I'm glad we gave this location another visit. I went on Sunday to celebrate with my family, so it's a perfect place for large parties and family get-togethers. There's a huge full service bar area and a spacious dining room for date night for two and large celebrations on their outside deck overlooking a lake brim full of turtles, fish, gators, birds and all kinds of native Florida wildlife set against views that capture all that's great about living in Northeast Florida. Really amazing! Our server, Susan, was outstanding! She's the one who makes the coleslaw whenever she's on schedule and it's absolutely delicious. I highly recommend. I went on Sunday with my family and we all got the special of about 20 shrimp anyway you like them cooked: fried, steamed or blackened for $16.99 (@ the time I'm writing this review). We all went for the fried shrimp dinner. I chose the fries as my other side and added the unlimited salad bar for just $2.99 more. The salad bar had everything I love about an AYCE salad buffet and it's definitely worth the add. 5-STARS for their classic ranch dressing! And the balsamic dressing, blue cheese dressing and French dressing was excellent, too. They offer a few others, but I didn't try them. I have to have ranch with my fries and I grabbed a bowl of it from the salad bar. I washed it all down with some of their classic Southern sweet tea and I was too full for the Key Lime Pie on special for the day. Next time... We chose to sit on the covered deck by the outdoor pond because the overwhelming fishy smell inside the restaurant was too strong to enjoy our meal. Even though it was in the 90s outside, the deck was actually very pleasant, and watching the turtles and fish in the pond was by far the best part of the experience. Unfortunately, that was where the positives ended. I ordered the blackened mahi mahi fish sandwich with fries. The fish itself was actually well cooked and nicely seasoned, but the tomato on the sandwich was literally the top core slice of the tomato. A simple glance in the kitchen would have easily prevented that. We also had the shrimp po' boy with fries. The bun had been placed on the grill to toast, but it picked up heavy black char that ended up all over the bread and mixed into the shrimp. I bit into the sandwich and was shocked to crunch down on bitter, burnt residue that even hurt my tooth. It really made me wonder what else had been on that grill. The shrimp itself also had a freezer-burnt taste, and the fries had a similar off flavor. For a seafood restaurant, I didn't expect that level of quality issue with basic ingredients. The server offered to remake the sandwich but with that kind of taste, I did not think a remake would fix the problem. Overall, very disappointing food experience. Learned about this place from a local who likes to eat here. This is a neighborhood bar and grill, no frills, just a full bar and great food. Our service was good. The margarita was good, not great, but pretty good. My husband had deviled crab with a baked potato and applesauce. I had the 2-item platter with shrimp and scallops. Both were absolutely delicious, came out hot and cooked to perfection. I had grits, and found them to be pretty good, but not real hot. Very pleasantly surprised. This is the first time I have ever been there. The staff was very nice very polite and actually quite friendly. They had a saying there. "Hey we'd love to be your friend." I think that's great. They were very knowledgeable with the menu, they answered all questions and let me tell you something. The specials were amazing! The four of us wound up getting the shrimp special for 1499, which included 20 butterfly shrimp anyway you'd like them grilled broiled or fried two sides and two hush puppies. What a fantastic deal the food arrived hot delicious and they also had half-price appetizers so I wound up getting the fried green tomatoes. Very healthy portion and tasted delicious. I've been here a couple times over the past year and a half and I always opt for the blackened shrimp, which is done perfect every time. The shrimp is butterflied and incredibly pillowy, with just the right amount of seasoning. It's the kind of dish that makes you crave it over and over. I usually pair it with their rice pilaf and collard greens which they did not have at my last visit but the green beans were a good substitute. Been here a bunch of times during the week and sat at the bar. This was our first time eating on a Saturday night with a group of 6. Service was amazing and we never had to look for a server. Drinks were always full and extra stuff came immediately. They had a nice guitar player performing and my mahi was fresh and cooked perfectly several people had fried seafood and it looked good as well. While on vacation, we met an old friend who lives in St Augustine. He recommended St Mary's Seafood where he is a regular. We appreciate him leading us to it. That was the day for the whole red fish to be on special. It was crispy with the head on. Nick said it was delicious. Dan and I got soup. Dan got the shrimp and corn chowder and I got clam chowder. My husband and I decided to try this place for lunch today after driving by this area on a regular basis to get to I-95. The restaurant is actually off of International Golf Parkway. They have indoor, outdoor and bar seating. It was very hot today so we opted to sit inside. The air conditioner was working great. The menu offers plenty of appetizers, salads, sandwiches and entrees. The entrees come with two sides of your choice and two hush puppies. We were seated right away with a friendly and welcoming smile. The restaurant is clean, spacious, nice bar, and decorated with holiday cheer! Our waiter Patrick was a GEM! Super sweet, funny and shared a great tip which I'll share below - let's just say it's the Welch way to do it. We tried a few different items on the menu, knowing we would be bringing food home for sure! Our appetizers: Fried Squash with ranch dressing. Simple but oh so good!! A win! Philly cheese steak egg rolls - perfectly cooked, nicely seasoned outside with a good crunch with philly goodness on the inside! Wasn't a fan of the Chinese type duck sauce with it ...def think their ranch dressing would be a better fit or a cheese sauce. But we loved them! Loaded tater tots - covered in cheese sauce, bacon and chives/green onion. My husband enjoyed them as they were served and I am sure others like them that way as well. However, I would have preferred them a bit crunchier on the outside. I'll remember to ask for them crunchier next visit. Our sides: Mac and cheese was cheesy & tasted good however the elbows were just a little too mushy. Creamed corn with bacon was delicious! Very creamy and the bacon was a good touch. Salad Bar - reminded me of when I lived on Long Island and you'd go to these little diners - basic fixins and it hits the spot! Fresh is always key, which that is was! Main dish - Fish platter with fried Paddock. Love how the breading did not overpower the fish. The fish was moist and the batter was crispy and it delivered on taste! Hush puppies were shhhhh really crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle = perfect!! The Paddock is a very flakey fish so fork is your friend! The tartar sauce was well made and great consistency and flavor! However...here it is....Patricks tip on how the Welch do it ...add some malt vinegar, a squeeze of the lemon, a shake of the salt shaker and then dip in ketchup. Tartar sauce is not the Welch way it's our American way. So we had to try it and we can say we were pleasantly surprised and are a fan!! Thank you Patrick! The food was very good. The fried mushrooms and yellow squash were both good. We each had the sheepshead fish special prepared 2 different ways, and both the blackened and the broiled were very good. Large portions, and really yummy. The baked potatoes were large and the cole slaw was quite good. Servers, as always, were super nice. Our brought over datil sauce when she mentioned if we'd like any other sauce. My St Mary's Sangria Blue was also very good. I didn't like the Jax location's food for lunch. Our server, bless her heart couldn't remember the specials or the prices telling me " I think the shrimp special is $14.99." I opted for that since it seemed pretty safe. It came with a choice of side. I opted for the baked potato since I haven't had one in forever. and I just had a feeling this place would make them good. My husband acted for the fried fish. I believe it was flounder which came with two sides at 24.99 the meals also came with two hush puppies each my husband opted for the salad bar. I didn't go up to look at it, but he came back with all kinds of things and he seemed happy, especially since they had egg on the salad bar, he really enjoyed his fish and said it wasn't greasy and it was cooked just right. My shrimp special was fair. There were a lot of shrimp but they just weren't that tasty. I drowned them in hot sauce and tartar sauce. I really enjoyed St Mary's more than I expected to - it's a little off the main road, hidden away so I always envisioned it as just a roadside stop off of I-95. When I got there however, it was much nicer than I anticipated. It's got multiple different seating options with either outdoor seating inside tables or bar side seating. Our server, Savannah was efficient in her role - she seemed to be new, but she did a good job. I had the flounder lunch with rice and coleslaw and it was delicious - I finished every bite! The lunch portion was more than enough, and discounted relative to the dinner price which made this an excellent value. The restaurant itself was relatively quiet on a Sunday afternoon - I'm in my mid '50s and I was probably the youngest one there... They seem to run specials during football games, so I would expect a younger more energetic crowd during football season. We ordered so many different things-everything good but a few things we all extra loved. Conch fritters maybe top that list. Fried green tomato's as well, excellent. We love to go to st. Mary's for dinner-love their fried shrimp & they have great collards. My husband enjoys their fried fish & a cold beer.

We stopped by St. Mary Seafood and had an okay experience overall. The food was decent and came out as expected, but the interaction with the manager felt a bit off it seemed like they may have just been having a rough day. Nothing was outright wrong, it was all just ok. I understand everyone has off days, so I'm hoping this was just a one-time thing. Arrived on Monday night and found there was no wait, I'd say the restaurant was at most half filled which was a little surprising but I was happy because we got seated immediately - the staff was very friendly, professional and extremely attentive. The food here was just okay in my opinion with so many seafood choices in this part of Florida this places falls somewhere in the middle of the ocean not the highly quality but certainly respectable when it comes to portions, it probably would never again be a destination but certainly will remain on the list as an option - the atmosphere feels a little like a diner and I didn't find anything that really set it apart from lots of other places I'd say it falls somewhere between Long John Silvers and Red Lobster both respectable in their lanes. The seafood trio comes with a number of seafood options and sides; the fried Alaskan Pollock was just okay the malt vinegar on the table helped but nothing I'd order again, the fried shrimp were tasty but pretty small and the deviled crab x2 was a good mixed stuffing seasoned and fried well stuffed in a crab shell but not a substitute for a well made crab cake. I chose the collards which were well executed and red skinned mashed potatoes that I set aside after a small taste definitely disappointing. The pick two was probably a better choice with blackened shrimp and blackened scallops again smaller in size and one reason I rate this place more like a chain restaurant, the baked potato was good but to get it loaded was an additional $3.99 up charge so we passed on this option. The house margarita was small in size but tasty and the draft Intuition IPA was ice cold and delicious (highly recommend). All-over it was an okay quick dining experience with exceptional service but a little expensive for the quality at almost $86.00 excluding the gratuity I failed to notice the $10 inflationary charge others speak of, if that's the case just raise the prices that's a ridiculous excuse and should be explained by the servers before taking orders... read more

We love St Augustine and visit as often as possible and enjoy exploring new places to eat. While stopping at the nearby Buckees for jerkey we decided we needed some seafood for an early dinner before heading back to old town for the lights. So happy we discovered this place! I was a little concerned about the old looking dining area, no thrills, old furniture, but it was clean and the staff friendly! We arrived just before a boom of other diners and were seated quickly. After looking over the numerous choices we decided on the Coconut Shrimp Appetizer, bowl of clam chowder (2), Shrimp Scampi, Low Boil Special, and our drinks Jack Frost (yes!) and Santa's Spritzer (okay). We loved all of our food it tasted amazing and be sure to bring your appetite, there's a lot of food! We had to go boxes filled with food for another entire meal for two.
