Doug came out for an estimated. I damaged 2 panels of my large 2 car garage. Doug told me that my hinges are made of plastic and the panels are old and I need to replace them all. I went with My Garage Guys as I appreciate the fact the owner of was no-nonsense and not trying to up-sell me on parts or services I didn't need. I told him I was a bit desperate because we were leaving town the next day and I could not lift the door open. He stopped by jut to help me get the door open so I could get my car out even though his schedule was swamped. We when got back in town he fixed our garage door quickly and for a great price. Doug came out and, of course, we could not duplicate the problem. He checked a few things and then figured it was the gear drive. He had to order one and said he would be back on a specified day. On two separate occasions I have used My Garage Guys and owner Doug took care of my garage needs. Both times have been super easy to schedule and Doug always tries to accommodate his customer's schedule. Having this flexibility is a wonderous quality that I appreciate. His service on both visits was superb and his prices were fair which are definitely amazing qualities for a service provider. My initial problem was to replace a dead circuit panel in my opener. I got quotes from a couple other service providers and none were close to his and both wanted to come and see the problem first before providing a quote; and of course have a service charge for the diagnostic. Doug gave me the best quote over the phone after I explained to him the issue and he knew immediately what the problem was. I sent him a picture of the opener and the circuit board and he was able to order the replacement part in time for his visit. During his repair he explained why the board failed due to springs needing replaced because they couldn't handle the load weight of the door. He explained the issue perfectly and we setup a plan to have the springs replaced. He came out this week to replace the springs and the cracked board/pad the springs and opener are mounted to as it was cracked. After the repair he lubricated all of the doors on my property at no extra cost. Will definitely be using My Garage Guys for any future garage needs! I woke up on a Saturday morning only to find that during the night a spring in my garage door broke. I had no way to get my garage door open or either one of my cars out of the garage. After calling Doug and explaining my problem I expected he would tell me an outrageous price to come out the "same day" and fix it, boy was I surprised. Not only was the price reasonable but he assured me he would be at my house within two hours and have me back up and running. I found this business on yelp. I do not normally use a business that has no reviews but I did not have a lot of choices. I like the fact that they are "family owned" or so they say. I called them up and they quoted me a decent price to replace the sprocket and later showed up when they said they would. They called me back and said that I needed to replace the spring with two springs and change all of the rollers. I have experienced this before and did not feel too bad about that. However the price they quoted me was way higher than I have paid elsewhere in the past and higher than other quotes I recently got. So I said no. Because of this they really let me know that they could not warranty the work several times. They sounded irritated that I would not do what they said. This is when I lost trust. Later they told me they were done and we settled up. After this I called my tenant who actually lives there. I came to find out that she (an auto-mechanic for over 25 years) had to remove the master link from the chain to be able to open the door. However, the master link was nowhere to be found and they did not have one on their truck. My tenant was baffled by this because as a technician you always have every part that you may need with you. What this means is they left without testing their work. The owner said he has never had to replace the master link "in all his years of doing this"....my tenant said he was at best in his late 20's. She then called other places and they all had master links on their trucks. My tenant said she felt like they did not want to do anything else after I did not want to do the other work and their attitude really changed for the worse. She asked if she could you the master link from her bike but they said no and were very condescending....(she is and auto mechanic 25 years). After she put the master link on from her bike chain even with her arthritis and it works fine. I am writing this review about a month later and I still have not received the invoice they said they would email me. I won't be calling this place again. read more
