I never had a bad meal. Never had a bad bag or anything. Never had a bad box of anything. Never had a bad bite of ANYTHING! If you like flavor, seasoning and spice, this is your spot! I always get turkey necks, snow crab, corn, potatoes and eggs. Service is consistent and quick. This location is always clean and the restrooms are attended to. (Only posted my bags this time because I was ready to eat maybe I'll post more later!)

The service is pretty quick, and set up cafeteria style. There's two different lines; the boil seafood and fried seafood/kitchen items. The prices are reasonable. I can only review the crawfish, but I can let you know that this place did not disappoint with a boil crawfish! A few people recommended Cajun Seafood as a spot to check out in New Orleans. I was craving crawfish, so I decided to check this place out. The crawfish was decent in size for early season, juicy, spicy, and full of flavor. There's plenty of seating available. At the time I visited, there was a guy who was manging and cleaning the area. He took great are of us and made sure we had napkins and trays. Just an FYI, Cajun Seafood is outside of the tourist areas.

Wanted a seafood boil but also wanted it to go sooo.. I went here . When you pull up is def brightly lit so you can see inside and pause with ease . Service was standard because they are use to volumes of people coming in and out. Food was surprisingly good , I say that because you see it sitting out and misjudge the taste but I tell you I got the crab legs that was in that bucket and they were still way too remove and so much flavor and I got a side of fried rice and some garlic sauce " which I heard you could get it for free before they got brand new" I didn't even leave when I ordered my food I ate it all there at the restaurant and I felt like a pig but a satisfied one. The ambiance isn't loving but food great.

Best local NOLA food! When I travel, I've learned to eat where the locals eat--and The Original Cajun Seafood did not disappoint. Nestled in the heart of a neighborhood, this spot offers fresh seafood and hot, made-to-order dishes. I thoroughly enjoyed the soft-shell crabs, which were perfectly seasoned and fried, along with the shrimp fried rice. I also grabbed a praline for dessert. Prices are very reasonable, and we opted to dine in. I'll definitely be a loyal repeat customer--this is officially a new tradition for my NOLA trips.

Turkey necks and eggs. I had started eating off one of those necks.

Ok listen. This place doesn't get talked about when coming to get food in New Orleans. Found this spot on the way out and couldn't believe I didn't know about it before. Giant turkey necks, boiled crabs of all sizes, Chinese food, fried seafood platters, fried turkey wings, crawfish by the lb, and even Pig feet. I got some turkey necks with eggs and it was seasoned perfectly. Mad I was leaving and didn't get more. There are a few tables to sit but this is more like a grab and go place. The line was constantly long but constantly moving. This is now on my list everytime I come to town.

THE FIRST STOP EVERY TIME I TOUCH DOWN! This is a buffet style setup as well as fried foods made to order. They have inside seating and depending on the time you go, expect a line. I was there at 10am on a Friday rising to assure I didn't have to wait and I could get my Mardi Gras Festivities started! No matter what you order, get a pineapple big shot to go along with it! You won't be disappointed! The crawfish was yummy and seasoned really well, as always! The corn is spicy and I love it! The crab was an offering but the seagulls loved it! Make sure you stop here and get whatever you have the taste for because you won't regret it!

Crawfish By The Pound

This place has the best crawfish I've ever had, even my mom ate 10 pounds by herself! We ordered 12 pounds of crawfish and all of it was perfectly hot, spicy, and seasoned. The service was also amazingly fast as there was a guy who gave all of us plastic gloves, cardboard boxes, plates, utensils, and paper towels. He definitely deserved a tip. The ambience of this place is casual, it's similar to a food court with tvs displaying the menu. The price for the crawfish was reasonable unlike some other restaurants near it. Overall a great experience and I would recommend this location. The 1.2k reviews don't lie.

I wish we had found this place sooner because we absolutely would have eaten here more than once. We were looking for local seafood, specifically blue crab. We ended up going all over the place until we ended up here. The selection here was fantastic. The pricing was super reasonable. And everything was absolutely delicious. Couldn't recommend this option more. Definitely not a fancy restaurant, but that isn't what we were looking for. Casual, delicious, with local options.

Sunday funday in NOLA and shall I say more? We stopped by this seafood eatery on Sunday because we heard great things about the gumbo and crab legs. When we arrived, the streets were booming, sidewalks littered with people, music and culture. When we arrived there was a security guard outside only allow 2-3 ppl inside. Not sure if this is typical protocol but it was hot and we stood outside for about 30-40 mins waiting to enter. Once we got inside, the store was completely dark, when we asked staff about the lights and how we couldn't see the menu, one member shrugged her shoulders and said "power outage". Based on demeanor, I can tell it's happened before and not a big deal. We were told it was out for 3 hours and caused some worry because of health codes, refrigeration, heating and dealing with seafood, that's an issue. With all that considered, We ordered gumbo, crab legs, ooey gooey cake, and boudin balls. The crab legs were the star of the show as they were flavored and good. The gumbo was burnt. The roux taste like we got the scrapings from the bottom of the pot, but the burnt gumbo was no good at all. The boudin was not as crispy as I would like and filling was quite bland. The cake was just that, an under cooked strawberry cake with no distinctive Flavors of strawberry at all. Not sure if this was an off day, but it didn't live up to the hype.

Cajuns is always on the list when visiting NOLA. Being that I went to college in New Orleans Cajuns was our go to during those collegiate years. The food is always great, boiled seafood or fried it's all good. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for some fresh seafood.

Hidden gem of NOLA if you love seafood. Reasonably priced and there are often specials. We got a pound of crawfish for $6.99! Huge boiled shrimp with heads on were $9.99. Everything was so fresh and perfectly spiced. Parking can be tough, but park across the street under the bridge.

Service was great and the food was delicious. I recommend the DD Smoked Sausage! To change up your order I also recommend the chicken wings as an addition to your mud bugs!

Ask the Community - Cajun Seafood

My family plans to visit NOLA in August. Would there be any crawfish left (fresh or frozen) and price please? Thank you so much for your help!

They will be out of season So they probly will not have any but you can always try

Do the boil bags come with some type of seasoning/sauce?

No additional seasoning outside of how the meal was cooked but the food is well seasoned in advance.

What time does this place open?

10:30/11

Are they open on Mardi Gras?

Yes hellllllla busy thoo

Does crawfish still fresh and in season? How was the frozen cf?

It's in season from March to June. They will keep some frozen ones in stock, but I don't find it to be as good.

No problems w N7 - thank you. Server and Som were great - friendly, knew the menu (food and wine) inside and out, giving great suggestions. The food timing was just right for our large party given how many items ordered (on a very busy night). Our sommelier picked perfect pairings. As a table we order probably 12 different dishes +desert to share (this is way to go imo) and each was amazing in its own way. Unique sweet savory salty combos and great presentations. I am not going to go into details as it has been covered in photos and other reviews. The outside ambience was perfect with heat lamps - on a chilly night no one needed a coat. The lighting was soft/perfect and once you entered into the wooden door you are transported into a different world. I would recommend this for family, business meeting or date night. The prices were very reasonable for the service, ambiance and amazing food. We all were just thrilled with N7 / just make the reservation and be prepared for a great night!

We had the smallest table - it was hard to fit multiple dishes including drinks on it. The flies were everywhere. The outside is super stinking cute. Also our server was lacking. I would've ordered more drinks but he was too slow. The only things I would order again were the shrimp (royal reds) and the crème brûlée.

I started with the pig ears and had the fried chicken as my entrée, while my colleague chose the vegetarian option. You can find pig ears in Honolulu, but not prepared in this culinary style -- it was a creative and flavorful starter. The fried chicken was perfectly juicy and well-seasoned, and the honey butter added a delightful balance of savory and tangy sweetness. The ambiance was classy yet calm, making it ideal for both conversation and a relaxed dining experience. We also enjoyed lemon drop martinis with dinner -- crisp, refreshing, and the perfect complement to our meals. Overall, I would highly recommend this spot if you're looking to enjoy a refined and memorable dinner in New Orleans.

She was a bit chatty but still nice. The menu wasn't extensive at all. The waitress did a good job at selling many of the menu options. I initially had the chicken with carrots and brussel sprouts. The vegetables were perfectly cooked and flavored well. The chicken however was very dry. When the waitress asked how it was, I told her how dry it was and she immediately bright me something else, which was the fish and chips. The fish was hot, crispy, and cooked to perfection. It was tender, however it lacked flavor and seasoning. I asked for hot sauce but never received it. I finally decided to ask for a to go box to take the remaining piece home. The chips "fries" were great. They were freshly cut real potato fries. They were hot and seasoned well. My significant other had the shrimp and grits which he thoroughly enjoyed. As an appetizer we had the salad. Seemed simple and basic enough but was actually very good. I'm unsure of the dressing it was tossed in but it was just enough and well flavored. We skipped on dessert. We considered the cookie plate but since nobody could tell us what kind of cookies they were, so we decided to pass. The best part about our dining experience was the ambiance. The music was nice and the decor was vibrant and swanky . I also had a mocktail flavored with pineapple, jalapeno, lime, mint, and cilantro. It was refreshing. I'm glad we had a chance to check it out before closing but I can honestly say there was no "WOW" factor and likely I wouldn't have been in a hurry to come back.

But this was my first visit to "the mother ship", housed in a historic century-old building. I decided to start with the Fried Gulf Oysters - Sofrito Purée, Chowchow & Pickled Sweet Peppers, and was glad I did. There's no shortage of oyster dishes in NOLA, and this was a big winner. Next up, when in the South, why not order Fried Green Tomatoes - Burrata, Country Ham & Oregano? Another terrific plate, perhaps the best FGT dish I've had! Finally, my "target dish" arrived, the Shrimp & Okra Gumbo with Andouille, Collard Greens & Popcorn Rice. Really, really good. Very dark roux, as I like, and with plenty of seafood flavor, but more depth as well. Definitely one of the best gumbos I've ever enjoyed. All the accompaniments had all the flavor and were good. Especially the schnitzel noodles. The chocolate tart was a miss. Not like a Twix as someone mentioned. Almost impossible to stick your spoon through and I work out. Seriously shouldn't have to struggle that much. Needs a more flavorful crust, less caramel and more chocolate. They should rename this to caramel tart. The bday ice cream was fantastic and probably saved them from a 3 star review from me so I didn't have to leave on a negative note. But that on top of the emptiness makes sense with the location, hotel, day and time. Pam took care of us and was a joy as our server. She knew the menu very well and was able to answer all our questions on top of being helpful and productive throughout our visit. We had the skirt steak and king Salmon with a side of fries and stuffed potatoes. The skirt steak was cooked to medium and it was amazingg! Pam asked how I'd like it cooked and suggested it to be cooked at medium rare. I couldn't do that since I'm barely starting to get used to my steaks being cooked at medium, but it was still absolutely delicious. The sauce that was glazed on top, as well as the seasoning of the steak killed it!! The salmon was also delicious. Very flavorful. The stuffed potatoes were ok, we liked their side of fries more than that. Drinks were tasty and refreshing. Worth the price. We also got dessert, a chocolate cake and apple pie. I wasn't expecting to like the apple pie, but wow was that good! And the chocolate cake isn't just any boring cake. Once you break the cake, a chocolaty liquid melts out onto your plate, it was perfection. The restaurant itself is beautiful. In spite of the Yelp ratings, that should have been a huge red flag. Ordered the Old Fashioned from the menu that was very good. Tried to find a bottle of Cabernet for under $150. There were none and only one cab by the glass at $30, so we opted for that (that same bottle sold for $165...math doesn't add up). The menu does not have a lot of variety. No garden salad, so I started with the gumbo. It was good, but would have been better with some bread. We each ordered the ribeye medium with a side of mushrooms and a twice baked potato. The sides were excellent, but the steak was over cooked. To make matters worse, our server was not paying attention so I had to ask another to have our server or a manager come over. The manager came by and promptly took both steaks away to have them remade and comped us another glass of wine. Nice gesture. However, the second steaks were no better than the first. I asked the manager if he really considered what we were looking at to be medium. He assured me it was and held the table light by the steak so I could see it better. You can see by the picture of the second steaks that it was not cooked right either. When the check came, they comped one of the steaks, but not both. Not sure what their logic was, as neither of us ate much of either. Told the server the same and Mr. Manager came back over with both comped. Apparently they were trying to get every red cent out of the few people in the joint!
