The bbq is ok here but the real star of the show is the fried chicken. This is some of the best fried chicken in the Greenville area. Granted the main options for fried chicken are Church's, KFC, Bojangles and Publix. Sadly, no Popeyes. The sides here are meh. I will mainly be coming here for the fried chicken. read more

Great place for a meal! They have an all you can eat buffet that is fantastic. From slaw, to hash, and even ribs (don't worry, they always have shredded pork and chicken!) and don't forget the fixin's! Macaroni and omg... sweet potato! Mutts is not the best resturant around here, it's the best resturant in the state. World class pulled pork, great pulled chicken, terrific sauces. One of the cleanest restaurants I've ever been to. Heard a lot about how good this place was as ND was anxious to try it. Last night some friends suggested we go there for supper......So glad we did! Best BBQ I've eaten in a long while. The meat is super tender and the sauces are incredible. Usually places like this have great entrees and come up lacking at the dessert bar....Not at Mutts. My husband went there for lunch on 2/1/19. A short time after eating at the Mauldin location my husband became very ill. He was fine prior to that and he was diagnosed with food poisoning by a doctor (retired doctor). I called and spoke to the manager and the territory manager and all they did was deny. I'm a gm of a restaurant myself and if a guest called stating they got food poisoning from my establishment I would certainly handle it better. Linda S read more

A while ago I drove by Smitty's to see they were closed for remodeling. I was pretty excited the next time I drove by and saw that it is now a Mutt's! Mutt's is generally good if you get the right things and is less than $10. The side dishes are a little lackluster and some of their meat is just okay, but their ribs are definitely the best part of the buffet. They have a delicious dry rub and are meaty and tender. Their fried chicken is good as well, which is usually moist and the batter is flavorful. As for side dishes, they offer corn on the cob, baked beans, fried okra, macaroni and cheese, green beans, coleslaw, hush-puppies...pretty typical side dishes. I am sad they do not have greens, though. None of the sides I had are outstanding, but none of them were inedible either. The macaroni and cheese is pretty good if you get it at the right time, and if you don't mind canned, their sweet potato crunch is good as well. I skipped a lot of the sides to eat more ribs. As for their barbecue sauces, two in particular stood out to me. Their sweet and smoky is DELICIOUS, and their hot sauce is almost as good. I did not care much for the others, but I will say that their mustard barbecue is good if you like a lot of mustard flavor. You purchase your dinner at the front of the restaurant and find a table afterward. There is not full service, but they will bring you more plates and refill your drinks. Overall, Mutt's is a cheap and decent buffet option, especially if you are a fan of eating lots of ribs and/or fried chicken. read more

Stopped by here on a trek for some good bbq on our ride home back to Ga. last Sunday and this place did not disappoint! The price is great for the quality and quantity of food you get. We were expecting it to be at least 15+ per person. The fried chicken was some of the best I've ever had and the bbq and ribs were delicious. The sides were even worth it on their own in my opinion. It's a 3 and a half hour drive from where I am, but I have no doubt that we'll be back at some point. The employees were all so friendly and helpful as well. I've been here 2 or 3 times for the buffet. The sides are for the most average. The best are the Brunswick stew and the fried okra. Mac and cheese is a B. Fried chicken is a winner but save room for the other entrees. The pulled pork and pulled chicken is slightly better than average and handles their sauces well. Speaking of sauces, each table has 4 bottles: Hot, mild, sweet and spicy, and SC mustard. All are good! The ribs are fall off the bone tender. Home made fried pork skins were a surprise. Drinks and dessert are included with a nice and simple dessert bar that includes peach cobbler and individual ice creams. I LOVE MUTTS! I've been to all of their locations and love them all. Whenever I come to the Spartanburg/Greenville area for work I can't help but stop in. They have everything! I travel alot for work and have come here on so many different occasions, it's the highlight of coming down to South Carolina for work. Easily THE BEST buffet I've ever been to. Unlike other buffets, their food isn't disgusting and constantly sitting under heat lamps. There are always a ton of people there so the food goes fast and they are constantly replenishing it. All of their food is super fresh and filled with flavor. Each location is always packed too, filled with locals which is always a good sign. The place is super clean and lots of servers are constantly coming around to clean up table and refill ice teas, great service. They have such a huge variety of food available, it's a great way to sample alot of different southern food fare. If you're visiting from out of town, you definitely have to stop here. I cannot recommend this place enough, two thumbs WAY UP!!! read more

Only one star, but not because of the food, service or cleanliness. The servers and cashiers are always nice and helpful. Everything is clean. The food is always fresh, even from the buffet. The ribs are the best of any in this area. Mac and cheese is delicious. The atmosphere is nice (we enjoy watching the train as it rolls around the dining room) and homey. It's very Southern...which is Great! The score of one star is due to the noise level inside the main dining area. They need to install several noise panels on the vaulted ceilings and maybe a few on the walls as well. The chairs are made of very heavy metal and they screech loudly across the floor every time someone pulls the chair out to sit down and the conversation from other tables is so loud, we can't hear each other across our own table. We love the food here but we will not go back until the weather is nice and cool enough to sit outside. Or until they install some type of noise reducing system. read more

So I'm about to say something I never thought I'd say... I just had one of my best meals ever at a BBQ place!! The reason I say this is because I DON'T EAT PORK!!! I never in a million years thought I'd enjoy a buffet at a BBQ restaurant. This food was AMAZING!! I ate all of the following and I an so not ashamed: Pulled smoked chicken, green beans, Mac and cheese, fried chicken, fried shrimp, potato salad and peach cobbler!! Yep! I ate all of that and there is no shame!! Every bit that was supposed to be hot was hot! Everything that was supposed to be cold was cold! I have zero complaints! The peach cobbler and fried chicken made me long for my mother. My five year old daughter was even asking for more food!! Let's talk about their famous ribs. If I did eat pork, I probably would have chomped on those too!! They looked perfectly cooked and the meat feel off of the bone each time my husband touched them. Needless to say, I will return to this restaurant again and again!!! And the price is great!!! read more

Visited this restaurant on a Monday at 11:50am. Food is terrible. I use to work in the Greer area several years ago and myself and my coworkers would go to the Mutts there once a week. This location was great. Tried this one for the first time In Mauldin and could not finish anything I tried. Everything was cold. Mac and cheese was tasteless, bbq was colder than it was outside and was the most dry thing there. The fried okra was mushy and the wings were even worse. When I watched the workers pour sauce over the ice cold wings sitting on the buffet I didn't want to eat anymore. I was so embarrassed that I suggested this place to my wife to try for lunch. The best thing I had was the banana pudding and it was very basic with vanilla pudding and some sliced bananas and of course was cold, as it should be, but as cold as everything on the hot buffet. My wife loves sweet potato casserole and after the first bite, said this is from a can and very cold and couldn't eat that. Very disappointed. read more
