Our pilot was Lucien who was very experienced and made everyone feel safe and welcome onboard. He was extremely experienced and we could tell he enjoyed what he was doing and took his job seriously while still being fun. We could not have asked for a better pilot (except for his wife). The land crew, Tristan and Sophie were awesome. Extremely friendly and made us feel special and important. After our experience we can understand why TEMSCO is the oldest, best and reputable company in Alaska. They should also be commended for the services they provide to the governmental agencies that care for Denali and other groups to help support the local community.

First things first - Alaska has been a bucket list item for a while. Adding a heli ride to land on…read morea glacier? Holy smokes. So, keep in mind this is the baseline for this review. Anyone is already bound to be happy with having an opportunity to, one, be in Alaska, and two, book an excursion for a heli ride to see a glacier, up close and personal. Temsco exceeded our expectations. With two pilots in the family, we looked at things with maybe a bit more of a discerning eye. All that said, we were a party of four and man, this was such a magical treat. Temsco isn't new to flying but their Denali location is a new addition. Our adventure started off with a personalized van pick up and ride to the business / helo pad. We sat for a safety briefing and were fitted for boots. The small but mighty team was fabulous. They explained what to expect, how things would go and then executed flawlessly. My guy is afraid of heights and doesn't like to be in "tin cans" as he calls small planes. The helicopter was such a different experience for him. You can see most everything and have great views outdoors, even from the backseat. This was the game changer for him. It's way easier to feel more in control with this expanded visibility. And, that aside, the views were magical. This was definitely a trip worth every penny and one that you won't ever forget. We saw wildlife, drank from an arctic stream, had a snowball fight and saw Mt. Denali from the clouds. Wow. Our pilot was incredibly friendly (Flo, a young guy from Germany) but also very laid back, a very skilled pilot and offered commentary as we flew - pointing out Dall sheep several times on the mountain sides. He was fabulous. I could go on and on. Check out the pics, make a plan and def include this once in a lifetime excursion in them. You won't regret it. Ever!

Love to explore locally and experience things that aren't the norm. The building was built on a hill I think and the building has changed with movement over the years. It definitely wasn't a perfectly straight building and it felt uneven walking through it but that was all in the character and uniqueness of it. I didn't try the salmon.

Being the cheapos that we are, we stayed at the economy ones. Their economy cabins were basically foam insulated tent-like cabins that look like a tent from the outside, but are finished like cabins on the inside with painted wood walls, screened windows, electric heat and lights. There were 2 double beds complete with linens, blankets and towels inside. And then the bathroom facilities are shared with the other economy cabins. What was kinda creepy though was that there were locks on all of the cabins from the outside... So if you were inside and you left your lock outside or if someone else came by with their own lock, well - watch out! ;) No such prank occurred in our group, luckily! Since they only have 12 of these suckers, make reservations! Also, they have a free shuttle which takes you to Denali's visitor center. Very convenient for spending your days at the park. And awesome on the wallet.

It could be great, and looks like it has been freshly remodeled recently. A very worthwhile point…read moreis that the location is off the beaten track it's really very pleasantly tucked into the side of the hill with lots of woods around it. This ain't no princess cruise lodge! Reservations, and accommodating the guest need some work. We had to change our plans by one day over two months ago, almost immediately after making the first reservation, within 24 hours. Check out time is 11, check in time is four. We had to pay $25 extra to be able to stay in our first room until one. Guess we will find other things to do until we can move back into our second room at 4 PM Since we had over two months before check in, when plans change by one day, I called repeatedly and emailed looking to see if we could stay in the same room for both nights. Every time the answer was no. Unfortunately, I have a feeling with all these rooms that they have, there was a room that had a two night window in the last two months it became available, yet no one reached out. I reached out to the manager, Sue by email one month before our revival, one week before our arrival, and the day before our arrival with no success on relief from having to change rooms. We also ordered a romantic edition, which was a bottle of wine with a charcuterie tray. We had to remind them of this when we got to the desk, and a warm bottle of white wine and a prepackaged charcuterie. Kit were provided after we entered our room. Don't get me wrong, this is a nice place to be located at, yet remember is far up the hillside and any movement from your room requires stairs, and/or steep roads to the restaurant, the check-in desk, or the main drag in Denali/"GlittercGulch, where all the other hotels are. This became an issue due to my traveling partners new onset auto immune knee condition that appeared about a month and a half ago, and movement in the area is not very easily done if your knees are Inflamed. Just check out the picture of the stairs that I posted, and multiply that by five or six that are between each row of cabins. The staff is very nice, mostly summertime help, or likely on work visa as most work from other countries than the United States to include Jamaica, Macedonia, I am the Dominican Republic. Many of them have not even ventured out of the immediate area and enjoyed any of the local attractions when questioned about the best food, activities, and other possibilities. Denali national park is the highlight so far, and we will be doing some river rafting this afternoon and will report back on that. The other thing is that previous reports about the overlook restaurant seemed to be stellar, although it was closed last year and a Mexican restaurant has been opened with, but looks to be a very limited menu. As things changed quickly, I will verify all I said at this time, I see efforts to improve the grounds being Made, and can change in a short amount of time. Also, if you want a shuttle to Healy for the brewery it has great food, you need to arrange that separately. we used a tour company that goes by the same name as the town and the mountain, and they were very accommodating. There was only two of us going up to Healy and coming back. More to follow after the second night. Update! Right after sending in review, front desk called and stated that our new room number 501 was ready for us now. We asked to have our bags brought up, and a representative came up to give us our new key and our bags are down at the old room. Here is a view from the new room, 501 and its comparison to the Dall suite, # 408. So the second set of pictures are of our new room, watch out when going into the toilet and shower, the door hits the toilet and you have to go around it before closing the door behind you so you can access the toilet. All in all, this is a beautiful site with some formidable obstacles if you need easy accessibility or need to be accommodated in any way. The value is good, and my recommendation is to bring a vehicle, or maybe a golf cart, or maybe a power chair. I give it a strong 3/5!

Shuttle drivers were great driving the antiquated low visibility vans. If you are lucky to get lower, very nice setting. Staff were very helpful and tried to help when they could . Wouldn't have minded all these problems if it were $ 187 per nite. BUT. Just don't think we got a good value for $487 per nite.
