I was after exactly what this car is: a 2015 Kia Soul, about 200,000 miles, listed at $3,988, to teach my teenager to drive in. Not a long-term car, just a good first beater, and I was happy to pay the advertised price for it. Cash buyer, aiming for a simple deal around $4,000 out the door. Asked about wiggle room. Salesman said he'd "knock off $1,000." I figured he misspoke and meant $100 or so, since a grand off a sub-$4,000 car was never realistic, and I was right to be skeptical: the price only dropped to $3,900, about $88 off. Then came a $998 "Murphy's Law Protection Package" that's pre-installed so you can't refuse it, plus an $899 doc fee. Out-the-door quote: about $5,100. Real NC title and tax on that car is around $200. A thousand-dollar package and a near-$900 fee on a 200,000-mile car is the part that didn't add up. The kicker: their own ad slide lists "Up Front Pricing" as the first thing they promise, on the same image that discloses the $998 add-on that isn't in the sticker price. Within 5 months, the car needs a whole new engine (over $7,000). We got two estimates (one from the manufacturer). When I called to inform them of the issue, the manager, Dan was rudest person I've ever encountered. I tried to remain very professional, but he intentionally escalated the situation, basically calling by mom dumb! Now they're stuck with $17k worth of car payments for a car they cannot drive. So I went back to Murphy's auto I will try my best to make this review short as I can. With in two weeks The car that Murphy's auto sold me was unsafe to drive. I was told To take the Vehicle to Their repair shop. Half of February all of March and half of April The car was in the shop. Now As of today, I have The vehicle because I paid to have it repaired. Chris, the manager told me I should be glad that Murphy's AUTO paid For some of the repairs. Which I had no idea. This car was unsafe and sold to me anyhow. I asked all the right questions I test drove the car within a short two weeks It was Unsafe to drive. As of now The vehicle is in the process of being repossessed. I could not keep up with Car insurance, and the Car Note And pay for the car to be To be fixed, while the car was in the shop. To get to my Part time job I took a taxi there. It was $60 a day getting back Forth to work.The car Did have a warranty. I am disabled it was a challenge getting to the doctors office getting my medication and getting groceries. OMG! What a GREAT group of people to work with!!! We just purchase our 2015 Acura from them yesterday and the experience we had was beyond phenomenal! Bill, Robbie, Quin and Harold treated both my husband and I with a great deal of respect and integrity! I will start off saying that the people at the dealership were professional. However, after I made a deposit on a used car and later changed my mind, they would return my deposit. There were no conversations or anything in writing indicating non-refundable deposit. The owner later told me he would return the deposit, minus approximately $1,700 he paid to put new tires on the car, which I did not ask for. The tires add value to his car, so why should I pay for them? Needless to say, it has been a major pain and I had to hire an attorney. Do not deal with this dealership. Not only did they screw us over a vehicle we purchased, but now that we have traded they are saying it will take 3 months to get the gap and warranty refunded. It did not tak three months for them to take our money. The vehicle purchase was wrecked. It was not disclosed to us. When I asked the general manager about it, he told me all the vehicles on the lot have a car fax online. Granted some do, but there are some online that do not. We also went straight to the dealer, and never looked online. It was up to the salespeople to inform us and they did not. Not only was the vehicle wrecked and not disclosed, but we were the 7th owner. That was not disclosed as well. We only knew about this when we traded the vehicle with a more reliable and honest dealer. I will never puchase from this company again, nor will I refer anyone to them. They are not honest. Customer service was very poor and in response to my post about poor customer service we received a threatening phone call instead of an apology and inquiry on how to remedy the situation. The two cars we made an appointment to see were not available when we arrived on time for our appointment. One had been sold the day before and one was being detailed. The detailed one later arrived for us to see but was not the one we had primarily inquired about - and which I had called to double check was still available prior to us coming. When we posted a review about the disappointing customer service (cars not available at appointment time and the sales person was unapologetic until my husband said "it would be nice to hear an apology after taking off work early to come see a car that it turns out you don't have available"), operations manager left me a message saying my review was "inaccurate" and when I called back to discuss, anticipating a calm conversation in which he would want to remedy the communication and perhaps keep our business (ie "we will keep our eyes open for the model you were looking for and maybe we can still get your business"), I was instead called a liar, as was my husband, and he threatened to sue me if I didn't take down my review. read more

I had a less than professional courteous experience. My wife made an appt at 4:15 to see a Honda Odyssey (the primary car we are looking for) and a Chrysler van. I left work early today to make it to the appt. When I arrived, my wife let me know that they had sold the Odyssey yesterday. We had made the appt over a day ago, and they even said that if we couldn't make it at 4:15 to let them know. On top of that, the Chrysler van was not ready for us to look at until after 4:30. At that time, there was no apology given. They had a full 24 hours to let us know they didn't have the van we wanted to see. Chris just said that he wasn't in the day before, and the computer was wrong. It wasn't until after I specifically asked him for an apology that he reluctantly gave me one. He didn't act apologetic at all. My wife then left a review of our experience. Then Brent called. I'm not sure of his exact title but I'm guessing he is management. He called my wife and told her that she was not telling the truth and that both Chris and the secretary apologized right away (which is not true). Then I talked to him and he told me that his secretary wouldn't lie because she was a Christian woman. He also said our primary vehicle we were interested in wasn't the Odyssey to begin with. That was also factually not accurate as we had already looked at one at another establishment, and have found several others since leaving Murphy. I handed the phone back to my wife, and in a short time, he said again that both of us were not telling the truth, and threatened her saying if she didn't take the review down, he was going to file a lawsuit against us. So, his way of making things right was to threaten my pregnant wife with a lawsuit. He then called me back later, and when I asked him if he threatened my wife with a law suit, he wouldn't give me a straight answer like yes. He did however explain that my wife's post was not true and he has 3 people as witnesses. That itself is not true, because there were never 3 employees of Murphy's talking to us at the same time. That's a pretty important fact when talking about lawsuits. Hearsay doesn't count. This is by far the worst customer service experience I have had in a long time, maybe ever. We then went over to Silver State Imports right next to them, and they were super friendly, and helpful. Do not trust your salesman after he gets your money. I Purchased a $9000 preowned car. The car had no floor mats. I was not going to spend $9000 on a vehicle without mats. My salesman agreed to get me new floor mats front and back. I picked up my car and there were no mats. He promised me he would get me the mats immediately. Several phone calls and text messages and a month later no mats. We are talking about $30 and less than an hour of time as I work five minutes from the dealership. Do not sign anything at this dealership unless you get everything promised to you before hand. The owner responded to my google review and agreed I shouldn't have taken a verbal agreement. Michael at Murphy Motor Co on Capital was a true blessing to David and I. The sales process was a breeze and closing was even better! Michael was very kind, funny, considerate and knowledgeable. Dave and I both were very impressed not only with the condition of the vehicles we looked at, but the lot itself is CLEAN, spacious and nicely organized. We were literally passing Murphy, headed to another dealer with check in hand, decided to stop in. 24 hours later, I'm driving off the lot with our new, immaculate Murano that's loaded with useful features, chrome wheels & running boards, super spacious cargo, backup system, dual AC, key-less ignition and entry ... I could go on! To make it even better, just going on our word (and the auto-check in our hand that needed to be switched out in the morning), Michael pulled it off the line and made sure it was just right. He saw a pressure indicator light and had it fixed and also replaced the wipers on my request. He even stayed late both nights just to entertain and take care of us. When we were introduced to the owner at the closing, Dave told him how happy we were with Michael. When we initially walked on the lot, Michael gave us some time, DIDN'T pounce on us like fresh meat... happily approached us with consideration and a genuine air about him that made us comfortable. He asked what we were looking for. Dave gave him a few of our wishes and we were led directly to the Murano. Michael had owned one before so he was able to quickly point out things we wouldn't have known about at first glance. So that was helpful. Basically.... What I'm telling you... They have a no haggle price policy. That's fine but the problem was the car that we wanted was at the very top of recommended prices according to what they use for car pricing. There was another car that was in the middle so I guess they don't all up sale them but the one we wanted was unfairly priced. They wouldn't budge on that, didn't care that I was there to spend money. Also a $499 dealer fee for paperwork, give me a break.. for sending a few papers to the dmv. Typical Used Car Lot Screw Job - BEWARE! First off let me say that after some extensive research it seemed that Murphy Motor Co. was a cut-above Used Car Lot. Don't be fooled like we were. I guess we should have been suspicious when we saw their 5 Star Rating that came from "Selected Reviews". Seems anyone can have a 5 Star Rating if one screens out the bad reviews . . . . . like the one I wrote. Sequence of Events for the Screw Job by Murphy Motor Co.: (Sorry for the length of this review but it's needed to get the whole story.) * Called Murphy Motor Co. Friday Jan. 13 2017 to see about a 2010 Ford Escape they had on the lot. Talked to Deny Fuentes. We had a nice conversation about the car and I told him we'd be down in the morning to look at it. * The next morning (Sat.) we meet Deny and we looked the car over (I had to take time off at my expense to do this). The vehicle was nice and the price was favorable for out budget. Wife drove it around the lot. We set up a time to do a longer test drive for Mon. the 16th. * On Monday we showed up and test drove it. (Once again I had to take time off of work) Next we got a price with trade (from the Sales Manager Brent Rascoe)and that price was agreeable and fit our budget. Asked them if they wanted a deposit. They said no need. Told them that because Mon. was a Holiday we'd have to get financing set up on Tues. Also told them that financing for us was no problem. We also set up a time to have our mechanic look the car over. * On Mon. night I had several emails to Brent about the car. These emails indicated that we were moving forward with the purchase. * Tue. Morning I emails Brent to let him know the financing had gone through and that the check was on the way. I also emailed him the verification from our Credit Union that the loan was approved. I did all this to make sure Brent knew our intentions on purchasing that vehicle. * Tue. afternoon I get a call from Deny. Told me there was a person there that had driven from Virginia and was going to be buying the car and to cancel the appointment with our mechanic. SURPRIZE! Seems that since I had not put down any money (which I had offered twice to do) they were obligate to sell to him. A TOTAL CROCK! I was born at night BUT NOT LAST NIGHT! They just did not want that car to go to my mechanic and because I am 70 they figured they could take advantage of me. I can bet if I was 280 lbs, six foot six tall and an ex-Marine I'd be driving this vehicle now! * I called the lot and talked to Brent. Needless to say, I WAS HOT! He made all sorts of excuses and proceeded to blame me. He indicated I was a lier because I had not offered to put down a deposit. He also offered to find me another car. I told him that I'd never let Murphy Motor Co. make a dime off me, so forget that idea. * I also talked to my salesman Deny and got the same line of Bull. As did I get from the owner Murphy Scott Moore. In fact, Brent proceeded to lecture me about swearing during our conversation and said they were all adults there (once again indicating that I was not an adult). Scott Moore also indicate that this was all my fault because I had not put down a deposit. (Remember, I offered twice) In summary, I was (I thought) dealing with professionals and dealing in good faith. They proceeded to prove me wrong. It was all about getting a check for that car today and screw the old guy who wants to have a mechanic look at the vehicle. There was never a time in the process that we indicated that we were not interested in that vehicle, and they knew that. We played no games on pricing and communicated with them every step of the way. And then ended up with no car! Is it any wonder that Used Car People are held is such low esteem. Far too many of them are crooks or in this case just plane shameful in how they deal with a customer buying a car. Not shopping. . . buying! Any "respectable" businessman would have told the guy from Virginia that the car was spoken for, but if the deal fell through, they'd get back to him and cover his gas for the trip(s). My husband and I were sold a bad car and given misleading information by the finance manager when we purchased a car at this dealership recently. We test drove a car we had researched online and decided to buy it. We didn't want to purchase the expensive warranty package that was being pushed pretty hard on us at the time of purchase. I asked the finance manager if there were any major issues with the car that were spotted during their inspection. He looked in the folder and said that they only had to change the oil and do some minor tweeks to the car but that was it. We bought the car "as is" and two weeks later and $1800 later we have a major oil leak issue and now the engine has become compromised due to the length of time that passed with such a significant oil leak happening and not being addressed in a timely manner. We were sold a lemon and our money was treated very poorly. I am not happy about this at all and would not recommend this company to anyone else. read more
