I've came in here multiple times and there is a guy who works here who is extremely rude with horrible customer service. The shop also increases their pricing above the suggested retail price from the brands they carry. Many designer quality. The Italian designed glasses are in a class of their own! For the past few years I have been seeing Dr. Lindy. She is the best! So smart, kind, and patient. She explains everything in detail. For the first time, I understand what every test is for, what is measures, why it's important, and how to interpret the results. No longer do I squeeze my eyes and try to get a 100 on the eye chart Tests (I know, crazy, because if you need glasses this does not help! But I am type A!) I now answer based on what I see without squinting and trying to get them all right! Lately my eyes have been dry so Dr. Lindy recommended daily lenses rather than the 30 days lenses I've used for 20 years. She gave me samples so I could try before committing. They are perfect. She also sent me home with a list of recommendations on how to improve the dryness. To give my eyes a break, I have switched to wearing glasses most days. I've bought many pairs of glasses over the years but they stayed in my night table. Not much help there! The frames here are so gorgeous, a variety of styles that make it easy for everyone to find a pair that enhances their look. I have two pairs and about to buy my third! What's not to like- nice people, great selection and good prices. And I had the best eye exam that I have ever had in the many, many years of wearing glasses. The staff is knowledgeable and they have eye exam equipment that I have never experienced outside a full on medical setting. Excellent, excellent care and it came with the referral to a ophthalmologist for my more involved eye issues. I have moved from Seattle and needed a new doctor- and this very busy women followed through and I got a call from the new eye clinic. And more icing on this particular cake- a huge selection of frames and, maybe it's just because I am used to Seattle prices, extremely well priced. And the people who work there were knowledgeable, fun and I left today with my new glasses. I love them. I booked my first eye exam in the last 4-5 years here during the pandemic. I went off prior good reviews and took a chance, and wasn't disappointed. I scheduled an appointment online, they followed up within a day and set everything up and set a date, I showed up on time and was seen within a few minutes. The staff was great and friendly at the door, the eye doctor was great and thorough, and then I sat with James to try on glasses and had the most fun I've ever had with the process. James really went beyond and above to make a good experience. He asked me some simple questions to learn a lot about me with a little info, then picked out frames for me to try on and had a LOT of options to choose from. It was honestly difficult to pick with all the great options, so we pulled in a 2nd and a 3rd person for a decision lol. I updated my prescription. One of the workers help me find a pair of glasses that I could afford. I I have progressive lenses. I didn't have any adjustment time with the new prescription, which is unheard of for me, with Progressive lenses. It usually takes me a couple weeks to get used to them. With this prescription I walked out the door seeing more clearly but no adjustment time needed. read more

I stopped by Eyes On Broadway looking to purchase two new glass. They were recommended by my educator work mates. I stopped in and I was the only customer in the store. The counter person said someone would be out in five minutes. Well 15 minutes went by and no one appeared. I had made eye contact with the employee I spoke to when coming in a few times while waiting. So at 20 minutes I headed out. I have been going to EOB for over 15 years, always seeing Dr Boersma. She is amazing, always welcoming, and always remembers where we left off our conversation a year before! Dr Boersma takes the time necessary to get the prescription dead on and pays close attention to my requirements (computer, distance, driving etc). I never needed glasses and haven't really been to the eye doctor sense I was like 7yo but with my insurance and recommendations from my co-workers I decided to make an appointment. I felt comfortable and got walked through every step that was happening before it happened. It turned out I needed glasses and was helped through that whole process as well! they were prompt with my glasses and willing to work with me on getting them fast before I left on vaca. Fast forward to having my glasses for a week, and my frames started slipping and sliding. I walked in and need led some help with that issue, expecting to wait a little. They took me right way and help me until they got it perfect (adding a few rubber pieces behind my ears and adjusting my noise piece) Anyways the point is... this whole team is AMAZING. I had the most wonderful experience at Eyes on Broadway. First of all, they respected my time. After a quick check-in, a friendly professional did some quick screening tests (using very impressive state-of-the-art equipment). Then I got to meet Dr. Heidi Boersma. She was easy to talk to, very knowledgeable, and expertly took me through the remaining tests. In no time I was with the amazing Traci, who presented me with several styles to choose from. She is up on her fashion, and hooked me up with some awesomely glam frames that I love! I got all this done on my lunch hour and was back to work on time. When I got my glasses, I gasped in wonder at the marked improvement in my sight. I can't thank them enough. Great eyeglass styles! I appreciate they are so careful with Covid, but there is no reason to embarrass a customer. I was in the wrong by touching eyeglasses I may want to try on( do not regularly shop eyeglasses). However, once I touched glasses, the sales woman loudly said from the back ' she's touching everything', and then a guy came out and started spraying everywhere I had been. I was so embarrassed.' I once tried another office because they offered vision training and I just wanted to try it out, in the process I realized how incredibly wonderful EOB is and appreciated them even more when I returned the following year for my annual exam. About six months after I got my first real job and stopped relying on my parents' healthcare (through Kaiser) I moved over to NE Portland, and found myself needing to renew my contact prescription - I'd gone to Hawthorne Vision previously, but I decided to look around in my new neighborhood to see what was available. I went to Eyes on Broadway pretty much on a whim, and I've been a face ever since - that was like two or three years ago now. The people are super nice, the prices are about what you'd expect (not exactly cheap, but then optometry stuff is never cheap) and they take real good care of you. For instance - I managed to drop my laptop on my glasses the other day, popping the lens out of the frame and busting the bottom wire - I walked in without an appointment, and five minutes later they'd fixed it, gratis. If you're looking for a new place to get an eye checkup, do yourself a favor and stop by. read more

Best optometrist or frames shop in Portland. I've been coming here for my annual eye exams for about 8 years now. I think the main differentiator here is the the customer service is over-the-top great. They really, really take care of you here. It's worth noting that when I first asked glasses wearing friends (a bunch of tech geek hipsters!) where to go for an optometrist and a good frame selection, the unanimous recommendation was Eyes On Broadway. This place has had a stellar reputation for years. And now I join the chorus. As for the optometry, I see Dr. Heidi, and she's wonderful and personable. The rest of the staff are equally friendly, respectful, and professional. As for the frame shop/retail end of the store, it's amazing. They probably have the best selection of quality frames in Portland. Lots of great stuff to choose from. Of course I suppose this depends on where you are in the prescription lens food chain. It's certainly higher end, spendy fair, well suited to both the fashionista and hipster set. If any of the following descriptions fit you, you probably won't like Eyes On Broadway and you will likely be better suited for someplace like Lenscrafters: -Price is your bottom line (glasses as sheer commodity). -You don't mind walking around looking like a mental patient. -You have five or more children with poor vision, and buying all those glasses is gunna hurt! -You don't mind it if no one ever finds you sexually attractive again. However, if you care about your appearance, intend to have sex in the future, and like to be treated like you are a VIP, this is the place for you. Back to the customer service: this is a place you can pop into anytime to get a frame adjustment--completely for free. And while it's obviously easy to give good customer service when all goes well, I think a more telling experiment is to see how the customer service fares when things don't go so well. So allow me to offer two examples: I once bought a pair of expensive plastic frames, which I smashed inside a Murphy Bed about a two weeks after my 90 warranty was up. Heartbroken, I eventually went into Eyes on Broadway to see if I could salvage the lenses and buy a new set of frames--in order to minimize my loss. They looked at my sad, contorted frames and said, "looks like a defect to me, let's send them out for replacement." And with that, they got me a replacement set for NO CHARGE. On another occasion I bought sunglasses and brought them to Eyes on Broadway to have them sent out for prescription lenses. They sent them out but had trouble with the manufacturer, who got the prescription wrong. They had to send the frames back several times to remedy the issue (which was in no way Eyes on Broadway's fault). Because of the delay, they gave me the prescription for half price. Class act. I couldn't get in to any optometrists in the area for 10 days then called Eyes on Broadway. I explained my concern and they found a slot for me that afternoon!! I am so glad that I went back to Eyes on Broadway, but I have to explain a few things about myself, first, as it will help you understand why they are not just good, but outstanding! I lost my glasses about 6 months ago (they were very good, which I had gotten from Eyes on Broadway in 2019) which I only use for very important long-distance viewing (I am slightly nearsighted with minor astigmatism). I passed my driver's test without my glasses. If I'm out hiking in the woods or high-up in a football stadium, I can see better with my glasses on. I also use them while hunting (which is where I lost them) and that's a very important usage for me so I can just see deer or elk a bit better in thick woods and not have safety issues of whether it's a hunter or game. I was also thinking about using contact lenses so I wouldn't have to deal with foggy lenses on occasion (even after using anti-fog wipers) or when using binoculars. I did talk to them about this when I got my previous glasses but was told they wouldn't work well for me, mostly because of my eyesight not being bad enough. So the reason I delayed a bit in getting new glasses was thinking I should try another optometrist, which I did. I went to a local one near my home, and it seemed okay at the start because they "approved" me trying the contact lenses. I got them quickly, was able to put them on and off okay, but after a few days, I realized they didn't improve my eyesight at all. I had a previous pair of glasses (not from Eyes on Broadway) that were not as good as the new ones from Eyes on Broadway that I had lost that gave me better eyesight than the contact lenses did. So, I decided to get glasses again but I also went back to Eyes on Broadway, mostly because I remembered the eye-testing as being better and more thorough. I'm not an expert on any of this but it sure felt more thorough (more tests, done better) than at the other optometrist. That's the first thing I can verify about them being great. Secondly, they were very good at helping me decide which eyeglass frames I should get and how the lenses should be fabricated (a few variabilities are possible). I am highly confident that I got a much more thorough eye examination and other auxiliary testing at Eyes on Broadway which will result in much better glasses & lenses than I had before.
