We were staying at the hotel and had breakfast. You would have to drive 6 to 8 miles to find another breakfast restaurant. We were going to order a la carte from the menu but our server convinced us the buffet was a much better deal because it includes all the menu items plus the buffet and drinks. He was right, even though the buffet was $20 per person, ordering from the menu would have been at least fifty percent more. The food was great and cooked to order. We had plenty to eat and drink. Buffet for 2 with tip and tax was $55 but was worth it. read more

Highly disappointed in the service and the food. We made a reservation for 8pm and were seated quickly. Warm bread was served and while putting butter on the bread we discovered a long piece of hair, we should have left at that point but we were very hungry. Here we are, smack in the middle of summer vacation season, staying at a 4-star hotel resort, and the restaurant at the hotel, the Villagio, is open only in the morning to serve a "continental breakfast." No dinner service at all, and this resort is far from other restaurants. Not only is the management at this restaurant short-sighted not to see the opportunity they are missing, but the hotel here is equally ignorant, not to see how much of a disservice they are doing to their guests by forcing them to drive 8-10 miles outside the resort just to get a meal. read more

This is the bar/restaurant inside of the Renaissance Golf Resort we were staying so we had a few drinks and a snack pool side. We didn't have a full meal from here, but we did try their wings and fries which were pretty delicious, and perfectly cooked to me! I really actually wanted to highlight the amazing service of the bartenders especially Rocco. I think he mentioned he was new to the team, but his service was amazing! We had a tab open at the bar and I originally ordered our first round of drinks at the bar and walked out to the pool. The next couple of times when we ordered the wings/fries and another drink- he actually walked it out to us by the pool! I thought it was a very nice gesture because obviously he didn't have to- as they do not offer pool side service (i mean they should), but they don't and i thought that was really great service! I am happy we had a great experience at the hotel bar especially because we are here for a couple more days! Thanks bartenders! Update: We had breakfast here this morning and it was good. Very convenient since it rained today! Our serve was Ringo who is super polite and sweet! Recommend him as your server if you choose to dine in! They offer a breakfast menu as well as a light breakfast buffet (two different choices). I believe the more expensive one is $19, but is worth it if you eat like my husband and are in he mood for your basic scrambled eggs, toast, bacon, fruit, etc. I opted to have an eggs Benedict which was $14 and it was delicious and the portion was worth the price. read more

Lousy. Just not good. It's the only restaurant inside the hotel I was staying at for a work conference. I had no choice but to eat there the first night I got in town. I had the cauliflower crusted pizza. The waiter told me it was a new item on the menu and every one of the staff tried it and loved it. So I'm staying at the Renaissance for a conference and this is the only decent place nearby. You have to jump back on I-95 and head south towards the Outlet Malls to get something remotely better. This is what sucks about having a conference on a golf resort. Anyway!!! It's a bit pricey for what it is which is a standard Italian place. I had the penne with meatball (yes, one giant meatball) and a pink sauce. The penne was ok, the meatball fell apart at the touch of the fork so it basically turned into ground beef. The pink sauce was good and had a bit of a kick to it. What sucked was that the soup of the day was clam chowder which I ordered. It came in the weirdest bowl that made it look like you got a lot but in fact, you hardly got anything at all and they charge $6 for it. Rip off. If you are desperate, fine but if not, do yourself a favor and drive the distance to downtown St. Augustine. read more

We read the poor reviews and decided to try this restaurant anyway. We were so pleasantly surprised! Our drinks (classic martini and manhattan) were perfect, the calamari appetizer was incredible (with feta, black olives, etc) and our son's ribeye, my salmon and risotto, and my husband's pasta caprese were all perfectly prepared and delicious. Warning...stay away. My husband ordered the herb roasted chicken and he was trying to decide which tasted better, the Nutri System chicken in a box or this chicken. My daughter found a hair in her Caesar salad. She said it was not bad had it not been for the hair. I had the Caprese salad which was terrible. Unless you're on south beach where you find the famous chefs creating amazing dishes in those hotels, these cookie cutter hotels have lousy restaurants. The menu may be limited, but OMG the food wa awesone, offering FARM TO FORK CUISINE. I had the shrimp scampi, my husband had the signature flounder, and mom had the grilled chicken. My scampi was full of shrimp, artichoke hearts, spinach, and parmesan. Even the small portion was more than I could eat! The flounder was a nice surprise, served in a sauce with red bell peppers and ?asparagus tips, and the chicken was moist, tender and flavorful. Our server, Connor, was attentive. Prices were extremely reasonable for the quality of the food. We will definitely be coming back!!! Not sure what to think about the other reviews with low ratings. I dropped in here for a late dinner one night. Best dinner I've had out in a long time. The chicken romana thing was a mess of mashed potatoes, heavily crusted but tasteless chicken breast, and a very acidic tomato sauce with artichokes. It was a huge portion but I wanted to eat almost none of it. The worst, weirdest entree during our stay. Nothing worked or complimented the mix of ingredients. Wife has the salad with tuna and wasabi dressing, but the wasabi was so pronounced it was nearly inedible (and we like a lot of wasabi in our soy with sushi). This would be inedible for many people. Bruschetta was alright. Tiramisu was the high point, and that was average. Price was reasonable for room service food. Menu in room was old and they had to bring another. We were seated near their kitchen so we spent our meal listening to our serve and cook complain about the executive chef. My husbands side dishes were cold. I live in the World Golf Village so, go here frequently (more than 10 times) and have NEVER had a bad experience here. Steaks and seafood are always great and fresh with unique recipes. We arrived to the hotel late. This restaurant was the only available? On site and the menu looked good. Had the drunken muscles and the garlic cheese bread appetizer. My youngest love the garlic cheese bread and the muscles were OK. I had the ribeye and I have to say it was a good steak. My wife had the mahi and risotto and she also said it was good. The atmosphere is OK. Although we did have a chance to sit outside to enjoy the nice weather. I can tell that this hotel operates on a skeleton crew in it's off-season. Or serve it was very nice and overall we had a nice dinner. But there are probably better options closer to Saint Augustine. read more

Great restaurant in the Renaissance. Great service, and food. I had the catch of the day, which was grouper, on a bed of lobster risotto. The grouper was good, but the risotto was amazing. My wife had red snapper on polenta, which was fantastic as well. I would recommend the Villagio to anyone. read more

8/31/16 6:00p.m. We were the only people in the restaurant. The server was great. She was very friendly and attentive. My husband had the halibut special. It was over done - dry and tasteless. He had to ask for more sauce to eat it. And it was $39.99!!! I had the grilled egg plant and zucchini over risotto, The risotto was very good but the eggplant was not cooked fully and there was no zucchini. When we left there were two other guests. My experience began with being sat by the open concept kitchen. One female server asked a cook if they had tried the soup and was it edible today? I ordered the chicken Parmesan with a side of roasted cauliflower; chicken was ok but the cauliflower was completely cold. While I waited for my cold food I was entertained by the kitchen discussion which included F this and F that. One cook said he came up with today's soup by mixing the onion soup with the left over tomato basil...had anyone tried it? They all agreed they could not. All this coupled with dishwasher aroma.
