Took my father-in-law here after visiting the World Golf Hall of Fame. It was his last meal in St Augustine for this trip. Our server (apologies for not remembering his name) was on the ball and delivered a great experience. So much better than the stupidly expensive place from he night before that was awful. We just finished up with our second funeral and at 8pm we called Caddy Shack and asked what time they closed they said 9pm. We got there at 8.30 and the doors were locked. Very disappointing overall. We arrived at Caddy Shack around 6:15 pm and didn't get our food until 7:30. The server told us "something happened" in the kitchen. Additionally the server never removed our appetizer plates and empty cups. We had to clear our own table while we waited an excessive amount of time for our food. Once we spoke with a manager she seemed uninformed and didn't take ownership. After investigating she came back to tell us we were wrong for feeling like it had taken too long. She detailed out the time stamps from their system of when the orders were entered. She claimed our food order wasn't entered until 7:12 (not our fault). She offered to take some money off our bill but really the way she treated us and didn't take responsibility was the real issue. We are not the type to complain without a legitimate reason (I have worked in several restaurants), but this was just too much. We will not return. read more

Since becoming a "Yelper", I definitely look at things from a different angle. I once dated a professional restaurant spotter, who's singular job was to go to very nice restaurants and send in a ridiculous detailed report to their corporate office. Details regarding exact time it took to greet and serve customers, did the till drawer get left open, to the exact condition of the parking lot and bathroom. He worked with the likes of Ruth's Chris type of places and kept busy with the more successful chains. Enter Caddy Shack. I met some folks for a quick after load in/set up for an event here, and was indeed impressed. Initially, I was confused when I joined a table that had already ordered their food. The table was in the undefined zone around the bar area, so did a waitress approach the table? Did I order from the bar? There was no host when I entered, so it was that awkward first five minutes at which point I approached a wait staff standing in the wait area of the bar to ask for a menu. It was surprising that he didn't look up from his texting but for a split moment then while still continuously looking at his phone, stepped to a menu rack on the wall to pull menu out and hand to me. I don't even think he made eye contact. Maybe he was dealing with an issue of magnitude, but I suspect it was less grandeous and more catching up. It was a sort of odd behavior in what was a pretty tightly run ship. Later, I did see someone at the host stand and the bartender did return eventually so I think I entered at a perfectly timed moment when no one was aware. Another table had come in after myself, and they had been there for a bit when the bartender finally approached their table, bringing menus. He did turn to me afterwards to take my drink order. The house wine was good, you really can't mess up Merlot, and it was a challenge to select my menu item. The three at my table had ordered quesadilla (precut and apparently delicious), the Shack Shrimp which was also looking good and a taco which my friend raved about. Clearly the food was stellar. I elected the Fiesta Salad with shrimp added. Everything on the menu was named in a golf theme but it all looked enticing. The crowd was light and mellow. There were families, couples and friends in the mix. I wandered a bit until I found the restroom to wash the days residual dust off my hands. This is where the super picky part of that guy I used to see made me see things differently. The bathroom seemed oddly out of place. The walls were made from that textured brick like you see in concrete textured retaining walls but we're painted this really intense (I get it) dark golf green. Painting over them just seemed cheap and the colors seemed to clash. On a good note, the hand drying had the two options of warm air blower or paper towels. Bonus for that! In taking my order, I requested fresh jalapenos but it arrived with pickled ones. No big deal and the salad was piled high with crispy tortilla strips and a small scoop of guac and sour cream. It was yum. The shrimps were quite large and the portions generous. I like that the dressing was premixed so you don't dig your fork into lettuce 3 inches down then have to take it to the dressing band, it is ready to eat. Throughout our meal, the bartender checked in on food and got us seconds on the drinks. He wasn't really friendly or chatty, more polite and 'doing his job'. It would be a stretch to say he was arrogant, but he had a kind of smirk? I don't know, he just wasn't the usual, welcoming, where are you from, let me get some eye contact with you, I'm working for tips approach. He was a little slack in bringing the table next to me a napkin/utensils set up, but not for me. My food runner, whom I highly suspect was a manager, had to run and grab me a fork after brining the food. He mixed up drink order deliveries and didn't ask how to split the check on my friends so they had to chase him down to redo it. All in all, definitely recommend. I would suggest some better lighting on the sidewalk because I literally had to use my phone flashlight on the way to my vehicle. Maybe an upgrade in bartender interactions but the food, the food was top notch. This really fun theme restaurant has encapsulated all things revolving around the 1970's golfer's cult classic, Caddyshack. And yes, this is a restaurant developed by Bill Murray, (avid golfer in real life) and his brothers. The location is perfect as it is almost right next door to the World Golf Hall of Fame in World Golf Village. You can find Caddyshack easily as it has a Volkswagen sized golf ball lodged into the frontage of the building. Additionally, there is a large stuffed alligator outside wearing a lovely kilt. But really if you miss all of this eye candy, the crashed golf cart and dual two story high golf clubs should lead you right on into this over the top bar and grill. I do love the mind blowing memorabilia that decorates this place. Lots of pictures from the movie Caddyshack, lawnmowers hanging from the ceiling, golfing paraphernalia from the movie set, etc. This place is casual Americana food with a great bar. There are also some themed menu items such as the 'Spaulding Salad', 'Double Bogey' cheese burger and my favorite 'Carl's Baby Ruth' cheesecake! I had a tasty Sheboygan Beer Brat which really did have some great beer flavor. And I would highly recommend the Onion Ring Appetizer. These bad boys of the veggie world were HUGE and fried in a really nice breading. Good Stuff! But for the most part it's typical bar type foods with a fish dish thrown in and nothing super extravagant. This is ok by me, because the casual environment is perfect for socializing after a hot day playing the King and the Bear Course, after hitting the IMAX theatre or the doing the tour of the Golf Hall of Fame. Bonus points for Lacy who was our server and she was fantastic! AND patient, as my group sat and chatted in this restaurant for 3 hours! Gonna keep this one quick because I don't have much to say. I wanted to love this place so much. I pass by it and the World Golf Hall of Fame every time I head down to Miami and decided to stop this time. Not many people there for a Sunday afternoon by the water, shoulda taken that as a sign. The decor was cool, lots of movie memorabilia and random golf collectibles. Thats about it for the positives. When the waiter came to take my drink order I asked what pale ales or IPA's they had, he said all they had was Sierra Nevada. "Good enough, go ahead and give me the special for dinner too". After 10 minutes he came back with no drink and said he was sorely mistaken. I asked what else there may be, they had a house Belgain that was decent. Then came my food. Blackened sheep's head(its a fish). The lemon that came with it was pre-used. Squeezed of all its juice. I pretty much handed it to the waiter and said WTF! He said, sorry sir I'll get you another lemon. I took one bit of the fish and was disgusted. I was going to walk out, but decided to just pay my tab and leave. Sad, poor excuse for a restaurant. I hope you read this Bill Murray, your definitely one of my top 3 favorite actors, but its a shame to put your and the movies name on this place. read more

I make this a lunch stop whenever I am in the area. Having had several items off the menu, I like the club sandwich as well as their burgers. I just tried their fried mashed potato golf balls as an appetizer, omg so good !! My husband agrees, we've never had a bad meal at Caddyshack. The service was not only friendly but helpful with my menu question. Plus important now, staff wore masks so I felt safe dining there with my family. I gave this a 3 because the service and billing are hit and miss. The majority of the wait staff are not friendly, but a few are quite friendly. Some of the wait staff will charge full price to refill coffee (!!!) while others do not. One person always offers coffee to go at no extra charge. Some items on the menu are outstanding one time but substandard the next time. It's almost like going to a different restaurant every time I go there. I never know what to expect. read more

While visiting St Augustine Historic District area, I head Bill Murray owned a restaurant there and decided to take the twenty five min drive to have lunch there. The Restaurant is located in the PGA golf grounds and next to Renaissance Resort which makes sense why is called the Caddy Shack. The place has a cool look, outside you will find a giant golf ball that seems it has smash the walls and damage the bldg. Inside you will find many memorabilia of the actor and brothers, it will take you back to all those hilarious movies. The staff and waitress were very friendly and patience, being our first time there we took a while to order. They have kids menu which is great and the portion were pretty good. I ordered the flat bread pizza and it was the size of a small pizza, pretty much two can eat from one. The flat bread was very tasty and it was hot from the oven, we also ordered the Chicago Hot dog also very good. Even though we never sat at the bar it has a good sitting area with flats screens TV's with many sports games going on they even had a TV showing the Rose Parade for us ladies. Not what it used to be. I wanted so much to love it. Near my home with great views. Every dish I tried got worse than the one before. The last straw was a burger I ordered, the meat seemed to be bad. Wouldn't you think that stopping in on Masters Sunday in a golf themed restaurant and area would be like heaven? Not even close. Stopped in off of I-95 around 4 on Sunday to try to watch the Masters. It was on TV, but the sound was 70s rock pounding out of the speakers. We were told that there were issues in the past with people not agreeing on the sound to go along with the TVs, so the decision was made to only play TV sound for the Super Bowl. What? We had an amazing experience at Murray Bros. Caddyshack!! The appetizer we had was the potato golf balls, it was basically a loaded potato mashed up and fried. It was served with a horseradish sauce that full of flavor. The boom boom chicken and Brussels sprout hash was so flavorful. My husband had the jambalaya, he said it really good. To top the evening off our server, Rebecca, was fantastic. Aside from the usual work of serving food and making sure we were good, she was able to help redirect our daughter from being tired and cranky to being cheerful. She gave her a quarter and informed us about feeding the fishes and turtles at the lake. With three young kids, we are always looking for kid friendly places to eat. Murray Bros was just that. They were having trivia night so it was a fun, laid back atmosphere with many out of towners. My husband and I were on vacation, visiting our daughter and her husband. She suggested that we might try out the Caddy Shack, but was not sure if she really wanted to go - she said there was bad reviews about it. My response? Give it a try. If we don't like it, we don't go back, and we know for sure. If we like it, we'll be back every time we visit again. We'll be back! All four of us were absolutely wowed by our meals. Between us all, we had a burger, a sandwich, chicken and waffles and crab cakes. While those were all very good, the icing on the top was the potato golf balls. I am suffering addiction withdrawal from those, and they don't have them here in the Houston area! One thing I must note about our trip to the Caddy Shack - it was not a black tie occasion for any of us - just family going out for a comfortable and delicious dinner together.
