Terrible, ignorant, unhelpful service. Go to the MVD and bring a book. I tried to get a NM Driver's license a couple weeks ago, that I needed to be able to buy a car. I drove 2 hours to get to Santa Fe and brought three proofs of residency, a bank statement, a leasing agreement, and a letter from my employer (I work for the federal government) stating that I am a NM resident, all of which are valid proofs, according to their website. I couldn't bring anything else, because I live in a remote area and can only receive mail at my PO Box. The woman flipped through each and every one and said Nope, can't take this, can't take this, can't take this. Gave no reasons until I asked why. She said there was no address on my lease. I pointed it out, underlined, in the middle of the text. Then she said she couldn't accept the letter. I asked why and she said they just didn't accept them, but she would ask her supervisor. She came back and said they wouldn't. I asked why and she said they were from the same authority (I live in government housing). I said they were different documents from different departments that fell under different proofs according to their website, and finally asked to speak with her manager. Her manager just said "Noooo... we can't take that." They didn't seem to be familiar with their own guidelines for proof of residency. I kept repeating the item verbatim from the website and got blank looks. I asked them to pull it up on the website. She scanned it for ten minutes before she finally, reluctantly, came across the item I was speaking of. It was painful. She said she would ask HER manager. Finally, her manager told her that it would be okay to put it through. The service rep looked pissed and was rude and sullen while processing the Driver's license paperwork. I was glad I argued my case because not only the service rep but her manager were ignorant of their own guidelines and totally unwillling to help. When I go to register my car, I'll try the regular MVD, or go to Albuquerque to avoid nasty situations like these. read more

Its one thing when staff is unprepared but when management can't adequately staff this location on a Saturday, you've got real, structural problems. Their system shut down on the LAST DAY TO REGISTER TO VOTE. And rather than let their customers know the system was down, they let us sit there and wait for 20 min before telling us. When I asked when they expected it to start up again, they just shrugged their shoulders and said "maybe 5 min, maybe tomorrow." They did not readily offer alternative solutions to the problem. When I expressed frustration, one of the employees actually said "you're the one that waited until the last day to register." A few of the employees were friendly, but the few that were rude and eye rolling helped make an already frustrating experience much worse. Some advice for the employees with a lack of customer service skills, a little kindness and respect goes a long way. The MVD Express was neither convenient nor express. You are better off just going to the state office. read more

I have a broken ankle and have been on crutches for two weeks now. I have two children to take care of, I have to go to work, grocery shop, bathe, cook and hope my bone heals- basic necessities. I have to park far away from the MVD door because I do not have a handicap placard yet. The door is heavy and does not assist disabled people and I struggled to get inside. I present my signed doctor's note from my Orthopedic Surgeon. The worker says they will not give me a placard because the number of months I will be disabled is not filled out. Well this is undetermined because the doctor does not really know the answer. How long someone will be disabled from a broken ankle varies from person to person. The manager was not sympathetic and put he blame on the surgeon. He would not even give a temporary placard for a day or a week or two. Compassion and common sense should play a role in out state of New Mexico. Especially a place that distributes handicap placards. read more

Horrible experience here. Wanted to register my mother-in-law´s car. The woman who seems to run this place was impossible. I showed her a bank statement and a utility bill to prove her residence. She refused to accept the utility bill because it was overdue. She did not accept it as a bill. I had countless other proofs, but this lady seems to think she is a queen of the MVD. Do not go here, use instead the DMV on La Entrada. That is State run and so much more capable than these people here. Funny, the private MVD is so much less capable than the state run place. read more

I understand that service is relative and in this instance in comparison with the State MVD, but the MVD Express is mediocre at best - and their fees are outrageous, misrepresented and deceptive. Today I registered my new vehicle which I purchased out of state and was originally registered in that state. I have to say that it absolutely boggles my mind that an individual can go buy a gun in about 15 minutes and it takes multiple hours and exorbitant fees to register a vehicle. The whole process is archaic, anachronistic and totally a waste of the consumer's time. Yes, I started at the NM State MVD office in Santa Fe, and after two aborted trips due to the lengthy wait, I went to MVD Express. The wait time was marginally better but when you consider the fees charged, the term "Express" is a misrepresentation. Yes, they were mostly pleasant but the MVD Express failed to disclose the multiplicity of fees they charge to register an out-of-state vehicle. BEWARE: I paid $93 in strictly MVD Express fees not counting the government registration fees to register my car. They charged $31 (Express fee plus tax) to "request the original title be sent from the lien holder to MVD Express." They charged another $31 to walk out to my car, write down the VIN #, mileage, make and model which took all of less than 5 minutes; and they charged another $31 to finish the title registration paperwork. No where conspicuous in the Santa Fe office do they disclose or post their fees. I did not see or find a hard copy fee schedule. I was well into the transaction by the time I realized I was going to be charged separate fees for each step in the process. At that stage I was a hostage to the bureaucracy and could not start over since that office had my original out-of-state title. I was outraged but could not start over and waste even more time at the State MVD. However, I would recommend that NM residents call the State MVD and make an appointment and not use the private MVD Express, read more

Have never left a bad review until now. There is NOTHING EXPRESS about this place! I arrived with all my paperwork in order (from reading the requirements beforehand on the MVD Express website). A 5-minute wait turned into 30-minutes and then 60-minutes. Why? Because (1) the other customers who were ahead of me in line didn't bring the required documents. The MVD person helping them said "why don't you call them and have them email it to us?" Or, "Why don't you go out to your car and get it?" So, instead of helping the next person in line (me), they sat there while the customer was on the phone trying to get their info. And not quick calls, more like 15 minutes! If you don't arrive with the required documents, that is YOUR problem, and you should step aside while you are calling and let the next person get helped. The employees just sit and do nothing while this is going on. Completely inefficient way to do business, especially for a place calling itself "EXPRESS." (2) When my turn came up, the computers went down. "We don't know when they'll come back up. Could be 15 minutes. Could be longer." So after waiting one hour, I leave and come back later in the day. Same inefficiency, same uncaring attitude. THIS IS NOT FAIR TO PEOPLE WHO RESEARCH AHEAD OF TIME AND BRING THE CORRECT DOCUMENTS TO HAVE TO WAIT ON THESE PEOPLE!!!!! read more

Don't go. They were supposed to call me when they received my title, but never did. I had to call them. The people that work there are more interested in talking among themselves, then waiting on customers. They also wouldn't accept my power of attorney there. They had no clue as to what it even was. They said that is not usually a busy time but I went back the next morning and it was a much better time to go in. Dominique did an excellent job assisting me. This place is an F'ing rip-off. This "for-profit" company charges ridiculously high prices..they claim its "faster" than the state-owned MVD, but even if it is, its not worth the cost. GO to the regular MVD! The alaskan DMV charges $20 per license and $100 every 2 yrs for registration and no fees. If you're moving to NM from out of state, be prepared to shell out $300 just to get your license, plate, and tags, and this does NOT include an 8% "tax" on the blubook value of your car (e.g. a 10,000 value translates to $800!!!!), and if you havn't registered within the first 30 days of moving to NM, they charge an ADDITIONAL $100 late fee...buncha criminals. A perfect example of the Halliburtonization of a government service; privatize and charge ridiculously exhorbitant prices which end up in the pockets of a few rich guys who buy off politicians in order to operate. read more

I am feeling really frustrated with the service I received yesterday at the Santa Fe branch. The woman assisting me told me that she would not enter my name as it was printed on my legal, signed and stamped marriage license. She ridiculed me about moving my maiden name to the middle name position, saying that it was illegal to do so. My marriage license was accepted by the state of Oregon and the social security office also processesed it, so yes, its legal. She insisted in putting my maiden name AND my married name in the last name position on my license, essentially creating a fraudulent document. She ignored my pleas. I had to call back and talk to multiple people, finally getting Nia to agree to amend my license. The woman helping me raised her voice at an elderly woman who approached us with a question. Overall I am severely disappointed in the service I received. I will not be coming back for additional services in the future and cannot recommend this location to friends or family. read more

I went to MVD Express on Lohman in Las Cruces. They treated me horrible. I recently moved to this state and think most people here are wonderful and kind, but not at MVD Express. I waited a long time for my turn, but there is no set line, only pieces of paper to sign up on and no sign to tell you your number or how much longer it will be. I stepped outside for no more than a minute for an important phone call. I returned and waited again. After a while, I noticed everyone in the place who was being helped had come in after me. I inquired about it and was told I had missed my turn. I asked if they could help me next, since I had been there longer than anyone else and had signed up before anyone else. They said no, I would have to sign in again and wait behind everyone who arrived there after me. They were not at all understanding about it and treated me worse than I have ever been treated at the regular DMV, even though their signs lie and claim they treat customers with courtesy and a smile. This is not true at all. On top of that, I had to wait two months and work with the credit union where I used to live to have the title transfered, even though I have paid MVD Express fifty dollars so far for convenience fees to do this. They did nothing and informed me of nothing. I took care of making the transfer myself when MVD Express would not do their job and transfer it. They will not repay me for the service I paid for that they did not provide. And now, they are telling me they will not release my title and that if I go somewhere else, they will charge me to have my title returned to my home of record, and I will have to pay to have the entire process start over again. They are also charging me an extra $35 for a "VIN inspection", which consists of taking a second to walk to my car and look at the VIN number. MVD Express is nothing but a scam and full of employees who are very unfriendly and not helpful in any way. Not only are they not courteous, but they won't even do the job you are paying them extra to do. Do yourself a favor and go to the normal DMV. Don't get ripped off by going to MVD Express. read more

After a short 20 minute wait my wife and I were helped by someone who clearly did not know what she was doing. My wife and I were attempting to apply for NM Driver's licenses, we already had driver licenses from another state. We had produced an insurance bill and a bank statement with both our names on it as 2 required documents for NM residency. For some reason the bank statement was not accepted even though it is listed as one of the acceptable documents on MVD website. I also had my utility bill, but with only my name on it. I was advised by this representative to hand write a lease agreement for my wife stating that she lives with me and pays me rent whatever amount and to put down the mailing address on it as a proof on NM residency. They wouldn't accept an official bank statement, but would take some hand written note. I took my documents and went to state MVD where I was able to get everything accomplished in 30min. read more
