It pains me to write this review, but I have noticed a decline in Mulan over the past few years. Today, however marks the pinnacle of that decline. It started with me ordering two sushi rolls, wonton soup, and spring rolls. Everything seemed completely together on the initial inspection however when I got home and began to eat my spicy salmon and shrimp tempura roll I knew something was wrong. To my dismay upon a second inspection I found fatty untrimmed cheap farm raised salmon in my favorite roll along with several pieces of rotting avocado. This is not indicative of the once delicious family owned Mulan I used to know when I was younger. Hopefully this is just a one time occurrence, but it still needs to be addressed read more

So I have to comment again because i tried it again and the food was worse. The General Tso chicken had pieces that were all breading and had a stale taste. I was very disappointed that the wings are pieces, not whole wings as advertised on their menu and website. $9 for 6 small pieces is a rip-off. read more

Went there for dinner tonight and the atmosphere is just dirty. The booth we were seated at was dirty. We had vegetable rolls and veg soup to start. Soup had no flavor. We got honey chicken to split and it was horrible it was mostly breading and a tiny piece of tough chicken. Rice wasn't even offered with the entree. We've had the Chinese, Thai, and sushi options and all are really good. The Chinese is strongest, with excellent cumin beef, egg rolls, and fried rice. The yellow Thai curry needs a little more curry powder but is very tasty, as are the Tom Yum soup and spring rolls. The sushi rolls are very tasty, and certainly hit the spot. Spicy salmon is fairly spicy, and we loved the Phoenix rolls as well. So far, everything is delicious and we love that they have a pickup window for safety. This is one of our Go To restaurants, especially for lunch after church on Sunday. Fairly easy to get a table if you get there between 11:30a and 12N. There is a large variety of tasty lunch specials, both Chinese and Sushi, that will fill you up for less than $10. The waitstaff is attentive and friendly. A pianist performs at a grand piano in the center of the restaurant starting around 12:30p. read more

This is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the area. Unfortunately for me, they are in Collierville and I don't get out that way too often. But when in the area - this is my go-to spot for Chinese. They have over a hundred items on the menu which makes it crazy hard to decide what to order. But some of my suggestions would be as follows: Hot and Sour Soup Crab Wontons Spring Rolls Mulan Shrimp King Pao Chicken Walnut Chicken Those are my faves, but honestly, I've never had anything here I didn't really like. I had seen crab rangoons on my TikTok for you page a couple weeks ago and since then, I've been dying to try it. One of my close friends told me that Mulan Bistro had some good ones and that I needed to try it. I'd been here a couple of times before but never knew they carried the crabmeat cream cheese wantons on their menu! So, after a weeks worth of hoping and waiting, some friends of mine finally agreed to take the trip with me to finally try the long awaited crab rangoons. We stepped into the restaurant and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming of our party. I ordered my the crabmeat cream cheese wantons and after a quick wait, they finally arrived. After a quick survey of the beautiful plate of wantons with sweet n' sour sauce that was to DIE for, I took my first bite and the flavors exploded in my mouth! The sweetness of the wanton and sweet n' sour sauce combined with the creaminess of the crab and cream cheese inside mixed and came together to create this wonderful experience that I will never forget! I would 150% recommend Mulan Bistro's crabmeat and cream cheese wantons to anyone and everyone, it is a once in a life time experience that I wish everyone could have! read more

I've been going here since it opened, I love it that much!! Seriously the best sushi in town for an affordable price $5 for 8 rolls can't find a better deal then that. Plus their crab wontons are the best wontons I've ever had. They are perfectly balanced crab to cream cheese with a hint of garlic and are best when paired with the spicy shrimp roll. These stupid mother efferz don't even use rice wine vinegar in their sushi. I thought it was just a one time thing. But no. FOUR SEPARATE sushi orders over the course of a year... no rice wine vinegar. They have really gone down hill in the past two years... I can get the same entrees in New York for half the price AND better quality. It takes FOREVER to get the bill. They never fail to forget something from our order too. Pretty good food though their cold food was much better than the other food. I especially enjoyed the pig ears and the cold noodles. The tripe and bamboo dish was okay but lacked flavor. The sautéed string beans were just okay. Also had a fried pork dish that was okay but had a bit to much filler veggies with it. Pork though was nice and crunchy. I'm surprised I have not reviewed a Mulan before. I have eaten here a few times over the years and even gotten takeout, but even though it is very close for us it has not been a regular dining spot. Last night I was in the mood for a change from our usual haunts. We actually tried the Mexican place around the corner first, but it was packed. Mulan was pretty empty so it won. We ordered hot and sour soups, vegetable egg rolls, and chicken lo mein for the spouse. The soups came out pretty quickly. I had not specified a cup or a bowl. The spouse said bowl, but since he was getting lo mein I took the bowl when our server brought us a cup and a bowl. I prompted her about the egg rolls and she brought those as well. The soup was great and I could not have finished the huge bowl if I tried. I did end up giving more to the spouse as his lo mein was a long time coming. A looong time. The server did not check on us and just as we were giving up she brought the lo mein. It was fine, but by that time we were ready to leave. read more

In all cases, the staff was very polite and attentive, but the food is just...bland. Not much seasoning at all. When folks write that "it's the best in town", it makes me wonder what is the limit of their Chinese food experience. This place is one my favorite spots in Memphis! I've been coming here since 2006 and the food is consistently delicious. My favorite roll is their volcano roll (old style- they do it differently now days, and yes it's as delicious as it is different) with a side of pink sauce! I typically enjoy eating Thai and Chinese, but I tried this place for the first time and was very displeased! I ordered the General Tso's meal and wanted to switch the white rice with vegetable rice, and it was an issue. It's just rice! I didn't want meat for free, just to simply switch the rice. As much as I would like to give this place 4 stars for it's flavors, I'll give it a one for it's terrible service. We were a party of four adults and three kids and were given a table almost instantly when we entered, inspite of the restaurant being a full house at the time. It was after about 25 minutes when my 7 year old son went up to the server and let her know that we were ready to order. She came to our table and took down our order in such a hurry that I had to remind her that she hasn't taken all of our orders yet. We finally got our food 50 minutes after ordering!! When the food arrived, she had included a beef entree which we had ended up canceling at that very second when she took our order and had swapped the same for a chicken one. I let her know that we had ordered just the chicken entree and not the beef one. She responded quickly and LOUDLY showing us the order which she had written down. I had to tell her to stop yelling at me and that we had waited 50 minutes to get our food! After such behavior from the server and with 3 hungry kids getting restless, I would have liked to walk out, but it was close to 9pm already. She did end up taking the beef entree off our check and apologized for her behavior, saying she was overwhelmed with so many tables full at the restaurant. SUGGESTION: Do Not accept customers if you're unable to accommodate them! Customers are not punching bags for you to went out your inability to handle a packed restaurant and neither are they dining at your restaurant for free. They have other options to which they could put their money at. All in all, good food but terrible customer service. read more

On today I ordered Lemon grass with chicken at 11:10. When I got home and was eating my food I found a fly in it. There was also a questionable looking piece of meat in my food. I called the restaurant and told them what happened and the lady who answered was very hesitant to say anything but asked me to bring it back. When I brought it back she asked me if I ate the food and if so she could not give me my money back. I persisted and she begrudgingly tossed my $20 back to me. BEWARE OF BUGS. DO NOT EAT HERE. This place is the absolutely most overpriced piece of garbage in the area. We have repeatedly given them a chance with absolutely no satisfaction whatsoever. If you eat the broccoli and beef be prepared to eat scorched tire, as far as the sushi....don't get me started. 13$ for a soft shell crab roll, which the person taking the order didn't even know what was, and only 6 pieces. When you spend 13$ on a roll, it should be huge. I spent 66$ on one sweet and sour chicken (with the fried rice being forgotten but charged for), and 4 rolls. Ridiculous. We eat at Mulan at least once a week. The lunch specials are an excellent value and are plenty of food. The sushi is great as long as you are eating it there. It does not travel well when ordered for delivery. We love to eat in or have it delivered! The wait staff is not the friendliest, but they get the job done. read more
