lacking any tenderness or smoke flavor. The pulled chicken was even worse, clearly strips pulled from pre-cooked drumsticks, drowning in an overwhelmingly sweet,sauce that masked any real taste.The sides were a total disappointment too. The street corn had faint grill marks but was rock-hard, dry, flavorless, and completely devoid of butter or seasoning. The mashed potatoes tasted like they came straight from a box bland, powdery, and forgettable. Service was practically nonexistent, slow, inattentive, and zero check-ins. But honestly, even bad service couldn't compete with how terrible the food was.I've had better BBQ from chain fast-food places. This was hands-down the worst meal I've ever paid for! I like this place and frequent it often. However, I had a couple of issues with the food and then the order itself, lately. Nothing major but just really inconvenient when you're hungry. Although, I must say, the customer service was stellar! The manager, Joey, made a few efforts to rectify the problem and show that my complete satisfaction was his priority. Mission accomplished! They got it right and I ended up with very tasty and tender baby back ribs, crispy fried chicken tender appetizers (they should season them more), good potato salad and bbq beans, a refreshing strawberry lemonade and fluffy biscuits (the sugar on top isn't necessary for those who want savory). Before I begin to give you my analysis of Lucille's, based on my one and only visit, I want to remind you of two things: I always compare/rate a place based on its category and like venues and I am a lifelong vegetarian/vegan. OK, so, as one of my Yelp buddies who is also a vegetarian pointed out, it may seem strange to see us eating at what is clearly a meat joint like Lucille's. However, if you have been a vegetarian (and a teetotaler, sort of) as long as I have, you will have had to find things to eat and drink in every type of place, all over the world. And, you become quite clever at it. That said, Lucille's has a lot of great things for a vegetarian (fewer for vegans, but they are there). It is actually a broad and deep menu and I realized I saw too many things I liked, to have all in one visit. My pictures will show you what I ordered, so I won't go into it here and if you really study the menu, looking at every single item, you will find as I did a lot of great choices. The place itself is enormous. There is one huge main room and flankers. There is also an outdoor/indoor patio and a giant wrap around bar. I imagine it must be full on Friday and Saturday nights. But, since it is very family friendly, it probably packs people in every night of the week. We were there on a late afternoon, Sunday, after an exhausting Saturday, so, all I wanted to do was slide into a booth and vegetate and have comfort stuff ferried to me. Our server, Natalia was super. She was chill but warm and friendly and genuinely seemed to understand what I was looking for. She has also worked for the Lucille's chain for over five years and loves it. That is an important aspect of a successful restaurant: happy, well cared for staff. The food was delicious. It is probably fattening, I won't deny it and so I had to take a lot home in the sturdy black plastic containers she happily brought. The tab was really reasonable. The place is clean, the art on the walls -- simulating, I guess, New Orleans vibes? -- is charming. It was noisy but not too much so. The music was good but not intrusive. Oh, and it is at the lovely Valencia Town Center, such a great place, easy parking, perfect for exhausted diners, LOL. If you are a vedger, don't hesitate to try it. Lucille's in Valencia is fantastic! My husband and I just left after having really delicious meals, and it was so good that we ordered a pulled pork sandwich and barbecue chicken salad to go for lunch tomorrow. Our dinner started out with scrumptious biscuits with honey butter, I had a delicious drink from the bar that was berry flavored on top, and limeade with melon on the bottom. It was beautiful and so tasty! Our meals were a barbecue tri-tip sandwich with fries, and a 3 meat meal (pulled pork, pulled chicken, and tri-tip) with mac & cheese and I added veggies. All of it was so good, and we kept commenting that the food was more of an experience than just eating to fill up. Dillon, our server, was awesome, too. He definitely helped make our meal especially wonderful. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and offered great recommendations. OK first let me preface my review by saying we have not been here in quite a long time because we were not enamored with this restaurant in our previous visits. We met some friends here tonight. I attempted to order the fresh pan blackened catfish because of the sign, only to be told that they haven't had that for a long time. I was very disappointed, and it hen had to pick something else. My wife ordered the BBQ chicken salad, which she enjoyed. I ordered the boneless fried chicken. It included mashed potatoes and veggies. It was covered with gravy and it was very good. I finally roped someone who looked like the manager and he in fact was a manager. The reason that I wanted to talk to him was to explain how disappointed I was that they have a big sign that says they have a certain menu item yet they do not. In addition, I wanted to express my discontent that the dirty dishes and glasses were left on the table long after we were finished with our meals. This is definitely one of our pet peeves that they will ask you if you want something for dessert when the dinner dishes are still all over the table. The other issues I had are that when I went into the men's room, the threshold is extremely greasy and dirty. As was the Threshold at the front door. Because of these last two issues, I likely will not be returning there soon, and if I do, and I see that the threshold is still dirty, I will not go in. We sat down and Daniel comes over, huge smile on his face so friendly he was great! Our whole experience was amazing! He was attentive friendly communicated was on point he was fast with everything very informative on the menu!!!! 100 stars for Daniel! We get done eating and as we're headed out they have like a little gift shop type thing and they had a tote bag I had seen previous that says "I'm here for the biscuits" which I loved I went and asked if I can get some help and apparently it wasn't for sale the gentleman went out of his way to talk to the manager on duty BLAIRE and between the both of them they went above and beyond to figure how to sale me the bag and even went back to grab me more biscuits this is exactly the type of experience I've always had there and seems like they just had a bad day that specific day!!! I said, "Ok, I'll wait in the seating area. Elissa said my food will be brought out to me when it's ready." I waited for 1 hour and asked for an update. They had placed my food in the area for DoorDash and similar services. I wondered how long it had been ready. The employee put his hand in the bag and said, "It's hot; it just came out." I asked why it wasn't brought out to me. He said Oh, we had a shift change--no apology for this long wait. Something spilled in the paper bag, probably grease, and the bottom of the bag started ripping. The food was cold. I was tired and frustrated, and I should have refused the food and gotten a refund. I will never try them again--horrible customer service. Regarding the food... The brisket was chewy. The pulled pork had several chunks of fat and was very greasy. The "creamy coleslaw" tasted like cabbage with a little vinegar. The portions are so small, barely filled half of the container that it came in. Well we decided to give this place another shot and actually got HOT food on HOT trays! Went on a Tuesday night and avoided sitting in the bar area. Our server was Carter who was absolutely on point. Provided honest recommendations, checked on us, good guy, and definitely 100x better than the last server we had. Place was about half full and wasn't loud, family ambiance, and bar was quiet. Food was better at the correct temperature, chicken was a bit overcooked and dry, biscuits were delicious, brisket was good, ribs a bit sweet, we are not fans of Lucille's original sauce, it's too sweet and just tastes like molasses. I'm thinking of BYOB (bring your own bbq sauce) for the next time or ordering takeout without sauce. Cracked out eggs are the best! Especially with fresh and hot onion strings! read more

So what in the world is a vegetarian doing reviewing Lucille's smokehouse barbecue, and how did it get such a good rating from me? These are the questions. I hope to answer in this unexpected review. Lucille's has never been on my radar as a place to go but an organization I'm involved with was having a fundraiser here and I like to support. I saw there were some vegetarian options on the menu and thought at least I won't starve there. First of all, they bring you a basket of biscuits I've written reviews of breakfast and biscuit restaurants all over the country and go through many phases where I'm pretty sure most of my body is made up of biscuit. These biscuits were fantastic, slightly sweet, but not overly so, delicious with the butter they provided, and perfectly flaky in the exact way that biscuits should be. I would literally come to Lucille's just to eat these biscuits. (Since they give them to you for free, I'm not sure that's allowed... But I'm sure going to try.) I'm also a big fan of bourbon and whiskey, both neat as well as in cocktails. Their bar was well stocked with all kinds of different whiskeys and bourbons. You don't normally see at a bar. Plenty to try there, and I would definitely go back just to sit at the bar and drink whiskey. (Maybe that's enough to get me free biscuits. I had the Kentucky cooler cocktail kind of a lemony Swedish bourbon situation, which was truly delicious from first sip all the way through to the end. Alarmingly easy to drink and not sickly Sweet like some places to their cocktails. I got a couple of sides for my main including hot honey. Cauliflower bites, they're served like little wings with a tasty bread, coating them and a super delicious hot honey to dip them in. It seems like every place is offering some kind of cauliflower situation to vegetarians... This was one of the best ones I've had. Truly a southern dish that fit right into the rest of the menu. The other side I got was country fair corn pudding topped with butter and, as a vegetarian, I'm not limited to sides either... though there are plenty more of those to choose from that suit, my diet. They've also got a "Callin' All Vegan's Back Porch Bowl." - not 100% my jam, but it's nice that they offer it. As a fan of the food and vibe of Southern cuisine, I do wish there was a vegetarian version of their braised greens, and I would be over the moon if they found some way to do a plant-based meat barbecue situation of any kind... That would wildly seal the deal. But they've also got okra cheddar cornbread loaded, mashed potatoes, roasted Street, corn, garlic, mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, and a few more, so the idea that I might starve here is just not a possibility. I would definitely come back to Lucille's to drink, eat sides, and enjoy those fine, fine biscuits. Well done Lucille's, you made this vegetarian pretty happy. However, we ordered the buttermilk fried chicken from the kids menu to go for my 2yr old after he fell asleep while we were dining in. Update: Went back to Lucille's and this time food was delicious my brother and I we were both satisfied. So I'm giving Lucille's 5 stars The ribs were soft and tasty Gave my brother some of my proteins to try he gave them 2 thumbs up too. He loved his pulled pork sandwich.
