THAI REVITALIZED WITH BANGKOK KITCHEN IN MUKILTEO !!!!!!! After purchasing Evalyn's Chateau aka Charles at Smugglers Cove, my wife and I have been trying to hit up all the local restaurants to both help support them as well as find the good ones. Fortunately, we just found the best Thai place only around the corner from our new place. Our order consisted of: Fresh Rolls, Phad Sweet Basil, Yellow Curry, Tom Kha and of course Phad Thai. If you eat Thai at all, you will know that both Tom Kha and Pad Thai are a basic staple. But the taste at Mukilteo Thai goes beyond anything we have eaten outside of Bangkok. I feel the best thing about the T.K. is the fact that they do not leave all the non-edible flavoring in the soup. No spitting out the tough strong roots of misc. Thai Cuisine. Just enjoy the best T.K. I have ever had. My wife is very picky about her Phad Thai. She basically rates all Thai restaurants on this dish. I personally have never been that over fond of it until last night. Amazing. Cannot go wrong. Not dry. Great flavor, just wonderful. After trying the Phad Sweet Basil with Tofu, I just wanted to keep it all to myself. Somehow, I managed to hide a small serving from my wife which I just ate for lunch. The yellow Curry is flavored with coconut and ads a wonderful but not overbearing sweetness and flavor to this curry dish. I think they should rename the place Bangkok Kitchen. Mukilteo Thai is located in a strip mall on Mukilteo Speedway, so I probably would have never eaten here if I didn't have friends in the area. But, I do, and I'm so glad we tried this place out! When you enter, you are immediately hit with "comfy, cozy" feeling. There weren't a lot of people in the restaurant when I was there, but the people who were there seemed to be local regulars, which is a good sign. The waitress was super friendly and accommodating (my friend's daughters had never eaten Thai and were a bit hesitant about it). In fact, she was so friendly that I'd go back just to see her again! :) I ordered us a hot pot of Tom Khai (mild), and it was PERFECT. I love, love, love when this soup is done right. It is the most delicious thing on the menu, and that's saying a lot since there are so many tasty Thai menu items. This was a big hit at the table. I ordered the red curry with chicken at "burn your tastebuds off and go into sensory overload" level (3.5 out of 5), and aside from me sweating like a prostitute in church while I was eating, it was super yummy. I would probably go with a 2 the next time around, though. I have noticed that Washingtonian Thai places do NOT mess around when you order something "medium." It comes VERY spicy. I love me some spicy food. My friends split and order of Pad Thai and seemed pleased. Easy introduction to Thai. :) Prices are very reasonable. I have eaten here many times and I like the restaurant. But twice I ordered sticky mango. But since they didn't have mangoes they didn't Subtract the price of them. We called in to order take-out and they quoted 20 minutes. It was done right on time when we entered to pick up! We had the pad thai with prawns, pad see ew with beef, tom yum soup with prawns, and sticky rice with mango. Price: 4/5. The base price (~$10/entree) is market price for Thai food in CA, and it's authentic Thai food so no complaints. The only downer is that, depending on your meat selection, things add up quickly - e.g. beef is +$2 and prawns +$4. Food: nothing spectacular, but it hit the spot and portions are great for the price. We'll have leftovers for tomorrow. My only complaint is that the sticky rice was too sticky, so I had some difficulty cutting/biting it into smaller pieces at first. Mango wasn't the freshest either, but by no means bad. Customer service: the lady behind the counter was pleasant and generous! We wanted an itemized receipt and she was great about getting it out quick and accurately. read more

I drive by this place everyday when I'm staying in town. It is on the corner where I turn to go to Everett (via SR 526) and on the way when I'm going to the YMCA. Typical Thai restaurant. I got the Tom Yum Koon soup and Shrimp Pad Thai. Nothing crazy fancy about the place. Kinda quiet on a Sunday evening, but it is good and it will scratch that Thai food itch of yours. We came to this restaurant on our way to Whidbey Island via the Clinton Ferry, so we ordered take out. They were very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant from what I could see was pretty big and clean as well. The food was delicious and had pretty big portions that we used for a second meal as well. There spice level was reasonable so a mild had no spice and a medium definitely had some heat. They packaged their to-go items well so that they wouldn't spill, but we still took all the precautions necessary. We ordered a Panang Curry, which was on par with all Thai Panang curries I've had; Prawn and Pineapple Curry, this had a similar base to the Panang curry with a good amount of prawns and huge chunks of Pineapple; and the Rad-hna noodles, which came with more broth then typical, but still very flavored. read more

Just staying the night in the area, actually just that the Marriott across the street and thought we'd try it out. The food was delicious I got the mussamun curry and my wife got the Panang both with chicken. The chicken was really good and the flavors were awesome. The reason I wouldn't give five stars is initially the inside of the place smelled terrible so I would not recommend eating in. Then they mixed up the spice levels. The family and I moved to Mukilteo a little over a year ago, and we've been sampling all of the Thai spots around town. There are quite a few, and all of them offer great food and service. Mukilteo Thai has both in spades, though, and makes it stand out among the crowd. Mukilteo Thai more than makes up for its lack of a flashy location (it is right next to a 7-11, after all) by offering up very flavorful dishes with attentive, friendly service. Our kids love the fried rice dishes, and the Curry Fried Rice in particular is quite tasty (with pineapple, raisins, cashew nuts, and yellow curry powder). My wife and I enjoyed the Panang Curry - and love that they don't scoff at the request for fresh, rather than fried, tofu. The heat/spice level is moderated very accurately, and they are quick to bring over an assortment of chili pastes to help you kick it up a notch if they misjudged. Bottom line - totally worth the trip. Don't be put-out by the odd location. Mukilteo Thai has great service and really tasty food. read more

I usually wait until my second visit to write a review but the food told me not to wait. All in all probably the best Thai food I've recently eaten. We started with fresh rolls with tofu served with a peanut and a sweet and sour sauce. A wonderful starter. But next time I think we'll try the chicken satay which also looked good. My friend and I had the lunch portions of Masserman curry and chicken swimming Rama served with pad Thai and rice. We ordered three star which was hot and spicy but not overpowering. My friend didn't like his curry as much as I liked my swimming Rama. But, we agreed that the pad Thai was absolutely delicious. I can't wait to get back to sample more of the wide variety of items they have on their menu. read more

I stopped here for lunch with a friend the other day. I was skeptical since I wasn't very satisfied with my food previously, but my friend insisted that it was great. I got a lunch combo with massaman curry, which was yummy, I'll ask for more stars next time, though, because 4 stars seemed more like 2 when compared to other thai places. The lunch combo came with the usual; pad thai, rice, soup, and a spring roll. The spring rolls were surprisingly good, and the hot and sour soup was really delicious. This is my absolute favorite thai restaurant for a number of reasons (and I've eaten at a lot of Thai restaurants). The food is always top-notch and fresh, and the service can't be beat. The woman who owns the restaurant and works there all the time, is the nicest lady! She is one of the sweetest people i've ever met, especially working in the service industry. I love thai food but I'm extremely sensitive to spiciness (and it's true that their food is quite spicy), but this woman always customizes my dishes so that they aren't spicy at all, even the Panang Curry. I had to run an errand at the post office and it was time for an uber-late lunch, what's this? a brand new Thai restaurant close to work....I'm game. Ordered a lunch combo 1: Panang Curry with chicken, 5 star. It came with your typical Thai lunch combo stuff: Rice and Pad Thai. It almost came with some salad (lettuce was good, but man that dressing was super sweet, spring rolls were tasty and crispy). The curry was yummy, the spicy-ness level was exactly what I wanted (although IMO I would consider the amount I eat of spicy food only a 3-3.5 star). The pad thai was awesome IMO for a lunch combo pad thai. In a lot of places the pad thai you get with lunch combos tend to be dry and the sauce is almost like ketchup, maybe it was because I came in late and it had to be cooked to order for me rather than sitting around for the lunch rush. But fresh pad thai is always good pad thai. My food came out very fast, which was perfect because I was starving. The actual decor of the restaurant IMO is kind of boring, but at least the place is clean. And honestly if eating a boring restaurant means more food on my plate for the same price as others, or cheaper prices, I'm all for it. Service was friendly and fast, and I did not have to ask for my water to be refilled twice. So that was good too. Pricing was also very fair. I think I was right under $10 after tax and tip. I won't be working where I am too much longer, so I'm not sure how often I'll be in Mukilteo in the next couple weeks. But if I were to be sticking around I would definitely keep this place an option for Thai. So recommended in my book. ~G read more

Very good food! We went here tonight for the first time. The poor cook (maybe owner?) was all by himself and was cooking, serving, answering the phone, and cashier! He was so great and even brought us a free appetizer! I had the swimming rama, it was super creamy and tasty! We had tiny spring rolls and fresh rolls both were super tasty! Finally checked out this restaurant last week during lunch time. It was before 11:30 and there was no one in the restaurant. My friend and I were seated immediately. The lady was very friendly. I ordered the Chicken Penang lunch special. It came with a scoop of steamed rice, good portion of Pad Thai and the Chicken Penang in a soup cup (see pic). The Chicken Penang was very good and it was just the right spiciness for 3 on their spiciness scale of 1 to 5. The Pad Thai was really good and it was cooked perfectly with the noodles cooked al dente. I will definitely go back during dinner time. read more

This review is only for takeout as I have yet to dine in. My order is always ready in around 10 minutes -- they'll give me a 15 minute quote but it is always ready earlier. I appreciate the fast service and not having to wait when I arrive. They are always nice on the phone and very sweet when I pick up my food - offering chopsticks or extra silverware if I'm not going straight home. I appreciate the thoughtfulness! I tend to stick to my favorites and order red curry and drunken noodle (pad ke mao). Both of which are delicious. One time I got shrimp in my curry and was really happy with the amount of shrimp in the dish (not skimpy with the more expensive protein like some places can be). The only negative is that I feel the spice level is not consistent. I always order 3 stars (in their 1-5 level) and sometimes feel it is a little spicier than expected. Nonetheless, it is never unbearable and I still enjoy it! read more
