Had a great experience here yesterday when I brought my car in for a battery replacement. I was dreading having to take the car in because of bad prior experiences with dishonest auto shops (in Maryland). However, the excellent service provided exceeded my expectations and they have earned my business for any other car trouble I may run into in Houston. I made an appointment the day before. When I arrived, they had an open bay waiting and got to work right away. They outlined what they were going to do and had me approve it before they started working. The waiting room is comfortable, clean and pleasant. They had to get the battery from another place in town, and when that was taking longer than expected, they were very apologetic even though it was the fault of the supplier, not them. Since it was going to take longer than expected, Peter even offered to drive me home (just down the road). They did not try to sell me additional services or tell me anything else was wrong with my car. The pricing was also very reasonable. My Mechanic was helpful and respectful. Had just an installation of a starter, mechanic never showed up, i had to text him asking where he was, stated he was with another client and would contact me when he was headed over, never did. It's my first time to do an oil change here. I've had great experience here in regards to staff's attitudes, waiting time and price. I went there on Monday afternoon, waited for like an hour and got my oil changed. I waiting is not unbearable especially in a cozy tiny lounge with TV showing a funny movie. The price is reasonable since I've used the same kind of oil last time but 10 bucks more expensive. I also used the $10 coupon for the service. So that's also a plus star, lol. I've been going here on and off for the past two years ever since my car has come off manufacturer's warranty. The manager, Vince Trainor, has always been friendly and courteous to me. He takes time in explaining the problem(s) if there are any and offering his honest opinion. Mostly I've come in for maintenance - oil changes, 50,000 mile inspection, and the state inspection. I've also ordered tires through them and had them replace my worn down ones. My Mechanic offers a complementary shuttle which I've taken advantage several times and had them drop me off at work while I retrieved my car later in the day. My only bad experience was a bad oil change job. I had driven out of state so couldn't get them to rectify the situation and had motor oil leak all over the driveway. Mazda's require a proprietary Mazda oil filter wrench and some places don't have the tool. This was the third place I've gone to where I've had oil leak out so now I just take my car to the dealership. The last great experience was very recent. My car had been making creaking noises and I was worried that it may be a worn down ball joint. The Mazda dealership was going to charge $105 just to diagnose the problem. Ridiculous! My Mechanic looked at it for free and determined it wasn't a critical issue. Terry was the technician that worked with me on the problem. He was very professional and explained the issue to me and even showed me a diagram of my car's suspension to boot so I could visualize it. The website has coupons you can print too. read more

I am so pleased to know that there is a reliable auto shop so close by. I trust my mechanic to take care of my car, provide a great service, and charge a great price. I expected the prices to be higher based on the area, but I was shocked at how reasonable they were! After getting an estimate, they found out that my vehicle needed extra work but they didn't charge me for it! Peter is great, he's so friendly and down to earth. Everyone I've worked with in the office has had a great sense of humor and has been in a great mood. Even when they are busy, they make an effort to make each costumer feel welcome and important. Dropped off my 2010 Honda with them. I needed Transmission fluid change. I asked them to check my brakes. Work was finished within time promised. Brakes were reviewed good, and I was told I overfilled the air in a couple of tires. I was impressed. Yes, it is not as cheap as a 3 man shop in the industrial part of town. It's probably the complexity of vehicles or the challenges of communicating effectively but I found it impossible to get a straight answer regarding scheduling, prices or labor rates. A simple ball park guess at cost would be ok. There's no legal requirement to charge only what is GUESSED at during a phone call but probably snowflakes that expect cheap work done with instant gratification have probably created a fear of saying anything about anything for fear of sniveling butthurt from the entitled. I own my service business and I get asked the "ball park estimate" question every fuggin day. I simply answer with a figure that's 99% of the time is much more than the usual priceso when the final tab comes in, the customer is happy because it wasn't as high as the guess. Are you paying attention Franklin? It won't break your balls to throw out non-committal prices and guesses with the caveat that the work MAY be more. Geez read more

1 star isn't even close to accurate, but it's the lowest choice. I dropped my Lexus off 2 weeks ago. I made it clear multiple times that it was time sensitive because my lease is ending. I was assured of a timely fix. All body work, nothing wrong with the motor or anything. A few days later, I get a call that it's finished. I pay the deductible and when I get the car back it's only half finished. I point this out and they assure me (it's Friday) that it will be fixed by Monday. I Get no call on Monday, so I called on Tuesday. They say it can be picked up Thursday. They call me Thursday and I go get it. The manager says that he has personally looked at every fix with his own eyes. I take it home. and find that the under side bumper is still completely scratched up and hasn't been touched.So he lied right to my face. So I take it back and he makes an excuse that he has a bad back and can't get that low. So why tell me you looked at it then? So it has been 2 weeks and my lease is due back today at 5pm. I was told that it would finally be finished today at 12. I just got a call and was told it might be ready by 3. I'm not holding my breath. I have called the regional manager and left multiple messages over the last few days and have yet to get a return call. NEVER use this shop. Seriously. They could care less once they get your car in their hands. Update: finally had the regional manger contact me between 12 and 3 when I went for pickup. He was very nice, and apologized for not being aware sooner. He assured me that he'd do whatever he could to make things right, although he admitted that there wasn't many options with such little time. He said that he'd make sure that we got set up with a night out for dinner on his company to say try to make up for poor service. Guess what... They never did that either. I didn't even care if they did that or not, but why offer if you aren't gonna follow through. Sadly, I wasn't surprised. read more

I've been to My Mechanic multiple times, always feel like I've been treated with respect and not oversold on anything. In fact, when my boyfriend took my car elsewhere for a routine oil change, they told him I needed new brakes immediately, that they were dangerous to even drive on. When I took it to My Mechanic to get them fixed, they called me and told me that my brakes were totally fine (didn't even need new pads!) and they wouldn't be charging me anything, I could pick my car up anytime. A mechanic who doesn't charge you for bogus repairs even when they could totally get away with it? What a breath of fresh air! read more

I purchased a coupon on mydailydeals.com for a $10 oil change and tire rotation. I made an appointment ahead of time and when I showed up there were only 2 other people waiting. Maybe 10 minutes later, they both were gone. I still somehow sat there for an hour. After the hour had passed, the manager (Brian? Ryan?) told me the car was ready. He told me the total and I almost fell over. I should add that I also got my car inspected, which was $40. So the total bill came out to $100. O_o I asked about the coupon I gave him and he said that was for regular oil, not synthetic. Which it did, I'm not arguing that. Synthetic oil costs extra. But the coupon was basically for $50+ worth of service for $10, so I was asking where that $40 discount was. He took me for a loop and tried to say he wasn't trying to rip me off, but I wasn't understanding how WITH a discount the oil change was still $60. And on top of all of that, they didn't even do the tire rotation. They said I didn't need it yet, but I was still charged for it. He told me there was no way to remove the charge since it was part of the coupon deal and that the next time I come in, it would be perfomed free of charge. So yeah, I got charged ahead of time for a service and got ripped the hell off for an oil change. The cherry on top is that I PAID $10 for that coupon, so I paid them to rip me off. Hilarious, right? I emailed the company since there is no corporate phone number and never got a response. DO NOT bring your car here if you value your time and don't like getting ripped off. They can take their tire rotation and stick it where the sun don't shine. read more

Maybe the way some people feel when they go to a dentist and it seems like their whole mouth suddenly has a lot of cavities they weren't suspecting. DO NOT GO HERE! I REPEAT, DO NOT GO HERE! Unfriendly staff, expensive as hell, and very unprofessional. I walk in, I can immediately tell that they are going to take advantage of me because of my young age. Dishonest people. Waited more than an hour for what was originally just going to take ~45 minutes. They also charged my account twice because their system "went down" immediately after I swiped my card and submitted my signature. How convenient. I told them that according to my bank account, the $40 had already been charged to my account. They completely ignore it and dismiss me, saying it's impossible, FORCING me to swipe my card again. Turns out, they DID charge my account twice. Had to call Chase and waste my precious time disputing the charge. DON'T GO HERE!!! read more

If you bring your car here on an "emergent" basis for an unexpected breakdown which renders your car inoperable, be prepared to have a very drawn out repair process and one in which communication is rather lacking. I think this major downside is due to the fact that they are so busy, which on the one hand is a good thing because it's an indication that they keep their customers happy and do good work. However, when your car breaks down unexpectedly and absolutely needs to be fixed in order for you to drive it, speed/efficiency is, in my opinion, a rather important factor, as suddenly being without your mode of usual transportation truly becomes an inconvenience in you day to day life. When I dropped my car off via tow truck on a Friday evening I was given the impression that the car would be looked at that afternoon (was told there was "just one truck we're finishing up on then we will take a look", even said they'd call my husband since my phone had died - all indications that the car would at least be looked at that afternoon). I called close to closing since I hadn't heard anything and was told it wouldn't be until the next mid-morning that they would get to my car; the following afternoon rolls around and still no word, so called again and was told it wouldn't get looked at until Monday. When it finally was looked at Monday afternoon, a part had to be ordered and overnight shipped (not totally unexpected), but despite overnight shipping the replacement part was not installed until Thursday morning. When they called around noon to tell me my car was finally ready to go they offered an oil change since I was due, which I agreed to and told them I would be picking the car up around 5:00. In keeping with the theme of inefficiency, when I showed up they had "forgot" to do the oil change, so the waiting continued while they finished. Overall, it was just a very long, drawn out process with a general lack of communication, making for a very frustrating, hectic week of rearranging schedules/finding alternative methods of transportation, which could have been avoided had communication on timing/expectations been made more clear from the start. Not all mechanics will address clutch issues so I was thankful at least to find one that did; unfortunately it just turned out to be an overall frustrating experience. On the plus side though, the staff is quite friendly and while they suggest additional services for which you may be due, they are not pushy as many other mechanics can be. If I have a routine issue that can be addressed by appointment I may take my car back here, but should I have another unexpected issue I will unfortunately be taking my business elsewhere. read more

They never force any extra charges on you, and they tell you exactly what needs to be changed/worked on the next time you visit their shop - that way, you can anticipate the future expense and perhaps shop around for competitive prices. Very pleased with the service. I brought my 2013 Tahoe in to inspect my ball joints and suspension. A different auto shop said I needed new ball joints, and quoted $700 to do the job. I highly recommend doing business with My Mechanic! I decided to bring my car in after my engine was overheating. I moved to this side of town about a year ago so, I was used to taking my car to our family mechanic in Northwest Houston. However, the crew here was incredibly attentive and provided a detailed overview of what needed to be fixed and what each service would cost for parts and labor. I took my car to another mechanic down the street & they charged me almost $300 more for the same services. Brought my car back on a Friday morning and they were able to quickly pull up my previous estimate, and had my car ready for pickup that evening. Just came here today after my car started making a nervous rumbling noise (I had dropped my car on its rotor a few days back while changing a tire). They took it in, let me watch them lift it up, and they walked through what was wrong WITH me. Apparently part of the back of the rotor was bent, and they suspected such after just hearing my story. My car needed a new head light and right fender after a collision with a metal pillar, but when I took it in to get an estimate the manager (I think) must have seen the look of desperation in my eyes. He told me it would take a few hours for a mechanic to assess the damage it was 7am he said he would call me later with the estimate. So I went to work I waited until 12pm and received no call, I called the shop and the manager answered said that a mechanic had just got done looking at it and it would cost $4500 to fix, because they would have to replace the passenger side door and the hood. I was aghast because I knew the door was fine, he explained that the door had been pushed in from the impact and couldn't be opened????? And that the hood, that did have a small dent in it had actually been knocked out of its distribution and would also have to be replaced when I later came to pick up my car and take it to another shop I asked for a copy of the estimate he had given me over the phone and he said he didn't have it because he had just sent the mechanic photos of the damage by email?? total bullshit I doubt anyone else look at my car besides him when I dropped it off. I took it to regency auto repair 9 minutes away and they quoted me at half the price! read more

They do good work. It's a little on the expensive side, but it's done right. I've never had to go back to have it redone or even rechecked.
