Owners have changed for this business, current owners are pretty good at pricing, quality of the products and service.

The owner is a stealer by nature. He will not let go any any opportunity to take the money out of your pocket by any possible mean. From charging you more on your card. By trying not to give you the receipt on the first place. Weighing the items short is a norm here. Charge you way more for an item hoping that you will miss it and if you catch him, he will make an apology. Worst desi seller that I've experienced. These guys are exceptionally good. Always polite on phone and for a negligible fee even dropped my order at the door. We've tried thier curry cuts, ready to cook- tandoori chicken and lamb kebab both were good. Instead of frying them we oven cooked the tandoori and kebab and turned out better than what I've had in restaurants here in US. read more

I'm not sure what everyone here is talking about in terms of these guys being con artists. After being bookmarked for a while, I finally decided to stop by this place instead of calling up Minar on golf for my standard order. I had no idea if they had pre marinated or not, but I just stopped in. And tony surprise there was tons of pre marinated stuff. Boneless thighs and breast kebabs and a couple pieces of tandoori quarters is what I ended up with. As for those suggest the scheming ways of this fella, I guess I got lucky. In fact I thought I underpaid. The same at the other place costs $4.99 pound and I paid $2.99 here. I hope this isn't a case of u get what u pay for. But so far after grilling it all up, I'm feeling ok. I guess I'll have to give this place a few more tries and will update if he cons me. read more

I'm not sure why people are giving bad reviews. I've been getting meat from this store for 2 years. I've ordered everything from Chicken, several cuts of beef and goat. He always asks me how much fat I want in the ground products. I like it becomes sometimes you want fat in the burger meat and sometimes you only want a very little. Plus he always asks how big of kabob chunks you want -be it small medium or large. I don't get that kind of service at the other places! It's always fresh right then and there and packaged to the way I want it. I know he gets 3 shipments of fresh meat a week so you would never get anything old or bad. The store is always very clean and never smells like the other stores do. He moved to Hoffman Estates now to a bigger store. He's always been fair and square with everything we've ever ordered and the meat taste delicious! You can surely tell the difference. read more

Here's what you need to know: the quality of their meat has gone down, there is possible skimming on the weight you pay for, and majority of what you pay for is bones. It saddens me to write this because I used to love "My Halal Meat" a few years ago, and would even drive out 20 miles each way to patronize this meat shop. However, things have taken a dramatic turn for the worse over the last few years. First of all, the meat isn't as fresh tasting as it used to be; it could be because the turnaround/sales are not as frequent which leads to vicious circle of having to hold on to meat longer and eventually selling it to the customers days later. Recently my wife ordered a couple lbs of goat meat, which is pricey at almost $10/lb, but in reality we ended up paying way more. Majority of what she brought home was bones. Yup, I don't mean 20% or 30% of the weight was bones... I mean about 60% of the weight was bones. Moreover, we weighted the packet at home (with the bones) and it was nowhere close to the 2 lbs we paid for (closer to 1.3 lbs). I am convinced this has become the normal dishonest practice at this business based on other reviewers I've recently read on Yelp. When my wife did call back and challenged the store on the lesser product we received, she was given some nonsense story about "oh well, we trimmed it (even though that was never discussed with us) so the weight went down". The truth is trimming the fat reduces the weight in an already lean cut by less than 10%, not by dramatic amounts as in our case. Resultantly, we ended up paying about $16-$17 for average to below average quality goat meat; That is a travesty. We will never patronize the business again, which is tragic because we liked the owner, who is charming and engaging. But no value in that if his business is dishonest. read more

It's overpriced as compared to anyone in the area by $.050 to $1.50 per pounds depending on the kind of meat.Their meat is not good quality it was old and smelly!!! I placed an order in the last week, and writ down comments "don't cut viscera never" they sent me worst baby goat i have seen, the liver & "head" were cut, it was not fresh i return it back i ordered other one with no cut it at all & they sent me again another also it was not fresh & they charged me extra 19$ because it had have more 5 lb , thats mean the first one was not complete baby goat, i cooked a part of the goat. it was very bad it was hard( not smooth) & dark in color after cooking After that i threw whole goat in the trash. Just picked up two chicken boti kabobs, and 2 tilapia ... This is my 3td dinner order in a month, while I'm glad I didn't check reviews with my 1st visit, it's disappointing to learn of their bad reviews. I've had Great experience and amazing customer service. I find the owners very helpful, today I tried to order lamb which the owner advised me not to buy unless I'm cook it tonight. At another occasion owners advised me on amazing fish marinate and shared his quick recipe even though he sells those fish at the shop. I believe the owners have learned their lesson and drastically improved service. I highly recommend my halal; go ahead give them another shot! You'll be surprised.... read more

Yeah I don't get all the gripes here. Their marinated meats are amazing. Around $5-5 per pound of well marinated meat is worth it to me. The tandoori and tikka both taste great cooked and broiled. Can't wait to gill them even. Their own concostion, beef pasanda, is also quite good but not as spicy as the other meats. The less adventurous can try their ground meat kababs which are also good. read more

We've ordered chicken from this place three times, and only once was it clean and the actual weight. The first time the chicken was filled blood and fat, when we specifically asked for it to be cleaned. The second time, my wife had to request the owner to clean it properly multiple times and that's how we actually got him to do it. The third time, it was bad as always. The owner does not care for more business. He has bluntly told me to go elsewhere if I don't like the way he sells meat. We only go here on emergency occasions. He doesn't even give you a copy of your receipt unless you ask. The owner has been rude on multiple occasions. He thinks he will get the business regardless. I was looking for a place that offered meat/chicken that was cleaned and fat was removed. I went to this place and got 5 lbs. of chicken legs and quarters. When I brought it home I had to still had to spend 20 mins cleaning the chicken but not only that the chicken smelled bad (due to either being not fresh or not Zabiha as they claim). Anyway I pay the same amount of money at Shamiana and their chicken does not smell so I will be going back to them from now on. read more

I just order some meat , a total of 22 dollars. I gave the lady my American express, she said they would charge an additional $6. I asked why and she explained it was American Express and the way it was set up. What a bunch of BS. I own 3 businesses, I have never heard of this nonsense. This place wants rip people off. And now the product, my friend had a barbecue at his house we had 3 tray of chicken legs,3 trays chicken kabab and 2 tray of steak. We had the meat sit out all day as it was hot. The meat smelt fine and it looked good, but it made my dog sick! Bummer.

On the surface the owner is polite but he will find way to charge extra whenever and wherever he can. I ordered a whole goat leg made into ground meant along with the bones from the leg. When I got home, I received little more bones than meat. Furthermore, the bones were from the spine of the goat, not the leg. This is a very dishonest merchant. I stop by this little shop about twice a month on my way home from work. I am greeted with a friendly "hello" by Ayaz every time I come. The selection of what I can eat is limited because I'm a vegetarian, but I absolutely love the veggie samosas and the veggie puffs. One time when they were out, Ayaz offered to take my phone number and called when the fresh batch came in. Just this past week I showed up to get some samosas and they only had a couple left. He ended up giving them to me for free because he was getting a fresh batch later that day. I think he goes above and beyond in terms of customer service! read more

Under the weighing machine he keeps magnet ( i know you think this is olden days indian style, he still continues) 3. Bought baby goat meat 2 times, the actual meat was less quantity, half of them were bones..!!! Dont go here..

they mix goat meat with beef.. don't go there con artist. i got goat meat from them worth 50 bucks. we normally eat the meat very soft and the goat pieces were very soft and coming out of the bone line anything. but few pieces were like still pieces of rubber and that's when i realized that there is a scam. moreover i have rashes all over the body and face after eating meat from there. please refrain from going there if you have any religious restriction regarding kind of meat. i wish i could sue them but i don't have the proof enough yet. read more

Meat quality Sucks. Owner is basically selling meat that has very little flesh and too much bones and uneatable pieces. Not satisfied with his quality and his looks are very convincing. I complained about his meat and owner totally disagree and come up with some stupid logic. For instance if you tell him that crow color is black, and he would strongly disagree. Purchased 'Rohu' fish from here .. Unlike other places I have shopped throughout USA you don't get to choose the fish you buy .. You wait and the chopped fish is given to you .. Nevertheless I took a leap of faith and bought it .. The fish turned out to be a very old stock and had a strange unnatural smell to it .. The meat not oily at all and was dry and broke apart while frying .. Had a bad taste in my mouth and smell in my nose while eating .. Did not eat the whole and decided to get rid of the rest we had .. I would definitely not recommend buying fish from here .. Not an honest fish seller for sure .. I am a Bengali and I know fish .. I love halal chicken in general but could never find a clean halal store in the NJ area. Once we moved to IL, we were pleasantly surprised to find "My Halal Meat". The store looks clean, meat is cheap, owner is professional and they also light incense sticks to rid the store of raw meat smells. All good. However, I really didn't want to but have to give this place one star because I have noticed consistently that 1) the halal chicken does not have the blood properly drained out as it is supposed to be and 2) even if you request for chicken without fat, you have to spend a whole lot of time cleaning it out at home. read more

This meat is good quality, real halal, organic meat. I have cooked various different dishes with it and it has always been fresh and great meat. I think this poor business's rating on Yelp is low because of fake bad reviews that the competitors are leaving. (Proof - check the reviewers' profiles - most of them have left only 1-2 reviews and they have poor English with American names). The meat does NOT smell bad at all! Anyways, the customer service is great. I sometimes call in to tell them what I want and then pick it up later and they have it ready and packaged for me. They also cut it and package it the way I request. It is on the expensive side but it's the only place I believe is proper halal meat, the organic and ethical way, so I will continue to be going here.
