Stopped in for brunch here last Sunday with my husband. We were VERY impressed. The line was long, so we ordered our food for take-out. We got the Farmers special which is 3 Eggs, 2 Bacon, 2 Sausages, 2 Pancakes or 2 French Toast, Home Fries & Toast. It was more than enough food to feed the both of us, and its only $8! The home fries are perfectly seasoned and so delicious! Everything was warm, buttery, and cooked to perfection. A few too many cops eat there (one idiot fuzz getting after me because my 15 month old grabbed a knife--he started getting all authoritarian on me). Searching for a diner after moving to Boston, we stumbled upon My Diner just a short walk from our place. Unbelievable! Hadn't had a great diner breakfast in 12 years (lived outside US) and this trip made us remember that feeling of comfort. The turkey hash was such a treat with a bit of a sweet taste together with the smokiness of the roasted turkey. Yum! We have now begun ordering for delivery on weekdays at 6 am! Fast becoming regulars on the weekend to enjoy their fast service and smiling waitresses. A real homey feel in the city. Best in Boston. The eggs are real, unlike some places (mul's) the bacon is pretty good and is perfectly greasy. Haven't ever had better home fries anywhere. For 4 bucks you can't go wrong with the 3 eggs special. This is a hidden gem. I tend to go here once a week or so since I first went two years ago. read more

Went back here again the other day and the food was a complete 180 from our first experience. My omelette was much smaller, they were complete out of their house roasted turkey, which was one of the main reasons I came back! My toast was kinda stale tasting and cold, Andy waitress refused to let me substitute anything for the potatoes, which came out extra greasy and much less satisfactory than the first time we had them. My Diner is another great option for a greasy Saturday/Sunday morning breakfast in Southie. The atmosphere is nothing special and the tables are tightly packed, BUT, the food is really good! I understand why uniformed employees love this place, Police Officers, Fire Fighters, Construction Workers... I get it. They need something quick and like it to be cheap. They're on the move and time is rarely on their side. But regular Joes, how in the hell does this place appeal? I know that for $4 you can get an entire plate of food, that's impressive, especially in Boston, but what does it matter when it taste like this? I can't afford to start my day on a sour note. During the week I have work and school, during the weekends I have homework and free time... neither of those situations is conducive to starting my day off with mediocre at best breakfast (emphasis on the 'at best'). This morning I decided to head on over to My Diner because I took the day off to catch up on some school work (yet I'm writing long ass Yelp reviews). I figured buying breakfast would save me a lot more time than making it, plus, I was out of eggs. I call in my order, get dressed, and leave. Go figure, I get there and it isn't ready. Fine. I called in my order at 10 o'clock thinking "the work rush is over." Well, it was, for some reason however, they still hadn't gotten to my '2 pancakes and 2 eggs.' I asked if I could pay for my order while I wait, whip out my debit card and was then told that I had to order $10 worth of food to use my card. Wtf... really? An entire plate is $4 here, I'll have to order like two more breakfast plates. This is insane. Anyway, I decided to order my lunch instead. A $6 Garden Salad... I wasn't too happy with that because I know that a bag of salad at Whole Foods is $6 so why in the hell is my salad for one (that I can assure you is no Olivia's Organic Spring Mix) the same price? Whatever. Like I thought, she pulls some prepared to go box out of the refrigerator and puts it in a bag. I'm thinking "that shit wasn't made this morning," but again, whatever. Well, guess what guys, my damn pancakes still aren't ready. Obviously I finally got that short stack (like really short... I only ordered two. That's one more than one--you like that math don't you?). I get home and discover something very disgusting. These fools have gone and thrown the eggs on top of the two pancakes! Who the hell does that? They had cheese on them too so now I have cheesy pancakes. They also forgot my syrup. And why would they put an entire slice of cheese on two eggs that when scrambled resemble one? I basically had a little egg with my cheese. And that salad... day old lettuce in a doggie box (but not fit for a dog). I couldn't be more underwhelmed by my experience with My Diner. read more

I work near MyDiner and I come here for either breakfast or lunch. Breakfast is always delicious and simple! Love it. As for lunch, it's delicious too but not too many options for vegetarians but..it's also a classic diner and the rest of the their food is SO good and cheap that it makes up for it!! read more

First time trying this place and was not disappointed. There are no reservations but it only took about 15 minutes to wait in the line to seat a party of four. I ordered and enjoyed the spinach, tomato, and feta omelet. Next time I will order the my famous French toast it looked delicious! I will also consider take out. read more

Definitely a Southie-feel kind of diner. I came here on a Saturday morning and the place was filled with locals...namely policemen and firemen, etc. We found a table and our waitress was super friendly and helped us right away, despite the diner being really busy. I ordered eggs and bacon, with a side of french toast, and both were decent for the price. Only downside is that it's in a semi-obscure location that's hard to get to if you're not driving. I came here on a snowy day and had to walk from the Broadway train station. Almost got a little lost, but managed to find the diner. read more

Came here on a weekday, late morning. No wait but there were still plenty of folks enjoying breakfast. The food was fantastic! the homefries were delish and they definitely did not skimp on the filling to my bacon and cheese omlette. My husband said his corned beef hash was seasoned so well he didn't have to add any salt and/or pepper; always a good sign. The prices are outstanding, especially considering the heaping portions. Sought out this place due to Yelp reviews when I was in town for a beer festival. This place is what I picture and expect a diner to be...Kind of small with tables close together, the standard fare of breakfast and lunch at reasonable prices. Found this place after we became a fan of Muls. We then migrated over to A street diner aka My diner. It's significantly easier to get in and out of and don't have to wait outside when it's packed. People move in and out quickly. They have a great assortment of items on the menu. There french toast is like none other. The use actual french bread which can be topped with fresh fruit. The same 2-3 waitresses are always there and are very on top of coffee refills and attentive to your table. read more

i've passed this place so many times and thought i'd check it out. Oh... It's inexpensive but I'd rather pay more for better diner food. Eggs weren't cooked as I asked, home fries were hard like apples (under cooked) and the toast was Smothered with butter when i asked for no butter. Do not be afraid of the location, it's not as bad as it looks. I was a little nervous at first because I'm not from the area but decided to be adventurous. In any event, the food was decent, nothing spectacular. There were six of us, the wait wasn't too bad (about 10 minutes). Four of us ordered the egg benedict with the corned beef hashed, the egg benedict were all overcooked. I tried this diner the other day and it was amazing from the food to the service so I decided to go back and have breakfast this morning. I don't like to do this but I need to. I walked into the restaurant and was looked at and completely ignored then the waitress told me just sit down. She stood at the counter instead of coming over to the table to take my drink order. Then I noticed she went over to every table except for mine and ignored my table until I asked for a to go box. Poor service and no one should get an attitude for wanting to have breakfast. What is wrong with with people today honestly. We all talk about being nice to each other and we all want the world to be a better place but how can we get ahead when you just have complete ignorant people like the server I had today. Life lesson don't be ignorant because you never know who it is and treat people the way you want to be treat unless you think it's ok to treat people like crap but it's not ok! My money is green just like everyone else's and I work at a restaurant and if I treated someone the way the server did to me of course they wouldn't be back and I won't go back after this mornings experience. I would like to go and enjoy my breakfast somewhere else instead of being judged and being uncomfortable. read more

Best diner in Melrose; they have really good food, but the best is the tofu scramble with veggies and cheese. Lots of vegan and vegetarian options, and for meat eaters the corned beef hash is very fresh. read more

I love their breakfast, and you can't beat the prices. The turkey dinner is another favorite of mine. Enough to share, or have leftovers. Very friendly & efficient staff. However, the pancakes at Mull's are better. Much better, I'm sad to say. But if you're not in the mood for pancakes, everything else on the menu is awesome. read more
