Can't believe some of these negative reviews! My husband and I have been coming to Murph's for breakfast ever since we moved to the area and have never been disappointed. In my experience, the service has been friendly and efficient, the prices are reasonable, and the portions are incredibly generous. I tend to order either a skillet or eggs Benedict, and the only disappointment there is that yes, the veggies are frozen. So now I don't order veggie dishes. That's it. Still so much on the menu to stuff yourself with. We've learned that if you're coming on Sunday, it's best to come before 10 a.m., especially if you have 4 or more people in your party. It's a small place so seating and parking can get competitive. They do a really good job of taking people in they order they arrive as seats become available, but I've seen the line backed out the door before. Also remember it's a cash-only joint, so bring bills! There is an ATM on site if you need one. If you're in the area, give Murph's a chance! You won't be disappointed (and you'll be so full that they may have to roll you out of there). read more

We got our check and tried to pay with a credit card, but they don't accept credit cards. Although the service is friendly and efficient., I am disappointed with their Brady special which include steak tips,eggs, home fries and pancakes. I asked for the steak to be well done. To my disappointment it came out burnt and hard to chew. They required a good dousing A1 sauce. Healthy options are extremely limited too. Had a chance to revisit Murph's Place in Norwood and had a wonderful experience. They are doing their best there in these challenging times. My breakfast was great, although my steak was a little undercooked. It was seasoned perfectly and my french toast was perfect. The service is great here and the two times I have been here I left happy and satisfied. My partner was also pleased and vowed she would be back with her mother. Thank you Murph's!! read more

Murph's is very consistent. The steak tips are to die for, whatever they marinade the steak in they should bottle mad sell as murph's special marinade. The eggs are always cooked perfectly and if you would like a great waffle Murph's is the spot and the deal breaker for me.... coffee! Went here on a Friday morning while waiting for my husband who was having surgery at the neighboring hospital. The restaurant was fairly empty. I sat for 15 minutes without receiving a menu or even a "hello". Staff very unfriendly, and definitely cater to the regulars. I recently ventured in with a group of friends in search of typical diner food (eggs - toast - grease: great when you have a wee bit of a hangover). This is a TINY place in a stripmall-esque location (there's Murph's, a liquor store, and some other storefront), but parking was a cinch. Our breakfast club lingered for a while (and was never encouraged to move along - thanks, Murph's staff!); I made the following notes on my napkin: *Be prepared to wait a while on the weekends - the line was out the door when we arrived, but the wait wasn't terrible and the meal was worth it. *Def a family place (which is great if you have a family, not so much if you're light/sound sensitive from acting a little childish the night before). Very clean (thank God there was no syrup residue from our table's previous mini-patrons). *Our waitress was great - helped me narrow down my menu selection and didn't ask questions when I ordered a cup of coffee, a glass of OJ, and a cup of water in one swoop. *I ordered the blueberry pancakes, which were buttermilky and delicious. One of my friends let me steal some home-fries off of his plate - YUM! Little golden nuggets of medicine for my stomach. Group consensus: eggs, bacon, pancakes, home-fries - - - all scrumptious. I think that you can also place an order for pick-up. *CASH ONLY! - good thing I randomly had a few bills in my wallet... My wife loves the corn beef and hash. And my favorite is the steak tips and eggs benedict. This is the best hangover breakfast. They do it right at Murph's. Easily the best breakfast place in the area. Food is great and the portions are large. I'm a big fan of bacon and they have the tastiest. I've always had great service, particularly Kathy. A lot of sweet women work there. It can get busy on the weekends so larger group might want to call ahead. As other reviewers have said, the home fries are too large and mushy. The servers are very quick to refill your coffee, but they aren't overly friendly. The acoustics are terrible! I have eaten at Murph's Place dozens and dozens of times and always had great food and service. Best breakfast place around. Today I was there with my daughter and I ordered the "Red Sox" french toast. Basically french toast with fresh strawberry and blueberries on top. I asked for a side of sausage. When my meal came the sausage looked a little shriveled. I put butter on the french toast (which didn't melt as it should have if the food was hot) and took a bite of the sausage which was cold as ice, then took a bite of the french toast which was also ice cold. I called the waitress over who apologized and took my plate away. Several minutes later she brings the same plate back, obviously the only thing that was done was that they had just put it into the microwave. The sausage with the bite taken out of was still on the plate, the fresh fruit was now microwaved and soggy. Super disappointed! read more

The hub and I were house sitting for a friend for the weekend. Since we're not locals we decided to look up some breakfast places fill our craving for a sit in breakfast fill. After 15 minutes of googling local breakfast joints, reading reviews and looking at appealing pictures. We decided to try murphs. More so since it was only 10 mins away from us, Woot! We walked into the entrance and were greeted by the scent of sweet vanilla mmmm. We stood there once we were fully inside to take in the place and it was definitely bustling, with a few tables empty. We made eye contact with one of the waitresses that were cleaning and asked if we could grab an open table. She nodded yes. When we sat down it took us 5-10 minutes for us to be seen by a waitress (pretty short wait time!) , the waitress was pleasant and had a nice smile . She didn't hassle us with the reoccurring "all you guys ready to order?" Every 3 minutes which we liked since it makes us feel pressured when they do. I ordered the "Norwood breakfast" which comes with 2 eggs of your choice, french toast or pancakes, and bacon and sausgae. But i just doubled up on the bacon and added a bagel on the side. the hub ordered " sirloin tips and eggs" which comes with 2 eggs, home fries and an English muffin. He chose medium sirloin tips and they were pretty darn tasty ! Took us 15 mins to get our order so not long. They tasted even better than it looked although the French toast was lacking in flavor. But I'll live. The hub loved their sirlion tips! I tried some and i had to agree they were soooo good.would definitely go here again more due to their portions! What a bang for your buck! read more

Went on a recommendation from the hotel. First cup of coffee was great. Second tasted old and bitter. Ordered an omelet spinach and feta after confirming that the spinach was fresh. Spinach tasted and looked like frozen. When I asked the waitress she was unsure if it was fresh and didn't go check. Bacon not crispy and sausage was good but cold. The English muffin was not a real English muffin but a generic one not as good. Service was very good and everyone was friendly. Home fries were homemade and cooked great except a few potatoes were cold. If they used real English muffins, fresh spinach and cooked everything to order to avoid cold food my rating would be 4 star. read more

I love Murph's place like a camel loves hump day. If you want a mind blowing culinary experience, get the Steak Tip Benedict. Not for the faint of heart, but if you're hungry then strap yourself in. The steak tips are heavily marinated in what I can only call gods elixir, and always a hefty portion atop your poached eggs and English muffins. Used to go here all the time, but I think 50"s Diner is better and more consistant. I literally had the worst omelet ever put in front of me last time I was there. I was so hungry I could have eaten a tire, but I could not stomach that omelet. There's no good breakfast spot in Westwood, and there's no other place that serves Spuds & Scrams. It's a halved, crispy potato with scrambled eggs, cheese and bacon, served on a skillet-like plate. What more could you need? Add coffee and put some jelly on an English muffin, and you're covering all the main breakfast food groups! (meat, potato, bread & fruit) If there's a better hangover meal, I've yet to find it. Oh, sure, Murph's serves omelettes too - my Dad gets the western with cheese, which is my standard breakfast order anywhere else, but here I've got to get the signature Spuds & Scrams. I've honestly never liked this place but I come because my boyfriend likes it. The service is mediocre and the food is less than. Today will be the last time, I ordered a salad because I figured "how can you screw up a salad?" Well they succeeded when they served me a half RAW CHICKEN breast the sortiest excuse for a Greek salad I've ever had, they don't even serve it with a pita they serve it with a flour tortilla like just don't serve it with anything. I should have known better when I saw they didn't even have Caesar salad that they couldn't make a salad. Everything here lacks flavor including their house balsamic vinaigrette. After being served undercooked chicken at this establishment I will never go back and I'll make sure none of my friends do either they clearly don't care very much about the good they're serving or the guests they are serving it to! read more

Worst breakfast I have ever had. Veggie omelet was swimming in water from the uncooked frozen vegetables. Asked for a second plate to pour off the water. When the waitress asked if I wanted a box to take home the food, I told her it was not even edible, that the veggies weren't sauteed or even cooked. She said yeah when my sister orders that omelet, I have the chef cook the veggies first. Are you kidding me, the know there is a problem but only certain people can have them cooked. No offer to get us something else, or even to compensate for the fact that 2 breakfasts with the exception of the toast were even eaten. We decided to give Murph's place a try while in town because of the positive reviews-- big mistake. The pancakes were practically as thin as a piece of paper, the coffee was horribly bitter, the home fries were burnt, and my omelet had a hair in -- YUM. In addition, it is pretty obvious that they just refill the hungry jack syrup bottle time and time again as the label was filthy and faded. Would it really be that difficult to buy inexpensive containers that can be washed and refilled which would be a bit more appealing to the diner? The container sitting in the middle of the table with the jelly was filthy. And to top it off, I counted 9 people working in this small restaurant, most of the ladies standing around doing nothing and yet it took forever to get our check. read more

Best breakfast place in the area.. no doubt! Home fries are my weakness and they do them perfectly, their Belgian waffles perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside. When you go in early for breakfast on weekdays it does tend to get busy but it is most definitely worth the wait! They also have a great menu for kids with grilled cheese and chicken fingers!
