This was soooooo good!!!! I walked the entire length of the airport since I had 3 hours to spare and 12k steps to get ... I digress lol... I looked at EVERY menu and read reviews and I settled on this Munchie Bowl!!!!! So good, grits so creamy and light and roast beef juicy and tender !!! I HIGHLY recommend!!

4 & 1/2... Not sure what is going on with the collective rating at the time of this reviews drafting but I very much felt compelled to write this one to due my part to correct it. While it's important to note that I only had cup of the Creole gumbo here while waiting for my departing flight back to NYC, it also must be emphasized that this was surely one of the best Gumbos I've ever had, and more importantly quite likely the best food of any kind I've ever had inside an airport anywhere. The flagship location of this establishment, apparently in a far flung marina way out on the lake on the outskirts of the city got put onto my radar when doing advance research before our recent last minute jaunt down, and when I saw an advertisement on the airport wall upon arrival I made a mental note to make sure and hit it for a final bite and just my luck it literally wound up being located smack dab in front of my returning departure gate. The piping hot bowl "Old School" gumbo was a dark brown broth loaded with generous chunks of the New Orleans holy trinity, which of course would be celery, onions and tomatoes, as well as generous heapings of cubes of Tasso ham and andouille sausage slices, as well as an extremely photogenic blue crab claw popping out of the top like a mythical sea-monster rising out of a haunted lagoon. Needless to say removing the sweet and succulent claw meat out of the exoskeleton wasn't pretty and I made quick and appreciative use of the plastic gloves generously offered by my amiable server who was doing her polite best to hide her laughter at what a mess I was. Shame and stained shirt aside, it was profoundly deliocious, the flavorful spiced broth offering both a serious kick still balanced by the wonderful medley of other flavors provided by the various base ingredients, and balanced off some more with a smattering of nourishing rice mixed in. Can't speak for the other menu options but I can surely say based off this experience, not only would I be willing to venture out for a significant trip out to the boondocks of NOLA on a future visit to check out the actual location of this establishment, but I would also find it hard to imagine taking any flight out of NOLA from here out without grabbing one last bowl of Gumbo here for the road, no matter how stuffed I would invariably already be.

Note: this is more about the service and employees. Unfortunately, I can't review the food since I didn't get to eat it personally since the airport smell combined with the food smell made me nauseous. It wasn't food related. On a good note, my friend tried it and it was ok. Service: you order your food item, pay, and wait for your name to be called. It takes 7-8 minutes so make sure you have time to wait for the cooked food. I ordered the voodoo burger and it was a full meal.

My greeter/order taker/server, Nelshaun was kind, friendly, and helpful, even though it was 6:30 on Monday morning! I ordered the Congress Drive (a street in New Orleans, not a political statement). The andouille/ham/gruyere on croissant was fabulously good, although a little mayo and hot sauce would have made it decadent. The grilled potatoes were surprisingly perfect, hot, tender, and lightly salted. While I don't know if this was the best choice at the airport, it was the best choice I made all morning. I will definitely visit this place if I'm ever at Concourse C at MSY again.

The burgers here are so dry! They are tasteless and overpriced. I know it is airport food, but it is just bad.

The gumbo was good. I didn't order anything else. Conveniently located by Gate C6 for my post-blizzard departure.

Wouldn't even offer some water and ice for food order. Said it was policy and they count the cups. Well you lost my business.

Was looking forward to the lemongrass sauce with squash but ended up liking the classic a bit better. There were a decent amount of big crawfish, but my husbands batch was very hit and miss, many were very small and limp, unable to eat about a third of them. Big tables, lots of space. I feel like waiters that get gratuity feel as though they don't have to work because they have already gotten my tip. Also they charge you $15 if you bring a cake into their establishment. Also I DID not like how they treated a group of "black" young men that came into the restaurant. The food was absolutely disgusting.i hate swai fish. And if your restaurant isn't serving "REAL" catfish at least advertise that on your menu. The fries were hard and overcooked. The egg rolls were semi decent. Definitely would not recommend this place of business

This is an extremely casual place, that is both a seafood market and restaurant. I chose to lunch in. The service is friendly and familiar. I felt just as welcomed as the regulars. The menu is full of tempting selections, but knew a few things I wanted. I started off with a cup of seafood gumbo. After the first bite, I regretted not getting a bowl! Next time! It was rich and flavorful, and was clearly not rushed. Next, I also tried the chicken and andouille gumbo. Also excellent, but just slightly shy of the seafood version. The main portion of the meal was what I came for: the crawfish boil. I asked for spicy, and was informed there was only "just right," and they were correct. Initially, I was surprised that the dish came out warm, but not hot, but that, too, was just right. Oh, and the price! Usually, when you see "market price," you expect to lighten your wallet a bit, but in this case, that meant $5.99 for pound. It's crawfish season, I'm told, but still.... I'm used to paying a lot more. The decor is vintage jazz festival posters. Also, since this Women's History Month, the place is women-owned

One restaurant that locals constantly recommended to me was Drago's Seafood in Metairie, and now I completely understand why. I ordered the charbroiled oysters along with the crawfish platter that came with crawfish étouffée, crawfish mac and cheese, and fried crawfish. Every single thing on the table was incredible. The charbroiled oysters absolutely lived up to the hype rich, buttery, smoky, and packed with flavor. The crawfish platter was just as impressive and gave me a chance to try multiple Louisiana dishes all in one meal. What really stood out to me beyond the food was the service. The staff was extremely friendly, welcoming, and patient with questions from someone who isn't from Louisiana and still learning the local food scene. You can tell they take pride in both the restaurant and the hospitality. The only downside is parking can get a little complicated because the place fills up fast, which honestly says a lot about how popular it is. Just plan ahead or expect a short wait finding a spot. Overall, this is one of those restaurants that feels genuinely loved by locals and absolutely worth visiting if you're traveling through the New Orleans area.

My bartender, Darryl, took fantastic care of me. Vibes in this place are very warm and cozy, I sat at the bar to the right of the entrance as you walk in. I had a half dozen char grilled oysters and a cup of seafood gumbo. I see why the oysters are so popular, they are a hit. Buttery and garlicky, the crusty bread they serve with them is a great compliment to soak up the sauce. I had originally intended on getting the chicken and andouille gumbo but Darryl steered me away from it, he said it was very salty. I trusted his word and went with the seafood gumbo instead and was very pleased with it. The flavors were fantastic, but I am gonna ding it ever so slightly as I think $8.99 is kind of an obscene price for that serving size, but at least it was good. Overall I'm very satisfied with my lunch and the service, I think if you like seafood and you're in their area, you should eat here. Edit - $9 for a pint is a little over the top too, imo. My "light lunch" was $42 before the tip.
