I am very impressed with the changes they've made. The sandwiches are larger due to the new bread they used. It also comes with a side. I would highly recommend the bubba with the chickun fries. It was so delicious. I definitely could have saved some for later, but it was just too good and I'm super greedy. They most definitely listened to customer feedback. Been a few months since I've tried a little vegan option from The Murray Hillbilly. Last time they were still in the food truck and I had The Bubba (BBQ Soy Chicken), so I opted for the "What in Tarnation" (Quinoa Sloppy Joe) with a side of Vegan Hush puppies, the tartness of the sauce was pleasant and the texture was similar to a beef sloppy Joe. For those not sure if they can get used to vegan, I can only recommend that you stop in and see for yourself. read more

Not sure what happened here. After a long day at work I decided to drive 35 min away from the direction of my home to purchase a yureckon , side Mac and hush puppies. ($20.33) Placed my order to go but couldn't wait until I got home. Got in the car Opened my container to have a spoon of that delicious Mac and cheese I'm use to getting from the food truck. Unfortunately I was extremely disappointed. The Mac was unbelievably cold and bland. Though my sandwich and hush puppies were tasty the disappointment with my signature favorite left left me disheartened. Murray Hillbilly has always been one of my favs even though they are a bit pricey for the very small portions I've never complained. Today was not a good day. The food is good but it's over priced with small portions. They advertised in their IG a burger with cheddar cheese and soy curls on top with a side of Mac and cheese. I came into the restaurant and explained what I saw and wanted to order. My total came to 30 (because my daughter had a side of Mac and cheese and corn bread). I didn't think anything of it because it was a entree with a side. I was super excited to try it until they came out. The lady gave me the burger without a side of Mac and cheese. I appreciate the vegan options at MH but feel like their food is a bit overpriced and could use some finessing. First off, I don't want to order food with goofy names. Just let me order like an adult, okay? The phrase "Darn tootin'" will never come out of my mouth, folks. That said, the food is pretty good. I like their barbecue sandwich but the bun it comes on is way too small and the sandwich falls apart after one bite. Annoying. I also find it odd that they don't offer more conventional sides like fries since they clearly have a fryer. I'm hoping that things will improve at their permanent location and I wish them all the best. I'd prefer that my meals didn't generate a pile of trash so I'm also hoping they eventually serve on real plates and eliminate the garbage. read more

This place has a really nice chill vibe. Customer service was amazing and they even had really cute vegan pins that were free! they had sooooooO many options that sounded tasty but I settled for the jackfruit bbq sandwich. It was really good. The first time I came a year ago I had a cauliflower buffalo sandwich or something and it didn't have a lot of seasoning but it looks like they redid the menu and food since. Update: I finally was able to visit their new brick and mortar location and it is such an improvement over their truck! It seems they are better able to experiment with recipes and have added more options to their menu. They still have the same things they offered on their truck as well. The restaurant is a very chill, casual, welcoming space. It suits them. Vegan food isn't hard to find in Jax but there is really no one else out here doing southern vegan food, or comfort vegan food. I really appreciate what they offer and highly recommend. read more

While I don't want to discourage anyone from trying this restaurant and making up their own mind, I've given it a lot of thought and don't feel comfortable with leaving my rating at a perfect 5, particularly after my last experience. Having experienced this restaurant many times now -- and having had a range of experiences each time on all accounts (service/staff, food quality, etc.) -- I have to be honest and say it's notably inconsistent. Sometimes, the service has been fast and friendly and the food is solid. Other times, it has been ... the opposite of that in every way. Sadly, as far as my personal experiences with this restaurant have gone, the trend has been downward for whatever reason. If I have one piece of advice for everyone, it is that you should check your order to ensure accuracy before even exiting the restaurant. Still, I really do encourage everyone to give them a try. I can see why they have so many great reviews and I can also see why they have multiple less-than-stellar reviews. read more

The ambiance is super welcoming and I adored everything about it, from the arcade games in the back to the old church pews for seating. So freaking good. I got the darn tootin (very cute hillybilly names) and it was super yummy. Very messy as a sandwich but then everything gets messy with me so not all their fault. I kept my expectations very low despite the very good reviews, especially for the macaroni and cheese because vegan cheese is tricky at best, and I just wanted to be cautiously optimistic. Holy moly, everything was AWESOME! I'll be thinking about the macaroni and cheese with the buffalo chicken on it all week. I had the hillbilly Whopper and I just had to take a moment of silent for all the flavor that I experienced upon the first bite and all I could do is go mmm after every bite. The hand cut fries were fresh and hot. Of course we had to try the GF deserts and I had the Ginger Snap cookie sandwich. It was soft, chewy and sweet. I was totally blown away by our experience. You know it was good when you are planning you next visit before you finish your meal. This is a must, must, must visit in Jax. Just tried it for the first time and it was really amazing. I started a plant-based diet for the health benefits knowing that my normal palate was going to suffer as I was a huge meat eater. But when I tried their version of a plant-based buffalo chicken sandwich, I felt like I was eating comfort food again. It wasn't just one of the better vegan options that I've ever had, it was one of the better sandwiches I've ever had. The fries and the dipping sauce were super flavorful and the portion was filling. Food is awesome, prices are fair and interior is comfortable. I always love supporting vegan businesses and was excited to check it out. I was a bit underwhelmed by the customer service. The cashier didn't welcome us, didn't really say hello and seemed completely disinterested which was weird because it was almost totally empty. The owners were right next to her so I guess they're fine with this. The guy who brought our food was super friendly and engaging so appreciated him. I follow them on IG so I'm aware that they're completely self funded and that's part of why they have such limited hours. Having solid customer service where your employees are friendly and owners say hello, thanks for coming in, or even simply make eye contact with guests goes a long way.
