I was there at 10am on a Friday rising to assure I didn't have to wait and I could get my Mardi Gras Festivities started! No matter what you order, get a pineapple big shot to go along with it! This place has the best crawfish I've ever had, even my mom ate 10 pounds by herself! We ordered 12 pounds of crawfish and all of it was perfectly hot, spicy, and seasoned. The service was also amazingly fast as there was a guy who gave all of us plastic gloves, cardboard boxes, plates, utensils, and paper towels. He definitely deserved a tip. Sunday funday in NOLA and shall I say more? We stopped by this seafood eatery on Sunday because we heard great things about the gumbo and crab legs. When we arrived, the streets were booming, sidewalks littered with people, music and culture. When we arrived there was a security guard outside only allow 2-3 ppl inside. Not sure if this is typical protocol but it was hot and we stood outside for about 30-40 mins waiting to enter. Once we got inside, the store was completely dark, when we asked staff about the lights and how we couldn't see the menu, one member shrugged her shoulders and said "power outage". Based on demeanor, I can tell it's happened before and not a big deal. We were told it was out for 3 hours and caused some worry because of health codes, refrigeration, heating and dealing with seafood, that's an issue. With all that considered, We ordered gumbo, crab legs, ooey gooey cake, and boudin balls. The crab legs were the star of the show as they were flavored and good. The gumbo was burnt. The roux taste like we got the scrapings from the bottom of the pot, but the burnt gumbo was no good at all. The boudin was not as crispy as I would like and filling was quite bland. The cake was just that, an under cooked strawberry cake with no distinctive Flavors of strawberry at all. Not sure if this was an off day, but it didn't live up to the hype. read more

I was in New Orleans last week for a girls trip, and Cajun's was close to the house we rented. A few locals recommended it, so we decided to check it out but honestly, I was very disappointed. I ordered the soft shell crab po' boy, and it was a mess. They did not do a good job deshelling the crab--underneath the batter were full-on shells that I had to eat around. On top of that, it felt like it was mostly batter with barely any crab. The po' boy was just okay at best. I also ordered the gumbo... and that was not gumbo. Once I found out the place was Asian owned, it started to make more sense. It just didn't taste authentic. The gumbo had one shrimp (yes, one), mostly chicken, no sausage, and a crab leg that was the spiky kind you couldn't even crack open. Easily the WORST gumbo I've ever had in my life... if you would even call it that. The only reason this place is getting two stars is because of the crawfish pie. Though really, it should be called a crawfish patty. It's made with the same dough used in Jamaican patties and stuffed with crawfish. That was actually decent and the one bright spot in my meal. I wouldn't go back, and I definitely don't recommend this place unless you're just going there specifically for crawfish or Chinese food. For anything else it's a hard pass. read more

Found a new Asian fusion spot in town but their prices were straight up offensive--like running your dog over offensive ($17 won ton soup WTF?!), so I decided to go back to Cajun Seafood for the second time this weekend.
