FAMOUS??? That's LAUGHABLE. I just got off of a plane, checked into my hotel and was hungry. Went against my better judgement as there was only a couple in there eating. Approach the counter, an unmotivated person sort of helped me. Gave me a number for a to go order. Got back to my hotel. Catfish. Fries. Jambalaya. NO napkins. NO spoon or fork. FAMOUS??? For what? Your catfish LACKS flavor. Your jambalaya is DRY and NO napkins or utensils. Y'all must be famous only in New Orleans. SAVE your $$$. There has to be something better than this! They have half as many ONE star reviews to their five star reviews. Can we all be wrong? I don't think so.
I found this place to be fine. Compared to other chicken spots, I personally prefer Popeyes. We had no trouble ordering and food came out quick for a group of around 6 people. It was blistering hot/inedible. We had to let it cool before eating. They also allow you one sauce with your meal for free and I'd recommend trying the Willie's sauce cause why not. I like the chicken though it could use more flavor but at least it tastes fresh. The fries are seasoned nicely and have a little crispness to it. I just wish the meals included more fries. We came here twice since they're open late, inexpensive, and close to where we were staying. It's just a fast food joint so don't over expect. Seating is available indoors and outdoors. This establishment feels clean but for some reason with the chaos of the decor and the type of cuisine they're serving, it's probably not immaculate.
Willie's was my first stop once I touched down in New Orleans. It was super convenient because it's right in the middle of Canal street. The music was on okay?! Playlist was good, and the artwork is beautiful! So the vibes are definitely there. The food came out hot and fresh although it did take a little minute. The fries were nice and crispy and the chicken was really good with that Louisiana hot sauce on it! My niece was tearing it up and you know kids don't lie! I also got the red beans and rice which was a huge portion! 4 stars only because I'm a biscuit gyalllll and the biscuit was a bit dry for my liking. Definitely check em out!
Better than most other fried food chains, as the seasoning is strong here and there are lots of sauce options. I really enjoyed the biscuit in my shrimp combo meal, as it was more like a muffin top in shape and was sweet with honey toppinh, not too bready. The six pieces of shrimp were not the freshest but didn't taste bad, and the fries were well seadoned. The frozen mango marg was overpriced but did have the expected amount of booze. Enjoyed the sassy, Cardiff B heavy beats, which felt on point with the overall vibe here.
3.5 Willie's Chicken is everywhere in New Orlean! Seriously it feels like there's one on every corner. This was my second time having Willie's , but my first time at this location, and it did what it needed to do. Is Popeyes a better option? Yes but this place isn't too bad. The fried chicken is decent and well-seasoned, though a little salty. Pair it with the biscuit and fries and you're good. The real star for me is the red beans and rice -- absolutely amazing. Super flavorful, perfectly blended with the sausage, and a must-order every time. The honey butter biscuit is another standout. The vibe is very NOLA with fun décor, good music, and flat-screen TVs in the back near the high-top tables. Customer service was friendly, and yes -- try the daiquiris. They're good. There is a noticeable homeless presence in the area, but they didn't bother anyone and I never felt unsafe. Bathrooms are for customers only & you'll need a code to enter.
Stopped in at Willie's on the walk back to the hotel. They allow you to sample the daquiris. The Mrs was very pleased with her selection. We also ordered food. Service was slow. But I understand it was cooked to order and fresh. However there was no excuse for them simply ignoring a request for mustard. We asked the cashier. The cashier told the folks in the kitchen. And the kitchen folks simply didn't move. We got the seafood platter. The catfish pieces were small but had good flavor. The shrimp had no flavor.
Willie's service was cool, and the inside was so captivating! I'm a little mad at myself because I needed food and was way too tired to look for a spot. I had gone half a day without eating, and this was the first place I saw, so I figured I'd grab something small haha. I ended up going with the gumbo and didn't realize Creole House was right next door, but that's okay for next time because the gumbo here wasn't bad at all, so I still enjoyed it! I will say, for the portion size, the price felt a little high! I think I spent $16-17 on it and maybe I could've tried somewhere different, but when hunger strikes, you make these decisions lol. Not saying it was a bad choice though, because I genuinely enjoyed it! Again, everything inside is so visually appealing. I love all the signs and decor. I would've loved to try the chicken and fries, but I was trying to save room to eat more food later.
We stumbled across Willie's Chicken Shack while at the casino because we saw another couple with to go containers from there and I asked them where we could get the food after midnight. It ended up being about 5 minutes away down Canal Street. We ordered food to go late Thursday (really Friday morning) after 1 AM. Upon arrival, there was a wait to order. At least ten people were ahead of me with the same idea in mind. Immediately, I was in awe of the flashy signage and decor promoting the fresh hot chicken and daquiris. I ordered the Tito's Blue Raspberry drink and two orders of tenders and fries with a roll). We ate the food back at our hotel room (which was a ten minute or less walk away), and the chicken was still piping hot and crispy when we got to the lobby dining area. The flavors were on point and the portion was big enough to save some for another day! The drink was great! It was refreshing and sweet. I do feel like it was an expensive meal, but it did the trick that late at night. I would come back again.
Some of THE BEST chicken strips from a fast food restaurant ever. Or maybe ever completely! Definitely give Willie's a try, it's a NOLA classic. Fresh juicy tenders and amazing biscuit. One of the best biscuits I've had too. They also have frozen drinks!! Yum!!
Theyre open until 2am which is great when you want a midnight snack!! It's located right in the center of the french quarter, down the street from Caesars Casino. Tenders- 3/5 basic tenders, thick and semi dry. Wings- 6/5 would eat this again and again, so crispy, juicy, and flavor packed- tasted super delicious with their honey mustard. Fries- 2/5 would not order again, soggy and tasted bland Ambiance- 4/5 music is always blasting, vibe is chill and their door is always open for a nice spacious feel; theres only a few tables and a large margarita bar
Great fried chicken but it's pretty pricey. Chicken is hot, fresh and crispy and well seasoned. Biscuits are fresh, soft and lathered in honey. The Daquiri is the star of the show as you can mix and match flavors and boy are they sweet and strong. I paid $35 for a 6 piece and a souvenir drink. Staff were nice but not over welcoming. The space is open and has a lot of seating indoor and outdoor. While the food was great, i definitely can find another place for a cheaper price but it's worth the experience for those visiting and on vacation.
Willie's is a NOLA classic. I wasn't in the mood for sides. I just wanted chicken, so I got the six-piece wings. They were yummy and filling. The roll with the honey glaze was just okay. This is a counter order place but they do bring your food to you. I got my wings pretty quickly. It feels like fast food without tasting like fast food. The restaurant is open air, which means the occasional pigeon visits. My wings were breaded and seasoned perfectly. They were crispy. I recommend if you're hungry for good fried chicken in NOLA.

Willie's Chicken Shack - New Orleans If you've walked through the French Quarter, you've seen Willie's. It's everywhere. The formula is simple: fried chicken, frozen daiquiris, neon lights, and hungry tourists. Like Voodoo, you can't order individual pieces of chicken. Meals start at $13.99 for a 2-piece dark meat combo or $14.99 for a 2-piece white meat combo, both served with fries and a biscuit. The chicken arrived fresh, hot, and crispy. The crunch was definitely there, and everything tasted like it had just come out of the fryer. The problem wasn't texture--it was flavor. The seasoning felt pretty light, leaving the chicken tasting a little plain compared to some of the better fried chicken options around town. The biggest comparison is against Voodoo Chicken & Daiquiris. Both have nearly identical menus and concepts, but Voodoo gets the edge for me. Their cross-cut fries are better, the atmosphere is more unique, and the chicken had a little more flavor overall. That doesn't mean Willie's is bad. If you're exploring the Quarter and need a quick fried chicken fix, it'll absolutely get the job done. It just didn't stand out in a city loaded with incredible fried chicken. As for the daiquiris, I didn't try them. Frozen sugary cocktails aren't really my thing, so this review is strictly about the food. Worth ordering: 2-piece chicken meal if you're hungry and nearby. Best part: Fresh, hot chicken with a solid crunch. Needs improvement: More seasoning and flavor in the breading. Compared to Voodoo: Slightly behind in both food and atmosphere. Overall: A decent French Quarter fried chicken stop, but not one I'd go out of my way to revisit when there are stronger options nearby. read more

I was told I just had to try Willie's! I would have been okay missing this spot. We ordered the mixed 4 piece meal. It was crispy fried chicken! But there was nothing about it that made it a must stop and eat here for me. The biscuit was very sweet and delicious. The staff wasn't very friendly. I asked for a cup of water. They said no. So I ordered a Diet Coke and asked for a cup to pour it in, that was also a problem. I'll skip this place next time. read more
One of the Willie's we visited while in NOLA. Some of them offer chicken, others are more focused on pizza, depends which one you walk into a Willies. They of course of the versions of alcoholic drinks you can see on a menu out on Bourbon or Canal. The service is as expected: order at the counter, take a number, they bring it out to where youre sitting. read more

Flavorful chicken tenders made with real chicken. Great seasoning with great crunch and still juicy inside. Probably the best biscuit I've had in 10 years and the fries were amazing. KFC got nothing in this. read more

Ordered a 2pc. white (breast & whole wing), which was served with fries and a honey glazed biscuit. The price definitely went up from the last time I was here. The biscuit got smaller and there's no special sauce. I was sad, but the food is still good. The chicken was crispy and juicy. The biscuit was a good balance of salty and sweet. The only sauce that was there was ketchup, honey mustard, and hot sauce. Service was quick. You order at the counter, they give you a number, and they hand you your food. It looks like there aren't a lot of seats, but if you walk towards the back, there are plenty. read more

Came here for the first time with my family. We ordered the Krispy Wings, 3-Piece Cajun Tenders, and the Seafood Platter. The batter on the chicken and catfish were very flavorful. The shrimp, not so much, I needed to rely on the sauces to enjoy my shrimp. Overall, all the meats were a decent size, very crispy, and enjoyable. The biscuit was ok, very crumby and light on the honey. We also ordered the Mango daiquiri and the Hurricane Mix daiquiri. Both were very flavorful, but the Hurricane was probably the best one. The staff are fast and friendly. Food does take a little while to come, but that's because they don't make it until you order it so it comes out crazy hot. The restaurant has a clean restroom that requires a code to get in. The surrounding areas can get a little crazy because you got drunk people coming in trying to use the restroom, then asking you if you know the code to get in lol. read more

Another night in NOLA which means it's time to try a new food spot. Earlier today I was over on Canal and passed by Willie's. The smell itself drew me in and I decided at that moment that I was coming back. LoL!!!! Willie's sits right on the strip so it's super easy to find. The front was totally open and there were a few tables outside on the sidewalk. As the strip is super active, sitting outside would be dope if you wanted to people watch. LoL. Walking up to the counter, each register had a cashier so the line was running smoothly. Taking a moment to review the menu, it was as one would anticipate; simple, straightforward, and one dimensional. The highlight of Willie's definitely appears to be the Daiquiri' as there are many options. I decided on the 3pc Cajun Tender Combo which comes with Fries and a Honey Biscuit. I also added a side of Red Beans and Rice. I mean, it is NOLA so I had to do it. I placed my order. Received my number. And took a seat to await my order. The restaurant was clean and vibrant. The yellow and red throughout the restaurant really set an upbeat tone that pairs well with the neon lights and vibrant colors of the Daiquiris. Once my order was ready, it was delivered to the table and I was good to go. Let's talk the Food: Biscuit - Simple. Buttery. Crunchy around the bottom edges. Soft in the middle. Nothing special to note. Reminds me of a biscuit from Church's. I'll say 7/10. Tenders - Big. Juicy. Crunchy on the outside. Well seasoned. That's it. That's all I got. . I'll say 5/10. Fries - Well Seasoned. Crunchy. I'll say 7/10. Red Beans and Rice - Now hear me out. I love a good RB&R and these were good. There were way more beans than there was rice, which is ideal for this kind of dish. They weren't too spicy. They were flavored well and the beans were tender. You can definitely tell they were slow simmered. I'll say 8/10. Now... hear me out! The food wasn't bad but for $25.00, chileeeeeeeeeeee. No ma'am, No sir. Lemme go to the chicken spot for half the price. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I won't maybe go again if I want a lil piece of a tender. But at $13 for the Combo and $8 for the RB&R... imma need a coupon or something. Ok, Ok. In all seriousness, if you're in the area, go for the experience. *P. S. I got the Cajun tender meal, and I'm not joking, these are some of the BEST chicken tenders I've ever had. They have the smallest amount of kick, the flavor is perfect, and they were tender and juicy. That honey biscuit was moist and soft, and the honey and butter weren't overpowering. The meal also came with some sort of creamy orange sauce, which complemented it all perfectly. They have a large selection of frozen alcohol drinks and New Orleans is open container, so they're perfect for walking around a hot summer day. I got the hurricane which was fruit punch flavored, and it was strong and had the right consistency. It's definitely a casual place, and the decor is fun! read more

Fresh food, piping hot. Not overly seasoned. Wasn't a fan of the fries, but the shrimp and catfish was good. Service was quick and fast. You can't use the bathroom without the combination. They print the combination on the bottom of the receipt. They also have daiquiris as well. Ambiance was fine for a fast food spot on Canal street. It was bright with plenty of seating. Asked for Jambalaya and it definitely tasted like dirty rice. read more

First time going to Willie's Chicken Shack, and it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. I feel like you could get that same chicken and fries anywhere. Food: I ordered the chicken tenders, which is my fault because we all know the flavor is in the bone of the chicken. However, the flavor wasn't anything I haven't had in other states. it's pretty average. It was juicy, and the portions were big. The fries are a little soggy, but they have flavor. I wish they gave you more fries considering how big the box is when you get your food. All in all, it wasn't bad. They also have a large variety of frozen Daquaris with so many flavors. Price: The prices are good about $12-$17 for a combo meal. I wasn't mad at the price, especially after seeing the size of the chicken. In comparison to the surrounding food places, Willie's is a little on the high side, seeing how you can get really good New Orleans food for around the same price. Atmosphere: Willie's is a seated restaurant. However, it seems like most of their business is order to go, which means the restaurant looks empty. With saying that there is a lot of foot traffic coming in and out. It's a really cool looking space, and the decor is unique to the brand that I love. Service: The staff was great they stayed next to the ordering station and waited patiently for customers to figure out what they wanted. They paid attention to everyone in the restaurant and was nice when taking orders. They did great. The cook would walk the orders out to the guest if they took too long and apologized for the long wait, but for the most part, they did great. Location: They have many locations. Great jambalaya! Wanted to try the red beans and rice and chicken but it was all sold out. They also have a pizza and wings place next door. Very festive interior with cool things and prints pasted all over the walls. Wide selection of daiquiris also available. Service was also very quick. Definitely recommended! read more

Listen! When I tell you, I probably eater hear about 5 to 7 times and I have never had a support experience! Every single time chicken is fresh, it's on point fries are fresh, Customer Service never lacking, the restaurants always clean! If you like fried chicken, please try willies you won't be disappointed! And they have some really really good daiquiris that's pretty darn strong, ! read more
