a plate of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and beans
    Earl S.

It's alright. I stopped into this spot for a lunch one Friday afternoon after clinic and tried to see what the hype from so many of the locals was about. Apparently, Louise's is a popular spot with many Griffin locals and I was about to relocate away from the area after three years and had to get a taste. It's cafeteria-style, where you get a tray and serve yourself of various food options. I had the meatloaf, mashed potatoes, a couple of the deviled eggs, mac and cheese, and some black eyed pies. The best thing on the plate were the mashed potatoes and the peas. The meatloaf was aight. The deviled eggs tasted store-bought--flavorless. The mac and cheese was not good so I ended up just leaving it on the plate. Again, if you're hungry and want a variety of different options, they are cool. They're mostly mediocre at best, but I hear going on Sunday after church may better.

Does this look like almost $30 of food? Not for this area.

First visit will be LAST visit for us. Walk in and there's a long buffet typical of all you can eat restaurants. Looks pretty yummy. No signs saying it's NOT all you can eat. It is mysteriously priced "per scoop" with no per item prices posted which you learn at the register. Wanted to try a tablespoon of slaw to see if you like it? Yep. Charged full side price. Same for meats. No divided plates and some small bowls but you get a large platter so how much of a "scoop" should you get? Who knows? No sign about which color plastic cup to get for water or other drinks. Then the shocker. $$$$ Lunch for two with very little on one plate was $29.25!!!! Next shocker was EVERY SINGLE TABLE in large main room had dirty dishes or unwiped tables. Next little area behind a half wall had half of them dirty with plates. And junk piled up by wall next to our table. No clue if it had been sanitized. There was no staff on the dining floor. The food was average. My Dad asked after eating about the way they price. He thought they must have overcharged him. Typically an all you can eat restaurant in the area charges around $11 or less including your drinks at lunchtime. They weren't rude but you could tell they get that complaint a lot. We're going back to a different less expensive place with better food and no confusion.

Not really a fan. It was subpar. The food was flavorless and for what I paid for it wasn't worth it. The food is bland. I won't be back

It can get a bit crowded, and that said to me that's where I needed to be. I tried a few times and couldn't get inside. But I finally got in, and I see why people like it so much. It's very family friendly, as I had my niece with me. Plus, overall, the waitress was very nice, and the service was fast. Now what a surprise, a special sausage was on the menu. It's hard to find what I call red rose sausages, and cooked with a little burnt, the way I like them. Well, they are here! Of course, I ordered the grits, and there were no lumps. Those are the best kind of grits. We ordered a breakfast sandwich. It's been a while since I had one. We shared that, and it brought back memories. We actually closed down the place. As you can see in the pictures, it got empty. But when you find a great, delicious breakfast with red rose sausages that remind you of home, you'll sit there, enjoying the food and forgetting about the time.

I like to try new restaurants so headed down to Griffin and decided to give this place a shot. It was crowded, but we were able to be seated rather quickly. Our server was attentive and very nice. She did a good job explaining the different items and any specials that they had.. we opted for cheeseburger or breakfast plate, and I swapped out the bacon for fried chicken breast. Also got the lunch plate with mac & cheese and fried okra.. the fried chicken breast was absolutely delicious and so was the okra. I wasn't a huge fan of the pancake, but I got the plain one.

But it wasn't a problem because the two girls checking us in were fast. They explained that it's three different buffets. This is where I get a little confused. So, you have the Seafood Buffet, the Country Cookin, and one more. Now we chose the Country Cookin, and it was beyond good. I went back for the beef tips and rice twice. The fried chicken was the crispiest I've ever had. The baked chicken was falling from the bones, and I had that with creamed corn and collard greens. Not many people can cook collard greens or creamed corn. I was very impressed. After my first two plates, I started to sample because I wanted to try all the food, and because each item had its own flavor and the way it was supposed to be cooked. I think this lady and I were about to rumble over the hushpuppies. We were both trying to figure out how they were made. I also had a big bowl of green beans, and I was elated to know these were cooked the old-fashioned way. I'm not a big fan of Blackberry Cobbler. But since everything I tried was good, I thought I should try the cobbler, and ten out of ten, it was the best. In overall this is really a good buffet.

I quickly fell in love with its cutesy style: the brown walls, dark ceiling, glowy chandeliers, and black tables and chairs. I walked around admiring the pictures perfectly placed on the wall when a colorful salad caught my attention on someone's table. I told the waitress I would like the same. It's a Strawberry Chicken Salad with Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing. She gave me a choice of chicken salad or grilled chicken. I chose the chicken salad. What a salad. It was a mix of huge pecans, grapes, crumbled blue cheese, and slices of fresh strawberries. The salad was a winner, for sure. I added fries because every table had fries. So why not me? On my way out, I stopped by the pastries counter and got a pecan bar. It had a nice gooey texture, big-sized pecans, and the perfect crust. I stopped by the coffee shop across the street, sat on a bench, and enjoyed every bite of my pecan bar. So, I had a great brunch day, and I can't wait to return and try more delicious items on the menu. Also, there's plenty of parking in the back; turn on the first side street, and you'll see two lots.

The inside was warm and inviting not crowded for Thursday afternoon so that was good. Our server was very informative when I asked about the popular dishes and made recommendations and was offered the specials on a little piece of paper which I thought was a good Idea. We decided on the meatloaf special and Ruban sandwich and beef tortellini soup. We were told they had big portions so we were expecting great things. Soup came first it was excellent so off to a good start, then came our food the portions were normal size in my opinion, the meatloaf was average kinda bland and dry no wow factor but just okay. The Ruban sandwich was good size but mostly sauerkraut not enough meat. The rye bead was delicious and the dressing was good but still no wow factor. The ice tea was great not cloudy. Overall the food was average but for the price I'd say a good value. On to the desserts which I took to go and were outstanding, that was the star of the show for me I guess but I'm willing to try some different things next time. It's a good little place and the Staff was excellent, but I feel like the food was average.
