A restaurant where everything on the menu is under $6... what?!?! But yes, that's the name of the game at Mulligan's in Biddeford, where you can feed a family of four for about $20. When we first drove up to this place (a green awning in a sea of rundown brick buildings), some folks in our group were a bit skeptical. The inside however was surprisingly well-maintained (nothing fancy, but your typical restaurant / pub vibe). They had a bunch of pool tables, big screen TVs, lots of open space, and a bar area - this would definitely be a great place for catching a game. There were also tons of families and large groups eating here. Service was a bit of a grab bag - our initial hostess was a bit gruff, but our actual waitress was friendly and attentive. Food was also kind of a grab bag - food reactions within our group ranged from "meh" to "quite good." I ordered the steak (yes, a 5.99 steak... I was feeling brave). The flavor was good but it was pretty fatty - I think I'd try something different next time. Also, our group's steaks were all cooked extremely well done, despite them being ordered as medium - I don't think they really differentiate between rare/medium/well done here... you kind of just get what you get. I got rice pilaf for my side and it was a bit undercooked. Fries were decent, but unspectacular. The burgers and more standard pub fair food looked like safer options. The consensus among our group was that we'd come again, mainly for the crazy-low prices and fun atmosphere, but some of us might try different entrees next time. read more

Why did we wait so long to try Mulligan's ? Went last night and were pleasantly surprised. Hubby had steak dinner and a cup of coffee; I had clam cake dinner with fries and cole slaw. With an order of onion rings as an appetizer, the bill was $24 ! We were seated quickly and we didn't have to wait too long for the food to come out- the kitchen seems to have their act together. Hubby said the steak was pretty good, it came with a lot of mashed potatoes so he was happy. My clam cakes were somewhat flavorless but fries and slaw were pretty good. The fries could have been hotter but it can be tough to coordinate cooking times so plates go out together. Mulligan's loses a few points for not making their own tarter sauce but I understand. All of the other diners dishes that we saw looked pretty good....So, support them and go for a good, solid meal......stay for a game of pool. Mulligan's has become a regular lunch spot for me when I'm eating with other people and the reasons are price and consistency. If I go on Wednesday, I'll probably get the pasta & meatballs special for $2.50. That's not a typo, it's enough lunch to fill me up for less than three dollars. Other times I'll decide that money is no object and spend less than $5 for the chicken parm, pulled pork sandwich, or the Friday fish special. They also have locally brewed beer for the Banded Horn brewery, just a few blocks away. I've been to Mulligan's for dinner a few times and it's the same menu and prices. But the lunch crowd seems a little more festive and that's what I know the best. As for the quality of the food, it's better than you'd think from the prices. I'm not a fan of the ribs and the prime rib isn't going to make you think you're in Ruth's Chris, but I've found a number of things that I think they do well and I wouldn't hesitate to eat there at least once or twice a week. Service is also good and the place seems reasonably clean. The atmosphere is sort of like that of a big bar/restaurant that wants to be busy before the bar crowd shows up. I don't know if that's really true but it describes the decor and the feel of the place. I don't know if there's much here for vegetarians, you'd have to ask. If you're a local, you've probably been to Mulligans. If you're a tourist in the area wondering where to go for lunch on a rainy day, you'll want to try Mulligan's. read more

This place is a hidden gem I had a great steak dinner with real mashed potatoes and gravy for $7.99 when we asked the waitress why things were so cheap she said they just went up on their prices everything used to be 4$4.99 and under. They do not do takeout they make most of their money off of liquor. I was very surprised the place was very clean there was six pool tables only one was being used everybody had on masks and self distanced tables were spaced apart. My girlfriend got the half rack of baby back ribs with french fries and gravy for $6.00. This place needs customers they don't know what they're gonna do with this Covid business has not been up like everybody else so if you have a chance to venture out try this place out I had a very decent size tossed salad with blue cheese and a great Almond joy Martini. Not a bad place to get a decent meal at a great price! Stopped by with the family and everyone enjoyed the food. My husband and I were surprised that it wasn't all frozen food, for all meals are under $5. We were expecting everything to be frozen and small portions, but not at all! The place is a pub style set in one of the old mills, so it was neat. They have pool tables, if you are looking for that. The waitress was nice and attentive. I heard rumors that at lunch time there may be a wait, but we were seated immediately and for the price, I could understand a wait and I would say it would be worth it! Love this place. The prices are cheap for a filling meal, staff are friendly, the billiards are free to play. I made a routine with some friends before covid hit to eat dinner here for $6, enjoy some free popcorn from the bar, and then go play some pool. To me, this was GREAT deal to enjoy an evening out with good company at a cool bar/restaurant. Will definitely be going back now that I know theyre still open. read more

Very nice location and the bar staff is great and very kind. The food is variety of standard bar fare but also offers those comfort food selections. Meals are very very reasonably priced. In Biddeford on business. Found Mulligan's on Yelp. Went there, nice bar very comfortable place, staff was welcoming and very friendly. I figured, looks ok so I took a seat at the bar. Ordered buffalo wings, and a steak and cheese sandwich. My drink was good. Barmaid was attentive. Food was ok. Yep, just ok. A man made his way around the bar thanking patrons for coming in. And he asked those eating, how was your meal? I gave an honest review and told Joe, it was "ok". A minute later, Joe, the owner came around the bar, came up alongside me and said, " just ok?" I gave him my honest opinion. And we chatted for a few minutes. I will definitely go back to Mulligan's. Not because it was great but because Joe is a class act and genuinely cares about his business and his customers! I was impressed by Joe and his sincerity. Truly amazed at how they can keep their prices so low. Walked into Mulligan's for a hearty lunch after running 13.1 miles in nearby old orchard beach - i was prepared to eat. I got the country fried steak, my wife had the steak and cheese sandwich. Both portions were quite large, and well cooked. This isn't gourmet food, but it's better than you're going to do anywhere else for the price. The atmosphere also made me smile - seemed like a very working-class restaurant, lots of families, young and old, just getting out of the house to share a good meal together. John Taffer couldn't save this place. From the hostess slurring her words that should have been the sign to leave. The place looked like a mess with some Wink Wink business going on by the pool tables . Now to the food forget about it. Took over and Hour and 20 minutes to get pasta with butter and cheese , chicken finger plate, fried chicken sandwich and a Freezing cold steak . They served the appetizer fries with the meal. We were on a college visit and thought it would be a fun stop for dinner. The place is a pub style, so didn't expect it to be super clean. The waitress seemed nice, but she was not very good. We only ordered drinks because they were having power issues and not big fans of eating in the dark. The drinks were not that good. My daughter had a lemonade that just tasted like water with lemon. If you haven't tried Mulligan's yet, I highly recommend the meatloaf dinner or the steak and cheese. The steak and cheese sandwich is packed full of meat and they do NOT skimp on the cheese! While you're waiting for your meal, you can nibble on some popcorn from the free self-serve popcorn machine. They have a few muted big screen TV's set up around the place with news and/or sports playing. Well as you can tell from the reviews this place is pretty cheap...tasting that is. I am also utterly disgusted by the way my friends and I have been treated tonight. I have eaten here multiple times and placed my order for just their food no hesitation, never asked my age or anything of the sort. Until tonight when I had the displeasure of meeting the owner of the establishment itself. After my age appropriate,"Guardian" was taking my friends and I out for dinner due to the fact we have eaten here in the past, we thought it would be a great place to show them. We are not hoodlums we are not the people that go somewhere looking to get alcohol underage we just wanted something to eat and for a good price. The short blonde waitress looked us up and down rudely, scoffed at us and told us to leave because we werent of proper age even though we had someone over the age limit with us. Because we have eaten here before we were extremely confused about why we couldn't sit down to eat anymore. We asked to speak to the manager so we could figure why this was happening, rudely he told my,"Guardian" who by the way is a sheriff from cumberland county jail that he was a liar and that he had obvious mental disabilities. Everytime my friend tried to explain something to the owner, the owner would laugh at him and tell him he is a liar. Many other rude things were said by this obviously disturbed member of management that I will keep to myself so I wont have to get explicit or hurt any feelings. All in all he admitted to not having an actual restraunt license only an alcohol license so he served us food illegally? So says he..... And not very smart moves questioning an officer about their intentions as to say he was trying to get us into the bar or do something that had nothing to do with what we came there for. I an so dissapointed in what has happened that I can't even begin to understand how this place can keep running the way it is. From the looks of these reviews it seems to me that we werent the only ones treated so rudely so heres to all of you who should have been treated like human beings instead of animals, I am so sorry that this treatment is considered acceptable in todays society. read more

If you have $5.00, hungry and want great food...This is the place for you!! Mulligans menu consists of food that costs $4.99 or less !! Yes..... $4.99 or less!!! The wait staff is usually very nice and attentive......Even when it's busy. ( Everyone has a bad night so I'll look past that.) I usually get the same thing....Lasagna or chicken pam. Every person I have brought to Mulligans becomes an instant fan and always says "I can't believe everything only costs $4.99 or less!! " The best part of a very affordable meal is....It's good!!! I go there about twice a month since it's a little out of my way...But worth the special trip. I highly suggest you at least try it out...I am willing to bet you will want to return and try something else out on the menu or stock with the same meal. Oh yeah...The food portion is pretty big which you wouldn't expect for $4.99. It's a very casual environment and plenty of parking. We've had several average items but again come on it's $4.99 or less. You may think they'll get you on the drinks but think again. Bud & Bud Light drafts $3.01 and great craft beer selection at $3.88 each. Odd prices but I'll take it. My first Mulligans experience was on my 21st birthday and of all the bars in Biddeford Maine this one is not nearly as sketchy as the others. I have been here several times. A few times just for drinks and others for dinner. The beers are cheap ( $3.50-4.00) and the food is even cheaper. The food is actually decent and nothing is really over $5.00. I'm giving this 3 stars because we eat here more than I would like to admit. My kids love this place! I don't know why. My guess is the free popcorn. You are better off sticking to bar favorites: chicken tenders, fries, daily specials. They have no fresh veggies except for lettuce. It probably helps to keep the price down. Appetizers are a great deal, but they changed the serving size of the nachos near the end of last summer. Such a bummer. Bloody Mary is tasty and spicy. Makes everything else taste better. It's not the cleanest of restaurants. Just don't look up or at the artwork or at anything on the walls. You should also stay clear of the back hall near the restrooms. The small ladies rooms are dark and a little scary. Wait staff is hit or miss. They are much better when it's mildly busy, not busy or empty. To sum up, this is not my favorite place to eat, but will probably go again with the husband and kids. read more

Seems to me that most of the food around here is of a similar caliber... and twice the price! Moved up to Old Orchard earlier this month... and have already been here like 4 times. Honey bunny loves the $5 steak (butter and garlic with mash. as good as I make at home... and inexplicably less expensive?!?) and I've had the Boston Salad, Baked Stuffed Haddock, Prime Rib, Haddock Chowder, and Spinach and Artichoke Dip. Everything was great, really. The haddock was maybe a little dry at the corners, but the stuffing was pretty awesome. And, I mean, for 5 bucks or less a plate, how do you beat it? For all you drinkers out there, the beers are pretty inexpensive and cold. They even have Wookchuck Cider! Also, their frozen drinks appear to be made by someone with a heavy pouring hand... which I think is a pretty sweet bonus. Haven't had dessert here yet, but I will eventually get to it. We are from the west coast and are staying in Maine for a night, and we wanted to get some pub food. We checked the menu online and decided to dine in. Not only was the food delicious - I got a chicken caesar wrap and my partner got a chicken sandwich - but it was a great value! Both meals, plus beers, and an extra side cost less than $30! I love how everything on the menu is $5 or under and the food is wonderful tasting. I can bring the whole family and there is something for everyone there. The food comes quick and you don't feel rushed when you are there. They do have a dessert menu but you probably won't be able to eat anything off of it because of their generous portions. We usually stop by every year when we're in Maine. Always happy with our food. Last weekend we went to an AAU basketball tournament our grandson was playing in. We all went to Mulligans after Saturdays games. Our son, daughter in law and 2 grandsons loved the food (we told them they would). Every one got something different and it was all great. Fast service, food came hot, price was great, waitress was attentive & the owner (I think he was the owner) stopped by our table and thanked us for coming there. Oh, Mulligans...I miss this place. I can't count how much money and time I spent here with friends in my 20's. The food....well, you get what you pay for, and nothing here is over 5 bucks, which has been the case as long as I can remember. I'm not sure how they've managed to keep the prices so low, but I will resist making the suggestion that the stuff they sell must have 'fallen off the back of the truck' as I don't want to get my ears boxed by the heavily tattooed gentleman who seats people. The beers are also incredibly cheap(especially coming from a Boston perspective) and the place isn't nearly as terrifying as other dive bars in Biddeford. read more

Well, I went on account of the reviews I found on here and it's true- nothing more than $4.99 on the menu! I went for lunch with a friend and decided to order a few things since the price was more than just right. I actually had a hard time deciding because I wanted to try everything! I ordered the baby back ribs w/ fries and the penne alfredo w/ shrimp. She ordered a 12oz steak with mashed potatoes and gravy, as well as an order of cocktail shrimp. I think the shrimp count was 8, not a very spicy cocktail sauce. The steaks come served 6 ways- garlic butter, BBQ, honey garlic (which s what she got), and a few others. It was a sweet sauce, kind of reminded me of TGIF's Jack Daniels BBQ sauce. She ordered it medium and it came a little more like med-rare, but either way- NOT a piece of leather. You get what you pay for? Maybe a little more. The mashed potatoes were good for what they were, dark brown gravy, I laughed and said it was good for cafeteria mashed potatoes. My ribs did fall off the bone, but were a bit dry (probably not many people order ribs there?) Fries were fine as well. The penne... ehh, I'm a carboholic so I don't care either way. Sauce was most likely from a can, but I could also taste some garlic, so I was happy. I think there were more shrimp in our cocktail, but I only paid like $4 for this too. The only really "downer" was the "focaccia bread" was more like a hamburger bun with some cheese baked in or something, but long story long, I would definitely eat here again- there are so many things to try and figured out which are the real bangs for the buck! Unfortunately , I am down grading my review. My family and I went last night (9) of us. The good, Hostess work hard to get us seated in a timely manner even though they were very busy. Waitress was good and attentive. Ribs, large and tasty. Mac and Cheese The bad, Club burger was burnt. Chicken fingers dry and bland Chicken park. Dry Steak was tough and a lot of grisel. Chocolate cake is dry and low quality. This is unfortunate because the last time we were very pleased. I know everything is under 5$ but I know they are better than this.:( read more

Damn good food for under $6 a plate! Waitress was phenomenal, service was slow but I think that's to be expected on a Saturday night during beach season. Chili looked and, I assume, tasted like dog food and the fries were bland and mushy, but everything else was great. There's a reason my group comes back here on every trip! read more
