During my university days I was a regular here. I would probably come in for a slice once a week. Prices were always affordable and slices were always large enough to fill you up. I would always order a slice of pepperoni and occasionally tried some of their other creations. No pizza I got from there was ever anything other than delicious! Service was very fast! I would order at the counter, pay, and like that my slice would be nice and hot and waiting for me to devour it. The inside of the restaurant is cozy - it's not very big inside, but there is enough room to go there with a group of friends. They play a bunch of vintage songs, which I don't mind. read more

I didn't have breakfast today, so I was a bit loopy when I arrived. By the time I realized I hadn't paid, there was a huge line. A young lady asked if she could help with anything, and I let her know I called in an order. She said they would ring me up once the calzone was done. Very clean dining area. I'm gonna be absolutely biased because this Pizza got me through college, but it is some of the best pizza I've ever had. I remember at one point thinking as I left Chico, I had one of the best burritos I've ever had and I've also had one of the best pizza slices from this place that I've ever had. We tried this place downtown for the first time recently and found it to be very good. It is a simple place serving pizza and other Italian dishes. The decor inside is spare. Service is friendly. The food is very good, and enjoyable, but not excellent. We had a slice of mushroom pizza (4) and lasagna (4), both with a side salad. These were all good and well made, but both were slightly on the bland side. The sauce on both was very light on the herbs and needed actually a touch of salt. Otherwise, this was good and for a simple Italian meal or pizza, we'd go here again. They serve whole pizzas as we all as pizza by the slice, a nice option and logical for a university town. Atmosphere: It is next to a college and has a regular student customer base. The entrance walks leads to the glass pizza case where it is available to buy by the slice. They had a paper menu but the walls above the pizza case had pictures of their popular dishes. A fountain drink dispensary, silverware, and paper plates. The interior decor is that of mix between college and cafeteria. Although they have several monitors showing sports. I thought I saw outdoor seating in the back too. 4 Service: The staff was quick to take my order. There is no table service. The environment feels a bit hurried. 4 Prices: cheese pizza slice is $3.25. Pepperoni was $3.75. I had the student special that was one slice of cheese or pepperoni and a drink, I think it was $4.50. Quality: the sauce was great, portions were larger than usual for regular pizza places. Crust was thin and had that flour taste that was good. It had been a long time since I had pizza. 5 I would repeat for the pizza over the big 4 commercial chain. I would also try the salad and sandwiches if there is a next time. read more

I have been coming to celestino's for over a decade (even made the 1.5 hour drive from Sac just to get pizza and bring it home for my birthday). I've had pizza everywhere (except new york) and this place still beats even Italy. I miss it and crave it regularly but the Rocklin location is terrible. I'd rather make the drive out to chico. My favorite is the godfather, my bf's favorite (he went to chico state) is tom Jones or Oscar's spicy luau. I'm not sure I've even tried their other options because of how much I love the godfather. Boyfriend brought me here as it was one of his old college stomping grounds. I ordered a veggie pizza with artichokes, olives , and garlic. SO good!!! We also ordered the lunch set which comes with a slice and side salad and the salads we're ginormous. Put on hold for 10 min, only took 2 min to ask questions and order two Medium Pizzas for over $60, and the gal goes to hang up but doesn't quite do it before making comments of "geez"!!! Could probably tell I was ticked about waiting for 10 min to start with but I was polite and didn't just bitch her out. Yes. It's dinner time at 5pm, but her excuse is that she's the only one available. Sounds like a staffing problem to me then. If you're selling a pizza for $35-$42 ea then you can afford another staff member to take orders at dinner rush hour!! No excuses for this. Then it's another 35 min for the order to be ready. Fair, considering the timing. But not the attitude. Next time, you'll get my attitude, or just not my business any longer. Oh, and it was only Wednesday evening.
