Very welcoming and good recommendations for skincare. She has a public kiosk location type at Federal Plaza in Rockville as well as a more private location in her home near Aspen Hill area. I've tried both and have not been disappointed. I needed my brows shaped before a family event and she was able to accommodate as late as 8pm in her home office location. First off, I've been getting my eyebrows done for over a decade, literally since I was a child. I've never had an issue with the person doing my brows talking on the phone, but this woman did not even give me the decency to pause her conversation for a moment to even speak to me. She just kept motioning as if I was supposed to know what to do, even though it was my first time there. And again, I couldn't care less if you're on the phone, as long as your work doesnt show that you were distracted by that. My eyebrows look horrible. And i truly believe it was because she couldn't stop her conversation for just two moments to properly do my eyebrows or even just ask me what I wanted. I came here once maybe 1-2 years ago for eyebrow threading and remember it being decent, though they don't have a storefront (you're out in the hallway for everyone to see) and they do not accept card. Today, I called here to inquire the price for a service, since there is no website. The lady who answered was extremely rude and began yelling at me. She said, "Do you want to make an appointment or do you just want to ask me the prices!?" She then told me to come to the salon and we could discuss. I'm not sure what that meant, but I certainly don't feel safe going to her salon to receive further yelling. Following this, she said loudly, "Have a blessed day" and hung up. Given the number of other salons in the area to choose from, there's no reason to go here and get yelled at. Prices are not very competitive (full face threading is $37, and full arm waxing is $60), and frankly, yelling at customers for asking a question is unacceptable. If I'm going to pay for a service, I deserve transparent pricing. And if you don't want to answer questions about prices, create a website. Also, only cash is accepted, which is not convenient. Take your business elsewhere. She lost a potential lifelong customer. read more

Bimala is great at her job, but she's not always reliable. She doesn't stick to the office hours (I've dropped by a couple times and her door was closed), but she is quick to respond to phone calls (will call back shortly after I leave a message). One time, I was a little confused when she responded to my call saying she would be there and somebody else was threading in her suite. I'm not sure what happened there, but her replacement did a great job anyway. I was a little uneasy beforehand because I'm placing my eyebrows into somebody's else hands. Bimala is awesome!!!! I moved here from California, where I was a 10+ year loyal customer to an amazing woman, and I was very hesitant to put my brows into someone else's hands. I went on a Friday afternoon, couldn't figure out where the place was (stupid google maps), called Bimala and she easily directed me to her salon. When I got there, there was no wait, she was very friendly and talkative. I apprehensively sat down in the chair and let her do her thing. Let me tell you, I was NOT disappointed. In the past when I would randomly see a new eyebrow threader, I'd have pictures ready to show them. I didn't get the chance to show Bimala how I wanted my eyebrows yet when she finished and I looked in the mirror I was so happy to find that she shaped them EXACTLY how I wanted!! I always leave Bimala with beautifully groomed brows. She operates out of the Salon Plaza in Wheaton Mall (a mall-within-a-mall cluster of small beauty businesses: ingenious idea!). She has a nice private room to herself, is friendly, and takes the time to do a great job. Eyebrows are $10 which is super reasonable by DC-area standards. If you're around Aspen Hill in the mornings, she works out of her home, and then is at Wheaton in the afternoons. Call before going so you know where she is. And she accepts cards! I seen this place on yelp and read so many good reviews about Bimala so I placed a call. Mind you this is on valentine's day, I called around 12:50 pm and she picked up and was so nice! She told me she was available now and also without me asking if I knew where she was located and offered very good direction. Her shop is number #124 in the salon plaza at wheaton mall. Pros: Does a fast job Cons: She didn't ask me how I wanted my brows, she just straight up starting threading them how she wanted. Does not keep to her timing. Used to be good. I'm very picky about trying new places since I moved and she had become my favorite in the area till I had gone in today. She was on the phone when I walked in on time for my appt and took her sweet time to get off the phone. Completely thinned my eyebrows telling me they were too long and ruined the shape. Hands down the best eyebrow threading experience I've had. Usually, threading is painful for me, to the point where my eyes feel like they're swelling out of control and the off switch for the tears is broken. However, my experience here was completely PAINLESS. The esthetician, Sita, was thoughtful in the way she cleaned and shaped my brows. She even went so far as to give me tips on maintaining them after the threading session. My eyebrows have never looked better- I even got a stamp of approval from my mother (so you know this place is legit!). I didn't have an appointment and was attended to quickly. I want to start off by saying that I been going to Bimala for many months now to get my eyebrows threaded. I agree that she does a good job and the prices are pretty reasonable. Unfortunately, I am giving her a bad rating not because of the threading but because of her henna work. She had always mention to me that she also did henna so today I decided to give her a try. Worst decision ever! She did a really bad job. Like REALLY bad! Pictures to prove how bad it looks. When I called her to ask if I could go back so that she could fix it, she quickly said nothing could be done not even a money refund and then hung up on me. Totally UNPROFESSIONAL! Did I mention I paid $15 for something that isn't even considered artwork? This is not my first time getting Henna so I know that she pretty much scribbled on my hand and now I have to live with it for the next 14 days. She should stick to what she is good at which is threading. As a customer I think she handled the situation extremely unprofessional and because of that I am never going back to her again! read more

I just want to say that this is a GREAT place to get your eyebrows done. I've seen Bimala before a couple of times and she always made my brows look good. It was nice while it lasted. Now, why the two stars off? I stopped coming here long time ago because she would always comment on my acne every time I would come in. I am very self-conscious about my acne and how my face looks in general so it bothered me that she would never drop the subject whenever I'm there. I entertained her a bit the first two times I went to get my brows done but then it became a bit aggravating and sort of ruined my self-esteem a bit. I am guessing part of the reason why she's showing concern is because she also does skincare so I guess this is her way of promoting her other services. However, I really do not appreciate having the conversation revolve around a condition that I can only do so much to control. Granted, I haven't actively told her that she was bothering me with her comment so I should have said something, but I am a shy person by nature and I prefer to avoid any type of conflict. Nowadays, I am getting my brows done at a kiosk not too far from there. They are not exactly the best, but if I can go to them and avoid conversation revolving around my face, then I will. Overall, she does great work and I would recommend her to anyone looking to get their brows well done. But if you are suffering from borderline severe acne, I would think twice. read more

I love Bimala. I've been seeing her for about 5 years. I have followed her where ever she has moved. She is so friendly and caring. She always asks about me and my family and shares stories with me. I am very low maintenance in terms of my beauty regimen and pretty much getting my eyebrows threaded is all I do. She does such a good job and I feel like a new woman every time I leave her salon. If you want EYELASH EXTENSIONS done professionally--STAY AWAY from this place, simply not her specialty. I requested the faux mink full-set lashes, however, I honestly do not believe that was what I got. From the initial conversation Bimala, the owner, tried selling me on lashes other than I requested she went on to say that her customers like the lashes that only cost $35, take less time to apply and last about a week, I was not interested in any other lashes except the faux mink full-set lashes which I wear often, they take more time to apply, cost more and last 4-6 weeks longer unless professionally removed. My experience: her technique was different than I'd experienced, as she was applying the lash extensions my eyes started to burn from the glue I told her that my eyes had started to burn and her technique was not what I was use to I started to ask questions about how she was applying the lashes I could sense the questioning made her a bit nervous or irritable. I asked questions at every step because of my discomfort and concerned for my safety. I could tell she started to hurry the process. Upon completion of my left eye the lashes were sparse and were not full-set, a few of the lashes fail out next day, also lashes on the right eye were longer than on the left. After an overnight review I called next day and told her that I believed the lashes were applied improperly she agreed to refill the left eyelashes. An appointment was made for two days later after which I left town for a wedding, upon return exactly one week later I went to see Ms. Bimala so that she could see for herself the result of improper lash extension work she had done, she saw that a few of the lashes had again fallen out, stated that everyone is different and offered to refill for $50 or remove for $10. I requested free removal of lashes, free refill of lashes or refund of money. She was unwilling to do any one of these options without pay. I refused to pay additional for services that weren't professional to begin with She should have been willing to negotiate refund. As a business woman I consider this poor customer service! read more
