I am a mom of two young-ish children, and I hadn't worked out since I giving birth to my younger child in September of 2021. My long-term goals were to increase my strength and decrease my body fat while maintaining the little muscle I had...and I was very wary of my ability to do this alone. I was also several months away from turning 40, and my short-term goal was to feel (and look!) good before that happened. I knew Jon was the trainer for me as soon as I met him. He's deeply knowledgeable but communicates information in a context that is simple to follow. Mark also seeks to educate you, so you can ultimately make these decisions on your own. He set me up to take very small steps towards eating better quality foods. Rather than insisting I make big swinging, unsustainable changes, we would focus on small steps. First, we would remove one or two unhealthy food that I was hooked on and add some healthier foods while allowing me leeway to eat food I enjoyed that didn't disrupt the goal of overall wellness. We also made some smaller changes to my eating schedule, which helped digestion and hunger cravings. Mark's leadership was a push rather than a shove. Next thing I knew, months had passed and my body had learned to expect and even rely on healthier foods and my weight was gradually coming down. Over the months, my goals and objectives with Mark have evolved as I've evolved in my eating habits and weight. Months later, I can make many more informed nutritional choices for myself and have a far better understanding of how my body interacts with foods. He was able to provide critique and insight on how to improve my form for these exercises to lower the possibility of injury. Since then, I have also met with him through zoom for some physical therapy sessions- as a capoeirista, he understands how some of the movements we work on in class can cause strain or pain in certain parts of our body. He has helped me with exercises to stretch painful areas such as my hip flexors. As a lash artist I constantly deal with Neck, shoulder, elbow and wrist pain from bad posture and over use of certain muscles. Dr. Jordan was able to give a thorough diagnosis of the areas causing me problems through a series of movements and questions he was able to see over Zoom, where I was having issues. He gave me certain stretches and exercises to do to help and I have been doing them inbetween clients and workouts. My neck and shoulder pain has significantly been reduced due to his help.
