This place is great!! Friendly staff, mailed reminders, and trustworthy. My entire family brings their cars here. I even bring my car here for oil changes because I've been burned at Jiffy Lube a few times. Any car need I consult My Mechanic. I feel very unsettled about the work that I had done at my mechanic, I brought my 2006 Chevy trailblazer in for a front brake job and to diagnose why my check engine light was on. I got a quote back for $950 to fix my front brakes, the mechanic told me that my calipers were sticking and that they would have to be replaced? I was going to bite the bullet and have them fixed anyways giving them the benefit of the doubt. Until I received a quote for $4500 on my check engine light issue? They told me that my timing chain had slipped and that it would be 18 hours of labor to fix that? Along with about 30 other things? That being said my 2006 vehicle is not worth that much money. So now I was thinking that I was going to have to basically scrap my truck and buy new one! Thank God I got a second opinion I had my rotors and pads changed and two new front tires put on my truck for $600 at my normal mechanic shop he also diagnosed my vehicle and told me that if my timing chain had slipped my truck would be running rough, it's actually purring like a kitten. So basically I paid $155 for an oil change and for them to tell me that my truck is garbage. I would just be very Cautious when you bring your vehicle to a mechanic shop that you do not know and trust? I'm not interested in bashing this mechanic shop I'm sure they do somethings fine but it just was not for me? read more

ZERO STARS! This place has gone down hill in the last few years. The work has been crap and I've had to bring my car back to get it done right once and brought my car to another shop the second time. I brought my car home last time and I got a total flat tire the next day which cost me a hundred bucks for the new tire on top of the ridiculous high prices charged for the crappy work. What I find disgusting is they use old used car parts that are reconstructed and they charge you for new part prices!!! That is just sleezy. This place is way expensive for not quality work anymore. Also, I went here for years and even sent people to him, After making thousands of dollars off my family and who knows how much from the people I sent over....there has never been a this oil change is on us. Thanks for being a good customer. All he cares about is the money and he over charges for bad parts and bad mechanic work. It used to be a good place when Mike actually did the work. There are plenty of other places that do better work at fairer prices that actually appreciate your business and have good customer service. When our family mechanic of 20 years closed up shop and retired to Las Vegas, we had to find another mechanic to keep our fleet of almost junkers running. This place has been really good to us so far (we have only gone a few times in the last 4 months). He run tests for us for free (probably because he knows we will be good business) and explains cheaper solutions for problems before going in and doing something that costs $600. This was my first visit and based on positive reviews I thought I would give them a try. The shop is clean and they were pretty busy but they took my son's car in on the same day. The first thing they do is a thorough inspection which is simply to advise you what components are showing wear and was not a hard sell. They diagnosed the problem on my son's car, took it for a test drive and were unable to duplicate the noise that the left rear brake had been making. They did say that they blew out some debris through the vents in the drum, which may have solved the problem. I took it for a long test drive and was unable to duplicate the problem as well. Because they didn't pull the brake drum off and the inspection was complimentary, they refused payment for the assessment which accounted for several hours of work. The front desk person was friendly and capable and Andy was great. I will definitely be heading back to MyMechanic for routine or non-routine repairs in the future. read more

We had an old Honda Accord that he kept in great condition, until it just wasn't worth putting any more money into. I had an issue with my transmission. They sent it to a transmission repair shop, however I learned that I needed to get it to a dealership in order to receive a discount on repairs. When I called to let them know I needed to transfer the vehicle they didn't charge me a cent for the time they spent on the car which included a long drive to the transmission shop since the car wouldn't go over 20 miles an hour. First of all, I never leave reviews, but this place was so great I just had to take the time. I live in Des Moines, IA but have to come in to Oak Brook every so often for work. After spending all day in a work meeting, my coworker and I are in the car about to make the 5 hour drive back home when I hit a pothole. I could tell the tire was damaged so we decide that it's best to get it checked out before heading out. At this point it's almost 5:00 and I was worried about finding a place that was open. My Mechanic showed up as the closest place so we head that way. We walk in a half hour before close and I explained our situation. I knew coming in so close to closing was a pain and they were obviously busy. But the guy behind the counter said they would see what they could do. Turned out that the tire was unsalvageable and since it was so late it looked like we would be spending another night in town before we could get it fixed. Rather than trying to sell me a new tire themselves, they recommended a place that was nearby that would probably be faster. They also took the time to show me exactly how my tire was damaged and put on my spare, all without charge. These guys are the real deal: honest, polite, and great customer service! read more

I took my car in yesterday to get some lights replaced. I asked for Mike, the owner, and Alex was very degrading to me and was kind of an ass. He told me that "I don't have to ask for Mike we are all a team". I belong to a family that has brought our four cars to My Mechanic for years to get maintenance and was not happy with the way Alex treated me. The work they do is great but if you have someone like Alex helping customers and taking to women in a degrading way, that's not a way to do business. If a customer asks to see the owner, regardless of what an employee things, they should alert the owner and ask if they can help me while I wait for the owner to come and speak to me instead of telling me not to ask for the owner. read more

I brought in my 2001 Honda Civic to see why "check engine" was on. They charged a little over $100 for the diagnostic. Fine. It took them an hr, so they charged me for an hr. (although my car was out of use for the whole day) I could not afford the repair, so I went to Auto Zone. They tested it with their electronic tester FOR FREE and gave me the SAME printed results in less than 10 min. I went back to My Mechanic and asked for an explanation. The owner explained to me that his testing method was much more involved and accurate.... but same results were free at Auto Zone. Rip off!! read more

My husbands family had gone there for years without a problem. When his parents moved and he took the truck in they called and told him his brake lines were about to snap and they needed to be replaced. At a very expensive price we paid for this service. After we got the truck home it was leaking brake fluid, they never properly attached the brake lines and then when we took it back they wanted to charge us to fix the problem. The second issue of the day was that my father is a mechanic who does not work in the private sector, but for a village. He was changing my brakes this weekend or he would have changed my husbands. When we told him what they changed the brake lines he blew a gasket and went over there, because we had been ripped off. The brake lines where fine they had been replaced a year ago. Needless to say we have stopped going there for anything because we can no longer trust if the repair is needed or will be done properly. read more

I know cars and I work on my own cars as much as I can. I enjoy it and I have done it for 30 years. So I know mechanics and I know what to look for in a knowledgeable and flexible shop. I took my very specialized car to them recently for work I cannot do, an alignment. Alignments are easy with the right equipment and they have that. Alignments are also tricky to get right, and they got it right. I am very pleased. I was also pleased that they took the time to get to know me and took the time to listen to my peculiar requests.
